nocturnal fun
my 6 year old daughter had a science lesson and this book was incorporated. great illustrations. great learning tool.

"Where Are The Night Animals?" is excellent.
Though this book is designed for older children, my 2 1/2 year old loves it. Some of the text is beyond her appreciation right now(e.g. "echolocation, diurnal, nocturnal"), but she loves the realistic illustrations and the different story-like scenarios for each different featured animal. Very cute book, first intro to discovering odd and even numbers
This book is quite cute from an entertainment perspective.Farmer Bill wakes up to a snowstorm one day to find that he is missing one of his mittens.When he goes to his barns, he discovers one by one, that each of his animals is missing a mitten (be prepared to explain what a cow's udder is for!).They finally see the goat at the top of the hill who is the culprit - he's munching on all the mittens!When they're all inside, the goat decides to make lunch on Farmer Bill's new coat.Very cute story and throughout the book, the illustrations indicate how many mittens the animals have (i.e. three for the cow) and "odd" is written under the three mittens, and the next picture is of four mittens with "even" written under them.Right now, my little one thinks that odd means just "weird" so that concept is coming a little slowly.Be prepared to go into a full explanation of numbers when you read this book.It definitely takes some time to do but the story makes it well worth it.Ours has to be read nightly.Highly recommend!

Book intro's idea of even and odd numbers
We loved Murphy's "Henry the Fourth", but we didn't particularly like this book.While the artwork is delightful, the rhymes are clumsy, and worse, the premise just is not very interesting.At least, finding out what happened to the cow's utter-mittens did not engage my kids (almost 3 and 5).
Awkward, but cute
By far, the illustrations are the best part of this book. The wonderful depictions of Farmer Bill, his farm and animals give the book much more depth than the forced rhymes. And frankly, they also do a better job of getting across the concepts of odd and even. Read more

We just read this book as a read aloud for science in our homeschool.We learning alot about oil spills and the damage they can cause.At the end of the book was the idea for kids to write to Senators about laws for oil tankers and such. Excellent Source for any science teacher
I am a high school biology teacher.Since reading this book I have purchased 5 of the Magic School Bus Chapter Books.This book provides excellent scientific information and students of all ages enjoy.I had my 6 year old nephew read it, I read it, and one of my freshmen biology students read it.We all came to the same conclusion; we want to take a trip the aquarium and see the sharks firsthand for ourselves.I highly reccommend anyone with a child or a love for science to read this book.

Good Lesson
This book was about how and why children grow.There are great pictures, charts and diagrams to help the author explain that children's bones, organs and even teeth grown and change.She explains that correct nutrition and proper care is needed in order to allow your body to grow and for you to be healthy.The book goes on to say that when you are older your bones may stop growing.However, your hair and nails keep growing.Brandenberg explains very simply what the young readers can expect as they grow.Read more

Great games for understanding math concepts
I am a homeschooler. My son is a very visual and hands-on learner, so when he learned math using paper and pencil calculations only, he would quickly forget the concepts by the next day. I searched the internet for math games to reinforce conceptual understanding of decimals for my son. Read it Backwards
I read this book to my 4-year old grandson and he asked me to read it backwards so that they (the monsters) could win.James delighted in the Monsters getting back into the game rather than leaving it.
