4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable textbook
I purchased this book as required reading for a class and am enjoying its easy style and case studies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding service
It was very nice to hear when my book was shipped. Good job.

4-0 out of 5 stars A little dry, but very current and interesting case studies.
The actual chapter text is a little dry and sometimes confusing, but the layout is good and the case studies at the end of the chapters are VERY interesting and thought-provoking.I may not have gotten through the class with an A if not for the way the book is so well organized and clear. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Strong Tips Here
Axtell vividly shows how common sense is NOT enough to get you through all social or business situations around the world. Travelers ignore Axtell at their own peril.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting
This book is good to read in general terms as it attempted to explain the gestures from all around the world.Sometimes, it's amusing to read & at times, I would be loss for words as what I thought was the right things to do in certain countries is actually considered as rude or obscene.Perhaps, it's the kind of book that you can read in the plane or just as a matter of interest. The presentation is rather text book-ish with bullet points, occasional pictures to ease readers' boredom, something like a PowerPoint presentation.I guess that denotes the writer's background being a prominent guest speaker.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful, interesting and funny
This is a nice book. If you are going to travel abroad or you meet foreign people, you would like to know what these people understand from your body language. Of course, the book also gives you good material for chatting with friends from anywhere (including your own coutry).Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have to take Statistics, at least get this book!
I've said it before, and I will say it again. I hate Statistics! It is not just that statistics originated as a means to classify and rank people according to their perceived social worth. Statistics is still used that way as evidenced by the publication and use of the book The Bell Curve. In comparision to a pure science like Neuroscience and also to mathematics, statistics is a subjective science. Everyone knows that statistics can be manipulated and used to show whatever the researcher wants to show...and it is more prone to abuse then most other hard sciences and math.4-0 out of 5 stars the poor statistics students guide to understanding

5-0 out of 5 stars Globalization and need to know International Law
This book is essentially important for every business person dealing in international arena and every student seeking careers in multinational businesses. The author covers almost all aspects of governing laws related to international trade. My personal statement would be that this book is not to just read but to use it in everyday's practices as a desk reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best help for international business lawpractitioners
This is the best book I've ever read about international business law. It is a very good guide to all issues concerning international law since the choice of a applicable law for a contract passing through contract contents, labor and taxes international legislation, ethics and finishing with the very new cyber law. This is a book to be read for specialists in both international law and international business, but also for practitioners of international trade. We have adodpted this book in our course of International Business Law at Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala. 4-0 out of 5 stars A Few Tips on Not Being a Sucker
As a returning-college-student studying finance, this book provides an interesting basis for understanding some fundamental legal changes over the past 30 years.I highly recommend this book if you have an interest in stocks or are an investor.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting topic; labored writing
Whence Stewart's Pulitzer, I wonder?Presumably because he got the scoop on other reporters, and dug up interesting facts and connections. As a series of newspaper articles, this doubtless made for riveting stuff. As a book, it does not.Stewart hews closely to the facts, detailing trade after trade, insider exchange after insider exchange. In short course, every trade begins to look like every other trade, every incremental corruption like every other, every trader, arbitrageur, I-banker, etc., like every other.Unless you're very familiar with Wall street, and fairly steeped in the terminology and business of modern finance, you -- as I did -- may tire of the repetition.Stewart rarely steps back from the minutiae to consider broader contextual themes (political, social, cultural, etc.).Some deeper historical perspective would have enlivened DoT greatly. So, too, would a bit more analysis.Stewart reserves almost all judgment for the opening and closing chapters of DoT.The result is a 500 page book that reads like a recitation of details. To boot, Stewart's prose is pedestrian in the extreme.Overall, a disappointing read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Greed is good and this book too.
Vivid account about the corporate take-over wave in the 80s and the boom and crash of the junk-bond industry. Sometimes, a bit lenghty, but very absorbing anyway. Only read it if you are really interested, otherwwise I would suggest "Predator's Ball". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For True Entrepreneurs
Michael Lechter's book "OPM" Other People's Money is one of the finest books written for creating financial leverage. The information teaches anyone how they can take an idea and truly turn it into a significant financial gain without risking their own capital.
4-0 out of 5 stars OPM
Only 1/2 way thru, however, an old dog can learn new tricks. I've been a real estate investor for 17 years. If I had this book 17 years ago, I would probably have 40 properties today instead of 20. EZ read and full of very useful information.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Place to Start To Learn About OPM
Michael Lechter is a powerful addition to the voice of the "Rich Dad" series. For anyone trying to figure out how to start a venture without money in hand, this is a great book to start with. 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome. Learn about the "real" world.
This book explains how the world works, and in some cases how it doesn't work. Tons of topics are covered from free markets to the role of governments to international trade to the price of your health insurance to the stock market to the federal reserve and more.
5-0 out of 5 stars simple text that everyone can understand
I picked this book out of the bookshelf in a public library, purely by chance, yet got fascinated by it. It explains basic economic idea in the context of public policy making process. I think this is a basic book that everyone should read. Read this this and then discuss whatever politics you want. Public policy fails all the time if it does not comform to the market force.

