2-0 out of 5 stars It's a toughie.
This is the text book that was assigned to my class, and I am taking an at-home course.I don't know if these guys are covering everything or not, but I can tell you this: they sure don't know how to write clearly.Sentences are long-winded and convoluted. I read each sentence over and over just trying to figure it out. I am taking notes by re-writing every paragraph. Appraisal school is difficult enough without having to decipher and translate the textbook into plain English.Today's example:
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for new appraisers
I have been working as an appraisal apprentice for 3 months.I have read 3 different books and this is the most concise and clear.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Used Mr. John Tirone's HP-12C Real Estate Book to
I enjoyed this real estate appraisal book. However like just about every real estate appraisal book I have seen, the Williams and Ventolo book could use better supplementation on the HP financial calculators so I used a book recommended by one of my classmates, "Professional Real Estate Problem Solving Using the HP12C" financial calculator. This book is written by a Mr. John Tirone, a real estate instructor and attorney from Michigan. I heard that Mr. Tirone supports his books but I was skeptical until we called him with questions on using the hp12C in some of the real estate appraisal problems experienced in our class that used the Williams book.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars READ THIS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT ECONOMICS!
Paul Zane Pilser did a great job of explaining the theory of Alchemy and the application of it in Supply-side and Demand-side economics can produce an unlimited amount of resources and wealth for an economy. He also does a great job of discussing technology and how it is is extremely important to economic growth, how it can greatly conserve resources, it's infinite possiblities, and much more.
5-0 out of 5 stars a unified field theory for wealth
This book describes how to build wealth broadly enough so you can apply its principles to anything. its main principle is technology unleashes your ability to build wealth and by applying dormant but existing technology to resources will create enough value for you to achieve wealth. ie using the latest version software could dramatically improve your bottom line. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Real Eye Opener
I read this book many years ago and am still impressed by the clarity of the logic. It presents a wonderful view of the world as a place of abundance and wealth. This is a beautiful contrast to the belief many people have that the world has limited resources, so the only way to get anything is to take it from someone else. This book has forever changed my worldview.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for the non-beancounter
This is an excellent book to help you through the tough spots of Quickbooks Pro 2006.Since I am not an Accountant but have used Quicken for many years I am a dedicated Intuit customer (wouldn't touch MS Money for anything).Quickbooks is an excellent product but the learning curve is extensive. However, between "QuickBooks 2006 (Missing Manual)" and "Tax Loopholes for eBay Sellers" by Diane Kennedy I am attacking and winning with Quickbooks

