5-0 out of 5 stars excellent style
Books concerning Elliot Wave in Taiwan, no matter it is a translation version or the texts used by many teachers in teaching technical analysis, never have the style that
1-0 out of 5 stars very difficult
Very hard to understand, if you can read, understand and enjoy this book at all you could probably give the boys a hand in Egypt with the Hieroglyphics ........If you enjoy scientology well this one's for you!!!!!!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars like learning to ride a bike
You really don't need this level of detail for Elliot wave trading to increase your P&L.Like any other trading systems, elliot waves mostly work except when it doesn't. Without years of experience and gains and losses you won't have the confidence to make a huge P&L.Buy a simpler book unless you are really into Elliot Waves.Enjoy the third waves. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Content is disaapointing
This book is not worth your time.It covers the most basic material, and full of clichés, generalities and fallacies. If you are over 20 years old and if you actually find something new in this book, then you definitely shouldn't be investing in real estate. You might get lucky when the tide is rising, but you will likely loose it all.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good overall picture but light on specifics
I was hoping for more details on the different types of real estate transactions while the book is more focused on just getting you excited about real estate and getting started.Pretty good if you need something to lift you up and get you going but very light on details - models discussed are very high level.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Millionaire Real Estate Investor
Great book, it's not just a bunch of fluff like some other books are. The book breaks the process down and give's you good outlines follow. Also has some inspiring story to motivate you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars must buy
It's a must buy for people in high-yield/distressed analysis. I was suggested this book at my first day at work.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Complete Introduction
The premise of this book is really quite simple.
5-0 out of 5 stars Valuable insights, useful commentary, and professionally written.
Like many of us, perhaps you've owned some bonds that have fallen into junk status or worse, distress/bankruptcy.In most cases, did you throw up your arms either selling at a loss or confused by smallprint mail solicitations?Stephen Moyer is an absolute pro and de-mystifies what some may think of as a blackbox only understood by investment specialists, asset pirates, and/or bankruptcy lawyers.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Psychology of Hedge Fund Trading
After 30 years as an manager and researcher with Morgan Stanlety, and 3 or 4 years as a "hedgehog" (a hedge fund manager), Barton Biggs give us this entertaining memoir of his professional life. Mostly consists of chapters profiling leading investment figures under fictional names. Really interesting to see how even the hottest, smartest, and most driven investors come to grief on a consistent basis; that includes the author himself, who confesses here to some of his mistakes such as shorting oil when it kept going up. Lots of sleepless nights and anxiety in the business, although apparently even the no-talent hacks can make at least 150K a year, and many of the more talented are billionaires. Many of the hotshots in the professional investing world sound like narcissistic cranks in Biggs' description, but entertaining cranks to read about. Like Lefevre's classic REMINISCENCES OF A STOCK OPERATOR, this is mainly interesting for its insights into the psychology of trading.
2-0 out of 5 stars They called him a guru because they couldn't spell charlatan
In this book, Mr. Biggs does not discuss the fact that before he left Morgan Stanley he was unmasked as having fabricated comments used in his research reports (claimed to be from his plumber, Ron Valentine) [see NYT, May 21, 2000, Sec 3, p2]. Readers and potential readers of Hedgehogging should, however, remember. It explains the view smart investors have had of Mr. Biggs for some time: he is mildly entertaining, but not someone you should use for serious advice. And above all: never give him any money.
3-0 out of 5 stars Two quick points from this book to give a sample
One anecdote here involves "Michael," a pseudonym for an investor Mr. Biggs admired, and hired, while he (Biggs) was at Morgan Stanley.

