5-0 out of 5 stars Good money book for kids.
I've looked at a lot of books for kids and this is one of the best I've found. Not that many pictures, but great age appropriate advice on investing, making money, saving, and how to think like a business person. The author also explains that charity is important too. You don't see that too often, even in adult books.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best money book for kids!
I've read quite a lot of money books, for kids, teens and adults. But they are either too easy or hard. Recently, I found this book in a bookstore, and boy, am I glad! I flipped through the book and I thought, "I finally found the perfect money-making book for me! I bought the book immediately and read it the minute I returned home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy enough for Kindergarteners
I have used several of Beverly Armstrong's books in my Kindergarten class. The drawings are cute and easy to follow. I start out with directed drawings of how to follow the "left to right sequence." Later, the students draw in the writing center and then label the picture andwriteabout their drawing (the writing ability will vary). They havereally enjoyed this! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars From a teacher...
An interesting look at American storefronts and markets. It explains products sold and the roles of shopkeepers, but the visuals aren't what I had wished. Some recent pictures of people dressed up as store owners andshoppers.I'd also wished it discussed more about economics in the 18thand 19th century.I will use it occasionally as a reference item, but Ihave found more interesting formats. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The inventor of cereal
This book is a good introduction to the invention of the first cereal. It provides colorful pictures to represent newer cereal labels; and black and white pictures to represent a time period many years ago. The author divides the book into short chapters that give a chronological review of W. K. Kellogg's life.I encourge young readers to read this easy and interesting story about how our favorite cereals were invented. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Story for Bedtime
Using bright picture collages, Lorianne Siomades presents a charming bedtime book for little ones. The opening question, "Do you know where wild babies sleep?" leads to pages of sleeping baby animals who are watched over by a protective parent. Each illustration also shows the correct environment for the animals: a kangaroo, a puffin, a skunk, a dormouse, a stingray, an armadillo, a monkey, a walrus, and a porcupine. Highly recommended! Other books by Lorianne Siomades include "Cuckoo Can't Find You," "Kangaroo and Cricket," and "A Place to Bloom." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent, informative book
A great resource for people who have a desire to start their own business but don't know the technical details of it. The "business brainstormer" sections can be great for getting the information straght in your mind and for your spreadsheet.1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Time or Money
This book is too general. It's links and contacts apply only to USA and have no Canadian resources. This book is worth a peek while youre in a book store but dont invest in it.look at sun-tzu the art of war or similar books.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unhealthy Parent/Child Interact ions
So, you have a child who is advanced academically and needs to gain some understanding of Money and how to deal with it intelligently. This book may do that, but the interactions between parent and child are not examples I would choose to give to my child. My child and I read one chapter, discussed how icky the interactions made us feel, and terminated the reading of this book. Good for compost? Will the worms like it?Maybe.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Was a Superb Gift!
I wish I had read this book when I was a kid! I gave my nieces this book for the holidays because I wanted something that was educational as well as fun. The girls were skeptical at first, but we were soon all delighted by the book. It is written in hip, kid-savvy lingo that helps them understand finance, and enjoy it! I strongly recommend this book as a guilt-free gift that will make kids, parents, and aunts very happy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finance mad Fun!!!
Kathryn Durham's Mom, Can You Buy Me This?, is a great way to teach children about fiscal responsibility. There are two titles in this series Ryan Gets An Allowance and Richard Gets A Job.In today's ever changing economy, children need to learn to be financially responsible at an early age. Durham uses characters such as Mr. Tax to teach children about the importance of paying taxes. Its an entertaining as well and educational read for children, Durham does a great job bringing the this seemingly difficult information down to a level where children can understand it. Parents might even learn a thing or two! The book also has word problems at the end of each chapter, so children can test out what they learned. I would recommend this book to all parents. ... "It starts with a cow."So begins Elisha Cooper's entertaining and inventive picture book, Ice Cream. From the cows grazing on grass in the pasture, to the yummy final product being delivered to stores, Mr Cooper details each fascinating step in the creation of everyone's favorite treat. His engaging text, that often winds its way creatively around the page, is informative and filled with simple, straightforward explanations, marvelous machine sound effects, and subtle humor, and is enhanced by charming pencil and watercolor artwork.Perfect for kids 7-10, or for reading aloud to younger children, Ice Cream is non-fiction at its very best, and a delicious little masterpiece you don't want to miss. ... An absolutely superb book about the 18th century process of selecting, felling and transporting enormous New England hardwood trees so that they might be fashioned into masts for the king's ships. This book is filled with wonderfully detailed drawings and fascinating information. An example: "A first-class British warship was larger than Faneuil Hall in Boston. It was larger than the State House at Williamsburg in Virginia, larger than any building in the colonies from Maine to Georgia."If only there were more books like this!A must for any classroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Diana Appelbaum thanks her readers
I have been delighted with the wonderful response that this book has elicited from readers, as well as by the generous reception that it has had among teachers, librarians and reviewers. Most recently, it has been honored by YANKEE MAGAZINE, where the editorial staff has included GIANTS IN THE LAND on a list of the best 100 books ever written for children about New England.I hope that parents who enjoy reading GIANTS IN THE LAND with their children will also enjoy reading BULLOUGH'S POND, a book for grownups published under my childhood name, Diana Muir.

5-0 out of 5 stars Giants in the Land
I really like this book because all of it is true and it happened where I live. I like to think that the giants once grew where my house is. It is also special that the giants only grew in New England. The story is good tolisten to or to read because it is telling real things in a way that is funto hear. I particularly like the part about having to put smaller trees andbranches underneath to keep it from breaking when the giant falls. My Dadand I have cut down small trees it is exciting when they fall. Learninghistory through books like this is great. ... Read more
