Snap this one up!
Being allowed to read this book to kindergarteners, first graders and second graders is SO MUCH FUN, I can't believe I am getting paid to do it.
A Worst Case Scenario Picture Book
So there you are, three kids alone in a lovely apartment in the city.What could possibly go wrong?Plenty! Especially when the alligator from the sewers decides to invade your home!This delightful funny/scary picture book is a welcome addition to my read aloud favorites.
And do the children love it? You bet they do!
Checked 'Snip Snap' out of our local library and the kids loved it so much that I had to order one of our own. I have a 5 year old and a young 2 year old, and they both love it. The second I am done reading they emplore, "Again!" As a parent I appreciate the empathetic handling of fear and the way the children stand up to the aligator together. The illustrations are lively and humorous. I have given it as a gift already, and will again.

Bad Book
Never read this book.It is boring.The author repeats everything over and over again.

Good Enough
This Everglades story is an interesting ecological mystery, but it's a bit too repetitive. (By now if you've read all my reviews you'll know it's one of my pet peeves.) Searching for a missing alligator the entire story is a bit too much, hm? Well, overall it's a good ecological mystery, but only if you're bored should you make the drastic decision to read it.

The Missing Gator of Gumbo Limbo
I have just finish reading a book call The Missing Gator of Gumbo Limbo. It's about a family who don't have a house yet, because they don't have enough money to build a house. The father was in another country, doing business around the world. He doesn't even know what's happening to his family. Many people say that they don't have house. Well they are, but the mother says that they were on a vacation. She always said that every time because she doesn't want people to know it. So now, their daughter named Liza K., is an adventures girl. She knows all the places in the forest. She even has an alligator friend. Now, she and her friends must save the forest from the people who want to destroy, but then, her alligator friend lost. Fun for everyone!
This book is especially wonderful because it combines Wilson's wonderful talent for rhyming with a short counting lesson and a story with a twist.It's also fun for parents to read, and the illustrations have fun twists that make the book enjoyable night after night!

This book is fun and easy to read and keeps my child's interest!

Great for bedtime reading
My three year old daughter loves the book specially saying out the paragraphs loud with me. It has also diversified her reading out of TV and Disney characters based books.The photographs are drawn very beautifully and should appeal more as she gets older.

Getting into Bed Can Be Hazardous (when you're little)
Like so many of us when we were children, our young hero in _There's an Alligator Under My Bed_ has trouble getting into bed safely due to the dangers that lurk under his bed.Since his parents never see the creature, he decides he must deal with it himself.

My 3 year old son and 5 year old daughter love this book!It is a must read every night before bed.The illustration is wonderful and the story absolutely adorable!!!!

A Good Book for Toddlers, Preschoolers and on Up
"There's an Alligator Under My Bed" was on my entering-kindergartner's summer reading list and I can certainly understand why.It is a wonderful story about a little boy who conquers his fears.In this case, a large alligator that has taken up residency under his bed.

A story of love
Guji Guji is one of my favorite picture books.The fact that it is written and illustrated by a Taiwanese author makes it extra special for me (also Taiwanese).In a world where respect for diversity and differences is fast becoming a slogan/cliche, the message behind Guji Guji is truly touching.

An Enchanting Children's "Read"
Guji Guji was recommended to me, the Grandmother of a 3 year old, by a highschool chum who has lived in England most of her adult life.She is the national coordinator of one of the UK's top annual book awards and the adoptive mother of four children.The book is absolutely enchanting both in story content and gorgeous illustrations. I enthusiastically give Guji Guji a five star rating.

Lyle the crocodile lives in a house on East 88th Street in New York City. He likes it there, and his hosts, the Primms, like having him around--he helps young Joshua with his homework, jumps-rope with the neighborhood kids, and browses through antique shops with Mrs. Primm. great book!
I just purchased this title for my 4 year old daughter, and she (and I) really love it!!! The title of the book doesn't really grab you but it's a sweet story about how the neighbor Mr Grumps really doesn't like Lyle, has him banished to the zoo, and then Lyle ends up saving Mr Grumps. I really like the characters in this series because they remind me of real life people that your kids will have to deal with at some point or another. My daughter was totally engaged.

A Book to Remember
I am now 21 years old and I can still remember the opening line to this tape. The Lyle books are wonderful for children and this tape is a great way to put your child to sleep. The Lyle books are truly one of my greatest childhood memories!

