5-0 out of 5 stars A way to understand howspreading words works
As social science proffesional involved in the marketing field, I am continually dared -if not demanded- to explore entrepeneurial iniciatives to get on the edge of the competition and reach smarter and demanding customers to seed an idea and make it roll over the world, it is sure that task is not easy, and many of times even good ideas not suceed, why?
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent source of knowledge for innovation management
I have been using this book for years in research and teaching at the university level. There are other fine books that concern innovation diffusion and adoption but Roger's book is THE reference. Many of my students in information systems struggling to find a theory to study information systems have "adopted" parts of this book, especially the five factors that determine adoption, e.g., relative advantage, complexity and compatibility. A more tricky area is to categorise potential and actual adopters,e.g., who wants to be a laggard? I also like the discussion on "pro-innovation bias",i.e., that innovation is sometimes seen as a law-like process wich is not always the case. Some big companies' alleged "innovations" are not really needed by the users. This book should be valuable to all that are interested in change processes in social systems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
This is a trully magnificent and wonderfully-written book. It offers a thorough introduction to diffusion research and it is packed with a ton of illustrative applications that make the content seem relevant and not abstract to the reader. A must for anyone interested in diffusion of innovations (either technological or of political nature). Cant praise it enough. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for your sales education
First of all, a disclaimer.I've known Jeff Thull for six years and when I came to him I had been successful at selling.Six year later, my "game" looks nothing like it did back then.I now know that I was typical of most persuasive salespeople--one who talked too much, listened too little and relied on the very paradigm that Jeff so eloquently describes early in this book.I had been trained in the gold standards of my time, including Professional Selling Skills, Miller-Heiman, SPIN, Solution Selling, Target Account Selling and the like. When I failed to connect with my prospects on getting started, I frequently blamed it on the inability for them to understand my value offering, which caused me to think they weren't sophisticated enough to get it because I was certainly explaining it well.
5-0 out of 5 stars Stop Selling to Sell More
I sell ERP software in Southern California. The past year has been a real struggle-increased competition, a lot of no-decisions and long sales cycles. While I've been exposed to sales theories such as "Solution Selling" before, it's been a real struggle to implement it. I find myself slipping into "sales" mode too often.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is truly Exceptional
If you are a sales, business developer or account representative that sells complex services or products, this is a must-read that can't help but change your career in a very positive way.The strategic process and tactical how-to's included in this book are truly as the title suggests. They are Exceptional.Implementing this process will take you from a good consultative sales person to an excellent diagnostic business developer.I would strongly suggest not just reading this, but rather studying and implementing this if you want to see a behavioral change for the positive. The Prime Process described in the book promotes and requires genuine integrity by diagnosing a prospective client's situation to see if there are symptoms that require a need for the value of your offering.Salespeople can now discover early in the process if a prospective client is genuinely in need of their product or service long before they waste a lot of their own time as well as the client's time with an unneeded solution. With this in mind, long-term client loyalty is much more likely than with the typical "consultative" sales approach that most salespeople use.The framework for the process and the research done through multiple internal and external sources of client intelligence will allow you to formulate a value assumption (instead of a "canned" value proposition)that shows your prospective client respect and relevancy when it's time to get face-to-face with the "C-Suite" people. In a nutshell, the Prime Process is a four fold process of discover, diagnose, design and deliver.I've read dozens of business development, client loyalty and sales books and have attended a number of high-level sales courses...this one tops them all. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Stars for this Masterpiece!
Whewie! I had many reservations about buying this book. The previous reviews made me skeptical, especially when I looked at the price tag and acknowledged the fact that I was going to bleed to death reading a blah-blah boring has-been couple of spineless professors rant about their lame memoirs and anecdotes lazily collected by one of their pet clones.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Read!
To boost your sales group's performance, give your salespeople very specific assessments and instructions, as per authors Andris A. Zoltners, Prabhakant Sinha and Greggor A. Zoltners. The trouble here is that the instructions are not only detailed, they are highly technical. You have to see sales as a science to make the best use of the graphs, charts, lists, diagrams and formulas. If you can make your way through the academic writing, you'll find some useful hard data, such as statistical evidence that backs the need for precise sales performance assessments. Despite its lengthy retelling of some very basic sales principles, we recommend this manual to the audience its authors suggest, "sales managers, top managers, salespeople who want to advance professionally, divisional presidents and business owners" plus business school students. If you're going to be academic, you might as well learn something.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tips, Good Read
I loved this book, and I've read lots of eBay books. Unlike some other writers these guys give you the straight story--the good with the bad--and don't make a lot of pie in the sky promises. This really keeps you centered, and realistic.I found some great tips for sourcing, which is a real challenge for all the sellers I talk to. There were also helpful tips on auction management, customer service, and selling internationally. The profiles of actual PowerSellers and many quotes and anecdotes really made this a good read.

