5-0 out of 5 stars If you love dolphins and want to learn more about them,
read this series. I read this series two summers ago when my friend loaned them to me. I was sick most of the summer. Even though I was stuck inside, the books took my mind to out on the ocean, and before I knew it, I felt like I was there swimming and learning about dolphins myself.
3-0 out of 5 stars Decent
Dolphin Diaries is a fun, original series about a girl traveling the world looking for dolphins to watch, study, and enjoy with her family. This book is very descriptive, and the characters are very expressive and emotional...which can be good and bad, depending on what the character is saying, and what point they're trying to make. This series is definately for girls between the ages of eight and eleven or twelve.Any older, and you start noticing unrealistic parts and becoming annoyed with characters that are supposed to be everyones' favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars If A Dolphin Were A Fish
Delfina is a bottlenose dolphin. She swims through the pages of this beautifully illustrated book, imagining what it would be like to be something other than a dolphin. If she were a fish for instance, she could spend all of her time underwater.Unlike fish that have gills, Delfina has a full set of lungs and breaths through a blowhole on top of her head.
5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful and Imaginative Book About a Very Special Dolphin
Here is a book about a very special dolphin, Delfina, who often wonders what it would be like to be a different animal. This clever story takes the reader through many different possibilities, including fish, sea turtle, shark, manatee, bird, and octopus. With each animal Delfina could be, the author explains why Delfina is not that animal and along the way, aided by the incredible "morphing" illustrations of artist Laurie Allen Klein, the reader learns exactly what makes Delfina a dolphin.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
My kids loved this book. Can't go wrong. I bought a second copy for the school library so that more kids can enjoy this book.

Editorial Review

Even the most educated marine biologist could learn something from this whimsical, beautifully illustrated collection of 21 poems about sea life. Some of the poems are pure silly fun ("There are uglier fish than a blennie-- / But not many."), and others are gracefully infiltrated with animal facts ("Did you know the ocean's oysters / Sometimes change from girls to boysters?"). 5-0 out of 5 stars sweet dreams
Rebeccasreads highly recommends OCEAN WHISPER/SUSURRO DEL OCEANO no matter what your mother tongue is, because... other than the flyleaves & the opening poem in both English & Spanish, this bedtime story is told all in picture... gorgeous, dreamy pictures of the life to be found in the deep blue sea.
5-0 out of 5 stars A unique, vibrant, and almost purely visual experience of wonder
Ocean Whisper / Susurro del Oceano is a children's picturebook featuring a bilingual English/Spanish poem about the quiet warmth of the ocean, and its colorful plants and creatures. The poem leads into an elaborate story told entirely through soft, gentle, deep-toned artwork of a young boy and his dreams of experiencing the ocean firsthand. A unique, vibrant, and almost purely visual experience of wonder, that will surely appeal to and instill an appreciation of the sea's wonders within children of all ages, even the very young.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Little Ones
My 15-month-old son has loved this book since I began reading it to him at 6 months old.The colors and pictures really keep his attention and as I read, we count the characters so that he can learn his numbers. The rhyming words have certainly helped his vocabulary. Now he can even finish each sentence for me as we read the book together! He loves it.I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Only the lonely..."
What a fantastic book.I love the creativity of the artist. My kids love the pictures in these books and I love trying to identify all of the foods. The story is cute and the kids enjoyed counting all of the sealife that appear. The only draw back to this book was that it wasn't as diverse as the others. All in all, a cute book to have around, especially when you need a pick-me-up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Food is not just for eating
I ordered the book One Lonely Sea Horse by Joost Elffers, Saxton Freymann, because it was recommended to me by Clare Crespo, another foodie and cookbook author that loves to play with her food.I found the story charming and the illustrations of sealife made with real fruit and vegetables to be quite imaginative.....Impressive book....it should be enjoyable to everyone, regardless of age. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Seashell Fun.....
"Sue walks along the seashore/warmed by the sun./Picking up seashells one by one..."Author, Marianne Berkes, takes readers on a wondrous seaside adventure in her third picture book, Seashells By The Seashore.Come count the beautiful shells, learn their names, and watch your collection grow on the lefthand border of each two page spread as you walk along the beach.....Ms Berkes lilting, rhyming text is engaging and complemented by Robert Noreika's captivating watercolor illustrations.Together, word and art send you to the beach on a hot summer day, and you'll almost be able to feel the sand between your toes, hear the crash of the waves, and smell the salty sea air.Additional information about each shell and the mollusks that live inside can be found at the end of the book, and young nature detectives, ages 4-8, will revel in this joyous, fun-filled hike along the shore.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seashells by the Seashore Encourages Discovery
Seashells by the Seashore had my five and seven year olds running to find shells they had already collected to discover their names. To their delight, the shells they had were featured in the book. What I particularly like about the book is its interactive nature, encouraging children to go beyond the pages and explore the seashore searching for the shells they had read and learned about. My children are planning to bring the book on an upcoming beach vacation, and the pull-out shell reference card, an added bonus.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Winner from Berkes!
Berkes's has done it again and this time the subject of her book is one of my favorite nature items!A truly informative book; I can finally name all the sea shells I have thanks to the descriptions within the story and glossary at the end. The unique set up of this book identifies each shell as the main character finds them which can be used to promote counting in young children, and memory/matching games for older children. Berkes also includes questions at the end to foster further investigation in the reader. The pull-out, waterproof shell identification chart merits a field trip to the beach.Noreika's breath taking watercolor illustrations illuminate the shoreline from morning to dusk. The book's poignant ending instills the value that a gift from the heart is better than a monetary one. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My 1 year old's favorite!
This is such a cute book! My one year old loves it. I have lost track how many times my husband and I have read it to her.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why is the Sea Green?
We recently purchased quite a few books in this series by Reasoner and have been very impressed with the interactive design. Each page describes something about the animal, then you pull apart the page to see which animal does the specified actions.A word of caution:The sliding mechanism will probably be too hard for your child to manage alone -so this will be a book that can only be read together. If you do let your child look at it alone,he will only be looking at pages of scenery since the animals are hidden behind the sliding mechanism.I have two complaints about this book in particular:First, the water on each page is GREEN and the author also shows GREEN seaweed and plantlife under the ocean that looks like grass. This was totally confusing to my 16 mo. old and he didn't completely understand why a crab, starfish, dolphin, etc. were living in what resembled- our backyard;-) when he clearly knows that these animals live in water.Second, the animals are cartoonish and don't entirely resemble what they are supposed to be.Having said this, I don't regret the purchase and recommend this book - with some reservations.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love This Book!
My 15 month old son Loves this book! He delights in the peek-a-boo style. We get lots of laughs with this one and read it over and over again. Since purchasing this book, we recently searched for other books by this author. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Cute pictures but terribly written story
The story "Finding Nemo" is a nice kid's story, but this book does a very lousy job telling it.It doesn't flow well at all and is just poorly written (or edited?).I definitely would not recommend this book.
1-0 out of 5 stars A let down
Sotry of Nemo and Marlin does not flow well.Takes random bits and pieces from the movie (and not necessarily the best/funniest) without hitting the main highlights.Pictures are pretty cute and my toddler son likes it... I just wish the story matched the wonderful movie more closely.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!
Someone drew all the pictures instead of taking frames from the movie. The story also didn't flow as well as the movie. They should have done better. We bought this after liking the Monsters, Inc board book. But this is a total disappointment. 0 star if there is a choice. ... Read more
