The Kedndrill family moved to a new housing development. The Morris family had to move from Washington to South Calaforina because they are in the witness protection program and the reason they are in it is because Rocky's dad is a drug dealer and the morris helped the FBI get him. The mob wonts to kill them so the moved. Rockys mom had to go back to washington to testify against Rocky's dad. While she is gone there house is set on fire by the owner of the house. The cat saved the morris because he sleep out side and saw the fire and went back in the house to wake up Alex. Two days later there was two more fires. Alex was taken hosage and was put in one of the house taht was getting set on fire. The cat was trying to save Alex but no one would follow him to the house. Alexs dad saw the flames and called the fire department. The cat tryed to save alex but he got hit with a board that was on fire. Pete passed out and when he woke up Alex was out of the house and pete fwas going to the vets.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Coolest Book Ever
The Stranger Next Door is an amazing and a heart pounding book because a little cat ends up doing a big thing. The main characters are Alex an ordinary boy, his friend Rocky, and a cat that knows everything. The problem is that someone keeps on setting houses on fire, and the only one who knows who did it is Pete the cat, unfortunately he can't talk. The setting is in Kansas.I like it because there are problems in the book, and if you keep on reading you will figure them out.Lastly I like it because in the end Pete the cat leads Rocky to find Alex who is stuck in a burning house. So actually Pete the cat saved his owners life. You should read this book because it is the best book I have ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good book
This is a very good book...err...it was when I was five...now I read it again and it's more than a little bland but I definitly recommend it along with the Junie B. Jones books for the littler kids. ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Library Card
The Library Card is four short stories about kids who never thought they would ever be interested in reading until a "magical and mysterious" library card comes and takes these kids to the library and turns these lazy punks into inquiring minds. This is one of the best books I've ever read. I would recommend this book to anybody!

5-0 out of 5 stars Moving Day for Tooter!

3-0 out of 5 stars A nice book
Libby Koponen's novel Blow Out the Moon is based on her own experiences growing up. She includes photographs and drawings throughout the book.
4-0 out of 5 stars An Engaging Adventure
This is the story of Libby, a young American girl who lives in England for a year and a half. She is naturally independent and spunky, yet learns that being polite means caring about others' feelings.Overall, this book is wonderful; it's engaging in a way that too few books are.Schoolgirl Libby is a joy to watch as she travels to England and attends boarding school, encountering difficulties and misadventures along the way.Unfortunately, author Libby Koponen's writing is a tad overly simplified, and she fails to fully transform her voice into that of a true child.Koponen instead comes across as an adult trying to write like a child.Still, that's my sole complaint about this great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Book for Young Readers
My 10-year-old daughter and I read this book when it first came out, and we both loved it. It's not the usual fare you find for young readers these days: there are no wizards, dragons, or talking animals, just a spunky young american girl who grows up a lot while spending a year at an English boarding school in the 1950's.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Reveiw by a Completely Dramatic and Insane Kid Named Syd
This book rocks! If you are a Fear Street fan like me, READ THIS! NOW! R.L. Stine is a genius. The first two were awesome....And he outdid himself again! I write books for my 6th grade classmates and he inspires me so! Thanks R.L. Stine, if I ever meet you, I'll treat you to saganaki. ;)

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is one of the best!!!
When I read the first part (the first horror) I was really scared. And I don't like to admit those things, so you can believe me. This and the other two books are about a house which better never should have been build. The house was build over a cemetery of the victims of the Fear Family. Insiders knew what sort of people the Fears where and why it's logical that the house is doomed. In 20 years nobody lived there but then the Frasiers (part one) and Cally Frasier has to stay in the house - as a ghost.
5-0 out of 5 stars Mind Grabbing

5-0 out of 5 stars Will Ashleigh give up horses?
Ashleigh Griffen is extremely upset when Shadow; a filly she took care of gets sold. Soon all the other yearlings go too. She then finds out that her friend is moving to California. She starts acting girly and totally ignores Stardust and plans never to get attached to another horse. When a neglected mare in foal arrives at Edgardale will she change her mind?

4-0 out of 5 stars A kinda corny ending
Ok, It was easy to predict that Mona would come back, because Ashleigh in the 1st book of Thoroughbred mentioned it. But the last page was really really pathetic. I mean, if you got a promotion with more money would Mona's dad really give it up? And at the last minute too? And the house deal. Usually they don't "fall through" at the last minute. The rest of the book was good, except when Ashleigh got all girly. So , it's not that bad of a book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A moodsetter for the holidays!
Chris Platt rolls out another great Ashliegh book! I love how you get so involved with Ashliegh and her feelings. Just a little suggestion though, wouldn't it be nice not to killthis series? Why don't you not make Ashliegh one age the whole time, end it when she says goodbye to Stardust and write a new series called SAMANTHA! Or CINDY! Or CHRISTINA. It couldn't hurt to do something different! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars New Brownie (and reluctant reader!) LOVED this book
My daughter is an enthusiastic Brownie, but, alas, a reluctant reader. It's always a challenge to find something that holds her interest. She LOVED this book--says she wants to read all of them. Although the bookseems formulaic and predictable from an adult point of view, from hersecond-grade viewpoint, it was a thrill a minute. She was really on theedge of her seat! And delighted with how it all turned out.