5-0 out of 5 stars My best eBay book investment to date.
As you can see from my Me page, User ID harleyglasses. I have read many eBay related books. This one tops my list for may reasons. Althought they are not powersellers, Brad and Deb don't pretend to have invented the information in their book, they start off by thanking all of the Powersellers and other professionals that contributed to the book. I might add that many are in the top 100 sellers on eBay and are members of PeSA, the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance. Brad and Deb have all the right connections :-)
3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as expected.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good start
I don't have any designs on doing business in China but lived there for three years. It was very common that I could not find answers to questions about who had to be bribed in order to do what from local Chinese people, who would belligerently deny that any type of bribery at all EVER took place in China.
4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting series of anecdotes (not more, not less)
A bit too many small details at times but generally well written and interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars A usefull guide for the Chinese Culture
The book gives an introduction for the Chinese market by different examples with more or less participation of the author. These examples are lively and explain in detail, why the situation developed the way it did. All situations are researched in-depth end provide names and positions of business people and politicians involved.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tried and true time management for salespeople
Countless tasks compete for a salesperson's time every day. Salespeople who fall into these "time traps" sacrifice the hours they need to invest in their ultimate purpose: selling. Sales and work-life balance expert Todd Duncan identifies the eight most common time traps that snare salespeople (and other businesspeople, also), including the "identity trap," the "organization trap," the "control trap" and the "party trap." He explains how to dodge these traps and streamline your workday so that you devote most of your time to selling. He offers strategies for selling more in less time, such as nurturing relationships with high-value customers to generate repeat business and referrals. Duncan also suggests ideas about how to use all your new free time, offering guidelines for balancing your life outside of work. There is a Christian flavor to his advice, but it is subtle and shouldn't deter those who are not spiritually oriented. This isn't a magic formula for increasing sales or buying time; in fact, much of the information is not new. But we recommend it as a nicely packaged approach to maximizing the value of your time as a salesperson, not only in your workday, but also in your life.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
Time management books and seminars can easily be a little vague and "fluffy".Duncan's book - particularly the first half - is filled with sensible, hands-on techniques and inspiration to regain control of your time and consequently your sales accounts.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's not about time management, it's about task management
One sentence summary: Build an effective and efficient team, don't waste time on nonproductive tasks and do what you enjoy doing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny
I have paid hundreds of dollars to attend trainings and courses that were not nearly as good as this tape set. It comes with a great workbook to track your progress and develop the principles needed for success in MLM. I also love Dr. Rubino's book,"Secrets of Building a Million Dollar NWM Organization From a Guy Who's Been There Done That and Shows You How to Do It Too." Very thorough and enlightening.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction to Permission-based Marketing
It is estimated that every day we are subjected to ~3,000 "interruption"-based marketing messages - on TV, the internet, magazines, radio, billboards, newspapers, etc. [Must be true: I counted 120 display advertisements in a typical morning edition of my local newspaper in the sections I normally peruse - this doesn't include the classified or the additional "advertising package".] Permission marketing seeks to engage customers in a more comfortable, step-wise process and develop a relationship over time. "Opt-In" options for email newsletters are an example of this process.
5-0 out of 5 stars a must read for anyone in management
It's easy to discount a book like Permission Marketing as being a book for...well, marketers. However, like all of Godin's books, the underlying message of this book is for anyone in management.
5-0 out of 5 stars Still the Bible for building relationships
Any relationship that lasts probably started out slowly and progressed gradually. Love-at-first-sight is too rare to hope for, even in business.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource for foreign PMs
I recently moved to the US and while I managed software products in my native country, I wasn't familiar with the process or all of the terms used in the US.This book was very helpful as it didn't complicate or assume anything. Software is hard enough to manage - books about managing it shouldn't be.I appreciated that. The templates at the end saved me a lot of time and expense.I never expect any one book to answer all questions but for me, this book was a great help in my recent transition.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Way to Learn & Confirm Product Management
As I went to go and post a review of this book, I was shocked to see some of the negative reviews that are here. This book was fantastic in that it was simple, clear, and comprehensive.I've been a product manager for over 15 years and have managed product managers for the last 7.I work in a very successful software company and have been a successful PM.I was looking for a tool to help train my staff and this book was recommended by one of my colleagues at another company who is also a succsssful manager of PMs.I am glad I listened to my friend and not the people who think they know too much and need boast this via an Amazon book review. From my perspective, this book really helps - it helps new PMs understand what they are expected to do and how to do it.It also confirmed for me what I should expect of my employees and gave me some really staightforward tools to use, even after all these years. If you want a solid and accurate view of software product management, this is it.If the book missed anything, it was how to deal with unfulfilled engineering types....maybe next version?