4-0 out of 5 stars SImplification at its best...

4-0 out of 5 stars Learned alot
I think that it is a good book for people who are just getting into real estate investing. It gives you information on many creative things that can be done.I learned alot and plan to use some of the suggestions and tools soon.

1-0 out of 5 stars Plug for other products - all fluff
The authors of this book touch on many subjects, giving very little detail in any of them. The legal and accounting loopholes are very basic - and they keep referring you to other products and sites they've written/published - making this book one big commercial. In one area, when talking about the benefits of real estate investment, the fail to even mention costs associated with using equity, cash flow, repairs, etc.I am a new entrant to real estate investing, and would not recommend this book to anyone. It is no different than the get rich quick schemes you see on tv/internet.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for starters so you can talk the talk with your lawyer
The concepts in the RichDad series book Rich Dad, Poor Dad are basic concepts. It was a book to introduce the reader that working hard your whole life is not the way to create real wealth. In Real Estate Loopholes, the concepts for investing in real estate are pretty much the same amount of detail as in RDPD.It's a short read intended to give the reader some surface level knowledge of real estate tax advantage and legal issues to avoid by setting up LPs and LLPs.By reading this book, I'm able to ask more intelligent questions for my real estate attorney.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Roadmap I Have Seen
Trust is a precious commodity.Like reputation, it is easily broken and never well mended. This book is is the best roadmap I have seen on how to create, enhance and, should it become necessary, regain trust.Itis short, lively and spiced with stories from Hyler Bracey's colorful past.My personal favorite is the one about his employees giving him the nickname "Highly Abrasive".I can report that I have actually incorporated some of the strategies into my repertoire with positive results.I recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve the quality of his or her relationships.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trust ME-- Read this Book!
That's what's written on the back cover of this book with a list of prestigious business people recommending it.I had just finished reading, and appreciating, Dr. Bracey's other management book, and found this one even better. Perhaps it is because trust is such a predominant issue in our lives today. While the book provides a program with specific steps for building and keeping trust in business, sidebar stories help show these steps can also be used in our personal lives. The book is a quick read, and you will certainly feel a lot smarter when you have finished it.Dr. Bracey ought to send copies of this book to the clergy, politicians and chairmen of some of the corporations that are in crisis today as a result of misusing trust!

5-0 out of 5 stars TRUST Building has never been so clear!
TRUST building has never been made so clear. This book just doesn't talk the talk it walks the walk. Several books identify trust issues but never help you resolve trust issues, this book makes it crystal clear. It is very easy to read and understand what you need to build trust and keep it in your life in all aspects from personal to business. The stories that are told put the final touch on the process by giving real life examples of ways that the formula is used. If anyone wants to learn the best ways to build and keep trust, this is the bible on trust. The only way to sum it up is everyone MUST! read this book. If everyone practiced these principles the world would be a better place to live. I can only imagine what that would be like. Hyler is truely the TRUST EXPERT!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Explains How Doing the Right Thing is the Best Way to Live!!!
+++++
4-0 out of 5 stars Insightful!
Author John C. Maxwell has spent years thinking about leadership and ethical action, and it shows. In this short volume, he condenses his years of reflection into clear, accessible principles that any reader can immediately apply. He supports his points with anecdotes, and with quotes from sacred texts and authors from a variety of cultures. His clarity makes his work bold. There's no way you could mistake what he's saying, and that's refreshing, especially given contemporary concerns about corporate governance. While the simplicity and brevity of the book makes it broadly accessible, we especially recommend it to two readerships: those already dedicated to living ethically, who are looking for tools to apply, and those who are skeptical about the utility of ethics. The book (which was previously published as "There's No Such Thing as Business Ethics") has only two real weaknesses. The first is that Maxwell's definition of an ethical dilemma is far too simple, and he treats it too briefly. (What do we do when love and duty clash? What do we do when directly ordered to do something unethical by a superior, who thinks the action is correct - and someone else depends upon our income?) The second is that Maxwell discusses how to treat others as if we were all the same deep down. Perhaps we are - but he doesn't fully address the many personal and cultural differences that one must negotiate along the way. Our moral dilemma: is it right to dwell on such relatively minor flaws in a book we basically respect, agree with, appreciate and recommend warmly? You be the judge. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful
This textbook, which we used in our MBA ethics class last semester, is unfit for use as a teaching tool.Velasquez is more proselyte than professor; he reverse-engineers his conclusions from political positions, and he ignores data that do not comport with his beliefs.Throughout the book, he displays an astounding misunderstanding of some basic, accepted principles of economics--including the law of supply! (p. 169-170).
