5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best there is!
When I first asked my little one where he came from, he thought for a moment and said, "I came from QVC!" Now, that's not quite right so I read him this book and now he says that he came from God, silly! This is such a cute, cute story, how a mama bear constantly reassures her little baby bear that she loves her and that God gave her to both her and her father.Even when she asks her mother if she'd rather have a different baby and her mother says no, after asking why the mother says "because God gave us you."

Everyone is unique and wonderful in God's eyes and this book demonstrates that and of His love for us.A great, great confidence building book and a must read for every family.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful book!
My almost 4 year old daughter loves this book and asks for it as her bedtime story almost everynight. A definite must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars A precious book!!
My sister gave this book to my daughter when I found out I was expecting twins. We had "God Gave Us You" and read it to her almost every night so this was the PERFECT gift for her!The message throughout is so sweet...that every child is a gift and every parent still loves their child even when one (or two!) new baby/babies join their family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Soothing book to love for your child expecting a sibling
I saw this at a baby shower and had to have it! The illustrations are wonderful, and the book combines a little religion and a wonderful way for parents to explain the blessing of a second (or third...) sibling. We have enjoyed this book very much. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Answered the questions my 4 1/2 year old asked before.
My 4 1/2 year old girl had questions about God that I could not find simple words to answer. This book had all the biblical answers in a simplified way. There are a couple of pages that I wasn't quiet comfortable with so I skip them. What I liked most is that at the end of the book it gave the biblical reference for all the given answers.I sure recommend this book for all kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaching parents as well as children . . .
What I enjoy about all of Kathleen Bostrom's little books for children is that they are wonderful on several levels. They're attractive for little children, filled with gentle answers to the tough questions kids ask, plus they have helpful sections in the back of each book to let parents know that the information they contain is Biblically sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet and simple way to introduce God to small children
This book focuses on the questions little minds ask about God, and gives scriptures for the basis of each aspect of God that is given, so that when your toddler becomes a preschooler, you can have the references you need toanswer tougher questions. It's a sweet and simple way to explain who andwhat God is to your toddler. Our children love it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Watch Out for New Edition With New Author & New Illustrator
Karen Henley's "The Beginner's Bible" is a classic popular children's bible for pre-schooler's and primary grades. Beware that the publisher has come out with a new book by the same title, but with all new text by a different author and all new illustrations. The new book IS NOT the same as nor of the same quality as Karen Henley's original. This is a disappointment, that a publisher such as Zondervan would market an entirely new work by the name of a best selling title. Far too confusing for someone unaware of the differences in the two books. Amazon furthers the confusion by featuring the original Karen Henley version in their Look Inside feature for the new book. This is inaccurate information. This is not a new edition of the same work, but an entirely new book with nothing in common but a title.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great First Bible
The illustrations and length of each story make this just a great kids Bible.Perfect for night time stories. My daughter loves it still.A must get to read to your kids, and they'll be reading it before you know it.

5-0 out of 5 stars it was my first bible
I got this Bible when I was 2 years old. I loved looking at the pictures- and they are very bright and colorful. This Bible first gave me the idea that there was a book about God. When I was a little bit older, It told me that Bible stories were interesting, and not boring and glum like I thought it would be after I looked at my dad's Bible with a black cover. After all, you can't judge a book by it's cover! Now I am 10 years old, and although I have a full text NIV Bible, I still love to look at this bible. I actually have 2 copies of it, because when I was 4 I begged my Mom to get me another copy of this Bible. I am extremely fond of reading, and I still remember the day I read it all by myself, When I was 5. Wasn't I proud! It's very understandable and in clear, big, print. I still treasure it very much, and I absolutely recommend this Bible to you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "I WILL PRAISE YOU FOR I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE."
This book is a great introduction to Psalms for you to share with your children. I bought this right away because since I was very young Psalm 139 has been very close to my heart. Oh but when I opened the book and read it to my child I had to read through tears. This is such a beautiful book with delightful yet simple illustrations. (Way to go Kristi!) Keep in mind the book is paraphrased from the Bible and not verbatim but a fantastic translation!

