5-0 out of 5 stars Glad I looked...
"Made You Look" is a wealth of information with outstanding illustrations to help young people understand advertising and how media impacts our lives and decisions. This title from the list,SC Reads 2005-2006: 100 Titles for High School Students, is one that older elementary, middle school and high school students can all enjoy. In a classroom or at home, this book provides great sparks for lively discussions!

5-0 out of 5 stars Made Me Look Again
This is an excellent tool for teaching media literacy and critical thinking to school-age children, and even to adults!I appreciate the history, the presentation of multiple perspectives, and the education about consumer advocacy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Culture jamming for the younger generation!!
I thought that this book was very interesting when I picked it up, because I had never seen anything like it! Even the author states:Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book for teens
This book is packed full with info with teens. Though at some time it seems focused on the obvious (different kinds of jobs) If you're a teen looking for work, check it out.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good summaries, good resumes, the rest sucks
I got this book from the library, and I'm glad I did. This book provides helpful descriptions and ideas of jobs, but it didn't provide the information I wanted on how to obtain them. It provides several website links, most of them completely useless. The tips for resume writing were helpful though. Basically, it spends the first 20 pages convincing you that you want a job, about 100 pages listing types of jobs and what's involved for them, and the last 100 talk about resumes, interviews, and applications. The interview tips are simple like "Don't wear gobs of makeup", no big secrets or really helpful info. To conclude, the book is worth a glance, but the library already paid for it, there's no reason for you to. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Keep the age in mind
This is a well written babysitters guide. My problem with it is that it is written for 9-12 year olds and many states require that babysitters be 13 years old and have a babysitting class. If you aren't sure about your state's requirements (or didn't realize they existed), call your local department of Family and Children's Services and ask them the home-alone and babysitting age requirements.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!!!! LOve it!

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent homeschool resource!
I really love this series. Each week has a schedule, which helps tremendously with organization, and a bunch of suggested activities that are actually fun, interesting, and varied. There is some prep work involved, but I think that's a good thing, because it forces you to be more involved at all times rather than letting you take the lazy way and just tear out some sheets.I can see how it would be harder for parents with two kids at the same level, since the pages aren't perforated, but other than that I think it provides a great backbone for planning and learning.I also like how it doesn't just focus on math and reading, but branches out into other areas as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall very good...
As a former educator I was very interested in the authors' choices for a 2nd grade scope and sequence (specific objectives to be taught).Although the objectives taught are excellent, it was difficult to determine what they were because nowhere in the book were yearly objectives listed. I had to dig them out of each daily lesson. That was frustrating. Almost as frustrating was digging out a list of literature needed for the year.Again, I had to search each lesson. All that aside, the lessons are excellent and provide numerous approaches to teaching concepts. This is not simply a workbook as many homeschool texts are.I recommend it to all homeschoolers who are willing to work a little harder to provide a quality education for their child. I plan to use this text to homeschool my child this year.

3-0 out of 5 stars An inexpensive help for homeschoolers with 1 or 2 children
The Learn at Home series is pretty thorough but it requires a lot ofeffort and preparation on the teachers part.It is not an all-inclusivepackage but a good guideline. The thick books are difficult for thestudents to use when they do the worksheets in them and the pages are notdesigned to tear out and photocopy. This series is not for big familieswith 1 teacher because there is alot of time in gathering manipulatives andresources.I don't recommend it for the nervous beginner but my wife likedit's plans.I thought the vocabulary was too easy for the grades.Itwould be a great model for your school year planning and is inexpensive. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good fun!
Well, I didn't write it, but I can say that my son has "gobbled it up" quite happily.Lotta cute touches in the illustrations, fun gobble-based words to play around with (and make up new ones with the kids), and frankly, it's nice to see turkeys having fun for a change (particularly this time of year!).

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!
(Then again, I wrote it.)Seeing that there were no reviews yet for Turkey Ball, I wanted to let readers know that this review area on Amazon is not just referred to by fellow customers, but by authors, also, who love to see your feedback. Please do enter your comments. And by the way, isn't that Liz Conrad GREAT!

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Basic for the medium to advanced reader
While this book was informative it appeared to be written to a grade school level and was too high level for my taste. If you want a basic taste of what Steve Jobs is about this will not satisfy your appetite.I would suggest other options. However, if you are looking to pass a good book on to your child to read to get an understanding of this individual this may be successful. Not sure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Steve Jobs an Original Life
Suzan Wilson's book, Steve Jobs, Wizard of Apple Computer is an amazing read about an amazingly original man. Ms. Wilson's book tells Steve Jobs story in a most readable writing style. The reader is constantlymade aware of Mr. Jobs climb from early teenage rebel to successful computer inventor. This finely researched book is an excellent read and would be a great addition to eveyone's library. Especially those of us- all of us who have computers! Buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jobs rocks the party that rocks the body
First of all... I am not an impartial judge of this book sice Jobs is my idle.I think book represents his life with Apple as well as personally fairly well. For cultist Apple fans like myself there weren't too many surprises.Overall a great read.Read more
