5-0 out of 5 stars Psychology of Trading
I am a relatively new currency trader, and started reading this book after loosing some money. It perfectly parallels some of my behaviour and gave me insight on how to change my trading (and my life) in order to avoid repating past errors.I highly recommend this book for any trader.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a call to action
This is a great call to action for those of us that have analysis paralysis. You will either take action or throw this book across the room.I recently returned from a Robert Allen Enlightened Wealth Retreat where I met several, and I mean more than a few dozen ordinary people that took action. One couple amassed over a million dollars in just 90 days. One couple has made 10 million in Real Estate in the past 3 years. Many folks made over $100k in a few months enough to quit the J.O.B. So this is real stuff my friends, I witnessed it myself.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
This one is much more practical than Rich Dad Poor Dad, which is more of an inspirational book whereas this one is more step by step to get you going.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another GREAT book Robert!
I have enjoyed all nine of your books and give this one 5 stars. I think that this is a must have for all investors or beginners. If you like the down to earth approach that is easy reading for all people you found it in RObert's latest book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A major contribution to technical analysis
Mr. Bollinger's book is unusual as books on technical analysis go. No promises of instant wealth here: rather, at the outset, Bollinger tells the reader that the marketplace is an uncertain arena. His view is that the old dictum "Buy low, sell high," is best viewed in relative terms, and he draws our attention to others who have seen the world somewhat similarly, such as Albert Einstein and Oliver Wendell Holmes. The author's stated "other view" is that "Rational Analysis" is the most (dare I say it?) rational way to approach investing. Rational Analysis, in this context, is the blending of fundamental analysis - balance sheets, product lines and such for stocks or carry-over stocks and acres planted for grains, for instance - with technical analysis. Mr. Bollinger has promised us another book dealing with Rational Analysis, and in this book he focuses entirely on the technical side.
5-0 out of 5 stars Measuring Volatility
It is interesting how things all of a sudden things come together in a Martin Gardner ah-hah! sort of moment.(I wish I had those more often).Anyway, I was developing a trading strategy and was being stymied with coming up with a method for filtering side-ways movements from trending movements. It suddenly dawned on me that this is what volatility is all about.I've been reading much on options and how volatility is an integral part of option trading. There was just so much to assimilate in analyzing options that the simple truth escaped me.High volatility begats low volatility and low volatility begats high volatility. (Among other things)Low volatility leading to high volatility forms the basis for Bollinger's Squeeze Play, otherwise known as the Volatility Breakout Trade. The Squeeze Play is one of three methods Bollinger has cooked up to show the benefits of Bollinger Band utilization.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good bk about BB, but nothing extra wrt other TA books
It's nearly impossible for any technical analyst to neglect BB with its assessibility, and it's so logical to learn the tool or expect to get the most of it from the inventor himself. With regard to this book, the good things are: The author did not promote his tool as something invincible. He talked about the limitations of and warned readers of the need for continuous revision. Very smooth writing and an easy read. The bad things are: BB is not really a sophisticated tool at all. So the author had "filled" it up with some stuff that seemed light or marginally helpful to readers who had read over five trading books. I am afraid that comprises of most of the potential buyers coz I think it's hard for novices to spend over thirty bucks for a book that talks only of one single TA tool. Furthermore, I really cant acquire extra knowledge of BB from this book that distinguishes it from other TA books I read before.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for starting a software business
It is because I am an entrepreneur and a capitalist that I got into Forex trading. Therefore I must admire and respect those who achieve monumental success such as James Dicks. And I actually enjoy reading a book or e-book that is a good sales letter for another product. People who resent such things would do well to go through T.Harv Eker's Millionaire Mind training and other such wealth consciousness training. However, I think most people in the Forex world now realize that Forex Made Easy is a software that produces green arrows for a buy signal and red arrows for a sell signal. The programming behind the software, I am told, is based on a simple signal that is taught in at least a similar form in many introductory trading courses. Following the signal requires users to remain ignorant of all the other factors that could eliminate most of the losses. Many people who started out with Forex Made Easy have told me that they did not start learning to trade until they went on to other sources of training. I believe that Forex Made Easy may not have ever had their customer's best interest nor their success as a motivating factor when creating the company. They have made a huge amount of money with late night TV commercials and high pressure "free introductory seminars".

