4-0 out of 5 stars Great, Funny and Interesting
The book Red Post is an interesting and funny book. The book is about this kid that was playing wall ball and the ball went over the line. Then the kid he was playing against caught it but he said that it didn't go over the line. Then another kid said it went over the line. Then the kid that thought it went over the line, told Marvin to shut up because you were not watching, you were over there picking your nose. After that every body started to laugh. He said that he was not picking his nose and they all kept on laughing at him. The next day he figured out something and at school he kept on asking every body if they heard about what happened yesterday and he told every body that he didn't pick his nose, everybody kept laughing at him because he kept on reminding them. Then his own friends would not play with him any more. 5-0 out of 5 stars Adoptabook.Info Review
Louis Sachar, possessing tremendous range as a children1s lit master, bring us the Marvin Redpost series---smartly designed for the mid-second grade reader. The second in a now lengthy series, Sachar has poor Marvin---a likable rolly-polly sort of lead---embroiled in controversy. When a close call in a Wallball game leads to verbal sparring, a yard bully accuses Marvin of committing that most grievous of all elementary school sinspicking your nose. Naturally, such an accusation makes for wildfire gossip around school and soon it seems the entire world (even Marvin1s teacher) seems to believe a most disgusting truth about our hero. Marvin1s solution for his way out of this mess is a brilliant stroke of psychology (and comic writing) and serves to illustrate some basic truths about being human. Not splashing on the same sort of wackiness as in his Wayside School pallet, Sachar offers up an easy ironic touch in the Marvin Redpost series.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvin Redpostis so wierd!
I think you should buy this because there's lots of wierd stuff like when Marvin asked his sister, "Do I look like a girl?" My teacher said, "If you are paying attention you'll giggle." I'm like,"No books make ME giggle." But this one did. But that's just my opinion. By Katie

1-0 out of 5 stars Dangerous book? Only if missused to impose tolerance
Do not give any credit to the other comment below blathering about what is normal. This is not the first subject of the book. This is a funny book, no doubt about it. Children might laugh reading it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Witty, Amusing Children's Lit
For those of you looking for honest reviews about this work, please ignore the barely-literate fools below blathering about "agendas" and "dangerous messages."

3-0 out of 5 stars This a good book.
I like the book very much. You should read it.Marvin gets to watch his teachers dog Waldo while she is on a trip.Marvins friends ask him lots of questions. It is a verry good book.
1-0 out of 5 stars Sad
This book made me sad because there is a death in the book.I also hated the way Marvin's "friends" treated him. They didn't act like real friends should. The book describes a very mean substitute teacher... I don't like that. The only thing good about the book was Marvin's nice teacher.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Good Book for the Everyday Kid
I picked up this book after reading Sachar's "Holes" to my elementary aged kids, and I was very pleased with the content. In this book, Sachar allows his readers to see life from the perspective of a regular, everyday kid -- and reading it inspired a "what-would-you-do-in-that-situation" dialogue with my own regular, everyday kids.I truly appreciated seeing a young person in this age range (the 3rd grade-ish Marvin Redpost) portrayed as having a conscious, a sense of responsibility, and the awareness to have compassion for others.Marvin is faced with a pretty grown-up sized situation concerning a beloved pet, and I think it's handled with grace and tenderness.I was pleased to see my children feeling compassion for this character, and I'm looking forward to reading more of Marvin's adventures to my own kids. ... The book Kidnaped at Birth, part of the Marvin Redpost series by Louis Sachar, is about a nine year old kid named Marvin Redpost. Marvin is a cool third grader. His has two best friends, Stuart is the smart one, Nick is the cool one. Stuart and Nick always fight with each other. He has one bully named Clarence that is really mean to Marvin. 4-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed by the Title
I liked the book and I don't want to tell you what happens, but The Flying Birthday Cake has nothing to do with a flying birthday cake!If you are expecting a birthday cake to fly, you might be a little disappointed like I was.

5-0 out of 5 stars terrific series for beginning readers
Marvin Redpost is a third grader whose friends don't like the new kid in school, Joe Normal, but he finds that Joe is friendly and fun. What should he do?The dialogue is funny, and even though the text is easy enough to be enjoyed by beginning readers the concepts of friendship and family are not too simplistic.5-0 out of 5 stars Was that a flying saucer Marvin saw?
What makes this a standout even among the Marvin Redpost series is the subtlety. As usual, Marvin is faced with a puzzling reality, in this case a new boy at school who never changes his clothes and who has seriousglitches in his knowledge base. And, as usual, Marvin is faced with amoral dilemma, in this case: should he be friends with this misfit whom hediscovers he actually likes?Marvin, never speculates that this boy couldbe from outer space, but the reader certainly does.In the end we are leftwondering, is he, or isn't he? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Marvin's Back....
How does Marvin Redpost get himself into these situations? The talk around school is that he's got a new mountain bike and is going to take on Suicide Hill.Truth is, Marvin can hardly even climb onto the bike, no less ride it.If he actually survives the ride, he'll be the most popular boy at school. If he wimps out, he'll never be able to show his face again. And if he challenges the hill and loses, his friends and family may get to watch the worst wipeout, ever.Poor Marvin is scared to death and doesn't know what he's going to do..... Louis Sachar has written another charming and amusing story your 7-10 year olds will really be able to identify with. This is a story full of great, realistic scenes, true to life dialogue and characters, so real, they could live in your neighborhood. And as Marvin decides whether to take that fateful trip down Suicide Hill or not, your youngsters will be rooting for him.Mr Sachar and Marvin never disappoint and they're not starting now.
