2-0 out of 5 stars Different from Mac version
The book is composed of hard to see screenshots with commentary. The screenshots and descriptions are quite different form the Mac OS X version. It was somewhat helpfull but there are sites online that do a better job.

4-0 out of 5 stars To the MAX
When you play Max Payne one of the first things you might notice is the way the blood splatters. It is very cool and this is where the Max Payne(TM) Official Strategy Guide comes into play. It shows you how to get the most from your weapons, whats the best way to take out the bad guys(SPLATTER), and most important when to do that MATRIX-type effect that you can only do on MAX PAYNE. 4-0 out of 5 stars This payne is the best

5-0 out of 5 stars doing time online is the best book I have ever read
I like this book becuse the book teaches you what you should doand what you should not do.The title of the book is Doing Time Online. But you should read this book becse it is like normal day life. There is some mystries in this book. The peoplesname in the story is Michell,Trotter, and Wootie there are some more people in it but there the main.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Hard Lesson Learned
Everyone loves a good book, but not every book is an amazing piece of work. An amazing book is Doing Time Online. This book is about learning a hard lesson. These golden pages are written by Jan Siebold. Before this book was published she had written one other book called Rope Burn. This book Doing Time Online has won four awards. To of which are the ALA Booklist and School Library Journal award. This book deserves this award. In this book, Mitchel the boy gets in trouble over the summer and has to do a program that is called `OLD' which stands for Online Discussion.Mitchel now has to talk to a senior citizen online. The name of the lady Mitchel has to talk to is Wootie Hayes. The main part of the punishment is that he has to talk to the lady every Tuesday and Thursday. In the end Mitchel starts to open his feelings to Wootie but what does she stay?I like Mitchel because he can outsmart people. He outsmarted a kid named Trotter by telling he was on tape confessing that he stole a kid's really fancy bike. The tape recorder wasn't really on nor did it have a record button. There was another time where Mitchel out smarted a lady. The lady lost her cat and he and Trotter where hiding in the bushes and they started to meow to trick the lady that her cat was there. The lady heard the meow but something bad happened. In the story the words where very easy to understand. The words where not that difficult, though they where interesting so it made it easy to read.Even the words where easy to follow the writer made the common words mind blowing, so I thought that made the book interesting. The best part of the book was that the writer used eye catching words like "I picked up a golden brown leaf.
3-0 out of 5 stars Doing time online
Doing time online is a great book! A boy named mitcell is told by a police officer to go on the in computer at the police station every day after school becouse of what mitchels worst enemy did to him. I think his name was Troy. Troy was a bad kid. What did Troy do?

5-0 out of 5 stars From Children's Literature Review
Using a question-and-answer format with mundane cartoon illustrations, the authors deal with typical questions young readers ask about hardware, software, the Internet, computer manners, and the "hard topredict" future of computers. Aside from a few geeky projects (aCD-ROM mobile), the book has things fun to know, such as a list ofemoticons, many interesting websites arranged by topic to try, and ahelpful glossary for those who have trouble separating an FAQ from a CPU.Some answers are pretty technical for younger readers but this is the kindof book you read in rather than through, and computer users from the mostnaive to the above-average in skills will find something of usehere.5-0 out of 5 stars More reviews from Publishers Weekly, San Diego, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too vital! You gotta have this book!
Riven was a super challenge and I hate cheating. This book was so awesome because it gave you ONLY the help you wanted when(if) you get to the point that you get really stuck. It is well divided so you don't see clues/info that would give away something that you didn't want to know. These people should get hired to write solution books for all the top games! It keeps you from being tempted to cheat because it is so well written & laid out. A true asset to the game of Riven! Honest!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but lacking some crucial info
I liked the pictures and the walkthrough and all the other things in the game, but in some real important places it "failed me". I couldn't understand how it meant to enter the number into the domes or thestar fissure portal and had to figure it out myself.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for younger kids
I had purchased for my 9 year old (who is a very advanced reader and gifted student) the Usborne World History book. She LOVED that book, and has read it cover to cover several times. I figured that the Usborne Science Encyclopedia would be similarly interesting to her.Wrong.She has barely touched the Science Encyclopedia. The problem with the Science Encyclopedia is that it is very complex and written at a very high level. I wouldn't recommend it for a child less than 14 or 15 and maybe even beyond that.
5-0 out of 5 stars Science Encyclopedia a wealth of information at low cost.
My wife and I have enjoyed the Science Encyclopedia very much. The interweaving of the internet web sites make this a great information resource.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must for All Homeschoolers!
We are classically educating our children at home, and I was a little nervous about teaching chemistry to a 3rd grader. But this book allows you to study your topic in as much depth as you wish.In addition to the helpful websites (some are more helpful than others, admittedly), there are mini experiments and "see for yourself" projects that are fun, safe and educational.Theories are presented as theories, not facts. However, creation or "intelligent design" are not presented at all, which makes this encyclopedia incomplete.Other Christian homeschoolers may have a problem with the "800 million years ago..." jargon, but that's why we homeschool- to weed out the nonsense in our children's education.HOMESCHOOLERS: READ MY OTHER REVIEWS! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This book is very helpful!A review by Princess Daisy
This game is pretty hard, and I really had a hard time figuring it out, but this book really, really helped me!If you have this game, then you'll definintely need this book! This game is great!(Too bad Daisy isn't in it.It'd be better that way.)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Book, But Not Strategy Wise
Arguably, when these third-party companies try to make very good strategy guides for video games, they just really need to be improved little by little everytime. Arguably, it sometimes must be a better option to buy it directly from the company that conjured the game. With Brady Books issuing of their strategy guide to Super Mario Sunshine, it does showcase some great detail on some of the most difficult courses, but it just doesn't seem to showcase enough particularly on the harder levels, and the secret courses. I only suggest that you get this, if you can't find any other strategy guide. Otherwise, get the actualy strategy guide that officially Nintendo made for Super Mario Sunshine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good guide, hard game.
Game needs better controls, but the guide is very good. I highly recommend this guide. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Build lots of tanks
Did you read the title to this review? Good, now you don't need to buy the official RA strategy guide - that's all the good advice it offers, other than absurdly obvious things like "Don't kill the friendly medic" and "Avoid the flame turrets".3-0 out of 5 stars Reasonably good, could have been better
As gaming guide for bellaonline.com, I spend a good portion of my time testing games and reading the strategy guides to see if I missed anything. I *love* Red Alert as a game, but this book doesn't quite do justice to it.The maps they give you are pretty hideous, and the descriptions they giveof the solutions to missions are often extremely vague. I realize it's hardto do a walkthrough for a game like this, but there are usually methodsthat work very well for a mission, and they simply don't give you thosedetails. The first 60 pages are wasted on troop reviews! I like their tipsystem, and feel they were on the right track ... they just didn't quiteget there.