5-0 out of 5 stars Capital, a must read
If you are an investor and haven't learned of the advantages of the American Funds Family of Mutual Funds and its parent, Capital Reasearch and Management Company, this is a must read.Capital Research and Mngmt is a quiet company, they do not advertise, they do not sit for interviews or do press releases. They only manage money, period. As a result, they do it better than anybody. This book is the only place you will get in-depth information about the company short of visiting a broker who is equally enlightened.Discovering an equally enlightened broker, may I say, is rare to find in its own right.Rich people know about this company, but finding a rich person who will talk is equally difficult.Just read it, you'll see.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tedious at times, but a worthwhile read
I read this book on the advice of my investment advisor. The first half was tedious but the second half was packed with valuable information about a great company. This is stuff that I can use in my own business, and I don't regret the time that it took to wade through the early chapters.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Subject...Lousy Book!
What a great story! Capital Group has one of the most amazing long-term performances and is one of the most unique organizations in the industry! But this book just stinks. I can barely believe the Charlie Ellis wrote this. It's completely disjointed. There's no structure at all. It's like they just published his notes. He skips across generations within a single paragraph. He contradicts himself. About 150 of the 300 pages is fluff and adds nothing to the story. About 1/3 of EVERY page is footnotes that add nothing. He references chapters within the same chapter. It's just terrible. It's obvious the publisher was just in a hurry to get the book out to make a buck off the mutual fund scandal before the hype died off. How ironic that Capital Group takes a long term approach, launching new funds against the tide, while the people at Wiley (by launching this book before it was ready) have shown themselves to be a bunch of short-sighted money grubbers. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great book!
This is the best book on structured equity products so far, it is fun to read but never trivial.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction & overview
This is still a great introduction to the subject. Being familiar with the majority of current financial 'engineering' texts, I can honestly say this is still a very good book. It does what it claims to do -and sticks to the intended audience.
3-0 out of 5 stars A nice book for starters...
This is definitely a very useful book for students taking financial engineering courses or complete newcomers in the aera of structuring. The book's written in a very clear and approachable manner and the author doesn't bother you with obscur mathematics. However, being myself a structurer of derivative products, I must unfortunately say that this book didn't really improve my knowledge in the field of structuring. But since I believe that Dr. Kat's main objective was to primarily target newcomers in the area of structured products, and not any professionals working in the business, I still think that the book is a respectable achievement. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Review of Stochastic Volatility
This book is an excellent overview of all the work that has been done in the field of stochastic vol. There is no area of research that is not touched upon in the book. The mathematics is very dense and it requires a lot of digging through to get to the point. I would highly recommend the book as a reference book for stochastic vol. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I purchased this book about a week ago and have poured through it. I am new to the Forex market and find this book to easily understand. I focus more on Technicals when i trade rather than fundumentals but the fundamentals provided a new insight. I would highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to Forex
This book is a pretty thorough and informative introduction to Forex. Not only is it helpful for the many people just discovering the Forex market, but also it would benefit many people who are already trading other markets and perhaps think they know what the Forex market is.I believe that if traders of other markets really understood Forex beyond whatever rumors they have heard they would not be trading anything else. The authors cover everything from what the Forex market is through technical analysis techniques and money management. There is a most enlightnening section on the fundamental forces that move the market and how to use various economic data to predict the movement of Forex currency pairs. This book gives an unbiased introduction to Forex that will enable the reader to determine whether she would like to further explore this exciting subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT book
I've read two other books on trading the foreign exchange. I've been trading the forex successfully for several months now. After reading this book, I feel that I have several more tools in my arsenal for becoming even MORE successful. The authors present a common sense approach to trading/investing that I didn't receive in the other two books. They take some complex economic topics and break them down into very easy to understand, bite sized pieces that just about anyone can understand. They also lay out a few very good approaches that teach you to consistently make a LOT more money than you lose using some sound technical analysis. This book is VERY good for both beginners AND seasoned forex investors/traders. I give my highest recommendation. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but.....
I have started studying trading about three years ago and Forex specifically for about a year. I find Raghee to be honest and her methods to be simple and I can see how they would work if followed. I myself use Fibonacci levels and MACD and find that they work after a fashion like everything else in trading.

3-0 out of 5 stars good, but notwell written
This book is more quantitative than the author's other book, but it is still very basic. The author is also a little redundant in his writing. He spends a lot of time talking about the different types of funds available, but not actually giving that much insight into how they are run.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Alchemy of Finance
Was recommended to my by an international banker friend. A bit of a tough read , esp til you understabd what is "reflexivity".A well-written book that any one with a few dollars should read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ideas, put them in practice, made...zero money!
Not Soros fault of course.More down to my trading.Great read though and some nice ideas about how market sentiment works or should work.Another Besife Tonwe recommendation to our book club.

1-0 out of 5 stars A diatribe from a Billionaire
I first read this book in 1994 and remembered it being unuseful and his kitchen-talk economics being superficial. So, 11 yrs later I picked it up again believing that it was my own lack of understanding and maturity that made me under-appreciate Soros. But, I was wrong.

2-0 out of 5 stars Unnecessarily Complex
Author devotes 2 pages to mathematically prove & philosophically justify that a manager should chose the highest NPV project before chosing the next highest NPV project.Such logic continues ad infinitum throughout the 800+ page text.Time for 3rd Ed.

