5-0 out of 5 stars As always from Blanchard, a great book
I have been a (raving) fan of Ken Blanchard's for many years now, ever since I first read the One Minute Manager. As always, this book presents effective leadership lessons in small, bite-size chunks through story-telling.
5-0 out of 5 stars Secret Revealed
This book is a very easy and enjoyable read.It delivers everything promised including the SECRET. I would recomend it whether you own or manage a business or just belong to a local civic organization.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Story Filled With Solid Leadership Lessons
In "The Secret" Ken Blanchard and Mark Miller provide readers with a simplistic and enjoyable story that explains valuable lessons in leadership. This is not a gripping novel nor is it an in-depth explanation of leadership theory and practices. It is a palatable, memorable, and practical explanation of a serving model of leadership.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent text
I really enjoyed using this text book. It is clearly written and the student CD really helped me learn the material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent readibility and examples, did well in class
I purchased this book for a class where it was required, but saved $ by purchasing through amazon.I paid about $120 and see that the price has gone up in the last 2 months. This book seems long but is filled with examples of calculations and process.I found that reading the book gave me a clearer and more thorough explanation than even my teacher could give.I have learned a lot and would highly recommend this book to anyone trying to learn finance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Text For Beginners
I am a non-finance major and this book helped me get through the class very well. Not only does the author explain the material in common language, but it is an easy reader. My favorite part of the book is the CD that comes with it.It has a lot of interactive ways to learn the material, from quizzes to narrative Power Points. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tools for excellence
This book is set up for anyone to have many tools for them to use at anytime. It has flowcharting, public speaking, many diagrams, and several team based exercises to help become better. In the front of the book it has a tool selector, and it takes some of the guess work out of tool selection. This is just one of many great books this company offers. Our copmany uses several of these in our professional training with our clients. This is a really good book for those looking for continuous improvement. The Memory Jogger Plus is an excellent book also and has many great tools and other goodies.

I first used this as a high school student then later at university doing engineering. It's so worn it's due for replacement. Handy size, useful tools, practical. Worth every cent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Six Sigma style
Thank you for taking care of my order so quickly. You sent my Six Sigma book quickly and in perfect condition. You have kept your customer very happy. This is Six Sigma style.AAAA+.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Dummies guide, but not dumbed down
Authors Craig Gygi, Neil DeCarlo and Bruce Williams will attract both plaudits and brickbats for this book (no wonder they needed a foreword from Stephen Covey). Six Sigma, originally devised as a method for reducing production defects, has been elevated to a business cult whose jargon and methods are zealously guarded by a priesthood of consultants. This cadre is bound to regard skeptically any step toward making Six Sigma plain to the general business public. We recommends this manual because it successfully walks the tightrope between detailed technical analysis of Six Sigma methods and common sense terminology that is comprehensible to ordinary oxygen-breathers in the business world. Though it gets too heavy on statistics, it also avoids short cuts and fluffy Six Sigma-lite. The book does not delve into the recent trend toward using Six Sigma for carrying out change initiatives. However, given that its objective is to make professionals Six Sigma literate, this oversight is well within the acceptable range of variation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good guide, but can be confusing sometimes
This is a good book. It is crammed with lots of information that is specific to the loan industry. It is a comprehensive guide covering most of the aspects of the loan industry. I turn to this guide every now and then to check up on problems and questions that I run into with my loans.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for the new mortgage broker!
I wish I had found this book the very day I passed my state exam.It would have saved me much frustration and my confidence could have been boosted a lot sooner, which is key to succeeding in this business. This book is putting me equal to, if not ahead of many people who have been in the business for years.I'm shocked at how little people know and I'm pleased at how much I've learned from this book.Absolutely the best money I've spent on my new career!

I have become increasingly familiar with the work of Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner for the past 5 years and now they've taken Leadership to an even more exciting level. We all leave a legacy and have a choice of how we want people to remember us.It's the way we live and this is an inspiring resource to how we each can do that in the most positive way. This a great follow up to their insightful research of The Leadership Challenge and is filled with stories of how I can facilitate learning in others to not only take the challenge, but to also accomplish extraordinary results.Anyone can do it, and this book helps us learn how.I use it in every class I teach. This is a "must have" resource for anyone teaching leadership or wanting to learn more of the logical ways to simply move closer to living the legacy we desire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Do not pass GO, READ this book
I am a big fan of Pfeffer and Sutton. We refer to their "Smart Talk Trap" phrase and article in our book, "The Thin Book of Naming Elephants." So when I saw this title, I immediately ordered it.
5-0 out of 5 stars An End to Faddism!
The marketplace for business advice is crowded with conflicting advice, many of which are retreads of older versions claiming to offer breakthrough results. The "really bad news" is that breakthroughs rarely happen - the wise manager will not simply jump for what is in vogue.
4-0 out of 5 stars Back to management based on evidence
Jeffrey Pfeffer is Professor of Organizational Behavior and Robert I. Sutton is Professor of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. They are the author of business bestseller `The Knowing-Doing Gap' (2000). This book was published in 2006 and consists of 9 chapters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great leaders inspire others to lead
This book does a great job of focusing on Lincoln's leadership traits without get sidetracked on other aspects of Lincoln's life and times. This focus on leadership traits, combined with the relative short length of the book (about 170 pages) and the author's compelling writing style, make it a quick and delightful read.
5-0 out of 5 stars A New Appreciation for Lincoln
After reading this book, I have developed an entirely new appreciation for Abraham Lincoln. While always believing him to be one of the greatest leaders of the country, I never really grasped why he was a great leader until now.Phillips does a superb job here of gleaning Lincoln's leadership principles from the many details available regarding the 16th president's life.
4-0 out of 5 stars An interesting and helpful read!
Before my review, let's have a quick reference of it per chapters/principles delivered by the author.

