Fun Review
Very good review of a current sports star.Easy for my 7 year old daughter to understand and keep her interested.

Mia Hamm and How She Started
I would recommend this book not only to people who love soccer, but to everyone who enjoys a true story about a great athlete and role model.The story of Mia Hamm is basically about how she was introduced to soccer and how she follows her dream to be the best women's soccer player in the world.

The book is really better than it looks like!

Courage Displayed on a baseball diamond

Great Moments Forgotten
How can you write a children's book on Great Moments in Baseball History and not include 1956 World Series Perfect Game! Don Larsen's World Series accomplishment was only recently matched by another former Yankee, David Wells!! What a terrific oversight!

Best shortstop in New York history
I am a huge fan of Derek Jeter's. That's why I chose this book. I gave it five stars because Matt Christopher described every part of Derek's life accurately. I had already read Derek's autobiography and in that book I learned that his Dad made him sign contracts. In these contracts with his father, Derek had to promise to get good grades -- or else he didn't get to play in any All Star games or anything. Later, dude!

Must read at the Plate with Derek Jeter
The book I'm reviewing is At the Plate with Derek Jeter by Matt Christopher. I think this book deserves five stars. This book is a Derek Jeter biography. A problem that occurs in this story is when he's in high school. He almost gets cut from the team. This tells you how Derek Jeter became a pro baseball player. I would recommend this book to anybody.
Great book to read with a young baseball fan
This series in general, and the Jeter book in particular, are great for a 5-10 year old sports nut.I read this with our 6 year old, a chapter a night for a couple weeks.

Michael Jordan
This book was an awesome book.It has a bunch of information aboutMichael Jordan throughout his whole life.It has information from when he was a young boy all the way into the NBA.I definitly recommend this book to anyone that has an interest in Michael Jordan or that is a fan of the NBA. This is a well written story that has great facts and stats of Michael Jordan.

James and Deloris met in high school after attending a basketball game.They married on Feb. 17, 1963. Michael one of four children was born.The youngest son of theJordan household, baseball was Michaels favorite sport. One day his father put up two wooden backboards and baskets and gave the boys a basketball. They called it the Rack.Michael practiced often to try to keep up with his brothers. Golf's never been so interesting
Boy or girl, young or old, readers will love reading about Tiger Woods' inspiring rise to the top of the golf world. Overcoming racism, economic hardship, and personal limitations, Tiger leads the pack at an incredibly young age. My 9-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter and I read this together, and we were all equally enthralled and inspired by Tiger's story. It was accessible without being overly simple. We're looking forward to reading more entries in Matt Christopher's biography series.

Skating book with Tony Hawk
Matt Christopher is on the Halfpipe WIIIIITH......no idea what a half pipe is.Matt's a writer, not a skater and it shows.You'd be more satisfied with documentaries or interviews on Tony Hawk if that's what you're interested in.Save your money!
Not worth it
Why would you want to read this book when Tony Hawk wrote his own? That has all the information on him you need to know--plus more that wasn't covered in this book. Tony Hawk rocks and I would rather read what he writes.

Big Ken Griffy Jr
I think this book is a good one because it's talking about If You Like a Leftey
This book is a good one to read if you like to read about the Seattle Mariners. They list Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, Edgar Martinez and how they got their victory and got into the playoffs.It talks about when Ken Griffey, Jr. was a kid and how he grew up with his father, who played for the Cincinnati Reds.He practiced with his dad sometimes in Yankee Stadium, until his dad couldn't strike him out anymore.It says who he got married to, his likes, his dislikes.All in all, I rate this a 5 star book.

The story of Ichiro's successful rookie season in 2001
Although "At the Plate with...Ichiro" ends with the Seattle Mariner's rookie season in 2001 it is still worth reading.That is because the point of Matt Christopher's book is how a player everybody said was too short, too skinny, and too weak to make it in professional baseball in the United States ended up winning both the American League Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards.Even though Ichiro continues to be a star, last year breaking George Sisler's record for most hits in a single season, the key lesson here is how he succeeded as the first Japanese-born position player in Major League Baseball.Read more

"A Slugger, Mark McGwire"
I enjoy all of Matt Christopher's books especially his "Sport Bio" ones. I checked out this grand book at the public libary. "At The Plate With Mark McGwire" is a great book because it's allthe way Matt Christopher writes, the way he wrote this book was especiallyGREAT. I think this book is very good because it's very educational for us kids.I really recommend this book to other kids because it gives an authur's message of hard work really pays off.

It was good but could be better

Great book!
On the Court with Kobe Bryant is definetly the best book I have ever read. It gives a complete biography about Kobe`s whole life. It also includes many picture pages of Kobe inside. You should buy this book and you will be happy!

Great skater, average biography
Tara Lipinski is a wonderful skater, but this biography does not begin to do her justice.It is filled with errors that could have been easily corrected by either having an editor who knows something about skating or watching a videotape of the performances in question.Even the photos are nothing special.For a better book about Tara's career, try her autobiography, Triumph on Ice.Skip this one.

Feels Like You're There
On the Ice with Tara Lipinski is a great book.The author is Matt Christopher.He is a great writer.When I read this book I felt like I was there watching Tara skate on the ice.It was a great book and still is.So, whoever is looking for a sports book, this is the one for you to read!

A great book!
When tara was two she saw her first olympics on tv but at the age of four she being to take tiny tot roller skating lessons. Tara was very good also at roller hockey . When tara was six she being ice skating and tara loved it. Tara also stayed with roller skating but soon had to quit and her family moved to texes where they gave her a pony named Moonray . Tara loved her pony and rode him but he cost to much and her parents soon gave him up. When Tara was eleven she started going to competitons and won a lot she beated stars like Michelle Kwan. And in 1998 in winter Tara, fifteen, won the gold medal at the Olympics . Taras brilliant smile was always lighting up the ice rink. ... Read more

da bomb" gretzky"
I thought this book was sweet.I liked it because it told me about his life and how he would play hockey with kids twice his age and still get goals.It said how he would win Stanley Cups and Art Ross trophys(a highest goalscorer of the year).Ialso liked it because it wasn't very long.

Thie was a great book about the greatest player in hockey!
This book was very good. It told about Wayne Gretzkys life, his stats and how great he really was. Thats why his nick name is the Great One. He set more than 61 records and has set untouchable ones. This is one of the best sport books ever made.