2-0 out of 5 stars A finance textbook full of errors and holes
I am a postgraduate student in finance and this book is on my reading list for corporate finance. I must say that I am not very pleased with this book. First, it seems to skip around from chapter to chapter with no real logical organizational structure. Second, it is full of typos and mistakes -- some that are quite dangerous for a proper understanding of the material. Third, it does not develop fully the statistically techniques in Chapter 4 that it builds on in later chapters. This is a major problem in my opinion. What saves this book from the lowest rating is that it does discuss empirical studies and journal articles, and it does not do an entirely awful job about the more qualitative subjects like adverse selection and capitalization policy.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Approach to Corporate Finance
After reading the reviews for this book, I feel obligated to write a review, although I will admit a bias since one of the co-authors was a favorite professor of mine in college.

Picture this; it's the early 1900's, the dawn of the Roaring 20's. Gatsby like characters abound and are romanticized in the Saturday Evening Post, Horatio Alger rags to riches stories are all the rave. Along comes Jesse Livermore, a ballsy, throw caution to the wind and risk it all by leveraging it up to the hilt and letting it ride type of guy. It's a time when the market is on fire and behaves something like the late 90's but the regulators are nowhere to be seen. Charles Ponzi takes Boston by storm with his promises of 50% in 45 days with his Ponzi Notes and creates an all out frenzy engulfing what seems like half of the City.

1-0 out of 5 stars waste of paper
This book is a total waste of time.Stick to books by Pring, Murphy and Elder...
5-0 out of 5 stars Why and how to design a successful trading system
Thousands, if not millions, of people waste huge amounts of money and time every year searching for some get-rich-quick Holy Grail of trading.Tharp's somewhat misleadingly titled Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom is definitely not a get-rich-quick technique.Nor is it even a guide to analyzing the markets; there are no fundamental analysis approaches, no technical chart patterns, no quantitative formulae.Instead, Tharp offers something totally different and far more useful: he systematically describes why you should develop your own trading system and how you should go about building and testing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars For those who love going into the detail...
This is one of the best books I have read to date on Valuation. It spanks various methodologies and speaks to their differences. It goes into the detail and stays there to provide the depth necessary to get a intuative understanding.WARNING:not for those who do not like math. You can follow the derivations and I found it very good practice and reinforcement to learning the concepts.
2-0 out of 5 stars OK but very technical
Overall, the book covers relevant M&A material but it's difficult to read. Coming from a finance background, I was looking for a reference book to be used at work. There are other books that are more user-friendly. Recommendation: get Applied Mergers & Acquisitions from Wiley Finance instead; same topics but a pleasure to read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Purely for Reference
As an M&A finance practitioner, I am torn between giving this book a 3-star or 4-star rating. As many reviewers have noted, this is structured to be a reference book. There is more math than is typically needed or used in most small or medium-sized transactions, and there is very little introductory material for the uninitiated to get their bearings.Instead, the books delves straight into valuation exercises that are at times even more difficult than what I have encountered in the profession. The examples, while numerous and varied, are often reviewed much too quickly, and occasionally with so many permutations and small digressions that it is difficult to keep track of the purpose of the original endeavor. And as good students know, it is very hard to remember how to do something when you do not know *why* you are doing it. As such, it is difficult to recommend this book with much enthusiasm to anyone who does not at least have a few transactions under their belt because as a general guide it does not at all do the trick.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
Very good book, i think the chapters are organized in a way that an individual can understand the subject systematically, I would not highly recommend this book to a starter, but overall i was pretty satisfied

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent but Compiled Work
I have seven years of experience selling these products, and I use Fabozzi's book often. This is a good reference, and a good treatment of mortgage and asset backed securities.I only gave it four stars because the fact that this is a compiled work of research material interrupts the flow of ideas. On the other hand, there is some merit to getting different angles on the subject from different viewpoints.4-0 out of 5 stars A major reference
A vast collection of articles by practitioners on Wall Street, this book covers a broad number of topics on Mortgage Backed Securities. While not ascholarly approach, 'street research' typically aims to educate the fixedincome portfolio manager. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Could be better
I am an accounting major, but I think that finance is just as important in business and that is why I am taking a finance course. This book is pretty good for starters like myself, but the author should have more work problems to fine tune the skills needed to really grasp the concepts. I also feel that a student workbook would greatly help. The website for this book is also extremely limited and does not provide any additional help for people that purchase this book. I would not feel comfortable recommending this book to anyone wanting to get a basic knowledge of finance.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a good selection
This book provides a very useful guide in order to understand the basic theory about Investments. The only one thing that the writer of this book must do is to add is more demonstration problems.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pick a different text
There should be NO typos in a 9th edition. But go ahead and count them - not just in the text, but problems as well. There are times when formulas in the body of chapters are wrong or other times when you don't have all the info needed to answer one of the problems.Universities and instructors should be ashamed of themselves for making you spend $120 on this. ...
