5-0 out of 5 stars the spirit to be a favorite
Lilly has one chocolate heart left from Valentine's Day, and it's bedtime, so where is the perfect, safe place to put her chocolate heart until tomorrow? This little bedtime dilemma has Lilly searching around her room for just the right place. Does she find it? 5-0 out of 5 stars I'm glad this is a hefty hardcover or it'd be worn out!
My just-about-to-turn-six year old little girl (and fellow chocaholic) adores this book. We've read it so many times together that she knows each page by heart.Read more

Editorial Review

"In a dark, dark wood there is a dark, dark house..." So begins this tongue-in-cheek rodent tale of intrigue. Four brave and curious mice follow the trail of a big, scary beast, down the dark red stair, into the dark blue cellar, inside the dark green bottle in the dark purple cupboard. Young readers will squeal in delighted fright when the yellow-eyed monster ("A BEAST!") flies out and across the cellar, up the stairs, out of the house, and into the night. The perpetually rhyming, color-obsessed mice follow in hot pursuit. But is the beast really as horrible as it seems?Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another not so scary scary picture book
This book is creepy throughout, yet is cute. The mice-like animals are spooked, but the resolution is fun.
5-0 out of 5 stars Hog Zeep... Beasty Story is fantastic
We purchased the Beasty Story before we had children. Now that we have children we love it even more! I love the flow of the story and the illustrations as well.My 2.5 year old understands the surprise humor and laughs hardy each time we read this book. It's different than some of Bill Martin, Jr's other work, but is wonderful.Don't miss this!

5-0 out of 5 stars My two year old MUST end her evening with this book!
I am at Amazon to buy this book as we have run into our renewal limit at the Library. The rhyming cadence of this story is reminiscent of other Martin titles, and it makes the reading enjoyable for us as parents as well!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Mouse Called Wolf
I thought this book was a funny story. It was funny because a mouse learns to sing and the mouse is friends with a human. I thought the story waas interesting at times because when a human sees a mouse they scream but not Mrs. Honeybee she is nice to the mouse and gives them chocolate. I think you will enjoy this book because it was very interesting. I really enjoyed this book so you should to.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Mouse Called Wolf
I thought this book was a good book because there is always going on. Like when Wolf was singing. I also thought some of the parts were funny. I thought it was funny becausethe only way Mrs.Honeybee could get Wolf to sing was if she gave him a piece of chocolate, and who would have thought, a singing mouse. This book is also weird because that there is a singing mouse and that is funny and very very wierd. It is als weird that Mrs. Honeybee wants to spend all of her extra time with Wolf and Mary (Wolfs mother).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
The insanity of the plan that was before them startled Luke as he woke. He planed to take over the ship of the largest vessel on the seas with less than an eighth of the people that the crew consisted of. Still here he was about to take the Goreleech and kill the horde captain. In the Legend of Luke, Martin goes to try to find out what happened to his father, Luke. He is taken to an island where he learns of what happened by a band of people that were with Luke. Luke's tribe had been attacked by Vilu Daskar's army when the warriors were exploring. Luke wanted revenge and went after Daskar in a ship that they acquired from another group of corsairs that landed on the coast. They finally catch up with them but all are either captured or slain except for Vurg and Beau. They follow the pirates and help Luke make a plan to kill all the pirates. When Luke realizes that his plan failed, he smashes the ship onto the rocks that Martin is on when he hears this story. Martin is devastated, but goes on to Redwall with some new friends that told them the story. This book is really good because it was well written.
5-0 out of 5 stars A legend of legends!!!!
I really like this book. You feel like you are Martin the warrior as he goes to reveal his past and his father's, too. When he gets to his tribe's caves no one is there except for Vurg his father's friend. It's quite an adventure. You should read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Legend for the Years
The Legend of Luke is defiantly one of those one time favorites. You never ever want to read it again, but you absolutely enjoyed the legend of Redwall's famous Martin the Warrior's dad, Luke. In previous Redwall adventures there wasn't much information given on Luke, except that he was the long lost father of Martin. In this tale Martin decides to leave Redwall, accompanied by Trimp the Hedgehog, Dinny Foremole, and his best friend Gonff (who might I add considers himself the Prince of Mousethieves) on an expedition to uncover the mystery of what happened to his legendary father. As he listens to his father's saga, told by his father's very old mate Beau, he hears the tragic but heroic story that lives in his blood.