4-0 out of 5 stars It was all there
I'm only rating it four stars, but I really did enjoy it. Jane, the "middle moffat" is trying to do everything. She makes friends with a 99 year old neighbor, while at the same time trying to do everything to help him live to a 100. She helps her little brother Rufus at Christmas. While everyone's asleep, she climbs downstairs...
5-0 out of 5 stars Middle Moffat Not So Mysterious
Okay, you know your average family, right? Well The Moffat's are anything but ordinary! I mean sure they have two sisters, two brothers, and a widowed mom. But do normal families have 10 year olds who are friends with 99 year olds? I think not, besides the fact of being a little weird, The Middle Moffat is a perfectly written book. The Middle Moffat is an excellent book by Eleanor Estes. Wonderful, adorable art for kids, that you will enjoy, drawn by Louis Slobodkin, The Middle Moffat is 234 pages packed of laughs and touching moments. The Middle Moffat won Horn Book Award and Newbery Honor Award. Some other books written by Eleanor Estes are: Alley, Ginger pye, Pinky pye, Hundred Dresses, The Moffats, Moffat Museum, Rufus M., Tunnel of Hugsey Goode, and The Witch Family. Most of these books have received awards such as ALA, Library Journal, NY book review, Newbery Honor, Publisher Weekly, and Horn book award. I loved reading about the adventures of Janey Moffat, in The Middle Moffat. I highly recommend you read it. Janey has kooky adventures in boring Cranbury CT. Janey will be remembered forever.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very funny
I read this book to my three boys ages 9,6 and 3 and they could not stop laughing.Jane's imagination and simple ways of viewing life around her really capture what it is like to be a kid.We had to stop several times so that they could act out certain parts.I think Jane is a friend that we all would like to have. She's beyond nice and there is never a dull moment when she is around (whether it's in her mind or really happening). 4-0 out of 5 stars Huh
I read this book, super excited because I, like the character, had moved with my parents from Seattle, WA to England. My experience was completely different than hers.
5-0 out of 5 stars hilarious brit lit
Emily Williams is not pleased about having to move to England for a year so her father can teach Medieval History to victims on the other side of the pond. It's not just that she is now a resident of Piddlington-on-the-Weld instead of Seattle. The maroon and teal school uniform, the lack of malls and good coffee, and her haunted underwear drawer might also contribute to her dislike of her new (and temporary) home. But after meeting Aidan, Devon, and Fang-- the nummiest guys anywhere-- and Holly, the (second) coolest girl in a school of drab losers, things start looking up, and Emily just might survive the year.Emily will have you laughing (and cringing) at all of her escapades.

5-0 out of 5 stars A delightful, magical book
I don't have any children nor grandchildren in this age group.I have not read any of the "Carl" books for which Alexandra Day is evidently noted.I saw the cover drawing with a goat toting a Christmas tree & was intrigued.Looking through the book brought smiles & a desire toown this book.At home I found the pictures drew me back again &again. The wild collection of possessions & the large number of petsmade me feel right at home.I enjoyed this book so much I went back to getmore copies for friends but the book store was sold out. Thus, here I amat amazon.com finding the book I was seeking all over the state. As youcan tell, this book is one of my favorites & if I were still apreschool teacher my students would be enjoying it right along with me.5-0 out of 5 stars The Christmas we moved to the barn
Delightful tale of twelve animals and three humans moving house on Christmas Eve.A warm-hearted fantasy world where all the animals do their share. It gives a hopeful message that even in hard circumstances, working together to a good plan the family can survive. The enchanting picturesremind me of The Tompten and other Scandinavian picture books. The magicthings (such as Pinnochio) move with the creatures as well as the practical(the dryer!)A real Christmas classic, about hope and sharing, remindingus that the first Christmas was spent in the barn.

2-0 out of 5 stars A modern family's eviction on Christmas eve
I was really disappointed with this book.If you are a Carl fan, you will not like this book. The illustrations do not bring the family or their plight to life. Some of their belongings, i.e. a commercial popcorn machine, didn't quite fit in the scheme. It would make a nice Christmasgift book for a child.Perhaps the story would have been better suited tothe late 1800's or early 1900's. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good-bye Korea, Hello America
The Park sisters' story begins in Korea as Jangmi and her family pack-up and say good-bye to relatives and friends. Jangmi feels a sense of loss over leaving her culture, language, and homeland behind. The story ends optimistically as Jangmi and her family are warmly welcomed into American culture with an impromptu party of neighbors bringing food and friendship to their new home in the US. Jangmi (which means Rose in Korean) is 8 years old, and her family is moving from Korea to Brighton Massachusetts in the United States.Behind her, she must leave her room and its furnishings, her willow tree, her friends, her extended family, and her home at 382 Shin Dang Dong. Tears run down her face as raindrops streak down the face of her old home. She must replace her Korean melons and raindrops for American honeydews and fog, her willow tree for a backyard maple one, her going away Korean dinner for a welcoming dinner of iced cakes and casseroles. Can a house without rice paper be made into a home? She is wise enough to retain her Korean name, and make a friend in this new place.I guess it will all work out okay. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
The Serious Kiss is a great book. I love all of the crazy characters in this book. It's about a girl named Libby that has a crazy family and her best friend and she had made a deal that they each would have a serious kiss before the end of the school year. But everything goes wrong when her family moves to the desert and she finds out that she has a grandmother that she thought was dead and they end up moving into a trailer park. Her grandmother had the trailer put right next to hers, which makes everything even worse. Her dad and her grandmother hadn't spoken to each other in 20 years and she doesn't fit in at her new school. Also, her family is different from other families. So if you love the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison I am positive you will like this book also.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!
I bought this book because I LUV the cover! It looks just like my dog, PeeWee. But, when I read it, I quickly saw that it's much more than a book about a dog. The story was so great, I read every night after I was supposed to be a sleep. It's totally REAL. Like real life. Awesome! Why aren't there more books like this?? I can't wait to read Mary Hagen's next book!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Brava!
