5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING
I have read several feng shui book and I think this is the best and works too. I started on my prosperity area and in less than 24 hours it started working. I made a month paycheck in two weeks without working too hard.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand
This is very easy to understand and very entertaining. I tried the techniques and after I worked on my prosperity corner I received an unexpected but welcome check. There are many types of Feng Shui and many don't acknowledge Black Hat, but for me this is the most reasonable. Most of the other forms are just not feasible in the way we live today. This book is well worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Feng Shui Newby
I really liked this book. I thought it was entertaining as well as educational. It read like a novel while teaching me how to balance my stuff. I really liked the part about affirmation in the back. I believe the affirmations should probably be read before you start moving your stuff around, that way when you place stuff and say your affirmations at the same time, it makes the placement that more meaningful for you and your intentions. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Beyond The Gilded Age Of The Adirondacks!
From the 'opening' of the Adirondacks in the 18th Century to the present, Harvey Kaiser delivers a premier photographic history of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks.Exploring the architectural history from an owner's whinsey to the details of a porch railing, Kaiser guides the reader through a history of gorgeous excess and an age of bountiful richness that few knew.Camp Uncas (owner J.P. Morgan), Topridge (Marjorie Merriweather Post) and Nehasane (Dr. William Seward Webb) are just a few of the detailed highlights showcased in this volume. Many of the larger hotels and lesser known camps (and castles) are photographed and discussed here at length. This book is not just for the architect, builder or historian. It is a display of architectural beauty build into a unique and mysterious landscape. It is a history never to be repeated and never to be forgotten.

5-0 out of 5 stars The seminal work on rustic architecture
The discovery of this book made me set aside all the others on rustic architecture. The author does a marvelous job in explaining the beginnings ofrustic architecture and why it has a permanent place in our culture. The mix of social background and the history of the early Adirondack campswith superb photographs provides a designers guidebook. The arguments forhistoric preservation are skillfully written and should be read by anyonein the field.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for passing the exam
Knowledge on Project Management comes purely from practical experience. However the professional certifications matters a lot. To pass the exam, probably this is THE ONLY best book in the market. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best PMP Prep
Thanks in large part to this book and other Rita Mulcahy products, I passed the PMP certification test yesterday. I purchased the PMP Exam Prep Book, PMP FASTrack, as well as Test Tactics Numbers 1 and 2 (1 is better than 2). They were all very, very helpful, and the best of all the study aids I used. Questions at the end of each chapter in the book are similar to the actual test questions. Of course you will need to read, read, read the PMBOK as well as other material. ... Read more

This is a fascinating book on a singular talent. It was so interesting to see images and articles, gathered from the era in which Mr. Smith practiced. The photos are wonderful and the text is highly informative.George Washington Smith was the foremost master of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and this book honors him.I highly recommend it to anyone with any interest whatsoever in this style of architecure, you wont be disappointed, it is a long awaited tribute to one of the finest American residental architects of the 20th century.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mediterranean Architecture At Its Finest
I love these elegant books put out by Acanthus Press. This book has vivid period black and white images of great american homes in the Mediterranean style. This is a reprint of a book first realized in the 20's.The images and text really make one appreciate the craftmanship and grace of the era. They really don't build buildings. like this anymore, whether they be for residential or commercial use.If you have any interest in wondeful period images, or singular craftmanship, then you will love this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Primarily southern CA architecture.
This was a good coffee table book.Or, if you're interested in the "Mediterranean" look that would be more precisely refered to as "spanish revival" or "Santa Barbara" this is a great example of the architecture of southern CA in the earlier part of the last century.A very popular and good looking style.Only thing, for a style reference it could have used more floor plans of the homes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shadows on Stucco Walls
I find this book a compelling record of a style and period of architecture I love. This is a reprint of a 1929 book, the period black & white photos and drawings are well realized and reveal a lot detail. There are also plans shown for most of the houses illustratedRead more

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and MONEY!
Based on the reviews of this book I decided to buy it! To my absolute shock, I dont understand who wrote these great reviews??? They were probably written by the publisher or author of this book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good Guide
I was not impressed when I received this book, with the quality of the paper or the overall presentation.I thought some of the photography left much to be desired quality-wise.However, it is quite a comprehensive book and I leaned on it considerably in my studies of furniture and design. So don't let me put you off.I just think that, with all the research and hard work involved, and considering the price, a better quality might have been forthcoming.