Editorial Review

Wemberly the mouse worries about everything: big things, like whetherher parents might disappear in the middle of the night; little things, likewhether she'll spill grape juice on her toy rabbit, Petal; and things inbetween, like whether she might shrink in the bathtub. What she is more worriedabout than anything else, however, is her first day at the New Morning NurserySchool: "What if no one else has spots? What if no one else wears stripes? Whatif no one else brings a doll? What if the teacher is mean? What if the roomsmells bad?" Happily, Miss Peachum introduces her to a kindred spirit rightaway. Jewel doesn't have spots, but she is wearing stripes Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND ANYTHING NOT TO LIKE IN THIS WORK.
This is one of those real surprises. What seems simple at first is really rather profound. All little kids worry (as do most adults) and they worry about the strangest little things. But we have to remember that what is little to us, is rather large to a first grader. This little book is perfect to read to the young child and a perfect lead-in to a great discussion of why not to worry and to put everthing into prespective. The text is quite simple and to the point. The art work is great and goes well with the text. The book is funny and the book is true and it has a great ending that actually teaches a lesson. What more could you want?I read this one to my classes all the time and have yet to find a child who could not relate.Recommend this one highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Adorable and Very Helpful for a worrier or not
We bought this book for our son, who had begun to worry a bit more about school, and all the what if's, etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars Adorable little worry wart
Wemberly (a little girl mouse, despite the masculine sounding name) is a worrier. My oh my how she worries. It's amazing the girl can even get out of bed in the morning, she's so wracked with worries morning, noon, and night. She doesn't take the advice of her grandmother half as much as she should. Her grandmother (a sweatshirt wearing, roller-blade enjoying, high-tops sports shoe figure) is constantly advising Wemberly that she is carrying, "Too much worry". And on top of everything Wemberly is about to go to school for the first time. Rest assured that by the end of the tale, Wemberly's worries have at last been put to rest. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful gift for "Nana's"
My nine-year-old granddaughter is just starting ballet, with the help of me, her long-ago dancer "Nana."These Angelina Ballerina books make perfect gifts for her - thank you for making lots of t hem!We got this one first, before her first class, so that she could see some of the "steps."
5-0 out of 5 stars This book IS a ballet class!
Great book! I don't know enough to teach my 4 year old ballet, so I narrate for her living room ballet class by reading the book aloud. I love the fact that it shows me how to pronounce the names of various ballet steps. Plus the descriptions of the steps are good enough that I can help her learn some. The flip book is a fun extra, but don't buy the book for that as it is hard for little hands to 'flip' the pages. Use ribbon to tie it together (with knot) so it's safe for younger kids too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cute!
My four year old absolutely loves this book! She loves to try all the dance steps that Angelina and her friends are doing (and it's neat because it shows you how to do them.) There is also a tear-out section in the back from which my daughter was able to assemble a little book of her own. If you've got an Angelina fan, she'll enjoy this book! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good addition to a Christmas story library
This beautifully illustrated tale gives the reader a warm feeling when a retired postal worker, who is alone in the world, is visited by Angelina and invited to appear as Father Christmas at the school Christmas show. The community appreciates his contribution and he is invited to the school show every year. This is a wonderful reminder to us all that the elderly should not only be cherished, but that they still have much to offer to the community.

5-0 out of 5 stars Owning a peice of myself...
I really loved this book. It was my very first book I got. Of course I got it because my name is Angelina. When I was little I used to think the book was actually about me! I own the first publication of this book and noticed that in the original one I've got it says "Santa Clause" and in the new one that my little cousin has it says "Father Christmas". I don't understand the change. Although I still recommend this book for any little girl who loves to dance, or who's name is Angelina!

My husband grew up with Miss Suzy being read to him & his siblings by his mom. She reads it with a British accent and funny voices, which makes a delightful book even more so. My kids are just captivated, and will listen to it over and over and over--and now they can quote it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Two crying kids
This is a horrible book.We love cats and checked it out from the library after seeing the fuzzy kitty on the cover. My 2 and 4 year olds were totally into the real pics of the kitty and the mice - until the cat fell off the building and died.I had two sobbing kids.I had to make up a different ending and hide the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
My kids and I loved this book.It was very funny, especially for the parent who knows the story of King Kong. The little jokes the author put in the story had me giggling while reading it, which in turn made my kids laugh even harder at the story.I checked this out of the library, but I am going to buy it the next time we hit the book store and add to our personal collection. This is the kind of book you don't mind reading over and over, especially when you pay close attention to the pictures...the Spirit of Mousopolis cracked me up.

