Regarding 1934 reprint of 1st edition: good resource
This is an excellent resource for anyone looking to understand traditional building materials and methods. The printing is excellent. The actual plates from the original work are valuable not only for the technical information they contain, but the artistry with which they were composed is superb.

A Must Own Book for Serious Residential Do-It-Yourselfers
This book is an excellent reference book for use in designing, planning, and building a new house or remodeling an existing one. Whenever I plan on doing something on the house, I double check with this reference before finishing my designs and plans. It's a must own book for serious do-it-yourselfers.
Readers' Digest Version of AGS
Although these editions change little, this review is based upon AGS 10th Ed. & AGSRC 2003.
One volume encyclopedia
Experienced readers will benefit from its brief summaries and drawings covering the broadest range of topics imaginable. Some economizing is evident in the paper and printing quality, some of the drawings look 50 years old, but there is lots of reference information, like span tables, solar position data, etc. Probably not the last word on every topic, but still worth consulting. ... Excellent Guide to the Codes.
Being an architecture student, this book, and others by Frank Ching, are more than helpful. It really clarifies the IBC and makes design for studio projects go a lot quicker. Definitely get this book if you're studying architecture.

Francis Ching provides high quality, easy to understand, graphic illustrations of building code regulations. The chapters are well organized for checking construction documents for code compliance.

Warning, this book i smeant to go with the IRC(2000) revision, not the current IRC(2003). The information is still good, but you'll have fun trying to cross-reference sections to the 2003 version of the IRC. ... Read more

Targeted Primarily for Persons Doing Commercial Interior Design Projects
I already own AIA's Architectural Graphics Standards for Residential Construction, which is an excellent reference book for use in designing, planning, and building a new house or remodeling an existing one. Wanting more information for interior design of a house, I reviewed a copy of this book at the library. The book is primarily targeted to those persons doing interior design work on commercial projects. If you're looking for interior design help for a house, I would recommend buying AIA's Architectural Graphics Standards for Residential Construction to use as a reference and look for other books targeted specifically at residential interior design.

A good handbook for interior details!
The day I received the Interior Graphic Standards, I used some of the details in the book for a project I was working on. This book provides information, including construction details, which are very useful to the practicing architect and interior designer.

Bible of Interior Design~!
I'm an Interior Design student at Ryerson University in Toronto, and I have never seen a book that is as comprehensive as the IGS.It covers almost everything. I've used this book as a reference for almost every school project I've done. My professor strongly recommended this book to us, but at first I was hesitated to buy it because of the price.However I found it cheaper to buy online than in retail bookstores.I told my classmates about it and showed them the book, after they've seen it they said they are all gonna buy it. DO NOT BUY! it's hard to imagine a more worthless book
This book is a fiasco. As a professional in commercial space planning for many years, I picked it up based on a 'glowing review'. I find another few good ratings here on-line. The authors mother must be writing them, because no one who actually attempted to verify the faulty and incomplete information within, could ever see this tome as worth the paper upon which it is printed.Read more

Poor substitute for "Time Saver Standards"
I bought this book as an inexpensive alternative to "TIME SAVER STANDARDS FOR INTERIOR DESIGN AND SPACE PLANNING" by Joseph Dechiara and found it to be a poor substitute.While this book has useful information on human dimensions it falls short when portraying ergonomic information.OK for an introductory book on the subject but "TIME SAVER STANDARDS..." is a far superior reference. ... Every Interior Designer Should Own One!
I came across this book by accident, took it home, and immediately started using it that evening for an interior design project.I can finally remove all of the post-it notes from the colossal, "Time-Saver Standards" book and get to work without hunting any further.Genius!

Every Architect should own one!
I bought this book for my husband who is an architect, he loves it! He used this book as a reference right away for the projects he is working on, he told me " this is such a great book that every architect should own one"

Great little reference!
This is a wonderful little reference book of architectural data, something like what you would imagine Graphic Standards would be if you reduced it to its most useful 10%, and organized it better. The material is clear, concise, and beautifully presented. In fact a book so graphically striking and thoughtful is fairly rare for a reference book.

Time Saver Standards for Interior Design and Space Planners
This is a a "must have" for anyone in the interior design industry.The best book since Architectural Graphic Standards for the Interior Design Profession.Very Specific and all inclusive, excellent details for just about every application. Not great but the only thing like it.
This is a compilation of materials from other sources, most of which are readily available to everyone but it's very convenient to have all the information in one place. However, some of the information is inaccurate,some of the illustrations are out of date, and many are poor copies ofphotocopies that aren't legible.I find this inexcusable in a bookintended for designers and one that is $100+. Unfortunately, it is the onlybook of its kind. I recommend double checking any information that you takefrom it. Reznikoff is the only comparable book and that is even more out ofdate.At least Reznikoff was well produced though. ... Read more

not great
The book is small and the details very much smaller. I bought the book to help me detail a modern house addition and am extremely dissapointed. There are many pretty photos and the drawings associated with them are presentation drawings, not construction drawings. The book is of of little use to the architect and even less use to the layperson.

Nice of technical details and gorgeous pictures
Plenty of very interesting ideas for splendid buildings. drawings are well done and very useful.
ARTful Openings
A great book! And not only for professionals, but also for lay people interested in architecture, or young people considering careers in the field. Beautifully put together with gorgeous photographs, this book can take its place among art books. I hope Ms. Talarico decides to write other books of this kind focusing on different parts of buildings, e.g. windows, balconies, roofs or staircases.

Below Grade Waterproofing
A good book and very good in depth knowledge of proper installation of systems. How ever a previous review mentioned a non bias approach....I beg to differ...it looks to me that Mr. Henshell is very pro and friendly with certain manufacturers.

With the oldest known waterproofing going back 4,000 years you'd think someone would have recorded the wisedom of the ages on how to keep water out of the building.Finally someone has! Justin's book is the best thatis available.This book should be on the shelf of anyone that is in anyway involved with waterproofing.This could be the text for acomprehensive college course if any professor were ever soinclined.Read more

Buyer Beware
When it was difficult to get to the library to view the Uniform Plumbing Code, I used this at home to study for an exam. I was rudely surprised when I got to the libary, compared the references to the code, and found that this guide was riddled with errors.It serves a purpose as it alerts the user to possible code issues, but you must check all references.The codes are expensive but not as expensive as counting on this guide might be.

What a plumbing instructor thinks.
Code check has helped me immensely. I teach residential plumbing for a 150+ employee 1500+ homes a year Northern California company and have found that the info in C.C. is formatted in such a way that my apprentice plumbers can easily find info they need. They seldom need clarification. All codes cited are referenced with the UPC and IRC section numbers for easy look up.(IRC not used here in NorCal but nice for those who need it) Diagrams are simple and clear. C.C. is laminated and tough. Built for in the field use.I love this book. Holding back the fifth star due to spanish version unavailability.
