5-0 out of 5 stars Budding fashion designers will love it!
This is an excellent book that my 12 year old daughter, and ALL her friends have truly enjoyed. The book comes with stencils for outfits. It also comes with patterned paper to use for the outfits. It has a great selection of paper. The paper is similar to scrapbook paper but seems specially designed for the small outfits as the patterns on the paper go well with small outfits. Finally, it has some wire hangers - sized to fit the outfits. The girls have had hours of fun with this book.My daughter glues all the outfits into a notebook, and the friend who designed it "signs" the page.My only wish is that there was an address or phone number where you could order additional paper packs. While Klutz is generous when they give you the paper, my kids are using it a LOT!Her 8 year old sister enjoys it too.It is suitable for any age that is very good with scissors. The outfits are quite small.I plan to purchase some of these to use as birthday gifts to have on hand. This is one of the best activity books we've purchased.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for kids and adults!
I bought this book as a activity to share with my neice who is 8.We both loved it.The book is full of inspiration and helpful tips like how to use your finished creations and also how to use scissors more accurately and how to glue without making a mess. The papers and accents they supply are really nice and the fashion stencils are perfectly engineered. It comes with everything you need except the scissors.I enjoyed it so much that I bought another copy for myself and for some of my crafty friends who love fashion.I really think this is a great craft book and I've recommended it to many friends. The Klutz products are always clever but this one is really special. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent For Beginners
Within an hour of getting this book, I was able to juggle ( though not skillfully at all)three balls. Granted, I've had a little bit of prior juggling experience from years and years ago, so I wasn't totally unfamiliar with the motions. The instructions were very clear and so were the illustrations after I used a hi-liter to keep track of the otherwise black and white balls.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a great book!
One night, I had a very strange dream. For a beauty pageant, I was juggling for a talent. Ever since that dream (About one week ago!) I knew juggling would be my talent.
5-0 out of 5 stars I got as far as page 10
Until I purchased this book and bean bags, I might've made two attempts in my life to juggle...for a total of maybe sixty seconds. Anyway, I purchased this book. I followed the book up till page 10. The exercise was to juggle just two balls. That's it. So for a minute or two almost every day, I practiced juggling 2 balls, which was surprisingly difficult. It's all about the toss, about timing, and about being patient and not panicking. Eventually, I got pretty decent and consistent. Today, around 10 days after receiving the book and balls, I decided to try the third ball. Didn't even bother to look at the book. And within a few tries, I was tossing all three balls around! No kidding. It was harder learning to toss the two balls than it was to incorporate the third ball.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dreaded Dissapointment
I am a huge fan of the Series Of Unfortunate Events & found this book only slightly entertaining. It in no way added anything to the series in any way.If you have read the books & the Unauthorized biography then you have all the info you need to not waste your money on this book.If you have not read the Unathorized Biography I would recomend spending you money on that first!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not an unpleasant book but an informative one
The claim on the back of "The Truth Behind A Series of Unfortunate Events: Eyeballs, Leeches, Hypnotism, and Orphans--Exploring Lemony Snicket's World" is that this volume is the "ultimate unauthorized companion guide to the facts behind Lemony Snicket's wild world."Since this is the only one I have seen it is hard to say whether that is hyperbole or not. What Lois Gresh has done in this book is to look beneath the fiction into the realities of the Lemony Snicket universe.Violet Baudelaire likes to invent things, so Gresh explains how to build a telephone and a hot-air balloon mobile home and throws in some fascinating tidbits about who really invented the telephone and little-known facts about hot-air balloons.Young readers will also be able to read about real child inventors and their amazing inventions. The information provided is much more expansive than you would find in an annotated edition of something, but that is the general intent.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Read for Young and Old!
What makes the Lemony Snicket series of Unfortunate Events so entertaining is that they are books seemingly aimed at children and that yet can be read by adults as well, with as much pleasure if not more than children. These short novels are filled with sly jokes, clever asides, and enough silly situations that they cannot be mistaken for anything serious. That's what makes them so funny - they are an inside joke and all of the readers of the books are insiders.Reading Lois Gresh's wonderfully inventive "The Truth Behind A Series of Unfortunate Events" is a treat. The book provides an intelligent and yet funny look at the oddball facts and concepts mentioned in the books but never completely explained.Unlike the previous reviewer, you need a sense of humor to enjoy this book.It takes the Lemony Snicket world and examines it under a microscope. It's not meant to be a substitute for a Lemony Snicket book but a companion to all the Lemony Snicket books and it does a great job at being that. This is a book that any fan of the LS series who wonders about the many odd topics mentioned in the adventures but never explained will cherish. It is not a book for adults who possess no sense of curiosity. This is a book I think both kids and adults will enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful stuff!!
My cousin had the Klutz Window Art book and paint set and I tried it and loved it right away.If you have the Window Art book, you HAVE to get the deluxe refill set! There are several new colors and two black outline paints. It is easy to use and dries well (although it does take about 24 hours to dry).Great rainy day project! If you have kids that like art projects or you love art projects yourself, you have to try this product!

