5-0 out of 5 stars a great book!
a great sequal to the shadow trap! definetly recommended to all ages! anakin and obi-wan go on a misson to the planet vanqor. anakin feels responsible for yaddle's death, and obi-wan no longer trusts him. will they ever trust each other again? read to find out!

4-0 out of 5 stars The gap widens between Obi and Anakin
This was an excellent book for those following the Obi/Anikan rift that just seems to deepen. to me the highlight of this book is when we get to see what happend to Obi-Wan when he fell into that nest of Gundarks that he refers to in Episode II.
5-0 out of 5 stars great insight
this book gives a great insight into the relationship of Obi-Wan and Anakin. It also shows the stress that Anakin is going through being the Chosen One. ... Read more

Editorial Review

One day the Spanish ambassador moves into the Parisian house next door to Miss Clavel, Madeline, and her 11 classmates. And, His Excellency has a boy! Pepito, as he is named, is not just any boy: according to Madeline, he is a "bad hat"--for starters, he's equipped with an irksome slingshot, he "ghosts," and he boasts. And when Miss Clavel gives him a box of tools to function as an "outlet for his energy," he makes a guillotine for the cook's chickens. ("He ate them ROASTED, GRILLED, AND FRITO! Oh what a horror was PEPITO.") Children will love Ludwig Bemelmans's jaunty rhymes and simple, evocative drawings, and the ferocity with which the feisty Madeline suspects, condemns, and rebuffs the boisterous new boy neighbor. In the end, however, everything comes out right, and we, along with Miss Clavel, can relax. 1-0 out of 5 stars Way too negative...
The third book in the "Madeline"series, this focusses on the wild behavior of Pepito, a troublemaking boy who is meant to be a foil for the mischievous Madeline. The behavior shown is pretty excessive, though: Bemelmans shows the boy tying a cat up in a pillowcase and releasing it into a pack of dogs, which strikes me a way too violent.Certainly not appropriate for smaller (toddler) readers.Even if you liked the other Madeline books, you might want to think twice before picking this one up.It's a little scary.

5-0 out of 5 stars Has Madeline met her match in the Bad Hat who moves in next door?
The only other Madeline book that I had read besides "Madeline" was "Madeline's Rescue," although I knew there were other books out there about Ludwig Bemelmans' precocious young girl who lived in an old house in Paris that was covered with vines. So reading "Madeline and the Bad Hat" was a new experience.Still, I have no explanation for why I did not recognize the idiom of "a bad hat" as a colloquialism for an unscrupulous person, even though I feel like I should.
5-0 out of 5 stars A change of heart
Pepito, the boy in this book has a change of heart and goes from being unkind to animals to caring for them.It is a good story. As far as it being "dark" as another reviewer said, well, does that reader eat chickens? That's what Pepito was doing before he learned a new way to live with the animals he came to love. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A day in the life of Godzilla, kiddie style.
A nice poem of playing, eating, and sleeping giant monsters on Monster Island with some truly beautiful Eggleton drawings of the classic Toho beasts for both young and old to marvel over.A great bedtime story and a personal favorite in our house.Highest recommendation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too Cool For Words!!!!
Being adopted from Russia I wasn't familiar with Godzilla. I really enjoyed this book and since have seen the original Godzilla movie. I wish the author would write some more about Godzilla, maybe "Godzilla visits Russia" or "Godzilla was an orphan". Thanks for a great story.

5-0 out of 5 stars OG Godzilla!

