Not much to learn
I found his advises similar with what I knew since my childhood (save money, invest to bring you more money, don't spend much, real estate is good, etc). It does not give tips on what "rich" people know (at least I suspect they would know more). Like how and where to get valuable information. How to buy stocks, what to look for, nothing of that. May be inspirational book for some, a poor kid who became rich... Tells 100 times the same things, annoying at some point.

RICH DAD, POOR DAD seems contradictory in more than one way:economically and philosophically.Probably, Kiyosaki's most inviting, yet deceptive, chapters is Eight, "Overcoming obstacles."Here, he is at his most fervent; one can feel he believes what he is writing is true.But it is not necessarily true about life itself.

Another great in the Powertalk Series
Using the mentality of "henry1983" all the great classics ever written by the greatest authors that ever lived deserve to be rated "one star" because "you can find them in the library" as if the rating system has anything to do with where someone obtained the content! Books here are reviewed by people who *read the book* regardless of whether they got it from the library, a local bookstore, as a gift, or at Amazon.It's almost embarrassing that this needs to be explained to what I assume is an adult--so this person may have some kind of ulterior agenda. The very fact that he rated it one star for that reason and then stated in his writing that it actually deserves 5 stars, means he invalidated his own rating and should therefore be removed (and take this paragraph along with it).

Nice job from Tony, but Prechter lacks deeper knowledge of the basics of finance and macro-economy to be able to make such affirmations. Not to mention that he over-simplifies all matters to make and re-make his point. Of course, his pessimistic view may still prove to be right and then he will be called a guru again. But how long has been since he declared these points and nothing happened? Some months, right? I think deep thinking people tend to be unhappy because they're not living life.They're idealizing and rationalizing life.Some of the concepts here may be good, but reading this book will leave you feeling empty, even if you agree.It's better to spend the time living your life than reading these kinds of deep books.

Valuable Lessons Well Presented
This audio program is that rare combination of valuable, practical advice presented in an entertaining, easy to absorb manner.It's clear Roger Dawson knows his topic well, but what separates him from the many other "negotiating experts" is that his material is well-organized, and filled with many real-life, entertaining examples of his principles in action, making it easy and fun to learn as you listen. Win-Win
I have read many books of this genre. I listed to this audiobook set and it is great. The presentation quality is excellent, but the content quality is fantastic. For example, his win-win section is better than any other I have seen. Most people (even experts) seem to think that win-win mean that one person wins and the other person is made to think he also wins, but is not quite that way (even if they don't say it, their end result is that it MUST be that way based on their model). Dawson's is a true win-win as is this audiobook.

Great tactics for people without morals or a conscience
A great eye opener for the non-salesperson!However, Dawson's tactics are what make the sales profession a sleazy business.I would never deal with anyone knowingly using these tactics, or at least I'd never deal with thema second time.His negotiating examples are riddled with bogus schemessuch as creating fictitious higher authorities (i.e. I'll have to run thedeal by my committee, my investors, my partner, etc.)He even suggestsmaking commitments you and the other party know you can't keep. Paraphrasing: 'Come down another $2,000 and I promise to get your invoicepayments in 5 days before due date,' Dawson says. 'You and he both knowit'll never happen.But at least you let him save face by pretending hegot a concession.'Bull-hockey! We're dealing in lies and deceit here,and calling it game.These tactics are good if you are void of moraldecency and are not looking for repeat business.Otherwise, learn them sothat when you see them, you can run like hell! ... Outstanding!
Dale Carnegie is one of the authors I have admired for so long. There are numerous reasons why this book is a classic one. He deeply believes that in every person there is good and you can approach it. Of course, there are many negative people who don't like this book because they see everything in black and white. Carnegie on the other side advocates a really delicate, positive and humane approach to everyone around you. It comes very close to "treat the others as you want them to treat you". I am sure that if everyone read and apply the principles in this wonderful book, the world will be a better place. I am sure that you will be pleased as well with his talent to really understand what drives people. Some of the key and basic motivators he discussed are sex and being important. His viewpoint is very close to the one of the bestselling author of scientfically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex. After all genius things are usually simple. Carnegie explores the human nature and common hot buttons together with the reader and gives you tools to manage and push them at your will with the help of numerous examples. I liked that the book is practical, easy and fun to read, and most of all that it delivers great value. I can not say the same for many other books. Definitely get a copy especially if you are a "good" person and prefer to treat people with respect and dignity.

If everyone in the world read this book just once, it would be such a more enjoyable place to live in...

It's difficult to give enough praise to what Stephen R. Covey does.I love reading his books and almost anyone will benefit from browsing through the different stories about how people had the courage to face their problems and change by engaging in positive behavior.To state the obvious, 'Living the 7 Habits' is an inspiring read.I would urge a bit of caution, however, in that the laboratory of the real world may not cooperate much with a person living the seven habits.On the other hand, Covey never says it's easy and he at least indirectly reminds the reader that incorporating the seven habits into one's life is an enormous amount of work.