When your child is older and can read Psalm 139 (from the HOLY BIBLE) on his or her own it will make even more sense and beauty. The entire book is enthralling but especially the illustration inspired from verses 14-15 of Psalms 139! This particular illustration has a see-through version of a Mother's tummy with the baby inside. How perfect!

I highly recommend this book for parents to read to their child regularly! It's a very special book that illustrates a glimmer of our OMNIPOTENT AND OMNIPRESENT GOD! You won't be disappointed!

    Thank you Joel!

5-0 out of 5 stars God knows me!
I loved this book just as much as my 3 year old children! It is a great depiction of this very special verse in the Bible that reveals how wonderful God made each one of us. The pictures (computer- generated) draw you into the story of God's beautiful creation of the human body. Every parent should buy this book and start reading it to even the very very young.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comfort for the Littlest
What a fantastic job Mr. Anderson does in taking a Pslam that has always brought me great comfort and peace and bringing it down to the world of achild.Even I was awed by the simple words, "God knows me."Iplan on reading this to my boys every night at bedtime. What a wonderfullast thought before turning out the lights: that to God "even thedarkness would be as bright as daytime..."The illustrations are warmand colorful.Showing things that aren't there as if they were.Great wayto show kids how the hands of God hold you.And I like the fact that thechild in the book could be either a boy or a girl.Great for both! Overall, I plan on giving this book as a gift to every family I know. It'sa MUST have! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Why Should I Be Afraid?
This book is beautifully illustrated and uses illustrations to explain Psalm 27 to children in a warm and positive way.Rather than "monsters under the bed" the hand of God is opened and shown to little ones in such a lovely way!My nieces and nephew are getting a copy and my 11 year old still enjoys it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book warmly reminds you of God's protective hand.
My boys and I have read the book about six times since last night. One of them went to bed with it. The illustrations depict the content of the text with such warmth. The message of God's caring hand comes across so wellwith the words being taken directly from a paraphrased Bible. What could bemore comforting than this? Wonderful! I will be buying more of these books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Cool
So many children's books are just junk. This one is too, but for once that's a compliment. My 4 year-old picked this out, and now it's one of our favorites. The illustrations are so detailed that we can spend ten minutes just pointing out different things on one page, and this is the neatest retelling of the Jonah story I've ever seen.I always talk to my daughter as we read, and it was clear she understood the point exactly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, unusual, captivating childrens' book
My kids love this book, and they choose it over and over again to be read to them. They also love to scour the pages for all the hidden items they need to find. The unique illustrations keeps them alert and interestedwhile listening to one of the best Bible stories for children.

5-0 out of 5 stars No Matter What They Think--You're Special!
Unlike other retellings of the story of Jonah, this charming book focuses not on the point that Jonah tried to run from God and couldn't--but rather on the fact that though Jonah (God's chosen messenger, no less!) thoughtthe people of Nineveh were bad, and therefore unworthy of God's love andmercy, GOD thought they were good and was determined to show His love tothem.A powerful message for adults and the children they read along wtih. The illustrations are so imaginative, as well!I highly recommend thisbook! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a book of beauty
Jesus' teachings are beautiful to learn; however, for most, they are difficult to share with a young child. But Gods Little Seeds makes sharingJesus that much easier. The beautiful and simple pages retell the parableof the mustard seed and the sower in a way that any child can understand. The warm illustrations will captivate children's imaginations and theparables themselves will bring a new understanding of Jesus.

This booknot only nurtures the soul but the mind as well, and should become a partof every child's book collection. It is a book which can be passed downfrom one generation to the next because the story will never grow old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great teaching tool for kids!
First, a slightly-doctored Bible story (e.g., after Adam and Eve eat the fruit, they lived happily ever after; the lions put ketchup on Daniel before they ate him; Goliath and David became friends) - followed by a big"HEY! That's NOT what the Bible says!" - and then the REAL story, with a to-the-point message. (And, at the back of the book, excerpts fromthe relevant Scriptures). Stories go from Adam and Eve to the Resurrectionof Jesus. Great learning book to read to young children, hilariousillustrations - you'll love it! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This cheery red and blue cloth toy is a depiction of Noah's fabled Ark, complete with a collection of miniature stuffed animals (arranged two by two, of course) and Noah himself, with his long white beard and shepherd's crook. At about 12 inches long and 10 inches tall, the SS Noah features two separate compartments--one in the roof and one in its side--into which the assorted zebras, giraffes, pigs, lions, geese, rabbits, crocodiles, hippos, and cows can go when the weather turns bad. (Assorted dogs, chickens, sheep, and other animals peer out from the windows.) When the 40 days and nights are over, the entire menagerie can ride on deck with Noah via a series of ingenious pockets that rise just above the waterline. This washable vessel, with a carrying handle on top, is an imaginative toy that's almost as enjoyable to cuddle as it is to play with. --John Longenbaugh ... Read more

