5-0 out of 5 stars Best business book (of many) I've read for startups!
I'm a bit of a business book junkie, and this one is my favorite so far. It's up there on top with 7 Habits and Guerrilla Marketing.I've recommended it to several friends and family members since reading it cover to cover like a novel this weekend. If there was ONE single book I'd recommend to any startup business entrepreneur, it would be this one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, funny and smart
What a great read this book is! It can be read just for the fun of understanding Kawasaki's personality, his open approach to business, or it can be read as a primer of how to really start that business. Obviously the man's words are well field-tested and there are many practical suggestions that really cut to the bone and make you stop and rethink a strategy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Practical advice from the master
It's very apparent from all the other reviews that this is an excellent book, both in style and substance. I have to agree.

5-0 out of 5 stars good text FOR SALE!
i have one for sale, brand new for $35!email heather_ellis84@yahoo.com if interested.

5-0 out of 5 stars More of a reference book.
This book does not have a lot of depth to it - and it is somewhat dated (each year a bit more), but there are some handy examples that make it a worthwhile read... especially for the price.

3-0 out of 5 stars An O-K text, with a few gems.
For your basic introductory business class, this book is good.It offers a lot of vocabulary, and I can see why a lot of people would say the book has no depth since most of the information can be drawn from simply living the real world. (Unless of course you life in a refrigerator.)So why bother grabbing the text if I can get the same exact knowledge from life?

4-0 out of 5 stars A good "door" to be opened by those interested for Innovation
A collection of reviews in Innovation Strategies/Policies/Theories/Practices some of them related with case studies in big companies.
5-0 out of 5 stars state of the art on innovation
I'm searching for new ways to develop an entrepreneurial area at the university, and this book gave us more tools and knowledge to center in creativity rather than business plan the entrepreneurial curricula.
3-0 out of 5 stars A Good Introduction to Innovation
While by no means a great book, this collection of articles on innovation from the Harvard Business Review is a good introduction to the art of innovation, as it is written in a simple but effective style. The articles also address the topic of innovation in a variety of ways, thus ensuring that almost everyone will find something useful that is written in a style conducive to their preferences.

5-0 out of 5 stars Holding Success in Your Hand!
While this resource guide by Sharon Fullen may not deal with the most glamorous aspect of opening a new restaurant or other food business, it certainly discusses the most import: the business plan. The entire book and accompanying CD-ROM handles basic business preparation with aplomb. Starting with What is a Business Plan? and ending with an entire chapter devoted to an example of a sample business plan, Fullen leaves no stone unturned. She highlights business plan writing strategies, pinpoints problem areas that are often stumbling blocks to success, intersperses invaluable information on writing a feasibility analysis and deftly assists the reader with ideas on how to implement and understand successful marketing strategies. One section that should not be skipped discusses Getting Your Plan Published, offering tips on standing above the competition when presenting your business plan. The CD-ROM is an extra bonus that affords you the luxury of having printable examples and a portable way to use and share your new-found information. Opening a Restaurant or Other Food Preparation Starter Kit is a must-have resource for any aspiring restaurant owner; a resourceful guide that offers sound advice, concrete examples and hidden nuggets of valuable information that only serve to solidify a sound start to the opening of your new restaurant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great information
I absolutely loved this book. Not only did author Sharon Fullen tell readers exactly what they will need to do to write a business plan, she went out of her way to provide excellent examples, detailed descriptions, amble resources for finding additional and more specific information and much more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Read it in One Night
There aren't many eBay books that are entertaining but this one was. Lots of good stories to keep you interested, and when all is said and done there's a lot of good information here on creating auctions and really thinking like a seller. Somewhat self-promotional, buy hey the guy's a success story.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enthusiasm is contagious, but Ginsberg has much to gain
This book is fun and well written, but it started to sound a lot like Network Marketing books I'd read in the past, and when I first sniffed the aroma of Ginsberg's intent to sell me ebay tools, I was a bit dismayed...okay, he's got more than one agenda. I agree that there is A LOT of repeition, but maybe that's a good thing.. .it sinks in. However, Ginsburg's writing gives the feeling sales are really hot on Ebay...and that if you put stuff upyou're very likely to sell it. Maybe, maybe not. Halfway through the book I went online to check the seller listings... as he suggests....and I was pretty mollified to see just how much goes UNSOLD on EBAY every day.Putting those stats side by side would be a bit sobering, I think. I love to buy on ebay, I've tried to sell a few things without much luck (except new books.)YOu have to spend more to sell more and I've been stingy.. so with his help, I plan to experiment a bit...but I have no doubts this is not as easy as his enthusiasm makes it sound. But when you're making millions, I guess it's easy to get enthusiastic, especially if that sells more books and more software. Now I'm looking for a book that says... yes, you can, BUT!:-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of information for the beginner.
There is a lot of information to get you excited about starting to buy/sell on Ebay.A tiny bit too many "stories", but excellent source of the basics.Just be sure to flag pages as you go to reference and your start up will be much easier.Just attended Ebay 101 class ($95) and much of the stuff I had already learned from this book.Definitely worth the price of the book. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars 4+ Stars
Excellent resource and touchstone for new entrepreneurs or floundering entrepreneurs. I purchased this book a few months ago when my husband and I were evaluating a business we wanted to buy. Mr Kiyosaki brings up several interesting and realistic aspects of self employment, while showing how to evaluate what type of business person you are. This book helped us become more self aware of our strengths and our weaknesses. The writing was relaxed and easy to understand. I have now passed the book on to a nephew that is a beginning entrepreneur and told him it is, "a must read."