2-0 out of 5 stars No Spark in this book...
After watching one of their performances, I wanted to read this book to find out more about Cirque du Soleil but this book left me frustrated.
3-0 out of 5 stars How much of The Spark is contrived?
I picked up this book at my library and as I read through it, found myself excited and inspired - at first. Then doubts began to creep in.Why was the narrator addressed as Frank (this was supposedly a first-person account by a sports agent named Frank Castle) when, on the book's coverit says "Created by Lyn Heward and written by John U. Bacon"?According to the inside-back cover of the dust jacket, Heward is "the former President and COO of Cirque du Soleil's Creative Content Division and is currently acting as executive producer for a variety of special projects."Bacon, is (same dust jacket inside-back cover) a veteran journalist and public speaker who's "won numerous writing awards and is the author of three books."Apparently this is his experience. But because this book chooses to give him a phony name, from here on in "Frank Castle" will be in quotation marks for your protection.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great for managers in any type of business

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for the novice Risk Manager
If you are a budding Risk Manager/ Officer or are considering a career move towards Risk Management, this book is a good high-level illustration of what the major sleeves of Risk Management has to offer.

4-0 out of 5 stars CS BOOK
Solid book on CS- long read!
5-0 out of 5 stars The book that was missing
This book fills in the empty space of academic books in CRM. Most of the publications and articles I've read deal with research on the subject and companies selling their programs. In this book Peppers and Rogers compiled a comprehensive text with theory, research and contributions from other authors that are a valuable tool for the under and graduate level.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!
This very extensive text on customer relationship management leaves nothing unsaid or unexplained. Authors and editors Don Peppers and Martha Rogers tackle the subject with admirable organization, clarity and depth. They define every important term and do not lose the reader in marketing jargon - a rare virtue in a book about marketing. The text, including contributions from other well-known experts in the field, propounds a well-developed theory of customer relationship management (CRM) and sets out numerous examples to illustrate, explain and clarify the theory. Useful as a handbook, textbook or reference manual, the book covers - among many other core subjects - customer identification and differentiation, customer feedback, an analysis of retailing and basic tools for CRM. We highly recommend this book to service-oriented managers and executives. To form profitable relationships with your customers, first get friendly with Peppers and Rogers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting perspective on business
Having owned a manufacturing business for 15 years, I was always focused on growth. Recently sold the business, and now looking for next venture/opportunity.
4-0 out of 5 stars Big bright stories about small great companies
Some companies intentionally stay small so that they can be the best at what they do. In the world of globalization, these companies oppose the trend toward unbridled growth. They want to be strong, local and contained. Magazine writer and author Bo Burlingham provides profiles, or "field reports," covering 14 "small giants" - companies whose hands-on leaders kept them small, involved in their communities and focused on quality. Burlingham sometimes takes you up close and personal with his characters, so you read about their divorces, kids, personal finances and how long they worked in the stock room, as well as about the history of their companies. This magazine-style level of personal detail makes it clear that his mission isn't to teach you how to run a small giant, but to explore the nature of locally rooted, passionately led, deliberately small companies. We find that the author's focus on unique privately held companies is very valuable for the leaders of small businesses, especially those who are deciding just how big they want their companies to become.

5-0 out of 5 stars There Are No Formulas for Greatness But Many Paths
Bo Burlingham, the best reporter on small business working today, has provided us a valuable insight by looking deeply at what makes some small companies great -- and telling us why this is important.I first read this book in February and decided it was worth a second read so I put it on that stack of select books. I recently completed a careful second read.I found it to be a much better book than I anticipated. Most business books can be skimmed and the usually obvious 'lessons' cataloged quickly but "Small Giants" needs to be read carefully. The lessons readers take away will vary according to their interests and point of view.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Executive's Management Guide that's long overdue.
One of the chronic problems to successfully implement and sustain a lean initiative is the confusion of management's role--how to be engaged and support beyond funding and verbal endorsement of a lean initiative. Surveys show a 56% success rate with lean. There is a crying need for a guideline for management to be aligned with the floor changes at ALL levels of management. This is key to developing a lean culture. The reason I like Mann's book is that he touches on things that aren't found elsewhere to developing a LEAN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. Companies typically will hire consultants in hopes of taking them to lean nirvana. But, for most orgs, there are two components that could hurt you: the recalcitrant manager(typically 15-20%) and the rest of the organization that want to be engaged but don't know their role. Both could doom your efforts. Mann's provides an excellent prescription to help you get management realigned with standard roles and specific daily tasks at all levels. Without this, you're dead. I only wish his book was better written to facilitate application. The content is practical but the format isn't--more visuals are needed and a too wordy--but, the goods are definitely there. You won't be disappointed; I still highly recommend this book.If you are looking for some guidelines for conducting a Gemba walk or developing an assessment (don't miss his Appendix) he goes into great detail.
