    Editorial Review

After reading this book, I guarantee that you will never visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (or any wonderful, old cavern of a museum) without sneaking into the bathrooms to look for Claudia and her brother Jamie. They're standing on the toilets, still, hiding until the museum closes and their adventure begins.Such is the impact of timeless novels . . . they never leave us. E. L. Konigsburg won the 1967 Newbery Medal for this tale of how Claudia and her brother run away to the museum in order to teach their parents a lesson. Little do they know that mystery awaits! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This book is great so far. It is full of mystery and adventure. Twelve year old Claudia has run away with her brother Jamie to the Metropilan Muesum of Art. Claudia decided to bring along her brother Jamie with her because he has a lot of money. While they are there at the muesum, Claudia and Jamie come across a great mystery in the muesum that is all over the newspaper. If you would like to find out what this great mystery read this book! Teachers it is also a great book to read with your class. Also edutactional!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not mixed-up about how good this book is
This Newbery award winner is about Claudia and Jamie, two kids who run away from home. They leave the suburbs and head to New York where they stay in none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They sleep in an old bed in the French section. They hide in the bathrooms. They even take baths in a fountain (and get paid for it, sort of)!But when a new exhibit comes in, the fun really starts. The Angel is beautiful, exquisite, and mysterious. The question: is the sculpture really done by Michelangelo? Claudia and Jamie will do anything to find out. I think I loved the book mostly because I really liked the idea of living in a museum. This book is good for all ages, but I expected it to be longer.

This simple story of young Peter is a delight to read any time of the year as the protaganist wakes up to a snow-filled scene that he explores and enjoys. He even tries to capture a bit to bring home! Read this with your young ones as they anticipate the coming season or read it by the fire as you dry your feet after a winter day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Chasing The Falconers
Aiden and Meg Falconer were trying to get their parents out of jail. They were stuck at a juvenile detention center and had to figure out how to escape. Once they escaped they had to run from the police and the government. Aiden knew a guy when they went on vacation as a family to Vermont and remembered there was a clue there. When they got to Vermont, they found the clue and began a new adventure in Book 2.
4-0 out of 5 stars Chasing the Falconers
Obviously designed to be the first in a series of young adult adventure books, CHASING THE FALCONERS is rife with action -- a fast-paced, well-written thriller that never lets up. Not meant to be anything more than an action-packed story about a 15-year-old brother and his 11-year-old sister on the run from the police, this is surely a novella that will entrance most young teenagers. However, there is no depth to the meaning or characters, or elegant figurative language.

We "got" Eloise as soon as we read the first page.My daughters, 4 and 6 love, love, love Eloise. They love her antics and can visualize the trouble she gets into so innocently (or not).Eloise is curious, inventive, creative, sleuthy, and definitely oblivious. We travel a lot so my kids can relate to being in a hotel.Eloise lives in a hotel so there are lots of opportunities to involve others (other guests, employees, restaurant staff, telephone operators, etc.) in her wicked (hilarious) fun. After we read Eloise for the first time (and we love the Essential Eloise the best, then Paris) we could not wait until the next night to read some more.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Ezra Jack Keats Best Books
I don't know what ken32 is talking about but Peter's Chair has nothing to do with gender difference. It is about a boy, Peter, who is disgruntled at the change that is occuring around the house for his new baby sister Susie. Peter sees that his baby items are being painted over in pink, which is the color that will identify if the baby is going to be a girl. Babies don't care what color their furniture is.

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle has been wildly popular with children and adults for over 50 years. Children adore her because she understands them--and because her upside-down house is always filled with the smell of freshly baked cookies, and her backyard with buried treasure. Grownups love her because her magical common sense solutions to children's problems succeed when their own cajoling and yelling don't. For the child who refuses to bathe, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle recommends letting her be. Wait until the dirt on her body has accumulated to half an inch, then scatter radish seeds on her arms and head. When the plants start sprouting, the nonbather is guaranteed to change her mind about that bath. Read more

This book is great. If you ever have a problem with your child's behavior, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle is the one to call. Her outrageous solutions to common child behavior ailments seem to work well.In most cases she recommends letting the child wallow in his or her own awful behavior until rock bottom is reached.Only then is the child aware of the real-life consequences for bad behavior.

I really liked Mrs. Piggle Wiggle because there were different stories about her curing people. I have read the stories about her but think this onewas the best. Books like this are good for holding the attention of children at various levels of reading and reading comprehension. These stories have also served as a springboard for discussion in our family about finding creative new ways to accomplish the many tasks that need to be done to keep the household running. Some of the material may seem dated, but it's definetely a classic. ... The beautiful artwork and kid-freindly examples captivated my 5-year old daughter.Genuinely helped her better understand how big a million is - and, how much bigger a billion and a trillion are.A lovely addition to a classroom, but also perfect for your home library as well!

    Almost 5 Stars
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book - Often overlooked
There aren't enough children's stories that are based on Americanheroes, so this one definitely desreves much recognition. Appleseed's character is based on a true character, yet there is a a fair amount ofmyth in the story to keep things interesting and the children engaged; this book is a definitely a treat

4-0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Book About Johnny Appleseed/Chapman
My children and I seem to be on a Johnny Appleseed binge. This is one of the three books that we have read lately and our second favorite.

    Editorial Review

"I am Eloise/I am six." So begins the well-loved story of Eloise, the garrulous little girl who lives at New York's Plaza Hotel. Eyebrow raised defiantly, arm propped on one jutting hip, Eloise is a study in self-confidence. Eloise's personal mandate is "Getting bored is not allowed," so she fills her days to the brim with wild adventures and self-imposed responsibilities. An average Eloise afternoon includes braiding her pet turtle's ears, ordering "one roast-beef bone, one raisin and seven spoons" from room service, and devising innovative methods of torture for her guardians.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ooh I just love Eloise!
Awesome book!Totally loved it--my three year old finds her fascinating."Why does she want to pour a pitcher of water down the mail chute, mommy?"She's a naughty girl but such a wonderfully creative and self reliant one! I think she is a great role model for my little girls!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mother of Two
I would think someone who would be offended by the style in which "Eloise" is written would be "smart" enough to know that the expression is "for all intents and purposes" and not "intensive purposes."
    1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
Wehave one of the softcover books and enjoy it very much and so I thought I would by this for my 4-year-old (who actually acts like Eloise sometimes). BAD CHOICE! I read through it on my own before I read it to her and THANK GOODNESS! Eloise is a back-talking, foul-mouthed terror! I can see how some adults may enjoy this book - maybe they're living vicariously through her antics. But she is no example in this book for small children. I'll be more careful next time - there definitely are cute "Eloise" books out there but this one was dreadful. If you're a big fan, read it through completely first to see it it's a fit. I must say that I was horrified. ... Read more
