4-0 out of 5 stars Lovely
A beautifully produced book, spectacular illustrations, a heartwarming story. Especially perfect for a read aloud with 3rd and 4th graders.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rabbit Run
This beautiful book, both in design and form, is an example of simplicity at it's best. A doll rabbit known as Edward Tulane to his owner (a small girl named Abilene) lives a life of privilege, he has the finest clothes, he has the love of a child, and he has a beautiful gold pocket watch of his very own. There is one problem however, though Edward knows love, for Abilene does love him so, he doesn't understand love. And because he doesn't understand love, he can not love nor can he know what it means to be loved. 5-0 out of 5 stars Truley and purley amazing
This book is not only pages with letters typed on them but a true masterpiece. As I read it I cried, jumped for joy and felt that Kate Dicammilo was an amazing person. Her books (Because of Win-Dixie, The Tale of Desperaux and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane) all have won well deserved awards and loved by all who read that feel the story as if were true and truly heartwarming. I've read the story countless times and each time I feel that the world is a wondrous place. Even though Edward is a china rabbit who lives, I didn't feel that it was cartoony and amusing. I felt that it was a true story and not a book that makes you laugh at how cartony it is. You MUST read this book if you are not just a kid who thinks a book is only pages and print. Becasue it's not. I have proof; The Miraculous Story of Edward Tulane. Thanks for reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book
I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars this story was written by a woman, not Watty Piper
This story was originally written as "The Pony Engine" by Mabel C. Bragg. The Book "Little Engine That Could" is merely "RETOLD" by Watty Piper. The story was written by a woman who NEVER gets credited for it--Mabel C. Bragg. It's a charming, timeless story and an American Children's literature classic not to be missed.

Have you ever dreamed of being locked in a departmentstore at night? The endearing story of Corduroy paints a pictureof the adventures that might unfold (for a teddy bear at least) insuch a situation. 5-0 out of 5 stars friendship
This is one of my favorite children's books. It reminds me that friendship is something to value and savor for every moment, and is not something to take for granted. Just as Corduroy was doing everything in his power to find his lost butten so he would be wanted, the little girl was saving her money to have companionship from Corduroy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aaaaaawww!
I got this book when I was 6 and I still like it! It is the touching story of little Lilly, who loves her teacher but hates him when he takes away her purple plastic purse and sunglasses. It is sooo cute and very fun to read. It is very true-to-life, unlike those other stupid books that think they're tapping into the minds of children. I highly recommend this book. I even have a kid-sized purple plastic purse and a Lilly stuffed animal! This is such a cute book. 5 stars and perfect for any age!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Kevin Henkes hit
We read two books to our daughter every night. With that in mind, we pay careful attention to the books we buy to read her. I love all of Kevin Henkes' books. They are both visually delightful and entertaining for both my daughter and I. He manages to be intelligent without being corny, and as I am reading I honestly feel like her vocabulary is being broadened. He never "dumbs down" his book with easy wording. I am also an English teacher and appreciate all aspects of his work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvelous--another great Kevin Henkes book
I just started student teaching this semester and this was the first book I read to my third grade class. Some read it already, but were still very excited to hear it again and again!

This book is awesome.I think my husband and I enjoy this more than our son!The art work is fantastic and the story really captures this little girls frightening experience at the laundry mat!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Can't Wait To Read This Book To My New Granddaughter!
KNUFFLE BUNNY received the CALDECOTT HONOR award for 2004.The Caldecott Medal "shall be awarded to the artist of the most distinguished American Picture Book for Children published in the United States during the preceding year. The award shall go to the artist, who must be a citizen or resident of the United States, whether or not he or she is the author of the text."The runner-up of the Caldecott Award is called the 'Caldecott Honor Award.'So right away we know the pictures and the story are superior to most other children's books. And I can attest to the fact that this is one of the best I've seen for babies and toddlers.I know that this book is geared towards the preschool to first grade group but the pictures and text are very elementary so I imagine even little ones can identify with this story.

