5-0 out of 5 stars must buy
It's a must buy for people in high-yield/distressed analysis. I was suggested this book at my first day at work.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Complete Introduction
The premise of this book is really quite simple.
5-0 out of 5 stars Valuable insights, useful commentary, and professionally written.
Like many of us, perhaps you've owned some bonds that have fallen into junk status or worse, distress/bankruptcy.In most cases, did you throw up your arms either selling at a loss or confused by smallprint mail solicitations?Stephen Moyer is an absolute pro and de-mystifies what some may think of as a blackbox only understood by investment specialists, asset pirates, and/or bankruptcy lawyers.

2-0 out of 5 stars Shady Advertising
Had I known about the holy roller content throughout this book (especially in one chapter, but sprinkled throughout), I wouldn't have bought it. I wouldn't have a problem with it at all...except for the fact that such religiously-based content was concealed in the title, description (on the back), & introduction (in the front & back flaps). There was no mention of God, Jesus, Bible, etc. in any of these places. If this author is so keen on using his religious beliefs (inner-mingled with an extremely secular, materialistic topic) to turn a profit...fine. But at least be honest about it. Isn't that one of the tenets of Christianity? If the author is so devoted to his faith, perhaps he shouldn't be shy (shamed?) about shouting from the rooftops that his book is about money and Jesus.
5-0 out of 5 stars Repair
I bought this book in 1998 after my Chapter 7 bankruptcy.I give this book the credit for me now having a credit score of over 700.I was told by Mr. Synder of a great secured credit card at that time "FCNB" (not available anymore) that was one of the best to help repair credit.I have always paid low interest rates on cars (1.9% thru Honda) and purchased a brand new (just built) home in 2002.I have purchased boats and four wheelers all financed thru reputable lenders.I loved this book!!!I really liked the part where it explained how you need to get a copy of your credit report after discharge and make sure all the outstanding balances are changed to zero.I believe that was the best tip ever.I had a finance manager at a auto dealer tell me I had the best looking bankruptcy credit report ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Covers the new law comprehensively and accessibly
To begin with, bankruptcy law changed completely as of October 17, 2005 for really the first time since 1978. Therefore, all books published before that date are pretty much worthless since they are giving you outdated advice on the old law. Of the ones that are in print covering the new law that I have looked through, this one seems to be the best combination of accessible and complete. It does a good job of answering common questions that a person would ask about bankruptcy in the new environment, as well as going into painstaking detail about all of the changes to the law, including the new means test. Included are the steps you need to take to declare bankruptcy, the order in which you need to take them, and the forms you need to fill out. The book also talks about impacts to your life you might not have thought of, such as how declaring bankruptcy might impact your ability to get certain types of jobs or even auto insurance of all things! The reason I have read so much about this is not that I have declared or am planning to declare bankruptcy. Just call me an interested citizen that followed the debate over the new law very carefully and therefore I know a little more than the average citizen about what is in the new law. That is how I know that this book covers and emphasizes the changes so well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Decent Book
This is a decent book.I am a 3L law student thinking of doing collections. This book is an excellent choice for the average person with no legal education. As a law student though I always expect more though but it does set out the basics in an unbiased manner with the law printed in the appendix.Definitely worth the price.
4-0 out of 5 stars Collection Agency Harassment: - ok
so -so review, Mostly common sense. But a few good tips on mounting a counter attack although it doesn't let you know the practicalities of enforcing the FDCPA, namely that federal and state agencies typically don't respond to your complaints except with a form letter and no action.

5-0 out of 5 stars Empowering!

5-0 out of 5 stars Empowers Producers Against Moochers and Looters
From the aptly named Galt Press comes the Complete Guide to Asset Protection Strategies by Mark Warda, Attorney at Law.In modern America, no one remains safe from frivolous lawsuits.A person's entire life savings can vanish overnight thanks to a tort system that rewards envy and careless living. The American legal system authorizes tort lawyers to work on contingency fees with no penalty other than wasted time if they lose but huge payoffs if they win. This arrangement encourages the filing of frivolous lawsuits against easy yet wealthy targets.According to the author:
5-0 out of 5 stars Readable overview ofa variety of asset protection techniques
Describes a number of asset protections strategies, and for the real estate owner, explains how to combine the strategies together to potently isolate your liabilities and defend your assets. Read together with his book on land trusts.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Regurgitation of Old Ideas
I was very disappointed with this book, and only after reading it did I find out that Warda doesn't even practice in the area of asset protection, but instead just cranks out "self-help" type book (over 60, according to his own plug). The old phrase "Jack of All Trades, Master of None" seems to be particularly applicable to Mr. Warda's knowledge of asset protection, which translates into little more than a re-write of other (now outdated) works from last century. I guess you'll buy this if you want the entire Warda-on-everything collection, but take a pass if your specific interest is asset protection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The new edition is better than the previous two
These guys have provided the new update that was needed.I made money on the first edition, but there have been some changes and they have covered them.Morgan came out with a report saying pretty much the same thing a couple of months back.It would be hard to lose money if you take the book's advice per the report. This book really gets you through the technical stuff with ease.Money well spent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Terrific Introduction into Bankruptcy Investing
Great introduction and overview of the world of distressed and bankruptcy investing. The authors managed to synthesize a very complicated subject into an easy-to-read and understandible book.Of course no one book can cover the entire subject in detail, but this one comes amazingly close.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous book
This book has everything I needed to make money in this market. They do need to update their data and bring it forward, but the analysis is first rate and the methodology was very new to me although quite understandable in plain english for someone without a law degree or an mba.I now understand what is going on here and I can see how the vulture investors get the large returns.I reread the first part after several months of buying and it all still held together.Interesting and moneymaking as well. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Handbook for Managers, not investors
Although helpful and well written, the book appears more appropriate for executives or managers of operating companies that may be faced with bankruptcy prospects.A good overview of how the process unfolds, players, objectives, legal issues, and procedures is provided.Managers at a financially distressed operation typically carry a different toolbox of experience and skills, and therefore, this book would be well worth the introduction to the topic.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very practical reference, "thin" on theory and case studies
Very useful and convenient reference guide for restructuring bankers / distressed debt investors.Probably too generic for experienced bankruptcy attorneys. The text and examples are efficiently presented and the author does a superb job of distilling the bankruptcy code into an easy-to-read format. The chapter on valuation is nothing more than the common stuff you read in any corporate finance book.A case study and a more extensive discussion on bankruptcy term sheets and negotiation tactics would have made this book more praiseworthy. ...