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely read this book before you quit your job
"Before You Quit Your Job" by Robert Kiyosaki is a book of advice targeted to those thinking about becoming entrepreneurs. In my opinion, this book was definitely needed after reading Robert Kiyosaki's previous books.
5-0 out of 5 stars More of the same, but great author background information
Great book! Probably the best of the "Rich Dad" series. I've read a few of them and haven't learned too much since my background includes being a CPA and attorney. However, what I liked the most about THIS book was the background information about the authors that is disclosed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the buy.
I found it a very useful book, especially with all the downloadable forms. I felt it was a little light on user testing - but otherwise, very good. It felt a bit repetitive and that things were presented in an odd order sometimes, but it's still worth the buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thinking about creating a website and want to do it right?
BUY THIS BOOK!I wish I had this book a few months ago.It could have spared me from many of the nightmares I had while developing a college website. It includes a link to the author's website where you can find lots of forms that ask the right questions so that you can create the right solution.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book takes a SWAG at a process that could work for web redesign
I use this resource as the textbook for the "Web Site Design" course I teach at PSU.My favorite thing about this book is that it supports my course approach that "everyone has a site" and "when you get a job as a web site (designer, producer, developer)OR have the responsibility of having a site dumped in your lap.... you will not be building it from scratch."

2-0 out of 5 stars Very boring
I bought this book based on the good reviews it had received. I could not find any useful infomraiton in this book and the Author seems to go to such great lengths trying to explain governance, but in a very rigid style.
4-0 out of 5 stars IT Governance
This is an excellent book which should be read by everyone looking for results from their technology systems and not just Techies and IT managers. The overall premise is straightforward: your IT management directly impacts all facets of your organization and therefore to seperately manage your IT from the rest of your organization is impossible and to attempt to do so is inherently foolish.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good models and a healthy dose of common sense.
The notion that good IT governance is the single biggest factor in generating business value from the IT department seems like a no brainer. Still, an astonishing number of companies get it wrong. Weill and Ross provide a book with an array of governance models that should be able to help many of the IT managers reading this book to get it right.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book I have read on selling on eBay!
"eBay income," by Cheryl Russell is unique among the hundreds of books on the subject, in that it takes the reader on a step by step journey through the process of learning how to sell on eBay, without overloading them with difficult to understand language that is so prevalent in other books on eBay selling. 5-0 out of 5 stars A knowledgeable "reader friendly" grasp of just how to go about doing business on the eBay website
eBay Income: How Anyone Of Any Age, Location, And/Or Background Can Build A Highly Profitable Online Business With eBay by Cheryl L. Russell offers a knowledgeable "reader friendly" grasp of just how to go about doing business on the eBay website. Outlining in considerable detail the most tactful and profitable approach to making the most profitable and productive management approach to sales online through the auspices of eBay, readers are provided with a wealth of first hand, experienced-based, practical advice that can have those readers up and operating before the day is out. If you have something to sell or are looking for something to buy as part of your own online entrepreneurial venture utilizing the Internet's most popular do-it-yourself website for buying and selling, then eBay Income is especially recommended and essential reading for its profusion of precise, intelligible tips, overall ideas, and step-by-step instructions.
5-0 out of 5 stars From the basic to the inspired
Never been on eBay before but looking for a place to sell some treasures that you found at the second-hand shop?Put up a couple of auctions and wondering why they never sold?Trying to figure out how to maximize your profit in such a variable environment?Look no further!Russell's book covers everything from setting up a seller's account (and the different types thereof) to writing a business plan, marketing strategies, and success stories. The main point of the book is that, like any business, running an online eBay business required professionalism in all areas. What separates the eBay hobbyist from the profitable business owner is the willingness to plan ahead, account for income and expenses responsibly and legally, and to sell yourself at every opportunity. This book will show you how. After the first chapter (an introduction to eBay's mission and history), the book moves through the information you'll need to know through the process, and each chapter ends with a checklist of steps to complete before you move on to the next chapter. The book is clearly and entertainingly written, with lots of fun anecdotes showing you other eBay sellers and how they learned the hard way (so you don't have to).Although you may not be able to find exactly what you're looking for using just the chapter titles or section headings, I really would recommend that you read the entire book and complete the worksheets before moving on, anyway.I've recommended this book to a number of my personal friends and clients, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to increase profits and reduce hassles. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A "must-understand" for leaders concerned with long-term prosperity
Many thanks to Vijay Govindarajan (VG) and Chris Trimble for this grand exposition of ideas first shared in the Spring 2005 California Management Review and the May 2005 Harvard Business Review.VG and Trimble's "Forget, Borrow, Learn" framework is the most powerful recipe for corporate reinvention that I have encountered.
5-0 out of 5 stars Raising Tigers
In Nature it is rare for one species to successfully rear the young of another species. The difficulties, for example, of a tiger cub being raised by a herd of elephants are easy to imagine. If the tiger isn't accidentally trampled underfoot while it is still too immature to look after itself, it is only a matter of time before some astute members of the elephant herd recognize they are raising a natural enemy, and trample it underfoot on purpose.