1-0 out of 5 stars This book preaches ruthless murder and terrorism!
The hero of the story is Jango, who calls himself a bounty hunter before the admiring eyes of his son, Boba.In reality, however, Jango is no more than a ruthless hired assassin whose only motivation is money. Moreover, by subcontracting an explosives expert to assassinate a Senator, Jango becomes the intellectual author of a terrorist attack. And then he murders his attractive young assistant in cold blood when she is captured and begins to talk! No, I'm sorry, this book has no place on our children's bookshelves. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Star Wars ESB..Collecting knowledge through reading...
Since most reviews are about the item itself I would first like to say that collecting SW merchandise for close to 30 yeras is my top priority. Those of you who also collect will find that for a short but good story book adventure for part V "The Empire Strikes Back", still brings the magic from Sir George Lucas to the small literature side of Sci-Fi adventure for all ages. I am not only saying this because I love the Star Wars Saga, but to be able to see that when kids re-inact the story means that they have read it, processed it and found it fun enough to act it. Those of you growing up in the 70's know what I mean. Now this new generation will never forget the experiance of being able to read a great sci-fi movie and sit back and say !!!WOW!!! this is great and can't wait for the next book to read!! "May The Force Be With Us All"

Empire Strikes Back
4-0 out of 5 stars Everybody use a blue laser sword!
This is a great book for anyone who is a Star Wars fanatic. While there are some differences in character descriptions in this book it is mostly unimportant. You get a much better feeling of what emotions the characters are going through during different scenes. You also get a much better idea of the lessons Yoda puts Luke through, as well as a better feel of time passing during the relationship. The movie always made it seem that a couple days go by, but the book somewhat shows more time passing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for any Godzilla fan!
This is probably the best of the 2 Godzilla comic compilations. It follows the story of G-Force tracking down Godzilla blah blah blah, if you've read the last collection, or just read the comic books, you know what G-Force is all about. In this book, Godzilla fights a giant mechanical spider, giant aliens (speaking of which, the way they connected the aliens with the super-intelligent apes with the guys from the last series was brilliant), travels through time, fights a new creature called Burtannus, and fights a giant lobster (it's not Ebirah, though). But there's a lot of action in between these fights. If you clame to be the biggest Godzilla fan ever, you'll be a liar until you own this along with the comp' that was before it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This Godzilla book is quite nice. I was impressed with the artwork of the Big G. He's always so terrifying and cool at the same time. The stories Godzilla was put into for this book are unique (our resident mega dinosaur sure is a busy king). I found the last one, the short story on Godzilla's origin and possible purpose in the world, to be the most interesting because no matter how much destruction and suffering the King of Monsters causes, he really is the only one who can be Earth's protector against enemy giant monsters. I think it's about time he realizes it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to Godzilla literature
The final part of the 1990's Dark Horse comic series, 'Past, Present, Future' has Godzilla fighting the familiar intergalactic space apes of previous movies, which was an added bit of ridiculous plot twist we Godzilla fans all know and love. This book practically features 'Godzilla vs. Predator', but instead of the 8 foot intergalactic hunter going after humans, you have a group of 80 foot intergalactic hunters going after Godzila.Interesting, and very different.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Slightly Disappoint But A Great Book Nevertheless!
It's hard nowadays to find great novels that don't drag tons of detail or unnecessary plots in the stories. But Mr. Cerasini does an excellent job with Godzilla Vs. The Robot Monsters!!4-0 out of 5 stars A fine view of Big G
An excellent treament of Godzilla. If Mr.Cerasini would keep his politics to himself, it would be a better novel. His cheap shots detract from the plot, rather than add to it.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best Godzilla novel in this series by Marc Cerasini
One of the best Godzilla books I've ever read, this and "Godzilla 2000" are really good books. Mr. Cerasini captures everything fromGodzilla's radioactive blast to the army firing their cannons and missilesat Godzilla. Godzilla is joined by Mecha King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla,Baragon, Angurius, MOGUERA, and a supporting cast of characters. Howeverthere are some pretty heavy casualties, and a few things left finished. Also, the cover to the novel is awesome. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Just right for us
My son is in kindergarten and is an advanced reader for his class. Still, this book would have been too advanced for him except that he knows the movie so well and he is so interested in Anakin Skywalker that he can understand the book on his own pretty well. It's just at his level and this book has got him so excited about reading on his own that he is practically unstoppable now. It's not great literature but to him it is greatly enjoyable. ...