I LOVE Willems's books. They are all awesome! His illustrations and story lines are hillarious and fun to read aloud. The pictures in this book are especially witty as he used photographs of a real city with overlays of his own simple chracter drawings.(No, he's not paying me to say all this!)If you pay attention, you'll see a cameo of Willems's infamous "Pigeon," too!Great for youngsters and parents to read together, and will become a family favorite! ... Editorial Review

A stuffed toy rabbit (with real thread whiskers) comes to life in Margery Williams's timeless tale of the transformative power of love. Given as a Christmas gift to a young boy, the Velveteen Rabbit lives in the nursery with all of the other toys, waiting for the day when the Boy (as he is called) will choose him as a playmate. In time, the shy Rabbit befriends the tattered Skin Horse, the wisest resident of the nursery, who reveals the goal of all nursery toys: to be made "real" through the love of a human. "'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'" This sentimental classic--perfect for any child who's ever thought that maybe, just Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful heart-touching story...
Absolutely loved it.At first, I thought it was strange...Because I thought it would be animated, but instead it was a sequence of still pictures.Like, as if, you were reading the book. But, within the first few minutes I was hooked and a half hour flew by with a wonderful ending.Meryl Streep does a beautiful job narrating the story and the piano music by George Winston is lovely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story
This book is simply a delight! I bought it for my granddaughter who is 9 months. She loves for me to read it to her. We just love it!!

2-0 out of 5 stars The story behind the story is more interesting
This book is simply not that great. The rubber ducky sound at the end is cute but nothing to applaud. The art is borderline awful and, while the story behind the story is cute, it just did not come out great as a children's book. I must confess, I am not an Eric Carle fan though, with the exception of The Very Busy Spider, which I enjoyed. To put it simply, don't bother. The two redeeming qualities of this book are 1) it teaches counting well (the first rubber duck, the second rubber duck) and it exposes the kids to animals you do not see every day (octupus, flamingo, pelican).

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Emergent Readers
As an Early Childhood professional I am always looking for goods books rich in language, story and pictures. This book is one of Eric Carle's best books.I am a teacher/owner of Oceanside Pre-Kindergarten a unique Literacy based program to help children prepare for Kindergarten in today's intense learning environment in formal education.

Pooh may be the headliner, but some of the stories I remember best are those of James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George Dupree (who took great care of his mother, though he was only three), Emmeline (who went to see the Queen), and King John (whose list for Father Christmas contained just one item, a big red India-rubber ball). Everything is written from a perspective that a child would understand, without judgment, without condescension... This is a wonderful collection. I can still see Pooh trying to get his head out of the Hunny jar, Owl going on at length about the Spotted or Herbaceous Backson, Eeyore mourning his popped balloon.Whether your kids read these books themselves, or you read to them, these books are a treasure they'll want to pass down to their kids. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, Silly and Most Importantly, Engaging for Young Readers!
I think every young child whose ever accidentally released a balloon into the wild blue yonder has wondered what happens to them...and this book gives kids some whimsical ideas about the secret life of balloons that should ease their minds about what happens...I suppose this is a better way for kids to think about it than just popping somewhere up there and plummeting to the ground. The words are written in silly rhymes and the illustrations are lush and whimsical...just plain silly and loads of fun for young readers.Younger kids (2-4) will like having the opportunity to explore each page and older kids (5-8) will enjoy reading all the additional text loaded onto each page (balloons writing post cards, signs for various things, ect...) that should help keep their interest when the simple rhyme is, well, too simple for them to enjoy. Each page feels rather like an explosion of art and whimsy...it is that chaotic splendor that kids can't help but love!!Where to Balloons Go? doesn't provide any scientific explanation...but it's not meant to, it's just plain fun!! Kids and adults alike will have fun reading this and diving right into the incredible illustrations...if you've got a kid 4-8, this is a must read!!