Even the most successful business eventually hits a growth ceiling which can lead to stagnation and new industry emergence: but most businesses can use their profitable platform to make changes with a little extra innovation, which is explored in Vijay Govindarajan & Chris Trimble's TEN RULES FOR STRATEGIC INNOVATORS: FROM IDEA TO EXECUTION. Start a new business structure inside a large, established company structure with the rules here: they are accompanied by industry profiles of companies which have successful made such changes, and provides ideas managers can't afford not to consider. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Truly Professional Approach
If you're planning to open a bed and breakfast as a hobby or with the notion that "you're not really running a business, you're just making profits in your free time," this is not the book for you. This book covers almost all potential areas that you'll need to know to run a professional B&B, and the level of detail will quickly dissuade anyone who isn't serious. That having been said, anyone who does want to run a professional bed and breakfast will find the information invaluable. The forms included on the enclosed CD pay for the book themselves--everything from employment applications to inventory forms, invoices, standard recipe cards, and kitchen safety inspection forms. The book covers all stages of the planning and setup process, including business plans, marketing and promotion, safety, and employees.Particularly useful is the section on marketing, something that most B&Bs that I've known tend to ignore. With a little creativity (and there are lots of suggestions contained in this chapter), your B&B can become part of the very identity of the neighborhood or city you live in, as in, "If you want to capture the flavor of X, go to this B&B!"The only change I would make to the book would be to make the section on writing business plans a more user friendly for those B&B owners who have never opened a business before.Nevertheless, the book contains lots of hardheaded business sense, presented plainly and clearly, with many good examples of existing B&Bs to illustrate the point. While you may not need all the information included when you first open your business, this book will provide you with lots of options for a time when you're able to expand.I recommend this book to anyone seriously considering going into the B&B business as a business, rather than just a way of pouring money down the drain!

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful and a good starting point
If you want to sell "stuff" this is a good place to start. All the information is here for opening a store. Follow the steps and your doors will be open. But maybe you don't want to sell "stuff" and have an idea you'd like to try out, if so I recommend "Internet Riches" by Scott Fox.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book For the New Startup
This guy knows what he is talking about. I did exactly what he said when I was setting up my on-line business. The only thing was that this book didn't exist then and I had to learn it all one step at a time. Well, I guess that's the only way any of us learn anything.
2-0 out of 5 stars To basic and not enough practical guidance
This book was clearly for beginners only.Although the book says "for dummies", you'd really HAVE to be a dummy to get much out of this. The book is simply too vague when talking about important internet concepts and doen't show you how to REALLY get an online business going.I personally would reccomend 33 Days to Profits by Yank Silverwww.33daystoprofits.com as a much better way to get PRACTICAL advice on starting an online business. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for beginners
This book is perfect for first time sellers and people that just need help finding direction.A lot of the information is general business knowledge but there is an occasional piece of helpful knowledge, even to experienced ebayers and amazoners. There is help with understanding taxes as well as creating yourself as a professional business. All around it's a decent read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Radical theory!!
Whether you are a manager or CEO of an established company, an enterpreneur or graduates/MBAs, you will find radical insights in this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars excelling value - makes you think
This book goes right along with its predecessors in demonstrating how to predict what various members of an industry are driven to do.This book inspired great ideas I had never realized were true; it is much more practical and applied than the previous two books, but you really need to read all 3 to gain the most from what this book offers.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Next Step in Developing a Powerful Theory
"The Innovator's Solut!on" is a worthwhile follow-on to "The Innovator's Dilemma".Some similar case studies are provided, as well as completely new material.Where the "Dilemma" book went deeply into theory and just hinted at solutions, Christensen et al. have advanced and amplified on the original work.If I had to recommend only a single book, I'd put forward "Solution" as it covers much of "Dilemma" and provides new material. However, It is quite worthwhile to take the full depth of background provided in "The Innovator's Dilemma", especially if you find yourself in the position of needing to sell these challenging theories inside a mature organization.Highly recommended, highly actionable, has the potential to be a "game changer"! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars An great case study on what makes effective leadership
The Leadership Engine, by Noel Tichy, is devoted to describing how great leaders push and lead their corporations toward success. Using case studies and research, this book shows that leader driven organizations are more successful, rather than mere manager led. In so doing, the author shows how leader led organizations have traits that lead them towards achievement of their goals.