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Do you want to take control of your company's financial future? If you do, then this book is for you! Author Bonnie Biafore, has done an outstanding job of writing a practical manual that provides you with step-by-step instructions for using every QuickBooks Pro feature.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great QuickBooks Learning Tool
If you are one of the many small business owners out there that use QuickBooks 2006 to run the numbers side of your business, you no doubt find QuickBooks to be an essential tool to track the financial progress and how money is entering/exiting your cash flow.Unless you are an absolute superstar, you probably find QuickBooks to be fantastic for your needs, but confusing at times.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Entrepreneurs and Wealth Seekers
This book is a must read for entrepreneurs and wealth seekers. There is a saying "Even if you are the greatest jockey in the world, you have to be on the right horse to be a winner". The streams of income Mr. Allen suggests in this book are the RIGHT HORSES that should be pursued - those that ultimately generate residual income. In addition, the concept of diversification of income sources is a key concept to be taken from this book. I have given a 4 stars rating only because the action steps are a bit limited in scope - understandable though as it covers a lot of grounds. This book helped me understand where to begin to put my efforts/energy towards and conceptualize/visualize how my income sources should look like going forward. Although it seems overwhelming after you read the entire book, if you break down the concepts and pursue generating the income streams one by one, i think achiveing financial independence is definitely possible.
4-0 out of 5 stars Journey in Learning, Planning and Achieving
This book was very interesting to read, a litle bit like reading a novel about how you could become very happy and successful using a variety of new techniques coming straight from the information age we live in.Most of these techniques did not exist ten years ago, so this is new content.
1-0 out of 5 stars Boycott Robert G. Allen!!!
Robert G. Allen is a notorious and relentless internet spammer. If you should happen to somehow end up on one of his email lists like I did, he will send you several junk emails a day.Unsubscribing doesn't work, and trying to block the sender's domain is useless because the emails are sent from a different domain every time. The funny part is that the emails aren't even coded properly. They always show up as just a bunch of html code.Would you really take internet money-making advice from a guy who can't even code html properly?Anyway, his spamming practices are completely illegal and it's only a matter of time before the law catches up with him.But that shouldn't come as any surprise considering that mister Allen has been in trouble with the law before. He's had several run-ins with the IRS, lawsuits against him, and a chapter 7 bankruptcy.I would also stay away from his Nothing Down real estate methods. Many of those practices are illegal, and the president of the Nothing Down club in Atlanta wound up in federal prison because of it.For more info on Allen, visit johntreed dottcomm, click on Real Estate Investing, then click Real Estate Guru Ratings.Bottom line, don't trust this guy and don't buy his books. And if you're reading this Mr. Allen, take me off your @%#&*$ mailing list!!! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Most of us know that upon our demise, a succession of fees and taxes will eat into our estates--no matter their size--if we don't plan now to protect them. Unfortunately, many of us still postpone this process because we hesitate to summon the outside legal assistance that's traditionally been required. The folks at Nolo Press have made it their mission to provide us with the means to complete a relatively uncomplicated official arrangement like this without lawyers, however, and their third edition of Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Attorney Approved
I am an attorney (shyreslaw.com) and I highly recommend this book for those who could use a simple trust and want to avoid probate.Even if you decide to hire an attorney, this book is invaluable because it offers great insight into trusts and avoiding the probate system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy!
This book was a god-send! I was skeptical at first because I have no legal backround and I thought that making my own living trust would be complicated at best, impossible at worst. But following a recommendation of a friend I decided to give do-it-yourself law a shot. Boy am I happy I did! I saved a fortune in legal fees and was able to get the job done just as well as if I'd had a lawyer coaching me every step of the way.Read more

Editorial Review

To Peter Lynch, success in the stock market is pretty basic: if a company's earnings rise, then the stock price goes up. "This simple point--that the price of a stock is directly related to a company's earning power--is often overlooked, even by sophisticated investors," the former Fidelity Magellan manager writes in Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Strong Fundamental Book
This is a great book to understand the basics of investments.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Primer for New Investors
This is book is a great primer on the basics of investing. The language does seem geared towards a younger audience, but the information presented is useful for new and would-be investors of all ages and is very easy to read (I finished it in 3 days). For me, the book was a good brush up on different investing options. Lynch weighs the pros and cons of different investments and strategies, but in the end stresses that the most earning potential at the end of the day is in stocks. The book also includes great tips and advice on how to choose strong companies with potential for growth. This book was definitelythe gentle 'shove' I needed to start investing and building a strong portfolio.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gibson's Asset Allocation
Among the many books on this subject, this is one of the best. Unlike most of the other authors, Gibson does not limit himself to list the different asset classes and then provide recommended allocations. He goes one step further and describes in very practical terms the different issues that one faces when developing a portfolio and how to resolve them. In my view, Gibson ranks next to Bernstein and Malkiel. A good buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Asset allocation practically eliminates all risk while increasing returns.
This book informs the current political struggle to reform the Social Security program. In the case of a foreign invasion or some other calamity, it's true that one's private investments would be insecure, but so would one's "investments" in government bonds, so such cases are irrelevant.
4-0 out of 5 stars Timeless advice written for the informed
Mr. Gibson hits the nail on the head with Asset Allocation, balancing financial risk. The book is well written and the advice is timeless.I especially like the way he walks through the examples of multiple asset class investing using at first blinded and then un-blinded examples. It is very eye opening. His emphasis on frame-of-reference risk is right on the money.I recommend the book highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Workbook no matter how smart you are..
With your finances. I recommend this workbook to all of those looking to master their debt and track their spending. The first step to financial success is to monitor spending and then subsequently control and pay down debt. This workbook allows you to get "down and dirty" with your day-to-day expenses and really see where your money is going. I also really like the various budgeting and net-worth tracking components. There are also helpful tips throughout the book to gain financial empowerment. I highly recommend this book and would encourage whoever purchases it to try the Mvelopes CD for the online budgeting system. I also think this workbook would be beneficial for teens and pre-teens to get a better handle on money and debt management.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative Guide for "Getting Started"
If I were planning to become a brain surgeon and found a book on that subject I would not expect that book to explain how to start doing brain surgery on my own the next day. Fortunately currency trading does not take nearly as long to master as brain surgery. This is one of the few books that will provide a good background for people interested in getting started in the business of currency trading. Once you have some background from an excellent book such as this one, you will then want to follow Michael Archer's advice and begin the path of education and training that is required for success.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good primer on the forex market
I purchased this book because I wanted a primer on the forex market and trading concepts used in that market. This book provides an overview of the forex market, which includes a brief history, the mechanics of trading, and an overview of fundamental and techinical analysis. While this book does not delve deeply into forex, it does serve as an excellent primer and thus lives up to its title of "Getting Started."

