Godzilla
Because Amazon has this weird tendency to lump things together, I am reviewing the Godzilla version from Scholastic, for kids, ISBN 0590572121.I mention that because my review, followed by L. Borman's review below, might confuse a few people!
Funny - but not in the good way
This book is either the best book ever or the worst.The writing is so over-the-top bad that it is hard to put down.My copy now has some of the "best" lines underlined:

my fav book
I bought this book in 4th grade and i still love to read it. Godzilla gets a scorpion freind.He also gains 2 enemies, a giant spider and 2 giant praying mantises.If you like godzilla then this is the book you want to read.

Godzilla, King of the Monsters retold for the young reader.
This may be a kinder, gentler Godzilla tale, one that retells segments of the first film (sans Raymond Burr) from the perspective of a group of children, but it is slow and uneven.The second book in the series - Godzilla Invades America - is somewhat of an improvement and closer in tone to the latter day kiddie matinee Godzilla films than this premiere is.There is the usual amount of city stomping, but no one is seriously hurt and a predominantly sympathetic tone for Godzilla will keep the bad dreams away.Recommended for the monster loving youngster.

This book does an excellent job of portraying Godzilla.
"Godzilla Invades America" is a neatrepresantation of the Godzilla universe. This is the first Random House Godzilla novelto feature other monsters.ScottCiencin writes theKamarucas (Gimantis) and Kumonga(Spegia) monsters very closely to theirmovie incarnations.An interestingoccurence in the book has Kamaracurascarrying Kumonga as they fly away toescape their battles with Godzilla andthe giant scorpion.This is strangebecause in "Son of Godzilla", Kumongatries to paralyze and eat Kamaracuras. A must have for any Star Wars: Attack of the Clones fans!
Living in Japan has some disadvantages, one is that movies come out in theaters much later than in America. "Attack of the Clones" came out already in the States on May 13, the movie comes out in the middle of July over here. So I have to make do with looking it up on the Internet and buying the books on "Attack of the Clones". Read more

Godilla is cute
Even if you're not a Godzilla fan, this book is adorable.All the monsters on Monster Island like to play together, but poor Godzilla is lonesome because the smaller monsters are afraid of him.So he swims away to make new friends, but everywhere he goes, people get upset and shoot missiles at him.Poor Godzilla!The story has a happy ending, though, which is important.After all, we all want Godzilla to be happy, don't we?

The best starting point for young Godzilla fans.
This is exactly how I saw Godzilla when I was young, and I still see him that way today: a misunderstood being without a kindred spirit in the world. Good starter reader.
The plot is stronger than Dick and Jane, not quite at the Dr. Seuss level.But my 4-year-old loves the thing.He wants to read it - what more can one ask for a first reader than self-motivation? Good illustrations,basic vocabulary, frequent repetition, and not scary.

Incoherent English for Pre-Schoolers?
I purchased this book yesterday, and while it certainly conforms to the category of 'Preschool', it is not a good book for your young son or daughter.Read more

a surpsringly thorough intro to the Padawan experience
"I Am A Jedi Apprentice" (by Anakin Skywalker) is the sequel of sorts to "I Am A Jedi" (by Qui-Gon Jinn). Just as Qui-Gon's book explained the ins and outs of being a Jedi Knight, this Anakin book explains what it's like to be a Padawan. While intended for younger readers, the picture book goes through a surprising amount of detail describing field gear, the force, the lightsaber, learning tools, the temple and much more. The large illustrations are extracted from the "Attack of the Clones" film. With an emphasis on Anakin, "I Am A Jedi Apprentice"is a surpsringly thorough introduction to the Padawan experience. ... Final chapter in the classic trilogy
Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983.)

James Kahn's novel, Star Wars - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, is a great interpretation of Lucas' screenplay and a closing for the famous Star Wars series. I'm sure any who reads this book, Star Wars fan or not, will enjoy this book. If you are new to the series than I suggest you read the first book in the original trilogy (Episode VI - A New Hope), instead of VI the last one, of course.
Exciting food for the ears and imagination.
Even though I'm in my 30's, I like to think of myself as somewhat of a veteran of listening to radio drama.I discovered this wonderful art of theatrical broadcasting in the early 80's.The local public radio station would broadcast several of the old radio shows throughout the week.I listened to the Lone Ranger, the Green Hornet, Suspense, Abbott and Costello, etc. (Call me a geek for doing it, but I loved every minute of it).Read more