5-0 out of 5 stars artistic, creative, clever, addictive!!
my daughter absolutely loves this book. the age range says 4 and up but my daughter is two and loves it and is addicted to it. she wants me to read it to her before her nap and bedtime. i would say not to leave it down where a child under 4 could rip the pages. this books verbage and artwork is so clever. my daughter and i both get a kick out of it. there are reusable stickers included in the back of the book and you can use them on the pretty inside covers in the front or back (slick surface- either cloud or space background). she always sees them when we are done reading and can't wait until she can one day play with them. she loves stickers but tends to rip them and ruin them at this age- so i'm waiting to let her play with these! i would recommend this book to anyone, and i know i will buying this as gifts!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for a child that has lost someone.
I don't know if this was the original message intended, but I've found this book to be a great tool for helping kids cope with loss. Whether it be a grandparent or a pet, this can open the lines of communication with a young child and help explain things that sometimes adults have difficulty putting into words. I'm a hospice nurse, and know that this book has been reccommended for children in our field for years - and it's darned cute to boot! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Olivia, like many young pigs, experiences life very intensely. She is utterly obsessed with having her mother make her a red soccer shirt (even though the team color is green), until, of course, she discovers that her favorite toy, her very best toy, is missing, at which point she becomes utterly obsessed with finding it. She looks under the rug, the sofa, and the cat. She shouts accusingly at both her younger brother Ian and her baby brother William, who responds with an unsatisfactory "Wooshee gaga." That night (a dark and stormy one), she hears a horrible sound emanating from behind a closed door, and, in a dramatic scene illuminated by her flaming candelabra and showcased in a fold-out spread, she sees the family dog Perry chewing her favorite toy to bits. As devastating as this is to a passionate young pig, "even Olivia couldn't stay mad forever." She sews up her dismembered toy and falls asleep that very night cozied up with both it and the toy-wrecking Perry. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Olivia ...and the Missing Toy
Olivia is the kind of book that is never boring. My children ages six and two absolutely adore this book. Needles to say, that is one of those books you will always remember. We own all of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magnificent Olivia
The Olivia series of books is simply wonderful.Olivia is a very independent, strong-willed little pig who is not afraid of anything and the result is truly entertaining and very comical. My children love this book the best because it is very well written and with just the right emphasis on certain wording when I read it, they roll on the floor giggling hysterically. My daughter walks around quoting the book out loud as she has most of the book memorized because the children have asked me to read it to them so many times.

4-0 out of 5 stars Olivia back again
In this thrid adventure we find Oliva once again exerting her individuality, demanding a new uniform color...so she can look different from the rest of the team. She then becomes further self-absorbed in a quest for her lost toy. Also in this installment we meet her father, a somewhat dotng pig, Olivia doesn't seem to mind.

Although their mother supplies a key, the cabinet still doesn't seem like much of a present. But when an exhausted Omri dumps a plastic toy Indian into the cabinet just before falling asleep, the magic begins. Turn the key once and the toy comes alive; turn it a second time and it's an action figure again. Read more

Editorial Review

Seventy-five years ago, that most beloved of "silly old bears,"Winnie-the-Pooh, came down the stairs, "bump, bump, bump," on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. And now, after generations of children have grown upon stories about Pooh's adventures with his forest friends, the four all-timechildren's classics from A.A. Milne and Ernest H. Shepard have been collected inone hefty, handsome volume for another multitude of generations to enjoy.Gathered together are the poems and tales that celebrate heffalumps, Eeyore'sbirthday, the unbouncing of Tigger, Disobedience, Buckingham Palace, andsneezles. The stories about Pooh getting stuck in Rabbit's doorway, Piglet doinga "Very Grand Thing," and Eeyore losing a tail (and Pooh finding one) aretimeless favorites for children--and grownups--of all ages. Four originalclassics are here, in all their glory: Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Collection of Classic Stories and Poems
Finding a "Winnie the Pooh" book is easy. It all depends what you are looking for. For the many parents and grandparents hoping to read the wonderful stories to younger people the adventures of Pooh, Christopher Robin, Tigger, Eyeore, Piglet, Kanga, Rabbit, Owl and the rest, this will be more than adequate.
5-0 out of 5 stars I am Pooh!
ever since i can remember, my nick name has always been Pooh...because supposedly i am a bear of very litle brain! plus i'm blond! The reason for the nick name was that it is my favourite book in the world, and i never tire of it! Some may think that the name is vulgar, but once you start to read it, you love it more and more. Without doubt one of the best books ever written, if not the best. If you haven't read it, i advise you do, because it is every bit as magical, as everybody thinks it is.