5-0 out of 5 stars its a perfect strategy for the 21st century: for all MNCs to follow
A new approach which in fact is so easy but psychologically so difficult to accept. We have tried it out and and observed companies doing it since 16 years: to design and market low end products for the "Bottom of the Pyramid" (BOP) with high profit margins at low cost. We have developed a tool which we call MMP or Multiple Market Positioning which shows step by step how to implement this BOP idea successfully. 2-0 out of 5 stars Venerable ButMisleadingAdvice
IMO this book's advice can prove costly.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Cornucopia for the Serious Trader
If longevity is a key to greatness, Gerald Appel has achieved it.When I got into the business in the mid-seventies, he was an admired technical analyst. His publication, Systems and Forecast, was required reading. The inventor of MACD, he has lived to see his technique used by virtually every serious investor and trader; it is included in most trading programs.
5-0 out of 5 stars 30 years of wisdom in one setting
For novices interested in technical analysis, there is so much material here it might seem overwhelming. But believe me, the effort at exploration is worth it.I've been successfully applying Appel's work since 1984, and this all-encompassing treatise was like looking over his shoulder, soaking in his 30 years of wisdom on the markets.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you'd like a serious headache, buy this book.
I made the mistake of choosing this book as this text for an undergraduate finance course because it is used by the New York Society of Financial Analysts in their portfolio management class.Don't make the same mistake!!Part One is very informative and gives the reader practical information and advice. The rest of the book is terrible. The equity section concentrates on Modern Portfolio Theory--the Efficient Fronter, co-variation, efficient markets, blah, blah, blah. While Value Investing is mentioned (barely), it is almost an afterthought and it's certainly frowned upon.I wonder how poor investors like Warren Buffet and Seth Klarman have made any money at all using the Value Investing approach.I found the section on bonds and fixed income portfolio management interesting but difficult to follow.I traded corporate and municipal bonds for 20 years. If I had not had such a background, I would have been totally confused. If you are a quantitative GENIUS, this book MAY help you.If you are not, you can choose another book and learn much more.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor
This is a poorly written finance text. It is not organized and unclear in some sections. I have a degree in Finance, and I would never recommend this book to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Knowing your subject and knowing how to teach it are different things
The authors no doubt know Investment analysis. Unfortunately they don't communicate that information too well. Frequently happens when Phd's forget they are writing to students, not other Phd's. Bought this book for a senior level finance course, required to complete my major in finance.

3-0 out of 5 stars I have alot of respect for this guy, but...
Mr. Graham should have been a law professor because that is exactly how his book reads. His main determination of value takes about 30 chapters to develop and in the end it is nothing more than an average P/E ratio, over the past 10 years, used as a multiplier to determine future profitability. Aside from that, his formula definitions are vague; as is alot of the text.
5-0 out of 5 stars The father of Analysis
It's an absolute classic. It defined analysis.I don't see how any analyst wouldn't want to read this book. It's my favorite book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A true classic
I have read this book twice now - one time is certainly not sufficient to absorb all of its wisdom - ten times probably would not suffice. There are some people who question whether this book is still relevant because it was published over half a century ago.I doubt they ever took the time to read it, or if they read it, I doubt that they really thought about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This will change the way you think about finances!
This book blew me away with the concepts and idea's.It has completely changed how I will approach my mortgage and other retirement savings in the future. The concepts at a high level make a lot of sense.Getting down to the details on how to put all of these concepts together becomes more difficult.I recommend this book to everyone.I really enjoyed it. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars good but cryptic
i studied from this book for the CAIA exam. while it presented some very fascinating approaches and ideas for me, keeping in mind i am not a practising arbitrageur yet, it was very poorly edited and written in general.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Primer on the subject
As a technologist charged with implementing a convertible arbitrage fund, this book was incredibly helpful.By reading it, I learned enough about the strategy and how it works to have intelligent conversations with portfolio managers and analysts and understand what needs to be done to make it work. The book covers the Greeks and why they matter, and gives explanations of the strategies that are easily understood, but whose details are laid out in sufficient depth that the layperson might not be able absorb them all the first time through.
2-0 out of 5 stars Do it yourself: no need for this book
I have not read this book, but if you are really serious about arbitrage you should be able to write a program, that simulates the Black-Sholes model using discrete mathematics and random walk.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...like giving or getting Galileo's book on the solar system as a Christmas gift in 1632
My professional work involves evaluating money managers and trying to "understand" a manager's skill vs luck and where the manager might fit in an overall portfolio. So I have spent 30+ years slashing my way through the jungle made by academics who think they can put markets and reality into nice, predictable models; and worse, listening to the sales pitches of money managers and other financial salesmen who want you to believe they are predictably worth paying very high fees and subjecting your money to untold risks.
3-0 out of 5 stars interesting but too long and arrogent
The author has some interesting things to say on randomness and probability and how it effects our day to day life. However what could have been an interesting long essay does not a book make! Furthermore he is really annoying in the way he makes snide and unjustified remarks about various people. For example - he may think Buffet is a lucky fool and he may be right (I do not understand the markets enough to judge this one). However he doesn't stop there. He goes on to attack Buffet for living a moderate life style (so what) and ends with musing if money isn't importent for Buffet why doesn't he become a monk or a social worker. Well this was before Buffet gave away most of his fortune and I hope Taleb is suitably shamed. I suspect this guy is fueled by envy and probably an inferiority complex (as he comes across as sooo superior).
3-0 out of 5 stars Oh, what could have been
As someone with a taste for statistical theory, this one was disappointing.Taleb is constantly casting around for what exactly he wants to write about.Yes, he passably develops his theory that people read far too much into random events. He does this through a series of personal stories, which unto themselves are entertaining. But, it's never clear if he's writing an autobiography or discussing randomness and I came away from this book no more enlightened about randomness than I had been before. If you are a novice in the area and are looking for a light introduction on the subject, it's a good book.If you're already familiar with the concept of randomness, don't bother. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars A lot of nothing
This book has very little to teach you and it's virtually unreadable. Make sure you read one or two pages before you buy in case you are like me and you can't stand his style.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great, but Swensen's New Book is Better
This book covers the HOW and WHY of diversification. While everyone claims to understand diversification, there have been few individuals or institutions that have actually applied the concepts as well as Swensen.
4-0 out of 5 stars solid primer on institutional money management
Swenson's reputation was made by the investment results he has generated, which in turn are based on good insights and steely discipline in managing a portfolio. That said, he could have used an editor on this book. His prose style is almost a mockery of a business presentation - here's what he's going to say, he says it, and then a recap of what he said.Still, his style, with its absolute emphasis on clearly communicating to the reader, is a huge improvement over quasi-academic articles in the Journal of Finance.

