5-0 out of 5 stars If you like Dolphins and want to learn more about them...
read this series. I read this series two summers ago when my friend loaned them to me. I was sick most of the summer. Even though I was stuck inside, the books took my mind to out on the ocean, and before I knew it, I felt like I was there swimming and learning about dolphins myself.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Dolphin Diaries Book So Far
I thought this book was very good! Now every animal related thing I come upon makes me think of the dolphin experiences I'm having reading this addicting series. This story made me feel so many emotions...in one sad part, tears literally started welling in my eyes. This book keeps you in suspense, and there are a few unexpected parts here and there.Though some characters can be over emotional, and dolphins aren't always as friendly and inviting to people as they make them in Dolphin Diaries, I still enjoy this series, and am now feeling rather anxious to get the next book!Girls who love dolphins will especially enjoy this series, and some girls who aren't interested in dolphins may even find themselves enjoying it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
The whole 'Dolphin Diaries' series was started by Lucy Daniels. Mr Baglio is v. disappointing and not nearly as good as Mrs Daniels. I mean, how would u feel if someone else wrote the next Harry Potter book when from the name it didnt even sound like the person had anything to do with JK Rowling? In my opinion- Baglio is an imposter and it was hardly even worth buying the book in the first place. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Nice Book
Leaving the shallows is a fun, creative and imaginative book. Jody first sees Dawn, a humpback dolphin. Later, Dawn becomes ill, and Jody tried to warn the people who were feeding the food, which was making Dawn sick, to stop, but then one of them said that Dawn was hungry anyway. My opinion is that this book is a good story with adventures everywhere. My favourite part is the end because I like mostly happy endings. I recommend readers 7 years old and above . It is a very attractive book.

We want more!!! I have been reading this series to my son Zeke since we accidently discovered the first book while vacationing in Florida. We love it! Everything about dolphins/whales/marine biology is of great interest, and I appreciate how the author ties the tropical/aquatic themes and love of nature in with great moral lessons about understanding where different people are coming from. Many kudos for this series, and is # 10 ready yet??

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
This book was good.It kind of tears at your emotions, but that only makes it more enjoyable.Once again, the dolphins always, and I mean ALWAYS being super-friendly to Jody as if they were aquatic humans can be quite annoying. After all, wouldn't mistreated captive dolphins be frightened and a little bit tense around humans? And Jody's love of dolphins can be eye-rollingly sickening as well.I mean, it's not like she just really loves them or something, she's practically OBSESSED!She cries every time something bad happens to a dolphin, and passes up fun activities just so that she can SEE them. But although those things can be bothersome, I still enjoyed this book. All of the characters had their time to shine in this book, or so it seemed, and the story, although difficult to imagine in some parts, was interesting and even kind of absorbing.I recommend this series to dolphin lovers, and girls who like unique and entertaining books.