A crocodile just as sweet as Pogo's Albert the Alligator
A picture book with more backstory than you could possibly imagine.For many, the delightful "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" is a perennial favorite.I, myself, had never read it before.When first we see Lyle, he's standing in the center of Central Park (this is most definitely a New York based book) feeding the ducks.Occupying a swank apartment (you should see his bathroom!) with the Primm family, Lyle is everyone's favorite crocodile.He's polite, helpful, and wonderful at double dutch.The ever dour Mr. Grumps next door has problems with the beloved Lyle.Mr. Grumps continually threatens to send Lyle away, but it isn't until an unfortunate department store incident that Mr. Grumps makes good his threats.In the end, however, all turns out for the best and Lyle is reunited with his loving family.Read more

Who wouldn't love Lyle?
What would you do if you found that your new house came with an unexpected tenant - a caviar-eating crocodile named Lyle?This story tells the tale of an unlikely friendship with humor and sensitivity.A wonderful book to share with even the youngest ofchildren.

A charming children's classic
I first read Bernard Waber's The House on East 88th Street as a child and was capitivated by Lyle the Crocodile. How I loved this story about a bright green crocodile living in a bathtub in a New York City brownstone.Though frightened at first, the Primm family is won over by their housemate. Lyle is amazing, he takes out the trash, brings in the milk, (this book was first published in 1962!)helps around the house, andloves a nice, hot bath complete with Turkish caviar! (We could all use a Lyle) The story of Lyle does not end here; Waber went on to write seven more titles about this lovable creature. Out of all the Lyle books, this is his best-known. This charming children's classic is suitable for small children between the ages of four and eight.

Almost as much fun to read as it is for the kids
I've read this one to a class of 2nd graders who were begging for more by the end.The only complaint I got was that I only read the dialogue with a Cajun accent instead of the entire book!I'm watching for more books bythis author and plan to buy every one.

I DEVOURED IT!

the crocodile lives in the river and goes to town to eat kids. But all he does always backfires because of the anmals. The last disguise was the most surprising part.

If you have a child between 3 and 8, you should buy this book.The late, great James Marshall (Edward was a pseudonym) had the rare ability to tell a story using easy-to-read words, but still with genuinely surprising and humorous twists.This book's ending is a brilliant twist, which I will not spoil here.Read more

Alfie is a hit!
This is a fantastic book!We just received May I Please Have A Cookie a few days ago and we've already read it so many times that we've practically got it memorized!The story teaches a valuable lesson and the illustrations are terrific.My six-year-old laughs every time he sees the picture where Alfie's pretend moustache falls off!

A fun counting and rhyming story
This is a fun story of a monkey who wants some bananas from a tree but has to cross a sea of crocodiles to do it. By counting the crocodiles, (and ultimately outsmarting the crocodiles) the monkey does just that.It has become a family favorite. It has increased our little's girls awareness of counting and her phonemic awareness through the rhyming words.

Interesting Things Happen in the Sillabobble Sea!
As a mother of a 3 year old daughter and an early childhood educator, this is probably my most favorite book available. Grown-ups will love it, kids love it more!!
When we borrowed this from the library, we read it several times per day, and my kids were begging to keep it when it was time to return it. Now we have to buy a copy for ourselves, plus one for a gift. The rhymes are better than clever--maybe even brilliant!With the catchy rhythm, this was easily the most fun book I've ever read with my kids.My four-year-old daughter was soon reading it to her brother, with the help of the fantastic illustrations.All in all, a very fun book that will thrill young and old! ... Old Monsieur Gator is very slow. He moves "slower than saw grassgrows" and "slower than a snail with sore feet." He can no longer catch any ofhis tasty fellow bayou creatures to eat, "And--oh ho!--themcritters sure know it." The possum, skunk, and otter taunt him, wigglingand sashaying just out of his reach. Finally, Gator gets hot (red hot)and hatches a crafty plan--he will make gumbo. When he asks who willhelp him, Little Red Hen-style, the creatures don't say "Not I," but "Iain't," (a reply more fitting for a Louisiana bayou). But when Gatorfinishes his okra and crawdad soup, and asks "Who' gonna help eat it?"the chorus chimes "Me! Me!" Gator agrees to let the otter, skunk,and possum take a sip, but when they lean over the pot, slurping andslipping, "Them animals go into the pot." A harsh fate for Gator's sassytormenters? Perhaps, but revenge is downright tasty for Monsieur Gator.Read more

A cautionary tale
This Cajun-style version of the little red hen has a real twist at the end of the story. There are wonderful rhythms and repeats that invite listeners to chant along with the story. Kids who are used to "happy, clappy" endings were open-mouth when has some of the characters come to a very bad end! I love cautionary tales!

Fun book about alligators
Very nice book, very fun, great characters, nice graphics and a high learning curve and this is better than Disneyland.

A fun twist on the Little Red Hen
Both my 3 year old son and my 7 year old cousin love this book so it covers a lot of age ground.You don't have to be good at accents to read this book because the wounderful choice of words turn any readers voice into "bayou speak".I've gotten several copies to give as gifts and in all a couple of pages have blurred type (obviously not intentional) so that is my only reservation in recommending it. ...
