This book has it all!
Rarely does a book combine learning and fun so well.This book is very educational (it has helped make my kids wild about geography) yet has a humor that is simple enough for my two year old to laugh and sophisticated enough to make me laugh as well.

The Student Bible Atlas
I have been looking for just this kind of atlas for my 5th and 6th grade Sunday School class.The main thing I like about it is that it uses the same map of Israel and shows it at the various periods.Most atlases and Sunday School curricula show various maps instead of one map that changes over time.I liked the comparison maps of the empires.The comments and illustrations with each map are also useful.

Excellent Companion to Bible for Both Child and Adult!
This is definitely a worthy purchase if you have achild and as well if you (admit it) still get mixed up a bit with Middle East geography, especially when it comes to what an area was called years ago and what its present-day name is.When you read a passage to your child, show him withthis each time where that scripture was taking place at that time period(the atlas shows name changes and political boundaries in different timesegments). So many maps, so little time
I ordered this for my 5 year old daughter because the price was right. But, I was happily surprised by how thorough and lovely the pictures are. The beginning of the book contains a comprehensive section on how to read maps, and explains how a map can represent different information (climate, politics, terrain). Each continent also had photographs of the people, and natural formations that are identified with it. That was nice! Beautiful!

Excellent starter for beginners and quick reference
There will always be times when you wonder how a part of your body works. This is especially true when you start to notice you are getting old, suffer from injuries, or people close to you have some kind of illness.
Beautiful atlas, great reference.
This book is a very good atlas for Anatomy and physiology.I used this book for my college undergrade A and P courses.It shows the various muscles, nervous system and skeletal system with the utmost clarity to name a few.The pictures are of top quality and make anatomy and physiology easier to understand.I also used Tortora's Principles of Anatomy and Physiology as my primary text, which is also very good.However, I used Patrick Leonardi's Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations Volume 1 and Volume 2.These two study guides were excellent sources for knowing what high yield questions that appeared on my test.Take it from me, I got excellent grades.

Essential for Anatomy Students
I just started my first anatomy & physiology class and I'm mighty glad I found this book.I have a huge textbook (Tortora, Grabowski) and a photographic atlas for the lab (Van De Graaff, Crawley) yet the Essential Atlas is my main choice when I need to understand the body's systems.It's filled with beautiful,clearly labeled color pictures and, because it's only 96 pages, it's a joy to pick up and look at.For the price, you can't beat this book! ... Misleading or incorrect information in reference book
It's disturbing to see how many mistakes I found just browsing through this colorful, attractive book.Though the state bird of Alabama is known locally as "yellowhammer," you will not find that name in any field guide!The accompanying picture was no help either in identifying what turned out to be the Common Flicker. Other state birds were listed by uncommon, incorrect, misleading names too.
Makes for an attractive, appealing presentation
The State-By-State Atlas is organized by region and features information about each state's landscape, industry, agriculture, population and history, using digital color maps and photos to help emphasize geographic facts. The emphasis on color embellishments makes for an attractive, appealing presentation.

Neat book!
This is a great book, very informative and well organized...I just have one gripe...Pennsylvania is listed as the 32nd state, when actually it was the 2nd...Minnesota was also listed as the 32nd state, which was correct...call me anal but I'm teaching a class on the 50 states so I have to be accurate, and depend on my references to be accurate as well! ... A valuable reference for anyone interested in space
This is a wonderful book, exploring nearly every aspect of space, from the Big Bang to black holes. The book is easy to understand and fun to read whether you're doing a project about space or if you just enjoy reading about it. It's chock-full of hundreds of beautiful photographs and realistic-looking pictures, too. The book is accurate, colorful, and up-to-date, and I enjoy looking through it and reading it in my spare time. Great book
This is not just an ordinary book about the solar system, it is rich with information about all aspects of space from observing the universe, exploring space, the solar system, stars, galaxies and practical stargazing. My son first saw an older editionof the Atlas at a relative's house....
As soon as we got home, I ordered the newest version for my son. He is 11 and very much into maps and geography. I don't understand the review from the School Journal that called this book "superficial." My son pours over the facts, pictures, and maps. Yes, it is a "pretty" book but it is also filled with much information for children. The Maps and Mapmaking sections were of particular interest to my son. We are planning to try a few of the projects as part of our homeschool this coming school year. All in all, this a good addition to a child's own library!