4-0 out of 5 stars The feared and maybe revered Cave Bear of the Ice Age
I am a dinosaur person and have been ever since my Great Aunt Helen took me to the Peabody Museum at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut where they had the "brontosaurus" skeleton with the wrong head and the famous mural on the Age of Dinosaurs. There was also the display on prehistoric mammals, with its own mural, and pretty good skeletons of a sabertooth tiger and elk, but it was not the same. However, after reading "Clan of the Cave Bear" and the rest of the "Earth's Children" series by Jean M. Auel I do have much more respect for and interest in the "Ice Age Cave Bear: The Giant Beast that Terrified Ancient Humans" (the Peabody does not have a Cave Bear skeleton the last time I checked). In fact, Barabar Hehner comments indirectly on "Clan of the Cave Bear" in this book when she talks about how the theories that the Neanderthals worshipped the cave bear have been called into question (prominently on the back cover in fact). That is rather disappointing if true, but that is why fiction is often more entertaining than the truth.5-0 out of 5 stars With eye-catching, realistic illustrations
Mark Hallett provides eye-catching, realistic illustrations to accompany the dramatic story of massive giant cave bears who were feared thousands of years ago. Kids in grades 5-6 will find this slim-looking book anything but a simple reader: it's packed with information and smaller print than usual, but has a high interest level to keep kids excited about the prehistoric creatures. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Too Much a Duplicate of the TV Show
I like to watch both the TV show and "Arthur" chapter books and normally I enjoy the chapter books for adding in funny and interesting details that don't really fit into the short time-frame of the TV show. I give this four stars for a well-written portrayal of what happened on the TV show, but there really isn't that much of the extra stuff. Also, it's not as humorous as some of the other stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars A pretty good book
This Arthur book is kind of boring, but it has a unique storyline. The plot goes smoothly, and the characters are believeable in the way they handle the situation. So if you like Arthur books, this is one of the best books that all kids will enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars not for kindergartners
The book had a good story line. I was trying to introduce my kindergartener to chapter books. She's at a 2nd grade reading level and I wanted to raise her vocabulary level. She remebered the show that goes with the book. She liked the book but said she didn't understand alot of thewords, and she didn't have the patience to read the book all in onesitting. Definitely this book is for the older child who has more patience. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Read to Your Child to Develop Bonding and Intellect!
Researchers constantly find that reading to children is valuable in a variety of ways, not least of which are instilling a love of reading and improved reading skills. With better parent-child bonding from reading, your child will also be more emotionally secure and able to relate better to others. Intellectual performance will expand as well. Spending time together watching television fails as a substitute.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful experience
Lynda M. Nelson is blessed with the true gift of story telling. After reading "The Little Red Buckets", I decided to try "My Master's Touch". I knew the story was about a burro named Meshak and his life with his master's family. What I didn't know and was greatly impressed with was how the story was handled. The author never really tells whom the burro belongs to, or what is really going on in the master's family, the story is told from the burro's perspective, and the author lets the reader piece together the scenes which lead to very emotional conclusions for both the master and his burro. This may be listed as a juvenile story, but don't mistake it for a cute burro tale with cute colorful pictures. The burro has a youthful, yet experienced narrator's voice, and the tale, meant for all ages, has a heart felt moral to it that the reader must discover for him or her self.Have a box of Kleenex for this Nelson book as well.5-0 out of 5 stars This is a book to read to elementary children and a book to
have to give to Christian friends and also to give to others that don't know Christ.I really think it will be a book that you will always treasure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amusing !!!
I like this book from the very first page.Mrs. Gray,a widow has given birth to 20 mice.Wow! That's a lot. From her first husband,Mr. Brown,7 and from the next one,Mr. Black,10 more and her deceased husband,3.The rest of her children have left their home and are out earning their living.Mrs. Gray teaches her three trins(triplets actually),Henry,Richard and Thomas to be the toughest mice in the house. In the house, the mice are divided into 4 tribes, the Attic(which is at the very top of the house),the Ups(just below),the Downs and the Cellarmice. These 4 clans never gather together and unite. The Terrible Trins(that's what Mrs. Gray calls them)learn a lot of stuff from their mother. She teaches them that unity is strength. The Terrible Trins manage to get rid of the two cats in the house and make the farmer,Farmer Budge goes angry with everything he sees.On the contrary his wife likes all living creatures including mice. When the farmer is not around, she will spring the mouse traps and throw away the poison. But that is not enough.A lot of mice still get trapped. Will The Terrible Trins be able to get rid of the poison and mouse traps and show Farmer Budge that mice aren't as bad as he thinks? I really love this book.It is so exciting, enthralling and lovable.I bet you will rate this one of the best animal book in the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun to Read And Educational Too
There aren't many books that tell a good story and can teach science at the same time. This book has managed to do both. This is a story about a girl and her brother who move to an old farmhouse that have bats living in the attic. The parents teach them all about bats during this story but it doesn't come off like a science book. This would be an excellent book for children in 3rd grade. I'd even pick it for my daughter who doesn't like science. ... Read more

Written and illustrated by Nancy Carol Willis, Raccoon Moon is a gentle and highly recommended children's picturebook about a mother raccoon who takes care of her young cubs. The soft color, museum quality illustrations add a heartwarming special touch to this tender tale. A postscript of fun facts about raccoons, including how the raccoon got its name and why baby raccoons can't be kept as pets, rounds out this excellent story which is particularly suitable for bedtime reading. ...
