Great book in the world of Magic School Bus.We loved it.I loved the facts about China written all over the book.Read over & over in our house!

Miss Frizzle and her class from The Magic School Bus are back.This time instead of science adventure the kids are off to learn about history. Miss Frizzle and her students travel back in time 100 years.They arrive at a farmers village in China.Here they learn lots of things like how to eat with chop sticks and how to grow crops like rice and silk.
A great introduction to ancient China
I bought this book for my first-grade son, who is a huge Magic School Bus fan, but usually not all that interested in social studies. He found this book very interesting, and we have re-read it many times.

Digestion from Start to Finish
This book is about a diner cook who loves to eat healthy food and we find out what happens to that food in this well written and illustrated book by Paul Showers and Edward Miller.There are little experiments and up close photos of digestive organs which can delightfully gross out your child while one reads and learns about this important system of the body.
A wonderful book!
My 5-year-old son thinks it is good because it teaches how the food gets digested.My 8-year-old daughter thinks she learned a lot from the book.I personally enjoy reading it too!

Easy enough for my 3-year-old to understand!
I checked this book out from the library, and now I have to buy it because my son keeps asking for the "hamburger book". It has lots of pictures for the little ones to understand and both simple and complexwording for kids in different language learning stages. Get For First Tiem Estimators
This is a great book for children who know how to estimate and for those who are just learing. This book is filled with pictures and illistrations on how you would estimate wiht a many number of things. A thing that I liked about this book is that it just wasn't estimating how a many of cars or jellybeans, but it was also prices in a store window. What kind of a counting book is this? On the first page all we see is a barren winter landscape--a hazy, blue sky above a hazy, white hill. Nothing to count here. But wait, this is zero! On the next page the scene brightens: one tree, one bird, one house. Turn the page again and the snow has started to melt--we find two buildings, two trucks, two trees, two children, two dogs, and two adults. Suddenly there is almost more than we can count on each page! The objects in the beautiful watercolor pictures correspond with each consecutive number, and in addition (so to speak), the number of items on the page increases exponentially. Read more

Anno's Counting Book
The book Anno's Counting Book is a great book for helping children with counting and learning basic math concepts.It helps with addition and subtraction as well as grouping items.The book starts at zero, which is one of few books that start with zero.This helps children grab the concept the zero is still a number even when there is nothing to count.The book goes all the way through the number 12.Children are also able to count the objects in the picture.Each object in that picture contains that number that is on the page.
Wonderful book
I have bought numerous copies of this book to give to the children of relatives and friends.I got my first copy of it when my son (now 27) was small, and he loved it.I have one copy that I keep at home for myself, though I have no grandchildren yet--the pictures are so lovely, simple, and comforting, and I usually have one or two more books in stock to give as gifts.Everyone I have given a book to loves it as well.I like all of the other Anno books that I have seen, but I think this is the best.

Lemonade for Sale
I teach 3rd grade and will use this to review bar graphs at the beginning of next year.The students can usually relate to a lemonade stand.I actually purchased it to learn about starting up businesses for a writing prompt, but I can use it to enhance both skills.

the life of a frog
Frogs are fascinating creatures.It seems children especially develop a fondness for them.This is a book that teaches children everything they'd want to know about frogs, and more importantly about how frogs start off as tadpoles before turning into frogs.If you have a child and he or she likes playing with frogs, give them this book.

Explains why we have seasons
if you have an energetic child like my 5 year old who is always asking why - this is a great book. I got this book around summer soltice when my sun did not understand why he is going to bed when it is so bright outside. Unexamined metaphysics
My boy brought this home the school library and the title of the book intrigued me. What is it like to swim by swishing your tail, round and round, in a small little bowl; or, eating fish flakes sprinkled from above when the person decides it's time to be fed; or to live in an environment that deteriorates day after day into murkiness until you are suddenly scooped up by a net and put into an even smaller container while your bowl is being cleaned? What IS it like to be a fish? Alas, there are no answers to that question found in this book -- pity.

Making numbers make sense!
Mr.Flansburg's methods of stressing basic math skills are new and important before algebra or higher math will make sense. His new web site thehumancalculator.com also offers more information about his goal to wipe out innumeracy. He taught me it's never to late to conquer math phobia and fulfill my career goals that never materialized because of math avoidance.

Confused on age level
The book was ok however, I wanted a book for older students.This is recommended for 6 th 8 year olds.The book is in an easy to read format and has breaks to complete exercises to practice what you learned.

In a math-phobic era more people should read this book!!

This Book Tells It Like It Is
As a soon to be teacher, and part time archaeologist, this is by far the best book about archaeology for young kids I have found.It gives accurate information in fun, easy to understand language.My students were always interested in my summer and weekend work outside of the school.It was wonderful to find a book I could share with them that was not over their heads.My archaeology professor from college even borrowed it to share with his entry level classes.

Sparks the imagination!
I am so glad I discovered this book.My children enjoy telling a different story every time we open it.The fact that there are no words in it makes the children invent a new story each time, and I believe it develops their imagination better in a way, than with a storybook with pictures.I also like the art involved in this book, the minute details that the author/artist had included are adorable!I enjoy reading it myself!Each page reveals several goings-on in a small town, it is so easy to imagine yourself walking among the characters.
