Another Fun Lift the Flap Book from Maisy
If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world. Maisy is a new favorite of 16 month old
Ayla, my 16 month old grand-daughter, just loves this book.She also loved the Karen Katz books, too, as she is into lifting the flap books.

Maisy's a winner
My two year old son loves the Maisy books and so do I - the illustrations are so appealling!He really enjoys this book.The premise is very simple - does Maisy live in the stable? no, the horses do etc - but it lends itself to racuous shouts of "no" as he lifts the flap on each page, which is a lot of fun.It's also very robust, which I appreciate.So far none of the flaps have been torn off.My only criticism is that it's very short.I feel a bit cheated by that.If you're after one fun flap book, I would recommend "Where's Spot" ahead of Maisy. ... An inspiring read for ages two and up
Although the subject matter of this book initially appeared to be for an older child, it is clear that the text and illustrations appeal as strongly to the younger set.Ever since learning of Matthew the Mouse'sdetermination to become a painter (in contravention of his parents desiresthat he become a M.D.) my two-year-old son (also named Matthew) has beenwielding his paintbrush often and furiously.The illustrations areaesthetically pleasing and clarify the text perfectly.The text, whilesimple in form, provides excellent vocabulary builders (e.g., use of"embrace" rather than "hug") and also gives the readerthe chance to discuss with the child many ideas and activities that takeplace inside and outside the home. All in all a wonderful find; a storythat truly respects a child's right to follow his or her own dreams.

The story of Earl, the most spoiled squirrel in the world
If there is something familiar about the way "Earl the Squirrel" is drawn, that is simply because he is the creation of Don Freeman, the writer-artist of the classic picture book "Corduroy." Another plea to put this back in print...
There are so many wonderful children's stories from decades past that are still in print (Dr. Suess books immediately come to mind) so I see no reason this one didn't stick around as well. Obviously publishing companies are willing to carry titles for years and years and years, and Mousekins Golden House simply needs to be one of them. The illustrations are a little dated now, but the smiling, rotting pumpkin at the end always brings a smile to my face, as well. Plus, I like the messages of trusting your instincts and thinking for yourself.
Bring back Mousekin's Golden House!

Can't live without
This is by far my favorite book from childhood. When I was able to read it again 35 years later it was like my old friend had finally returned home. Beautifully written, the story is about a little mouse who makes his home in a Halloween pumpkin. The pictures are so beautifully illustrated and the story so charming that no child should ever grow up without reading this book. not just another run-of-the-mill alphabet book
This is a charmingly different alphabet book than most.There is a lot of creativity in it.The title would lead one to think that it is about construction as in bulldozers, contractors, etc.It is however more of a alphabet of home repair.The mouse, Airbrushes an A, Levels an L, Measures an M and Welds a W.The only 2 downsides:
A Good Book for Babies and Toddlers but not necessarily Preschoolers
Amazon recommends this book for the' Baby to Preschool' age range, but unless your child doesn't know their alphabet, I would say it is too simplistic for a preschooler.

Wordplay at its best

The Mouse and the Motorcycle
I read this book alot when I was younger, and now as a teenager I bought it and read it again just to pass the time. It was funny, smart, and Beverly Cleary makes it sound like mice and boys can talk to each other in real life and it's an everyday occurance. It is such a great book, if I can love it as much as a teenager as I did as a kid.

Fearless Ralph

Survival, bravery, teamwork!
This original picture storybook is bursting with typical Steven Kellogg illustrations. The text and the engaging illustrations work together to present a classic tale.The layout is characterized by full page and many double-paged spreads which allow Kellogg to fill both pages with cute mice and appealing scenery.Some pages show the perspective of the mice in the hole juxtaposed with the tall stairs for people in the house.The sailing ship and the mice on the island show life size mice and the skog who is a similar size.The colors are watercolor and muted.Children have loved this story and the mice in it for over forty years.It is a beautiful tale of survival, bravery, team-workand getting along with others different from oneself.

Yet another beloved Steven Kellogg book from my fleeting youth.Published originally in 1973, the story tells the tale of a pack of mice that decide to leave the city life and become sea faring rodents instead.Together, the seven little creatures take a small antique ship (with working cannon) from the antique store in which they leave and set sail into the sea.When at long last they come across a tropical isle, they are shocked to discover that the land already has an inhabitant.According to their books, this is the island of the Skog.Not entirely certain what a Skog is, they bombard the land with cannon balls.That done, they set about inhabiting the isle but are shocked to discover giant footprints.After successfully unmasking the creature, they discover that perhaps jumping to conclusions is not the best policy when meeting people different from yourself for the first time. A nice story with good illustrations suitble for 3-8 yrs. Several mice,wanting a new life free of opression, set out to sea to find a peacefulisland. Upon their arrival, they discover footprints belonging to what theybelieve to be a large beast. They set out to remove the beast from theisland, only to discover that all was not as it seemed to be. Just Plain Fun
I read this book to my younger sister so many times in the past...In the world of hands-on children's books where you pull, turn, and flip the pieces, this book is a treasure.It's well put together enought to withstand years of play.

