5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
Once again Crist-Evans has dealt sensitively with a difficult topic. His beautiful words and keen understanding take us on a young boy's journey through loss and rediscovery of family and self.Crist-Evans makes poetry accessible to young adults in a way few others are able to.

5-0 out of 5 stars North of Everything--one of the best
My 14-year old daughter couldn't put it down. The neighbor's boy snagged it before my 21-year old son could get his mitts on it. My wife and I both read it. It's moving and compelling and reads like the wind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching young readers through poetry
Between poetry and prose, this book not only gives voice to the deepest, most personal feelings about abandonment, but also introduces young readers to poetry that talks to them about real things that can happen in life. Just as Crist-Evans did in Moon Over Tennessee, he has made poetry accessible to contemporary young readers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Help Yourself, Help Your Child
We recently moved our family overseas. My son and I referenced "Goodbye House" almost daily to help ease the transition. The book provides areas for children to write and draw their memories of their old home, friends, favorite places, school, etc. It follows the move from beginning to end. In the back are stickers that we used to put on the boxes containing my son's belongings. When we arrived at our new home, he knew immediately which boxes were his and was excited to see that his things really did follow him across the ocean. The end portion of the book provides ideas for getting to know your new neighborhood. Also, there are spaces to draw and write in your impressions of your new house, new friends, new school, etc.I would highly recommend this book to anyone anticipating a move with a young child. It's a great way for them to feel involved when everything around them seems beyond their control.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent preparation for kids unsure about moving
especially good in recognizing fears and feelings about young movers -- worries about a new school and friends, keeping addresses of old friends and former teachers. My 9 year old still has the address of hiskindergarten teacher if he wants to write her... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Gracie
Amazing Gracie is an okay book. It's not the best book that I've read, but its certainly not the worst. One thing I like about this book is that it's written in understandable terms. The kids in the novel used words for their age levels, words that the reader could easily understand. One thing I didn't like about this novel is I feel it moved too quickly. The author didn't spend enough time explaining one event before she moved to the next. In one chapter Gracie was in Salt Lake City, the next in the small town she moved from, and then the next back in Salt Lake. Another thing I liked was the fact that you could picture everything going on in your mind. The author explained how each person looked and what the setting at the time loked like throughly. 3-0 out of 5 stars **Amazing Gracie**
At first I found this book interesting. As I kept reading I found the book sort of sad. I think the mom is trying to hard to be young. I feel bad for Gracie though, it must be annoying to have a dork for a dad. Also, I think the book is a little to dramatic. Overall the book wasn't the type of genre I enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars *~Amazing Gracie~*
This is a good book about a girl named Graci and her problems. Gracie is glad that she lookslike her mom, but she really doesn't want to have her personality or attitude. She doesn't want to have those things because she has depression "episodes." Gracie is not only dealing with her mothers problems, but other teenage issues also. One day her mom announces that she is marrying Pete who is a real dork involved in stocks. Marrying Pete also means thats she is stuck with a 5 yr. old step brother. Not only until the wedding does gracie find out that shes moving to salt lake city utah. In some ways the move is good. She gets her first boyfriend Timo, who really understands her. She finds new friends and getss to see her life through a new view. For her mom and pete the move is a terrible change. Her mom goes through another phase of depression and ends up trying to commit suicide but thankfully fails. Pete's job turns out to be a joke. Its up to Gracie to hold her family together. Can someone her age do all that? Find out by reading ~AMAZING GRACIE~ ... Read more

Aloha Summer is very good.Actually, I think Bill Wallace is good.In fourth grade, I met Bill Wallace at the Belle Isle Public Library.I think Bill Wallace is very funny. He had some funny stories to tell.BillWallace is also a very nice man.I also got to see Bill Wallace'swife, Carol Wallace.I understand that Bill Wllace lives inChickasha, Oklahoma.I also live in Oklahoma.I think Aloha Summer isthe best book Bill Wallace has written.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aloha Summer
I bought this book for my daughter before we went on a trip to Hawaii and afterwords she couldn't wait to arrive. She is already a HUGE Bill Wallace fan. If you read all of his other reviews you'll soon see why he is soloved by kids. Anyway, I thought the story my daughter told me was veryinteresting and so when we returned from Hawaii I myself read the book. Thebook was amazing. It depicted Hawaii as we saw it and related how it hadbeen before all the developement. The characters were very real to life andI could see how my daughter could relate to the story. Hawaii is a magicalplace and so is this book. I read the Horn review and found it to becompletely wrong so I just had to write one from a REAL reader and parentof a beloved fan. Not to mention a new fan-- ME! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written story.
The story is well written in simple sentences, which are descriptive and encourage the young reader to use their imagination. Many children who have moved house will be able to relate to how Tiger must feel. I read this tomy class of 5/6 year olds and they thought it was wonderful and always askfor it to be read again.