Geronimo Stilton books are cute. The stories are well written, although sometimes they seem to go off track. However, my son LOVES the series and anything to get him to read is good enough for me :-)The fonts are the only thing that drives me a little crazy but again, my 8 year old actually finds the fonts entertaining.Go figure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rodent hero goes Egyptian!
I have always liked the mouse so I started creating polymer clay models of it(and the entire office of the Rodent Gazzette).
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice
It was a dream come true for Geronimo- He was off to Egypt to interview a famous archaeologist. He climbed onboard a crabby old camel that would take him across the desert to Cheese Pyramid. There, Among mummies, hieroglyphs, He would learn the secret of the Seven Wonders Of The Ancient Mouse World..... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Again, Grandma!
Good thing this is a sturdy book, because my grandchildren hunt for it the moment they come in the door, and we read it until I entice them away from it with cookies or something! We are on our third mouse (there is a pattern on the book for making one if you lose the one that comes with the book). If you want your kids/grandkids to love books more than television, this is a great start in that direction...

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite childhood book
This is a great book! I'm 24 now, and I still remember reading this book with my mother and how excited I used to get whenever we would read it together. I still have it and I will never get rid of it! It's a cherished childhood memory for me. I highly recommend it for parents who want a book their children will truly enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A cute mouse??
If there is such a thing as a cute mouse, the one in this book is it!My two year old son loves to read this book and push the little mouse through the small slits. He quickly figured out how to follow the line to the next slot. What an innovative book.I think it really helps with small motor skills. The only person who isn't fond of the book is my mother, who hates mice. She doesn't see much cute about it, but she'll get over it when my little one begs her to read it with his big, baby blue eyes! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Teased One's Time To Shine --- Bwilliant!
Rodney Rat is feeling "wather" down. He can't even pronounce his own name because he always pronounces his "rs" as "ws." All the other rodents at his school tease him --- the guinea pigs, the mice and others. He eats his lunch alone and he hides his head underneath his jacket. Then a new rodent shows up, a capybara, who's bigger than any of them and seems like she might be smarter too. But maybe Rodney can outwit her and turn his pronunciation problem to his advantage.
5-0 out of 5 stars Three cheers for the underdog!
One lesson that my elementary students learned from this story was to not be scared of bullies too much. They eventually go away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaches Great Lessons
This book is great on two levels. The book can be used to open the subject of bullies. On another level, it can approach the subject of disabilities.Disability does not mean unable to achieve. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating reading.
C.B. Mordan's dark woodcuts are perfect to accompany OH RATS! THE STORY OF RATS AND PEOPLE. Here science, history and natural history blend to provide a spirited, lovely account of rats and their interactions with humans. Kids in grades 3-5 will find this fascinating reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rat a tat tat tat
I thought I knew a lot about rats. I did. After having read Robert Sullivan's book for adults, "Rats: Observations on the History and Habitat of the City's Most Unwanted Inhabitants", I found myself under the distinct impression that Sullivan had told me everything about rats that there was to know. Imagine my shock then when, upon picking up Albert Marrin's, "Oh, Rats!: The Story of Rats and People", I discovered fact after fact after fact that I didn't know at all. Did you know that there was once a prehistoric rat that was seven feet long 17 million years ago? Or that a rat can collapse its skeleton so as to fit into tight places? Marrin doesn't just look at rats. He examines their bad and good (they have some) qualities in such a way that his book comes across as the foremost children's literature authority on the critters proper. Stir in C.B. Mordan's woodcut-like illustrations and you have yourself one heckuva book. One that will have even its adult readers alternately aghast and entranced.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rampaging Dog!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a sweet book. Especially when puppies come out of the volcano. It's pretty funny when Dogzilla eats the mice furniture and that's just the appetizer. She eats the whole store! Check out the funny ratings in the beginning of the book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Funny a few times
Dogzilla has interesting illustrations and a long series of jokes, funny at different ages. My 2-year old likes most of it, except the bits with no dog in them (note that although she is dog-crazed, other books do not have to have a dog on every page; she likes good text, too). I found it funny the first few times, but it doesn't hold up to the number of readings she requires to digest a book. We tire of it and hide it before she is done with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best kids books in a long time
"Dogzilla" is hillarious to say the least. We discovered this book quite by accident while waiting for an appointment. We read this book five times before our name was called and laughed until the tears were streaming down our cheeks. I had to write down the information before leaving because we had to get our own copy. Well thanks to grandparents and amazon we've laughed our way through this book several more times. Even sent it to school with my four year old to share with his class and they laughed their way through it too. well worth the money as it will quickly become a treasured favorite for the whole family. most definitely five stars. ...
