Beautiful and Dreamy
Since most people know the story, I won't elaborate on it. I bought this book for the illustrations and was not disappointed: they're gorgeous and dreamy watercolors that wonderfully represent the emotions of the sweet mermaid and her world, both underwater and above. My only protest is that there were not quite as many as I thought there would be and that the text of the story, while good, was lacking certain details. While the story is a little much for certain age groups, the illustrations are NOT inappropriate, and some of the remarks made by another person really irritated me. So what if one of the illustrations shows the mermaid's nipples? She's a little girl, for heaven's sake! She doesn't have breasts, and there's nothing lewd about the picture; all it shows is a sweet mermaid staring at the surface in childish innocence. If you don't like nudity, you shouldn't be looking at mermaid art. Having said this, I highly recommend this book to all fans of fairytales and/or mermaid art. If you're looking for a more detailed version of "The Little Mermaid", however, I'd recommend Charles Santore's version over this (it has beautiful art too!)

What a treasure!
Many authors and illustrators have tried to tell this story before, but this particular book is a treasure for any 6 to 9 year old to have in her collection of classic fairy tales. Each page of artwork should be a painting - they are so stunning and magical. This version follows the Hans Christian Andersen version of the famous tale, not the Disney movie.Therefore, the Little Mermaid goes up to heaven in the end, which may bother some preschoolers. Ick.
This book is poorly constructed (physical binding) and is made of cheap paper.The illustrations are not very good, and often do not even depict the story accurately.Two examples are when 1) the story says a mermaid has legs, yet the illustration is of a mermaid with the usual fin and 2) the story says a character has tattoos on his face, yet the illustration does not depict them.The characters in the illustrations also look like stock white faces, regardless of the origin of the story. the best book I have read in a long time
this book is great for anyone who likes mermaids and a good mythmy favorites were about romance of human and merfolk I loved it my favorite mermaid book I have read and believe me I have read alot the pictures were really life like and the book is cheap I just could'nt put it down I would suggest this book for anyonethat can read

Originally, I'm not really sure why I purchased this book... I didn't exactly have my heart set on reading this book, but it was cheap and didn't look bad.When the book arrived, it turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise.Read more

TOTALY DIFFERENT THEN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER READ BEFORE
I have read this trilogy three times now, and every single time is as good as the next. I love the back covers, they are soo cheesey in how they discripe the story, espesialy if you say them in an anouncer voice. Anyways, this book is my favorate of the tree and if you love fantacy thats just a little different, you will LOOOVVVVEEEEEE this book as much as i do.
This book is soooooooooo good!
After the evil avatar, Ma'el retreats to Atlantis, Nia and Corwin must fallow him,and find the magical sword,Ekis Calli Werr. When Nia sees her home land again she is shocked to find all the clans imprisoned and atlantis practically in ruins. She finds her "mother" in a dry room aswell as several other mermyds.
"Someone's Listening, But Not Who You Think..."
"Transformation" is the final in Kara Dalkey's "Water" trilogy, beginning with "Ascension" and continuing with "Reunion", both of which are essential reads if you want to understand this final book. Previously, young mermyd called Nia from the underwater city of Atlantis came ashore in order to find Gobiath, a squid-like Farworlder that rules Atlantis. He is one of the last of his kind after Atlantis was betrayed by the evil mermyd Ma'el and his Farworlder Joab, and now Nia is an Avatar (someone with physic links to a particular Farworlder) and the only one who can save her home. In book two she met up with Corwin, a young boy who unwillingly also became an Avatar to Gobiath and helped Nia in rescuing him from the tyrannical King Vortigern.