This is my sons absolute favorite book!There is tons of different things to do but it does get warn outd quickly if child is less then 2 and tears at it.Amazing Educational Book!

My kids love this book
So much so, in fact, that we are now purchasing our third copy. Each of our previous copies has held up remarkably well considering how well-loved they were, but as with all books with moving pieces, eventually you need to reinvest. My son, now five, adored this. The page that introduces you to the 26 mice in Mr. Brice's house was a perennial favorite for him and taught him phonics as well as being just plain fun. Your child will get exposure to opposites, reasoning and problem solving, and to many other great skills, all while having a blast with this book. Geronimo!
These books are very short, but very interesting.I have a 10 year old son who's an advanced reader, yet he's tender enough to get all wrapped up in the Geronimo Stilton books.He loves them, they're a great buy.

The search for sunken treasure
I can't believe how many adventures Geronimo goes on. Can you? 26! And #25 is the best. I've read them all, and THE SEARCH FOR SUNKEN TREASURE is so good, I finished it 1 and a half hours after buying it. I just couldn't put it down! I rate it 5 stars. I highly recommend it for you. It's not just 5 stars --- it's 100% AWESOME!

my 13 month old ADORES this book!he has learned several of the animals in it and now walks around saying 'goose!goose!' all the time.the book is small enough to fit in a diaper bag and sturdy enough to take on the go.the colors are bright and the pictures are chunky and clear.FABULOUS BOOK for little ones!!!

tiny, colorful, fun
From my one-and-a-half-yr-old's perspective this book has all the elements of a favorite: it's tiny (about 4x4 inches), illustrated in bright bold colors, and full of animals that he can identify by name.I just wish I'd found it when he was younger -- it seems like the type of book a 6 or 9-month old could enjoy, and I'm afraid its too simple to hold his attention much past 18 months.

A good book for a beginning reader
My first grader got this book for Christmas and loves it!It is easy enough for her to understand the story, and yet doesn't talk down to her or use words that are too easy. Read it AGAIN, please!

I was disappointed by the lack of light, too.
Like the other reviewer, I was looking forward to the stars lighting up in this book, and was disappointed to find that feature missing from the book I received.I had to come back to the product page to see if I had misunderstood the description, and now I find that the only mention of the book lighting up is on the cover photo, so disregard that photo.The book is otherwise beautiful, with vivid, gorgeous colors, and I would never have been disappointed had I not had the misunderstanding about the light effect.My daughter loves all things Maisy, so this is a hit with her, and like the other reviewer mentioned, she doesn't know that anything is missing, so she would probably give it five stars.

Sweet books, but where's the Night Light?
Maisy watches the sunset and gets ready for bed.It's a very sweet book with pretty sunset backgrounds.However the night light advertised on the front of the cover is missing.We complained to Amazon and they sent a replacement, which also did not have the night light feature.Too bad, I'm sure my kids would've loved a book that lights up!But they don't know it was supposed to have a light and enjoy it anyway.I guess we parents are the only disappointed ones. ... wonderful!
This is a wonderful book.My daughter is 20 months and will not go to bed for naps or in the evening without it.The illustrations are just superb and have so much to talk about and marvel at, and the story is great.I think most of us have been little mouse at some point in our lives!I love this book and am sure it will remain a family favourite for years to come.

What a wonderful bedtime book!
We first checked this book out from the library on a whim.I'd never heard of the author and was just trying to grab a few books on the fly to keep my son entertained.He immediately fell in love with this book.He asked me to read it repeatedly, and it has now become his all time favorite.It is a shame it is not as popular as some of the other children's books out right now, for it is every bit as well written.It is a definite must for your child's bedtime book collection!

Tale of a Persistent Mouse who Perseveres-Our Favorite Book!
About two months ago, I purchased this book for my 3 year old, who is a very persistent little person.She loves this book because she likes to sleep in her parent's bed when she can't get to sleep, just like the Little Mouse in this story, who in the end, after asking many times, "Can I sleep in your bed?" finally gets to sleep in Big Mouse's bed.