3-0 out of 5 stars Worth it, for a fanatic
If you only think window art is 'kinda neat', you probably don't need this refill set. There are a few more colors -- the white and clear make some really pretty Tiffany glass style effects possible, for those interested in spending the extra time -- but really there isn't that much more here than you'll find with your standard set.5-0 out of 5 stars Klutz does it again!
My 2 children love the Klutz books. The window painting book is their favorite and this refill kit is great! It comes with several colors and the big bottles of black that you need for the outlining. My daughter loved the glittery paints. The kid went through the paints that came with the book in just a few days - their windows are covered with clings, and this refill kit was just what we needed. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars For the new cheerleader and coach
This one was written before most current cheerleaders were born, and the pyramid section is woefully out of date with its 3 &1/2highs, but the key ingredients on cheering how-to are all still relevant, both physically and spirit-wise.It is still, in my estimation, the best book for a beginning cheerleader to have because it has:
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book on Cheerleading!!
What a great book! I'm a cheerleader and a gymnast, and I've found it to be a fantastic resource! This book is perfect for all levels of cheerleading, whether you're a Pop Warner cheerleader or a Varsity cheerleader. It has tons of hints, tips, and instructions. There are thousands of photos. In here, there are jumps, cheers, chants, gymnastics, routines, stunts, pyramids, tryout tips, and sooo much more! This book has helped me become a much better cheerleader and I've appreciated everything I learned from it. This book deserves three cheers!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for today's cheerleader
This book, while helpful in some ways, is not ideal for today's more active and athletic Varsity or All-Star cheerleader. I would definitely reccommend this book for less competitive squads, like Pop Warner or J.V. Beginning cheerleaders and new coaches may find this book useful. But personally, with five years experience, I didn't learn too much from it. Instructional videos or competitions on ESPN will benefit competitive cheerleaders more. The tumbling section has detailed pictures of performing a back handspring, and some of the spirit/fundraising ideas are good. The stunting pictures are very outdated, and could use some updating. There are very few free-standing stunts, basically everything is old-fashioned pyramids. The basic stunts they show are pretty innovative, and would be good for Pop Warner cheerleaders. If they revamped this portion of the book, I would give it a higher rating. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY CHEERLEADING! ... Read more

