the nice guy finaly finishes first
I just read the book iWoz. If you are a Mac-head, or just a computer geek who is intrigued by the origins of the PC industry, thisbook is definately a must-read. It gives a great, human approach to the subject of Steve Wozniak, inventor, and the people in his life who helped draw him out and create the Apple I, the computer that really signified the true arrival of small, affordable computers for the masses. The prose is written in a very informal and relaxed style, as if Steve is sitting across from you and telling you his story himself. I found it very engaging. I am a very tough critic, but this is definately a book I will read again.

Gives you a great sense of the Woz.
This is an excellent book about a truly interesting and innovative man. It provides real insight into his work, his style and his personality. I had the pleasure of seeing Steve on his speaking tour and I was really impressed by how the book captures his style, tone and spirit. Steve has a real childlike quality to him which shows through alternatively as playfulness, humor, goofiness and innocence.He also has a long history with promoting education and teaching.
Great Promise but Poor Delivery
The real problem with the book is that it's packaged and sold as an adult book but it's actually a children's book. Stories are toned down for the child audience and at one point, even self-censored, as not being appropriate for a "family audience," as though Woz imagines the family drawn up around father's easy chair to listen to the evening reading. As if... The book ends, as all good children's books do, with the ending that he hoped his twelve-year-old audience will be as lucky as he was...sort of a go though and do likewise.

Lots of good ideas, but not the whole story
I've been trying to organize my life for over 20 years, and have read innumerable books on the subject. While each one has offered something to add to the puzzle, none of them has told the whole story.

EC 301 Intermediate Micro
Easy to read, at least more so than accounting.If you can afford it, buy it.

Unneccessarily Long
This textbook takes microeconomics which can be explained in a technical, exact manner and makes it abstract and foreign.
A good book for intermediate level students
Organization of the books is good. Topics are discussed with enough clarity and each topic comes with lots of graphs and illustrations (which I think are a great help at that level). The level of algebra and math is at an intermediate undergraduate level (economics major). I think it is a complete book for anybody who wants to have an understanding of microeconomics. I am a Ph.D. student of economics now and if I am going to teach an undergrad micro course, I will certainly choose this textbook. ... Read more

Informative business guide to strategy
I bought this book for a college class and kept it. While it is not the most exciting book, the case studies are an excellent guide to a wide range of business plans and strategies. The cases are divided into four categories: single business companies, diversified companies, implementing and executing strategy and ethics & social responsibility. The cases are very complete and interesting. The downside is the shelf life of the book - I would expect a new edition before long.

Student Review
I am a student majoring in Business Administration who recently used this text in an upper-level management course.The book's writing is utterly superfluous.Boredom was frequently my sentiment as I weeded through unnecessarily labyrinthine sentences.The ideas in the book were occasionally interesting, but were usually ideas I had already developed on my own via simple intuition.Perhaps the most valuable part of the text is the section of case studies.This closing segment of the book contains many great ideas for student projects.Overall, this text disappoints me as a student

Helpful Insight
I've been on a leadership book kick lately, and this is one of my all-time favorites. It's short, easy to read, and is one of the best explanations of cognitive dissonance for the layman I've ever seen. It doesn't work for everybody though - some people are turned off by the "fable" format and simple writing style. I still find it very helpful, and it's the kind of book that can have a dramatic impact on some of its readers. It certainly does a good job of making the point that by focusing on our own behavior we can make any situation better.

Not About Leadership
This book is not really about leadership.It is about being nice to people.And remember, any problem you have with another person in life is your fault.So, apologize, start over, and be nice.