2-0 out of 5 stars If this book is helpful to you, you have no business being in software product management
This book might have been essential back in 1998 when any goof with a good idea started a software company. But we've moved WAY beyond that.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mostly good but badly edited
A very good read with rich statistical factoids on an increasingly popular topic.Only problem is bad editing or sloppy fact-checking.Example:page 3, "Three major factors impact...", followed by only two factors.Pages 55 and 75, hailing both Gen X and Gen Y mothers as "...the most ethnically diverse population in the history of the United States".

5-0 out of 5 stars Packed with Knowledge!
If men are from Mars, mothers are from Venus and advertisers are from another galaxy altogether. Fortunately, authors Maria T. Bailey and Bonnie W. Ulman have a hot ticket for corporations that hope to rocket to the new frontiers of mother-focused sales. Backed by credible marketing data, real-life case studies and their own experiences as mothers in the world of marketing, Bailey and Ulman decipher the consumer motivations of modern moms and New Age grandmothers. They include excellent examples of successful corporate strategies and of some misdirected advertising campaigns as well, plus easy-to-understand charts, sidebars and graphics. This makes the book repetitious in parts, but still strong. We warmly recommend it to marketing, public relations, advertising and business development professionals.

5-0 out of 5 stars TRILLION-DOLLAR READING FOR BUSINESS OWNERS
This book is brilliant. If you're in any type of business, you've got to understand what your customers want. And since women make 80% of the major purchasing decisions, you need to think about what your company can do to meet women's needs. Especially savvy mom shoppers. Their pocketbooks represent a $1.7 trillion market.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very thin
Pretty useless series of short observations, not very inspiring & quite disappointing given the names of the contributors. Definitely not worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very interesting and thought-provoking
It's definitely a quick read if you want to get through the whole book in one sitting. But taken essay-by-essay, it's worth the time to sit and think about or to talk about with coworkers to really get good benefit from.I did not read the previous book (Purple Cows) but if it is similar, I might consider doing so.

1-0 out of 5 stars This has to be the most overated book on amazon.
Here is the first few lines of the chapter beginning on page 162:

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful and a good starting point
If you want to sell "stuff" this is a good place to start. All the information is here for opening a store. Follow the steps and your doors will be open. But maybe you don't want to sell "stuff" and have an idea you'd like to try out, if so I recommend "Internet Riches" by Scott Fox.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book For the New Startup
This guy knows what he is talking about. I did exactly what he said when I was setting up my on-line business. The only thing was that this book didn't exist then and I had to learn it all one step at a time. Well, I guess that's the only way any of us learn anything.
2-0 out of 5 stars To basic and not enough practical guidance
This book was clearly for beginners only.Although the book says "for dummies", you'd really HAVE to be a dummy to get much out of this. The book is simply too vague when talking about important internet concepts and doen't show you how to REALLY get an online business going.I personally would reccomend 33 Days to Profits by Yank Silverwww.33daystoprofits.com as a much better way to get PRACTICAL advice on starting an online business. ...