This book, written for parents of children ages 12 months to 36 months is packed with fun, simple, creative, and educational games to enhance and promote your child's brain development at this monumental time.Author, Jackie Silberg does a superb job of offering parents an interactive approach to helping their child activate synapses in the child's brain. After reading this book, you'll be pleased to see that as a parent you and your child are probably already willing participants playing many of these games and activities, but after reading the crucial brain research that backs up the importance of these games, you will feel even better.Ms. Silberg provides facts and evidence that clearly indicate spending time with your child at this very young age nurturing, playing, learning, and bonding together will lay the groundwork for a lifetime of learning and positive experiences.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Teaching Yoga to Children!
This is a super cute yoga book for children, starring (and narrated by) Babar the Elephant. It talks about the earliest days of yoga (apparently, yoga was actually invented by elephants, although they looked more like woolly mammoths in the illustration), and then tells of how it was rediscovered and spread once again through the elephant world not long ago. Babar then takes us through his daily practice, and ends with some ideas of yoga to do on vacations at a variety of famous places (including the Golden Gate Bridge).
1-0 out of 5 stars not for kids
The poses are too advanced for younger children. The book cannot be used to read to children, since it is boring reading instructions.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Darling Book
Hatha Yoga is generally form based.Elephants need to know the "proper" position for their trunks while they perform asanas. The author shows where the trunks should be positioned for maximum effect.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Are You Ready For A Homerun Derby?
Do you like baseball, because if you do you would like this book called The Kid Who Only Hit Homers. This book is about a kid, named Sylvester who was not very good at baseball. He could not even make his team, the Red Birds. But then he met a man at the Red Birds' practice. He sometimes watches the Red Birds practice and one day he met Mr. Baruth. Will Sylvester get better? If you like this book review is goodto your nearest book store or library. My name is Brooks an I think you should read this books because it's about baseball and the author did a great job of making it interesting.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for just starting out.
I grew up reading Matt Christopher books and now at the age of 20 I owe my great interest in baseball literature to him and his books. They are great for kids to get into reading about the sports they love to play and they teach great life and sport lessons espicially about humility. There will always be a place in my heart for his literature and this is probably his best book on baseball. Highly reccomended. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars So, other people make mistakes, too? Not just me?
We all make mistakes and if you love baseball and if you enjoy hearing about how other people made bigger mistakes than you ever will - mistakes that cost World Series titles - then Dan Gutman has written a book for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars Baseball's Biggest Bloopers The Games That Got Away
I read the book Baseball's Biggest Bloopers The Games That Got Away by Dan Gutman. This book was about players that blew it big time! Many of thwe games lost the World Series for the team. But somtimes it just lost the game and the team came back and won the Series. In this book there are 12 humiliating stories that will make even you, fell bad for the players. My favorite story was Herb Washington Designated Pick-Off Victim. It was about an olympic runner that was taken to the Oakland A's.When he got to the Statdium he didn't even know how to play baseball, and teh A's tought him how to paly and then n one game he got picked-off.I would recommend this book to anyone that likes baseball or any sports.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for baseball fans
Baseball is a tough sport to play sometimes. Many times players make mistakes called bloopers. These bloopers you see in almost every game. Sometimes they cost a regular game, a pennant, or to make it worse theworld series! This book has tons of it. It talks about players who mess upthe game so bad they have the rest of their life to think what they didwrong! You will enjoy this book so much that once you done reading, youcan't stop! So buy this book. It's called Baseballs biggest bloopers thegames that got away. This will be one of the greatest baseball books youwill ever get! ... Read more

this book is kind of like my live because, in my soccer games i always play left striker but there is one thing that is different that my parent's aren't diborsed so i am cool with that5-0 out of 5 stars Soccer Duel Masterpiece!
This book helps me really relate to my life.I am the left striker, my parents are divorced, but unlike the story it's my mom who usually can't make it to the games because she is blind so she can't drive. It's hard because when I move fromhouse-to-house I have to move equipment too. This situation makes me feel bad because at my dad's house I have two stepsisters and a stepmom and my dad has to drive them everywhere and it sometimes make him feel like a taxi driver! This book is a real situation story and it is probably my favorite book in the series, though I also suggest Soccer Scoop! Ned Donovan. ... Read more

This is a great manual for a PE or Elementary teacher. The pictures and directions are very easy to understand and Chinese jump rope is a fun, low cost activity for a classroom teacher. There are a lot of great ideas for individual and team games. Overall, this is an excellent activity guide for kids, but might be hard for younger children to comprehend without adult assistance. 5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely imperative if you are a woman
I consider myself quite well informed about current women's issues, but had always wondered what the impetus was behind Title IX. I had no idea that the law we hear about that applies to women's equal access to sports, was aimed at equal access to college admissions and financial assistance.I cried several time while reading this book; I was mad at the earlier treatment of women, I was saddened by the personal stories of disappointment suffered by the women who were shut out of playing games they loved only because they were girls.I was also proud of the triumphs of the recent past, but mostly I was moved to buy another copy and pass it around to as many women as I can.ANY WOMAN WHO HAS PLAYED SPORTS OR GONE TO COLLEGE IN THE LAST 30 YEARS, OWES IT TO THEMSELVES TO READ, APPRECIATE, AND SHARE THIS BOOK WITH THE NEXT GENERATION OF GIRLS.Laurie in Utah

5-0 out of 5 stars Linking women's equality to Title IX
Let Me Play puts a passionate perspective on the plight of women in the fight to obtain simple civil liberties and human equalities. Author Karen Blumenthal presents her work in a format targeted to a young audience, making this easily manageable book appealing to people of all ages that appreciate the continuing battle for equal rights.
5-0 out of 5 stars Much-needed history for today's young women
I'm so glad to see a history for today's young women about what it was like before Title 9 - which, while it wasn't that long ago, seems unreal to my daughter's generation. I remember The Days Before, when the boys got the gym and were formed into athletic teams while the girls got WHAT PASSED for PE - calisthenics in the cafeteria! (and instructional time was used to move the tables and chairs aside)