One more book to help corporate America
Oh my, one more motivational speaker, one more book about helping corporate America pad its pockets while its workers are supposed to ignore the core greed and put a smile on their faces and be Freds while the big shots benefit. Sorry, this just doesn't resonate with workers today who see their "profit centers" being sucked dry by the big home office and they are supposed to chin up and be a Fred regardless of the way the big boys (and ladies) are destroying the company they work for. Let's hope Fred is still practicing the Fred Factor when he shows up at WalMart or Dollar General looking for a job because his work has been outsourced, his branch consolidated or his job merged with three others.
I know the author and he lives his message
Lots of people learn good ideas about successful living and restate them for others, but not so many actually put them into practice in their own lives. Mark Sanborn lives his message. The Fred Factor is not just stories from an author. It is also life wisdom from a practitioner. Mark's personal and professional life, when viewed over two decades (as I have), are inspiring. He's the kind of guy you want living in your neighborhood and whose kids you want playing with your kids.
Simple and Powerful!
This was a great book on several levels.First, it was fun to read.I love the story of Fred.Second, it had some very powerful business concepts.What I love about them is that they aren't complicated or difficult to put to use.It really took me back to basics - the things I have to do to be successful with my clients.Third, Fred reminded me of things I need to do and confirmed many things that I always knew I should do. Highly readable, useful, and even inspiring
What happens when an organization needs to change (if it hopes to be successful in the future) but hasn't put much thought into what the process of change itself looks like?More than likely: failure.
Read it too late
This book is excellent for anyone going through or planning to make changes in any organization. The material is straight forward, concise, and right on target. I only wish I had read this book last year before attempting to make major changes in our organization

The Power Of Nice:How To Conquer The Business World With Kindness
This is a wise and meaningful book. It's full of examples where niceness makes an active difference in high pressure business envoronments. There's alot to be learned from it and, nicely, they've made it fun to read.

Great book , short and sweet
I received this book as part of a [...]. It took me about an hour and a half to read the whole book. It is a great book, very simply and succintly written. The ideas presented are some that we were always taught in school but probably failed to follow somewhere along the way. It teaches us to be good to others , even if they are our enemies, because what goes around , comes around. If you do good to others , it will come back to you. The nice cubes are especially helpful. I have noticed that I do make a conscious effort on my part every day to be good to others at work and at home even if I dont have to. It makes my day go better :)
Good book, Poor cover
Stuck in LA . Flight delayed,Desperate for a short but useful book. The last book I wouldnormally pick is one with a smiley face. Glad I did. The book's Big Idea: we are all connected and when we do one nice thing it spreads and rebounds---in often very unexpected ways---to our benefit. You Catch a Glimpse of the Man
Business memoirs are usually way too self serving to tell you anything useful, but this one is an exception. Weill has many dramatic stories and, despite the co-author, conveys enough of what appears to be his real thoughts to be interesting. This is one of the toughest and wiliest - no pun - players on Wall Street, but one actually feels for him when he describes the trap New York attorney-general Spitzer set for Citigroup just as Weill thought the bank's legal problems were under control. Analyst Grubman's emails were leaked, the scandal was all over the press, but Weill and Citigroup couldn't really respond. He was like a mouse trying to dodge a menacing cat, while forbidden to make any noise. So powerful a chief executive was forced into a pitiful situation--yet the government didn't have a case with the Grubman revelations and nothing came of it. In the meanwhile, Citigroup's stock tanked. Some poor innocent investor who happened to own it lost money as the prosecutors played with Weill until they decided there was no case against him. Life isn't fair and the government much less so. Not that Weill has reason to complain, all in all: he went to the bank and came out with a fortune. As distinguished a career as possible, through the ups and downs and despite the tribulations toward the end with Spitzer. Definitely worth reading.

Not much to learn
I found his advises similar with what I knew since my childhood (save money, invest to bring you more money, don't spend much, real estate is good, etc). It does not give tips on what "rich" people know (at least I suspect they would know more). Like how and where to get valuable information. How to buy stocks, what to look for, nothing of that. May be inspirational book for some, a poor kid who became rich... Tells 100 times the same things, annoying at some point.
"Good" Salesman; QuestionableBook
RICH DAD, POOR DAD seems contradictory in more than one way:economically and philosophically.Probably, Kiyosaki's most inviting, yet deceptive, chapters is Eight, "Overcoming obstacles."Here, he is at his most fervent; one can feel he believes what he is writing is true.But it is not necessarily true about life itself.

Find out what type of person you are when confronted with change.
This book can identify to all categories of people and how they react to change.I think at some point I have played all roles when someone has moved my cheese.I think I should read this book on an annual basis to remind myself of which mouse I would like to be.