Great Ideas
Zig Ziglar definately gives alot of thoughts and ideas in the book. Some of the things he said, really hit home to me and I felt I could really apply what he was talking about.
so what if hes christian?
a very ignorant thing to do would be to exclude everything he has to say because he would cite the bible or jesuses teachings.given alot of people are christian, alot of people dont mind.i myself am not christian, im a setian, however it doesnt mean that even when he cites the bible, what he has to say isnt valid or doesnt hold water.

I am always amazed by the thoughtware of Jay Abraham. I have most of his published stuff, ranging from this book to all other audio/video resources. In real person, during public presentations which I have attended, he is not impressive - in fact, quite boring -, but when he writes, I hold him in great esteem. Eternal truths (and lies)
This is the most candid and honest record of Trump's deals by the great master to date, or so it seems. This impression can be attributed, however, to the great job Tony Schwartz did on this book. Compare this to Trump's "How to get rich" and you know what I mean.
Written After The Early Years: Good Trump Entertainment
Let us give him his due. He has great style and tenacity and the nerve. This book was written in better days before his fall. I have visited a number of his buildings - which I understand that he was closely and personally involved in the design and construction - and they are beautiful.
For What Its Worth
You never know whether to ever really trust what Trump says or not. I actively avoided reading this book for some time. I just resisted it. I must have felt that it is a propoganda piece and I was right. It is just another win for Trump. Another chance to boast about himself and his competence. And the ironic thing is the lesson to be learned by the man on the street is exactly that. In real estate, it is simply connection and bravado after a certain level of core competencies have been achieved. This book does not go into the details of how to do what he has done.....as step by step approach beside being boring would have been ridiculous. First thing to do is go back in time and be born in a family where your father is a wealthy builder. And be born to a father who was historically in the right situation himself--building homes when the soldiers came home and started families. The second thing is go to the premier business school in the nation. After that, you do a few deals with your father and learn the business inside and out. After that make some connections through your father's friends. And the most important thing is to start your career and venture when the real estate market is absolutely deppressed. You can't help but make money.

The original theory of constraints story
A particularly easy, menorable read -- I still refer to it in my engineering discussions in the business place.A must read whose applicability goes beyond manufacturing engineering.

I was required to read this book as apart of my MBA program.Boy am I glad I was!!!This is an excellent book that uses the favorable fable approach to get points across.There are excellent principles that are presented in a way that seems more like reading a NY times best seller.Very easy read!!!

Still effective after all these years.
Even though the first edition of this book was 1984, the message is still applicable.The Goal of the business is to make money, and Goldratt tells us how in a very entertaining read.Subsequent books by several authors still mimic his theme of continual process improvement through the reduction of bottlenecks which uncovers still more areas for improvement.This is one book I always buy for new managers when they start their corporate journey.I bought this one for a new CEO friend of mine.He thought it was great! ... Readable introduction to economic theory
For anyone coming to Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations the first surprise is how readable it is. Famous classic of economic theory though it may be, this is no dry academic tome to be read only by people with a scholarly interest in economic history. There are no detailed tables of statistics of the sort one might expect to find in a modern book on the subject, and no mathematical analysis, indeed not very much quantitative information at all. Instead there is a long series of examples to explain such ideas as why it is more efficient to divide work among several specialists rather than have a complete task fulfilled by one person, or why slave labour is ultimately more expensive than paying free workers, even workers in cities like Boston or New York, where wages were far higher in Smith's time than those in his native Scotland.
Brutal, Yet Interesting Read
This was absolutely a brutal read; however, it was more or less a paradox described as painfully interesting. The mind of Adam Smith is incredible, and I encourage an interested reader to duke it out as you'll most certainly come out of the book more informed. The rich are different from the rest of us, if for no other reason than U.S. tax and securities laws allow them to invest in ways that keep us from catching up to them. That's why 90 percent of all corporate shares of stock are owned by 10 percent of the people. Kiyosaki believes it's possible for anyone to move up into that 10 percent, but it takes a different view of investing than most people have: it takes a plan to be a successful investor. And a plan is more than simply buying and selling, or collecting "assets" that bring in no cash and are thus more akin to liabilities. The way most people invest, "they might as well be pushing a wheelbarrow in a circle," he writes. A plan is "mechanical, automatic, and boring," a formula for success that has worked historically for most of those who've used it. Kiyosaki's "rich dad" (actually, the father of his best friend) tells him the simplest analogy is the game Monopoly: buy four green houses, trade them for one red hotel, and repeat until you become rich.