5-0 out of 5 stars 21 Things I Wish My Broker Had Told Me: Practical Advice for New Real Estate Professionals
This book is very practical and a must read for all people considering a career as a real estate professional. Specifly describes the expectations of new agents and what is needed to survive the first year in the profession.
5-0 out of 5 stars No. 1 Classic "Must Read"
This book was named the No. 1 classic "Must Read" by National Association of Realtors publication readers in June 2006. Working agents and longtime educators know how valuable this book is for new agents because of its honest, straightforward look at what they need to know to succeed. You will, too.
1-0 out of 5 stars I wish someone told me NOT to buy this book!
I have probably read a dozen or more books on being successful in sales and most have been a waste of time. These people that write these books and hold seminars rarely give you any worthwhile information.Remember, the way they actually GET successful is by selling everyone else their books and tapes on HOW to be successful.I have yet to find anyone who is truly successful at their business and has passed their secrets on to anyone else. Why would they? Then you would be their competition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
Dale Carnegie is one of the authors I have admired for so long. There are numerous reasons why this book is a classic one. He deeply believes that in every person there is good and you can approach it. Of course, there are many negative people who don't like this book because they see everything in black and white. Carnegie on the other side advocates a really delicate, positive and humane approach to everyone around you. It comes very close to "treat the others as you want them to treat you". I am sure that if everyone read and apply the principles in this wonderful book, the world will be a better place. I am sure that you will be pleased as well with his talent to really understand what drives people. Some of the key and basic motivators he discussed are sex and being important. His viewpoint is very close to the one of the bestselling author of scientfically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex. After all genius things are usually simple. Carnegie explores the human nature and common hot buttons together with the reader and gives you tools to manage and push them at your will with the help of numerous examples. I liked that the book is practical, easy and fun to read, and most of all that it delivers great value. I can not say the same for many other books. Definitely get a copy especially if you are a "good" person and prefer to treat people with respect and dignity.

If everyone in the world read this book just once, it would be such a more enjoyable place to live in...

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic of Self Help Genre
This book may be the one that Created the genre. And what was true then is just as true today. One of the loveliest parts about this book are the stories and anecdotes from the time when it was written. It was a simpler time back then. And the people faced such different dilemas than we do today.Yet, the more things change, the more things stay the same. The humanity of this books comes through loud and clear. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Leading edge finance - not for wimps!
Cochrane provides a detailed text at the leading edge of Finance. It is written in an informal manner from one who loves Finance, to others who love Finance. As such, it is not an introduction to the field or "Pop Finance for Dummies".That said, it can bring one with a strong background in math and moderate background in Finance to the leading empirical edge of Asset Pricing.Although written in a light manner, each chapter requires several readings to understand.Definitely not for wimps!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too chatty for serious Scientists ??
The critic in this title was made by some reviewers below, andis the most dumb critic i have ever read.
3-0 out of 5 stars A great book with some downsides
No doubt this is a great book and you can check that most finance departments adopted it as the main text for doctoral asset pricing course. Cochrane is one of the biggest names in finance academia.