Confrontational, enlightening but too simple
This book uses two mice and two little people who look like mice to make a serious point.How do you respond to change?In Who Moved My Cheese?, we see those who immediately seek a new viable option, those who move forward only when a situation is life threatening, and those who refuse to budge.Isn't this what we see in everyday life?My biggest concern about this book is that the question provided to deal with the fear that stops us from moving forward is "What would I do if I wasn't afraid?" This is an example of repressive coping, and does not deal with the reason for the fear, and does not resolve the fear.To learn how to best deal with troublesome feelings that stop us from making the most of our lives,I recommend Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self.I recommend each of these books.

From a network administrator's perspective
I read this book as part of my first course in a Ph.D.-MIS program. I thought it was a great overview and history of MIS, and provided insight into alternative IS management styles and strategies. The case studies were relevent, current, well written and interesting. I recommend this book for all network and systems administrators. It gives insight into what thought processes should be occurring at the CIO and IS manager levels.

Great paperweight, good consolidation of other people's work
This book provides various sources of information but no analysis by the book's authors.It is a patch work of case studies, excerpts, and paraphrasing of other texts to which I hope the original authors are getting paid royalties for. Ideal for learning about IS management
I bought this book for my MSc in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems and I consider that it was extremely helpful. The chapter about the perspectives of IS and the role of the CIO are very interesting. In the chapter about Information Systems Planning, they included lots of concepts related to strategy, linking IS Planning with six different approaches/techniques: Stages of Growth, Critical Success Factors, Competitive Forces Model, Value Chain Analysis, Internet Value Matrix and Linkage Analysis Planning. The chapters about managing systems development are really instructive also. I strongly recommend the book for those IT practitioners whom are seeking a managerial position. I cannot claim to be an expert in the wealth creation literature outside the US, but I am inclined to think that the principles are the same everywhere.

The Recipe for Success is Universal
This is definitely a book for those who realize they have to change their mindset to break out of the blueprint they've been dealt from parents, family and community.There are so many underlying thoughts and sabotages that we put on ourselves everyday.Each one continues to bring us back to a level that is usually inconsistent with our goals.I talk to many people during the course of the day and I find that too many people have goals that they'll never achieve because of the type of thinking they do on a daily basis.

Define your core business clearly

This is not a terrible book- it has some interesting case studies which the authors use to prove their points. However, there is not a great deal in here that is new if you've read the sequel to this book first ("Beyond the Core", Zook), and have read other
Very Realistic and very useful
This book is very good, it explains very clearly the different growth concepts with clear definitions, and a very interesting growth matrix. in addition, unlike other books, this book uses a lot of real world examples to illustarte the different concepts and growth startegies. It explains how companies, that succeded, evolved from their core business and developed new products without getting lost in the process. Also, explains why and how some companies failed. The book is realistic, and gives you some tools and matrix that you can apply when analyzing and developing a growth strategy. Ehrenreich is the kind of journalist I despise. One who thinks her insights are so important that it doesn't matter how much she inconveniences others to make her point.
Bring your own grain of salt.
This is not a bad book, but it's not a good one. Although I certainly gained some insight from reading this book, I was disappointed (and surprised) by Ms. Ehrenreich's (or the editor's?) lack of fact-checking/ attention to detail, and/or embellishment.

A message that outlasts time
Yesterday I was reminded of this awesome little book after interviewing someone who listed it as one of his favorite business reads. George S. Clason's "The Richest Man In Babylon" is one of the best books I have ever read.
Everything you'll ever need to know about money?
I have read and re-read Clasons book, and I honestly believe that his simple, thought provoking and powerful story, contains all the truths one has to learn about when it comes to the subject of money.
Simple, effective, and very powerful.
Here is a book written for literally anyone who wants to learn lessons for life on how to get rich. And for all those desperados out there dreaming of getting fantastically rich with ridiculously little effort: here is your guide. You will learn that making money and getting rich isn't hard at all, but it requires a little discipline. There are only a handful of tips given in this book, but they are sufficient to make a real difference in your wallet and a real difference in your life!