5-0 out of 5 stars An architect's treasure
This book has outstanding breadth of information for system architecture. Some details are quite basic, while others are quite indepth. Overall though, what's most important is that the book is very well written and serves its purpose well. It has many excellent strategies, along with a comprehensive feature list of most J2EE projects.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference Book
I have many years of architectural drafting experience. Although this book says "Basic Skills" on the cover, it is much more than basic. It's an excellent reference book, covering everything that is needed for interior design drafting: from line weights to scale, dimensioning, plans, elevations, sections, checklists, furniture and finish schedules, contract documents, and the list goes on. I highly recommend this book for students of interior design and practising designers alike. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Reference
As an architect, I use this book as a reference tool. The library of photos contained within this book sometimes help when trying to develop the characteristics of a certain style of building.I have even used to with a few clients who say thay want this or that look. I then have them thumb through this book and show them the style they have mentioned only to have then say "No, this is the style I'm talking about" pointing to another style.
5-0 out of 5 stars And it has a Sears Home inside!!
For many years, I've written about historic architecture and vintage homes and have also written four books on this topic (including "The Houses That Sears Built").
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Primer and Reference
"Field Guide" is the first reading required of all graduate students in at least one highly esteemed university degree program in historic preservation. It is also one of those rare books that serves well as both an introduction to and a reference for its subject.

Editorial Review

Our contact with great architecture tends to be indirect, through representations. Few of us have seen the Taj Mahal, yet we all know exactly what it looks like. The useful act of photographing buildings can be an art, particularly when the photographer's presence seems to recede, and a great architectural shot suggests that you're seeing things as they are rather than through someone else's prism.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent introductory book
This book explains the fundamentals of structural analysis (mainly statically determinate structures) and then goes on to the design fundamentals for different materials (wood, steel, concrete and masonry)followed by the design of the structural system for a building.I firstused an earlier edition of this book when studying for my undergraduatedegree as an introductory book before reading the course texts. The presentedition maintains the "easy to understand" explanations of theearlier edition while adding new materials, expanding other sections andupdating the design methods in line with the building codes. Emphasis isplaced on understanding, the explanations given are very clear and thereare numerous worked examples to illustrate the principles. The book isexcellent for the beginner first getting used to structural analysis anddesign or for the practising engineer who has not touched structures for awhile and wants to refresh his memory. However this book is only the firststep and the undergraduate or practising engineer would do well to followup on thiswith other more specialised books like Wang and Salmon's"Reinforced Concrete Design", Salmon and Johnson's "Steelstructures: Design and behaviour", or Halperin and Bible's"Principles of Timber Design for Architects and Builders". ... Just bought this book about 2 hours ago, and put it down only to write this review. This guy is one heck of an artist.5-0 out of 5 stars Taking Your Grass Care a Cut Above Where It Is Today!
Summary:Picture Perfect is the ultimate resource for those who want to add even more beauty and interest to their grass by growing and maintaining healthier turf and cutting it in original and beautiful patterns.4-0 out of 5 stars WHAT AN AMAZING BOOK!
One of the first things I notice about people's homes is the way the lawn is cut. Some might say, "get a life," but to me the landscape design and lawn say a lot. From a psychological point of view, it says something about the people who live there, too!We have all seen lawns cut straight and perfect, every blade of grass precise, row after row - not much creativity there. We have also seen lawns cut haphazardly in every conceivable direction and length, a clump here and a clump there, as if the ride-on mower and its near-sighted rider short-circuited, jumped the fence and rode off into the sunset! 5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and a good read too!
Of all the Carolyne Roehm books, this set is my favorite. It had some practical gardening tips as well as the flower arrangements and recipes. If you are expecting a gardening "how to" book, this is not the one. However, the books are beautiful and I enjoyed each one.It gave me many ideas for my own home.I will never have a budget that allows me to purchase 12 dozen roses for one display, however, many of her ideas can be implemented on a smaller scale with less expensive florals. The color combinations were inspiring as well as the examples of matching floral displays to the surroundings. If you love flowers and beautiful table scapes, you will love this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good reference but dated
Not a bad reference for most users. It is a little basic and some of the info is dated. It's a little weak in more advanced areas like indiredt addressing, use and construction of subroutines, but otherwise this is a good book to keep in a general library for technicians responsible for supporting PLC based systems.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for AB users
I have used this text in our PLC class for three years. I really like that it is specific to Allan Bradley products. The workbook that goes with this text has programming assignments to reinforce the concepts. As I train on AB SLC500s exclusively, it is almost ideal. I say almost becaue there are many references to obsolete instructions used with a PLC no longer manufactured. It is due for a new edition. But until then, it remains a very good text to teach from, or if you simply want to know more about the subject.