Editorial Review

When Christopher Robin asks Pooh what he likes doing best in the world, Pooh says, after much thought, "What I like best in the whole world is Me and Piglet going to see You, and You saying 'What about a little something?' and Me saying, 'Well, I shouldn't mind a little something, should you, Piglet,' and it being a hummy sort of day outside, and birds singing."Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Winning Book
The tales are lovable, enjoyable and moving, and perhaps the most important thing is that although written for kids, we adults can reflect on the way we live our daily lives. We live through the pages the feelings of all characters fear, amazement, joy, kindness, self-inflicted misery, competitiveness, good times, and most of all, positiveness and passion to enjoy and nature true friendship. We have these feelings and emotions as human beings. There are Rabbits, and Tiggers and Owls and Piglets all around us and we can barely seem to recognize them in our friends or the people we communicate with every day. Illustrations are gorgeous,an outstanding vision of life.

Who doesn't love Winnie The Pooh? Don't answer that. This is an excellent and charming book to use for bedtime stories for children. I grew up with it and I still love it! It endears the simplicity of life and love...and honey.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Winner!
My boys (ages 5 & 2.5) have enjoyed this book so much that we quicky hurried back to the bookstore hoping that Mini Grey had written a sequel! A definite winner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Square-jawed satire
This spoof of superhero comics and their ubiquitous action figures is so darn funny it's impossible to get through a first reading without pausing to hold your ribs. But it has a Shrek problem: its best lines zoom straight over kids' heads and target Mom and Dad.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Ever!
This is a fantastic, fun, imaginative children's book that me and my husband love to read to our child. Mini Grey captures a child's imagination with such precision that it brings back hilarious memories of our own fantastic pretend worlds. Great work Mini! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE this book!
I have a 1 year old who is mesmerized by this book... the vibrant pictures and rhyming words keep him entertained from start to finish (and start to finish and start to finish)... I usually read it several times before he lets me put it down!
5-0 out of 5 stars I never thought I could love a children's book so much.
This one is fun to read, with wonderful rhymes and rhythms, and it has terrific, colorful illustrations.I wish I could find more books like it, because my two sons both adore it.In fact, my 4 year old routinely sneeks it out of my toddler's bedroom, so that I can read it to him again at bedtime.

5-0 out of 5 stars Heirloom Quality Collectible Book - It's that good!
After reading the review of this book, I was hopeful but not too excited. A few days later, after ordering a new copy of the book from Amazon, I was elated. This is the WINNIE THE POOH book I have been waiting for, for years. Someone finally took the time and loving care to do it right. Everything about this book, from the color, cut out bookcover (and COLOR hardcover cover underneath it!) to the light yellow butter colored pages with full color EH Shephard illustrations lavishly presented throughout, this book is obviously a work of love. The map of 100 Acre Wood on both front and back inside cover is in color!!This beautiful edition was produced to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of this story and it is a winner. The story itself, of course, is priceless and enduring, but the presentation, this time around wins kudos. I immediately placed it on my bookshelf. This one is a keeper. Don't miss out - and don't buy cheaper editions - trust me, this is the one you want. Worth every penny and more. ... Read more
