5-0 out of 5 stars Great (and fun) education!
My six-year-old son loves it--the pictures are great. I must say, I learned something about estimating, too. Good fun for the whole family.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have book for young children
I bought this book for my five-year-old, and my seven-year-old can't put it down. They both want it for their bedtime book, which is fine by me. This book is fun, engaging and smart. The author does a great job making numbers, even the really big ones, less scary and easier to conceptualize. The photographs are creatively done and compelling to look at. This book belongs in every elementary school and any home with young chidren. I estimate that I'll read this book to my children hundreds of times - this week! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Math Review Period !
Extremely well written math review from arithmetic to algerbra. Read this, then do practice questions.

5-0 out of 5 stars If math isn't your thing...
I ordered this book based largely on the recommendations that other Amazon customers left. Now that I've taken the GRE, I wanted to endorse it as well. I have a background that lacked math; I needed one math course to graduate college, took a basic algebra course and didn't do that well. Obviously I was concerned about the prospect of taking a standardized test 8 years later! This book assumes that the reader knows nothing, and is incredibly clear and concise. There were a few examples that seemed to skip a visual step but for the large part, I couldn't have fared half as well as I did without it. I found it especially helpful with addressing and solving word problems. Definitely invest the money, this book is worth every penny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Math Review for Standardized Tests (Cliffs Test Prep)
This was a very good review of basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry. There is a diagnostic test in each area. The answers reference the concepts presented and the page the concepts are presented.Concepts are presented clearly. Each concept has several practice problems. There is a review test after each section. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Simply ridiculous
It is hard to imagine a worse math book, except maybe the earlier editions of this title.2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Transition into Algebra and High School Math
This book is commonly used by grade schools as a transition for students to get acquainted with algebra topics and prepare for high school math courses.Sadly, this book is poorly laid out, skipping back and forth between topics like a ping pong ball, and often pampers the reader to an extent of which is clearly childish.Even grade school students who were polled often find the pictures both useless and distracting. The chapters of this book also waste space, while providing very little mathematical content. If you are reading this book, or thinking about getting this book for a school environment, you should seriously consider that this book in no way prepares students for high school math courses. Why 2 stars then? The overwhelming use of pictures and comics to portray mathematics may provide easier to understand concepts for children with learning disabilities; but is often distracting.

3-0 out of 5 stars An unorthodox high school geometry text.
I found this text interesting because it does not follow the standard approach to high school geometry. In a standard high school geometry text, the material is developedfrom Euclid's postulates (axioms) and common notions in the manner that he did in the Elements, albeit in modern language. These books generally cover much the same material, although some include right triangle trigonometry and transformations. The authors of this text choose to introduce their own postulates, which leads to a quite different development of the material and alternative ways of proving standard theorems.Having previously read a standard development of geometry, I found reading it developed in an alternate way fascinating.
5-0 out of 5 stars a very well written text
The text goes through all usual syllabus of high school geometry. All the subjects discussed have very important and basic applications. The authors don't try to give solid mathematical proofs to all theorems; but they just want to concieve the student in the best way possible and they have suceeded in doing so.I think this would work as a very interesting reading to anyone who really wants to learn about fundamentals of geometry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the baffled high school geometry student!

5-0 out of 5 stars Harder questions
The questions are harder in this book than on the actual test. By doing these practice questions, I felt that the test was a breeze. I didn't start to study for the test until the day before the test. When I cracked the brand new book open that night I freaked out because the questions were so hard. I only managed to get a 750 on the test, but considering I only studied 24 hours prior, I say this book is a life saver.

5-0 out of 5 stars SAT IIC
This book makes the SAT II Math IIC an EASY 800...I answered every question and finished with 20 minutes left (a 60 minute test).Needless to say, I got an 800.The real test is much easier than all in this book, and there is a lot that you do not have to learn in this book.Ask your teacher which sections you don't need to study, so that you don't waste your time. My scores on these practice tests ranged from 680 to 740.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful Preparation for SAT IIs
This book gives a lot of practice tests compared to others and also gives harder tests. If you can do well on these tests, you can definitely do well on the real thing. There are several mistakes throughout but they don't create any serious issues. Do the tests over and over again it really helps. Using this book I was able to get an 800. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good way to introdue number strings
I find 12 Ways to Get to 11 to be a very useful tool for the classroom. Every two pages focuses on a different way to get to the number eleven. The pictures correspond directly to what is being said. This is a good springboard for more discussion and work for different combinations of numbers. Teachers can take advantage of the format in which each combination is presented and have their students come up with their own "number stories." This book provides a good alternative way of thinking about addition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Children Think

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Sweet But Difficult to Act out
I love the illustrations, I love the text, I just love this book. But. But I want to kiss my daughter in all of those sweet places while I am reading her the book and I can't because I have to hold the book in one hand and my daughter in the other and become a contortionist to kiss her bellybutton. And I wouldn't be able to do all of the kissing AND reading while my daughter is on the changing table. I guess I'll have to wait until she's in a big-girl bed. So it's not the author's fault, it's just that the book is better for, say, 18 months and up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Counting Kisses

If you are looking for a math book filled with practice problems, then this is the book for you. I am a private tutor and I am currently using this book with one of my students. This book covers many topics (for 8th grade). After each chapter there are tests, which is a good thing. Well, overall this a good practice book for 8th graders. Also, seventh graders can give it a try as well.

Our class liked this book.We thought it was hilarious and gave a wonderful picture of how much a million really is.The kid tower was very imaginative and was an excellent example of a million, billion, and trillion.David M. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Learning Algebra 2
This book greatly enhances the algebra it teaches with many easy-to-follow examples, graphs, and pictures. Also, the topics included are very thorough. The text itself is very easy to understand, with multiple problems, including word problems, immediately following the text and examples. The back of the book has a section on using graphing calculators, a section on formulas that need to be memorized, and a section on how many formulas in math are derived. An index is also included. In addition to all this, the odd answers to almost all of the problems in the book are given in the back of the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complex and WORDY
I am a sophomore in AP Algebra2 and we are on the last year of using these books. They are nothing but trouble and have ridiculous scenarios.Their word problems are unusual in the fact that they use many non-useful termse.g., t=0=1991, which in turn can confuse any person!DON'T BUY IT! unless you just want answers!
