This book puts you on the fast track to grafting the styles of famous artists into your own work through more than five dozen easy-to-follow recipes. Not surprisingly, you'll find yourself learning more than you originally expected to about Photoshop.

not-so-fast ...
Earlier this year I reviewed what many will see as the companion volume to this book ("Photoshop Blending Modes Cookbook for Digital Photographers"), written by the same author. Unfortunately, the newer publication is less useful. It seems to have been written on a pretext that it's clever to be able to duplicate what traditional artists can do. This seems - from my own personal viewpoint - to be greatly undervaluing the power of Photoshop (and similar software). Practitioners of digital fine art should (really, constructively) be looking to explore what the principles of prior and traditional art can mean within a new domain.

Robert Rauschenberg: Man or Genius Man?
This book blatantly rocks my world. It has a very nice selection of images, and is much more affordable than the godly $900 retrospective catalogue. Amen.

Very well written. Answers questions artists like myself have
Very well written. Answers important questions artists like myself have about reed and quill pens, inks, etc. that Vincent used. If you enjoy working in pen and ink this book provides lots of exciting details. Such as Vincent's method of drawing in pencil and heightening in pen and ink and his common sense method of making the paintings proportional to his drawing paper dimensions.

This is an excellent book.It is beautifully illustrated, making it a lovely overview of Van Gogh's drawings, visually-speaking.
A different perception on a 'known' man.

Highly recommended
This book is one of two Henri's books I have and the best one. The book to go through again and again. Then go shoot some pictures and go through it again. You'll be surprized how many fresh impressions you'll get every time. Very inspiring book. Highly recommended for practicing fotographers.

he's nuts, but he produces fabulous art
as good as the book is, i must say that it pales in comparison to seeing his work in person.i saw some of it at the renwick gallery in washington d.c. and it's just incredible.he's come out of his shell in the last fewyears but has been producing great stuff for a long time. Ho-Hum
Great photography and sculptures, but the writing style is fool's gold. Too expensive as well, even with the Amazon reduction. It's great but not that great.

Truly amazing...the Greatest Illustrators work...
Frazetta was an artist with a different style, yet seemed to capture and captivate so many foreign lands of barbarians and beasts...then bring them end gently place them on the table in front of us.From Conan to Tarzan and so much more, this is a great book.I call it a coffee table book because I had a rougher copy that I kept in the living room.Whenever someone came over they would start looking at it.Many couldn't put it down.Then they start realizing they KNOW Franks work...they see Death Dealer, they see the Conan like images, and they're hooked!

This is book 2 of a trilogy. This one seems to have more emphasis on his comic book and comic strip work, than what appears in the other two books of the trilogy, "Icon" and "Testament." This one includes an 8-page romance comic book story by Frank, from 1952. The end of an era

Fantastic
This book is worth the money if only for the reproductions.Lots of large plates with a lot of close ups as well. If you only want one book on Botticelli this would be a good one.

A beautiful book!
This is fascinating book about the life of Botticelli and techniques he used.The reproductions are wonderful, including some close-ups of characters from selected paintings. I recently returned from Italy, and having viewed many of these paintings at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence makes the reading and the beautiful color plates throughout the book all the more enjoyable.I would highly recommend this book to fans of Renaissance art.
