The 1st magic book I ever got and still the best.
I am a street magican at the Georgia Ren Fair and 85% of the tricks I use on the street come from this book. I got this book back when I was about 11 years old and have found it invaulable!
Complete Course in Magic
This book is GREAT for beginner magicians.It explains everything crystal clear, and gives great pictures to help you learn.This book makes it extremely easy to learn magic, that even a kid could do it.This book is overflowing with magic from the first to the last page.He starts you on basic self-working card tricks, then you start learning some card tricks that require sleight of hand.What is really great about the magic tricks in this book is that they are easy to master.It does not take very long at all to have them mermorized and be able to perform them.He also teaches you various methods of forcing cards.After that, he explains some different and gimmiked cards and what kind of tricks you can do with them.Then comes one of my absolute favorite part in the book.This is also the hardest part in the book, and it is flourishes.He goes from the one handed cut to the one hand fan to springing the cars, and finally ends at throwing a card.The other half of the book is dedicated and filled with coin, rope, silk and hankerchief, impromptu, mental, and billard ball magic.He also goes over some magic tricks which he defines as "betchas".Furthermore, at the end of the book there are some miscellaneous magic tricks.All these sections and tricks are explained just as beautifully as the card tricks.This is an AMAZIng book, and if you are a beginner and just starting magic THIS IS THE BOOK TO GET!!!

The life of Harry Houdini, the world famous "master mystifier"
This DK Biography of Harry Houdini is described as "A photographic story of a life," but I can tell you up front that it is not a collection of photographs with captions but an illustrated biography that is comparable to other volumes put out by this company. That means you will find over 100 photographs, artwork and artifacts, including photograph of his famous escapes, posters from throughout his career, and a look at things like his collection of handcuffs. For somebody like me who knows most of what they know about Houdini from the movie with Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh (and whatever television documentaries I might stumble across from time to time), this book is quite educational. Vicki Cobb tells about the life of Harry Houdini so it reads like an American success story. Born Ehrich Weiss, the kid who will become Harry Houdini leaves home at the age of 12, gets bored working in a factory, and starts practicing coin trips in his spare time. Eventually the son of poor immigrants would be selling out the theaters of Europe as the greatest magician and escape artist in the world.

A simply amazing book
This book is fun! fun! fun! I started reading it and almost couldn't stop. Very informative on interesting coin tricks. The BEST Coin-Magic Book
This is the best coin-magic book I have ever read.The tricks are ridiculusly simple, but the audience remains mysified, and the text is absolutly hilarious.Within less than a day I was able to do at leastthree tricks.In fact,when I did them in front of my family, the trickslooked pretty impressive - even if I do say so myself. Next time I'llcharge 'em. I'd recommend this book to any one, any age, who likes toastound their friends, family, or even their worst enemy.

A must-have for kids and magicians alike!
Even if the cool double-sided quarter hadn't been included with the book, the book would still be great. This book shows how to palm a coin, do a Bobo Pass, a French drop, and more! Good book
Pretty good book with a variety of unique card sleights (palming, manipulating cards in the deck, etc.). These sleights are the 'real work', so it will take a little perseverance. Many of these utility sleights are ones that you ought to know if you want to be a card sleight-of-hand worker. Buckley was a card mommer
When I unexpectedly came across a picture of Buckley on the first page of the book, and after hearing the other reviews of how difficult and advanced the techniques in the book were, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was surprised to see the face of a handsome teenager, of which my previous impression was COMPLETELY the opposite to the one I held in my hands. And this guy was a professional card magician at the age of 18, and able to do tricks infront of hundreds of people on-stage in 1908! Very advanced, but as good as it gets
If you've mastered Hugard and Braue's stuff, if you can do 60 classic passes per minute, if you have all the time in the world to devote to card sleight of hand, then this is the book for you!Seriously, this is a truly excellent book.Buckley's sleights, though not for the faint of heart, are superb.(He must've been one heckuva cardician!) This is a serious, serious card magic book.But if you are serious yourself, you'll get it.Of course, you'll overlook the antiquated prose and Buckley's tremendous ego throughout.(When you read this material you'll forgive Buckley's self-congratulatory tone.) Best Magic Book
I just became interested in doing magic and this book was absolutely fabulous.Some really great basics and some cool stuff that is unique and very appropriate for beginning magicians.The explanations were clear and I love that it came with the props I needed.I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves magic.I have friends who have been doing magic for years and still find this book fun.

Great gift
This is for an 8 yr. old. His birthday is not until Nov. This is a special surprise for him.He loves watching magic tricks. Now he can do his own! Thank you,the book is easy to read and good tricks for him to do!

A beginner's only book
This book was very helpful. It contains a total of 31 tricks, 10 or 11 ofwhich are actually worth it. Your resource for optical illusions
This book would have got five stars from me if only it had been a little bigger. This book can fit in your purse or your pocket. It is small and chunky. Hours of Fun!Highly recommended!
My family really enjoyed this book!There were are large number of variations on a theme that were new and interesting to us.One thing we really liked was the fact that the book had been done as a mix-no chapterson various categories of illusions.The children kept coming to us as theydiscovered the secrests of the numerous illusions and puzzle pictures.Thebook has kept them amazed and amused for days, in fact they don't want toput it down.The book is a great size to take on a long car ride.Theenjoyment we have received from this book has made it an excellent value. Excellent for beginners or even old pros!
This book has excerpted material also found in Gardner's mammoth "Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic," and the material, as the title suggests, is limited to items performable in an after-dinner setting. This is the sort of magic, when one produces seemingly off-the-cuff miracles, that helped great magicians, such as Alexander Herrmann, Max Malini, Nate Leipzig and Dai Vernon become legends. EXCELLENT!
I think this book is the best!It has everything including slight-of-hand maneuvers and a great deal of card tricks!I would recomened getting this book.Even after four and a half years of being a magician, this book wasstill useful.GET THIS BOOK

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!
I am an amateur magicican and I must say this book is lousy at best. This is definately a book that you should judge by its title. (it is actually quite small barely fitting in your hand). As the latter suggests, it is quite difficult to hold on to this book since its really so small in size.As far as the contents, the book does not contain any useful slights. Inaddition, the tricks are not explained in a whole lot of detail and thepictures don't help at all either. I did learn some tricks which were quitegood, but it took considerable time to learn based on the nature of thebook. Do yourself a favor and buy Mark Wilson's Complete course in magic.

Magnificent!
This book is an excellent guide to those who wish to put on magic shows or just make friends ask you, "how the heck did you do that". While some of the props you have to make yourself, most of these tricks can bedone with everyday objects. It also allows you to add your own creativityto the tricks. A great book! ... Read more

Very useful, practical advice for the beginner
I like this book of card tricks for the fact that it is user-friendly and practical-minded.
The title is BS!
I have been doing card tricks for a while, and I have to say that anything of Bob Longe's is a waste of money. Fabulous for the beginning Magician!
I'm a magician member of the Magic Castle now, but in my early forays into card magic this book helped wean me away from trick Svengali and stripper decks, so that I could be handed a deck of cards from anyone and perform a nice trick.They're not all home runs. But I still get great responses from several of the tricks contained within here.Read more

This is a great book for pre-teens starting in magic.It contains a great variety of tricks, plus excellent advice.The artwork and photography are first class.Now here's the bonus:If you are a working, grown-up magician looking for equipment to add to your act, just build sturdier versions of the tricks in this book.There is even a stage illusion!You will save A LOT of money building some of this items, and they are good.Just the production tube alone is worth the price of the book, I've built some for my twin nephews, and my wife was fooled when I tried them out on her. ...