My son (5 years old) loves this book.He likes for me to show him where on the maps we are and where we have been.He also likes to know where his extended family is located.(You have to love anything you can "sneak" some education in on.)It has excellent illustrations and interesting facts that will make this an enjoyable book for many years to come as my kids develope and expand their understanding capabilities.

Not what I expected
I bought this expecting simple maps that my daughter could use to track the routes we were driving.Well, it's simplistic all right.It doesn't mark many of the cities we drive through.It is more of a car activity book.It's got puzzles and games to keep children busy, but its maps are more like general overviews of the states.For children younger than seven, this is probably good.Older children would most likely prefer a real road atlas with all the roads and cities marked.
Loved it!
We bought a book for each of our two children.Our eight-year-old stayed busy with the puzzles, and had lots of questions about things on the maps which made for good car conversation (and good geography lessons for all of us).The best part was marking off our route with a highlighter pen at every rest stop; she could track our progress along the way and see exactly what town we were stopping in next.It made the "how much longer?" questions easier to answer ("Look on your map!").Our six-year-old was slightly too young for some of the puzzles, but liked highlighting the route as well as marking off the license plate state chart (hint: Mt. Rushmore is a treasure trove of license plates!).We will use these atlases on every car trip.Highly recommended.

Great Book for a Family on the Go!
This book is really fun for kids. My 4 year old really enjoyed being able to help navagate on our road trip. The pictures and maps are easy for children to understand. Also, the road games help pass the time on a long road trip. The only problem with the book is the decorative font they used on the heading of each page. It was difficult for my child to read and understand what the letters were. But that was only in the heading of each page. Everything else is very easy to read. Worth the 4 star rating I gave! ... Fun, easy learning
We bought this as a gift for our soon-to-be first grader.We have been traveling a lot this summer and the fandex is a fun, easy way for our daughter to look at the states we have been through.Concise and easily manipulable for little people.

The 50 States Fandex cards were in excellent condition and arrived quickly.I have a 4 year old who is learning so much from them.

As a curriculum developer, I am constantly on the lookout for educational products that will enhance textbook study. The best atlas on earth forever!
This atlas I got from my aunt and uncle as a present.Its a fun way to learn about the earth and all the countries and continents.this atlas would be great for you!If you are looking for an atlas get this one!It is my favorite atlas!

Graphics look nice, but maps are a problem
You can't beat the price for this very colorful atlas with lots of pictures and graphs that kids will like, but it has a major flaw in that almost every map is split by the tight binding.Information is lost by being buried in the gutterless pages, which makes the maps almost usless.Hopefully, future Scholastic (and other publishers') atlases will be designed with a map on one page and the graphs, pictures and info on the other.We had high hopes for acquiring such a reasonably priced atlas for our library patrons to use, and were very disappointed.It's a shame to waste such nice resources on poor layout.

A Great Kid's Atlas!
This is a wonderful Atlas for an elementary school aged child.It lists languages, currency, religion, population, etc etc for each country clearly.Great information on rivers and mountains as well.Colorful, clearly displayed information makes it easy to use.My son reads atlas this for fun! ... My six year old daughter loved this book.The words were easy enough for her to read and the repetition reinforced her early reading skills.We used this book as an introduction to perspective, maps, and self-awareness.The pictures were fresh, clean, and uncluttered.We plan on getting the rest of the series.

Great Perspective for Younger Children
A very simplistic but impacting look at maps from a me/mine perspective beginning with her room, house, street... all the way to world and then back to room.The theme is "everyone has a special place in the world and this is how you'll find me"; using a map.The illustrations of the map are very vague in terms of detail, but gives a great relative perspective of the area it comprises.It will introduce the younger children and provide a more vivid explanation to the older ones.I would recommend ages K-4th grades. ... Comprehensive Journey into Dinosaur Worlds
Who discovered the first dinosaur?
A great guide for teaching young paleotologists about how and where dinosaurs lived
I have been hooked on dinosaurs every since my great aunt took me to the Great Hall of Dinosaurs at the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University.This was so long ago the apatosaurus was known as a brontosaurus because they had the head of a camposaurus sitting on top of the giant skeleton that dominates the hall, along with Rudolph Zallinger's "The Age of Reptiles" mural.One of the neat things there is a triceratops on which a faux skin has been placed on one side.I mention that because in this "Dinosaur Atlas" authors John Malam and John Woodward, along with consultant Professor Michael Benton, go so far beyond that display that it makes me want to laugh with delight.Finding out about dinosaurs in the 21st century is proving to be a lot of fun.
