All Around Easy
These learning centers are easy to put together and maintain.I purchased several plastic shoe boxes from one of the dollar stores in the area to use.As a 4th grade teacher, some of the games were excellent for building up basic skills.I'll be teaching 2nd grade next year, and have already gotten some of the other games ready for use.

I read this book to a group of kindergarten students. Right now they are learning about money just coins they know penny,dime and nickel. Some of the students were able to point out the coins and do some of the adding with the pig family. But majority of them just enjoyed the pictures and the storyline. They were unable to follow the hidden math problem. But overall it is a fun story to read with the students.

Pigs will be Pigs
A very creative way to teach money concepts.I liked the way the book reviews the way to make change.I read this to a group of 3rd graders.I don't know that they found the book entertaining, but it did help them review money.I think 2nd graders would probably enjoy the story more, but may not understand all of the math concepts as well as the third graders.

I read this book to children in first grade and they LOVED IT!!The children thought that this book was so hilarious.The book did such a great job incorporating money and counting into it.The illustrations were awesome as well, the pictures kept the children's attention while I was reading the book.I kept a tally of how much the pigs found and where they found the money.The children loved helping me keep track and they all participated in naming all the different locations of where the pig family kept the money.I do recommend this book for a circle or group reading, the children will love it!!

Making numbers make sense!
Mr.Flansburg's methods of stressing basic math skills are new and important before algebra or higher math will make sense. His new web site thehumancalculator.com also offers more information about his goal to wipe out innumeracy. He taught me it's never to late to conquer math phobia and fulfill my career goals that never materialized because of math avoidance.

Confused on age level
The book was ok however, I wanted a book for older students.This is recommended for 6 th 8 year olds.The book is in an easy to read format and has breaks to complete exercises to practice what you learned.

In a math-phobic era more people should read this book!!

Great games for understanding math concepts
I am a homeschooler. My son is a very visual and hands-on learner, so when he learned math using paper and pencil calculations only, he would quickly forget the concepts by the next day. I searched the internet for math games to reinforce conceptual understanding of decimals for my son. I think this is an exceptional book filled with fun and interesting methods to reinforce math concepts. It relates math to the real world in many of the activities.Read more

My Six Year Old Loves It
But it's good for 5 to 10-year olds.It appeals to the hands-on kid, but doesn't speak down to them at all.Explains the concepts (fractions, averages, volume, graphs, measurements, etc.) clearly and quickly, thengives exercises and fun things for the kid to try.Mostly needs parent tobe helping, though most are simple.We loved making a color spinner andfolding paper (doubling).We charted doubling to show her what a parabolalooked like. Very Helpful!
I use this book often with my 7th grade math intervention students.They enjoy it and it keeps their attention long enough to learn something new or practice what they already know! I highly recommend it!

Make sure the kids have a ruler!