2-0 out of 5 stars An embarrasment
To me it seems like this is merely an attempt to get kids who don't know about how professional games are made to think that they will be able to make comercial quality 3D games.I have run demo versions for the software in the book and can tell you personally that it's useless.I looked at it at this book store for a short time, but it was long enough for me to realize that all it was was an alternative "manual" for some lame software.I would only recomend buying this if you are under the age of 9, and want to experiment with 3D graphics.I can tell you that anyone over nine who wishes to become a professional game programmer or hobbyist will not have trouble using computer languages like C and C++ along with API's like OpenGL (although you will be making text games for quite a while, it's well worth it), because I myself started at that age.I feel that if I had tried to use this book first, I would have wasted a large amount of time getting nothing productive done.I only give it two stars because of it's value for younger children, and those not serious about large projects.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good book
This book teaches you how to use some pretty amazing software: Clickteam's "The Game Factory". If your goal is to quickly learn how to make 2D games, then this book is for you. The software (which comes with the book) includes a large number of graphics including animated characters, which you can make walk around the screen, fall, jump, kick or die. The 3D section is also good, and shows you how to use Pie-in-the Sky 3D software. This book is not for you if you are a hard-core programmer, but if your goal is to make some pretty good games easily, then this is it. I had a great time with this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3D Game Creation by Luke Ahearn
I think this is a nice game maker for rookies I got this book but pie in the sky software was old on mine so it wouldn't go because a have a new computer. The games Factory is a fun way to make 2d games. I've made a level on a game and its pretty good. I think this is good for rookies that want to become game makers. It talks you through the different games and walk you through carefully I like it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not always right...
For Crash Bandicoot 2, this was an awesome guide. It tells you just about where everything is, how many boxes are in a level, and how to get all the crystals and gems.Though they don't tell you all the secrets, (because there are hardly any) it will help get through the game. However, there are no maps to help you pin point things.Needless to say that this is not a problem.Screenshots are placed in some wrong areas, and they don't help you too well with bosses, but the guide will tell you how to defeat them.Very well done guide.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review for Play it Again a Madison Finn book
I LOVED the Madison Finn book called Play It Again!!:)If you haven't read it I'll fill you in on this book. This book is funny and is about a girl named Madison and her 7th grade life at Far Hills Jr. High. In this book it's happy and can resemble what your life is like, like when Madison got nervous in front of her crush, that was a thing that you might have happen in your life. Another reason why this book ROCKS is that you can read every line of this book and picture it in your head like a movie, and I'm not talking about popcorn with that (just kidding). This book is funny from when Madison tells about when she fainted in front of the whole school when she was in 2nd grade. I also like this book because it is based on every day life and always has advice and answeres for your every questions. If your a Madision Finn fan well then you'll love Play it Again. My advice to you is I can't make you read this but maybe this review will. My last words I need to say about Play It Again, THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!!!:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Maddie Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Magic School bus Gets Programmed--a book about computers
The magic school bus always teaches you lessons while making it exciting and quite zany. In this particular story, they are teaching you how to use computers, how computers work, and also why they are good to know about. The students in Ms. Frizzle's class go on another fieldtrip, this time into a computer. The class wants to find an easy way to do all of their jobs before school starts, so they use the help of a super computer and carlos' brother, Mikey-a very computer savvy person. When they start to program the computer to do their jobs for them, they are in for a surprise. Ms. Frizzle decides the best way for them to learn about the computer I s to actually go inside of the computer. They are then taken on a wild ride in the mind of a super computer. This book teaches about computers, and a good way to learn the hands on way. The book, for younger kids, mightbe boring because of its length and storyline, but I think it's a good book for children who want to learn about computers. ... Read more