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Bang for the Buck
This book is perhaps the best introduction for the novice currency trader. Each chapter in the book is short, very straightforward, easily digestible, and full of information.I also like the cautionary attitude the writers of the book have: they warn you about leverage, [...], and illusions of making easy money.

I actually had this book in 1993 when it was self published the principles in it showed me how to go from being totally broke and $50,000 in debt to now having a net worth of $150,000, this is also after going through a divorce where I lost 50% of my net worth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical and Doable
Dave Ramsey makes it easy to apply the principles he outlines in this book. In the conclusion he evens admits he hasn't totally implemented all he writes about in his own life. He explains that if a reader can accomplish 25% of what he describes, significant financial progress will result. There is not any major revelations in this book. He reminds you of the basics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent bookfor a more realistic approach towards savings and retirement.
In some ways this book is like the other books out there: work hard, save money, let it compound. However, he does preach something that no other book I have read teaches. Most people say you save all your life and then you retire, and that is where they end their story. They focus on all the ways to save up enough money to retire and live off the interest. However, for most people that is impractical, and impossible for some. This book on the other hand gives you a good way to think about how to deal with your money in stages, and realize that retirement is not the end of your investing. Easy read, lots of good info, not too many stats to bog you down. Overall, very glad I read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended to the informed and uninformed
Recommended even to other CPA, financial planers, and insurance agents.Ray's personality shoots through the pages make it a "Fun" book to read.I can't believe I used the work fun, but it is appropriate.Helpful illustrations allow those negligent in retirement planning to understand the importance of "Bucketizing" (read the book). If you enjoy his radio show you will find the book beneficial as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
I first became aware of Mr. Lucia and his "BrainTrust" (Rick Plum, Rob Butterfield, Jr., and John Dean) when his long-running (14 year) San Diego-based radio show went national and became syndicated with Business Talk Radio at the end of 2000; I thank the day I stumbled upon this sage. The show has become increasingly popular and now airs in around 60 markets.Once limited to the greater San Diego area, this show is now educating people all across the country. This book continues the process of finally bringing Ray Lucia to an even broader audience. 5-0 out of 5 stars Someone who works and still found this book useful!
Some parents have the time to take their children to the grocery store and do all of those things, but some parents don't.Therefore, they would much rather spend their free time enjoying activities that everyone in the family(spouses included)can enjoy. Also if you have younger ones, this idea doesn't seem feasible. This book is helpful because it gives those parents with hectic schedules(especially those that have hired housekeepers to assist them) MORE options so they can raise fiscally responsible children also.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not for anyone who still works for a living
You do not *need* to give your children an allowance to teach them how to handle money. Really. The author's position is that you simply have to--and it makes you wonder if she also thinks it is okay to experiment with drugs in order to learn how to use them the "right" way.Just as you can educate children about the dangers of drugs without giving them any, you can also educate children about how to spend money wisely. One way is to take them grocery shopping with you, for example, and let them help you with calculating the best values for the money you have.
5-0 out of 5 stars Read this book along with your Dr. Spock!!
I work in the field of philanthropy have hosted many workshops on issues of children and money. The four hours I spent reading this book were the most educational and fruitful four hours I have ever spent on issues of how to raise children!! Whether your family is middle class or affluent, you will benefit from this book. In my opinion, the lessons offered by the Gallos on values and raising children go far beyond issues of money. I believe it is really a guide to raising well rounded and socially responsible children. I know I will return again and again to the chapters in this book both personally and professionally. Buy this book and read it!! ... Read more