Received this as a gift and the animals were so small it became a choking hazard. I wound up not even letting my six month old play with the toy and eventually threw it away when my eldest lost all the animals. Now that I see how expensive the toys was.

3-0 out of 5 stars Do NOT Buy
This toy was given to me as a gift- and at first I thought it was adorable. However, some of the toys are too small and a choking hazard. The worst thing is that the material is so cheap on the animals that as the baby chews them the color will come off in their mouth.Babies do love to chew these animals- my daughter loved chewing them- until I threw it away because of her mouth turning purple!Beware- it is a very expensive toy and your money would be much better spent elsewhere. This is a wonderful toy.It can be played with and cuddled too.It is also really cute. There are lots of things you can do with the many animals: match them, put them in the side pockets, roof pocket or under boat pocket. Or just play with them by themselves. When my son was younger he liked to chew on them. The boat and animals are very well made, I've even put a few through the wash. The company also offers a lifetime guarentee for free replacement animals if any are lost. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The First Story for a New Child of God
Walt Wangerin, professor, teacher, writer, pastor, and most of all, child of God, has given us a precious gift: an illuminating storybook about God's gift of baptism. This book fills a void in the world of children's literature, drawing children into their rightful place in the household offaith, The Church. The text is written in rhyming couplets, a style thatchildren love; after hearing it a few times, they can supply the rhymesthat follow each line (as they do with Dr. Seuss books). The story is toldfrom the perspective of creation itself, rejoicing at the baptism of thechild, andhis/her place in the world. This is done gracefully andlovingly. The illustrations are glorious! The artist, Gerardo Suzan, has asimple, delightful style that children can interpret easily; yet includedwithin the simple paintings are classic symbols of creation and Christianiconography. The illustrations and the text are a perfect marriage. Theback of the storybook includes scriptural and theological clarification ofthe story and paintings. This is helpful for parents with their ownquestions about baptism; I believe that quality children's books offersomething for the adults as well as for the children. This is a"lap" book, something to be enjoyed and shared for families.Baptism is the perfect occasion to give this book;on the baptismal day, have the family, the sponsors, the pastors, and the whole congregation signthe book as a remembrance. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Rejoice!
A jewel of a book! A Christian book for toddlers that teaches, not preaches; that sings, not stings. From creation to the cross, with Grandma's and snails in between, "Love, That's Why," gets it right. Simple rhymes and vibrant pictures combine to celebrate the wonder of God's creation. Everyone I have shown this book to, from two-year-olds to a seventy-two year-olds, has smiled. I understand this is one in a series of books and music tapes that Henley has created for the toddler set. I am off to find more. You should too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for those afraid of the dark!
We introduced this book as we moved our 2 1/2 yr old to his new room and it helped him understand that noises are not to be afraid of. It helps kids connect a picture of something non-scary with noises they hear instead of reacting with fear. He loves it and we read it nightly for now. ... Read more

A delightful story, teaching values and character with wonderful illustrations rich in texture and life.

Laying it on thick?I don't think so.As a father of 2 under age 3, I look for a long list of qualities in a children's book.- Scary elements aren't overdone- Story makes a point or teaches values- Story is fun- Illustrations are warm and colorful- Short enough my kids don't lose interest- Long enough we don't have to read it more than twice in a sitting- Durable construction to handle my kids

You don't neccessarily need all of these to have a great book, but when you find them all, you've got a gem. ... Read more
