5-0 out of 5 stars Very good!
This book is so good. It is where 12 year-old Mary, and her 10-year old sister, Jean are on a ship, and one day the ship starts to sink, and as quick as they can, the take all the babies that they had babysat while on the ship, and get into a lifeboat, but then, right before the boat sinks, their lifeboat gets accidentally thrown into the water, it is just them and 4 babies, all alone in a lifeboat with only a few odds and ends, like a tarp, jerky, canned milk, a jug of water, and some sfety pins. After 5 days of sailing in their little lifeboat, theese corageous little girls land on an island. They make shelter and look all over for food. There are ALOT more twists in the book............ but I don't want to spoil the surprises for you. you wil just have to buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Super

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent preparation for big sister
I thought this book was great.I understand what previous reviewers are saying about the sister seeming to be ignored, but I think what we have to keep in mind is that she is probably not waiting as long as we think she is - the book is written from her perspective, not the parents'.If mom has to nurse for 1 more minute, it might seem like 30 to a two year old.And personally, I am not able to pour cereal while nursing so if my daughter wants some, she has to wait.
5-0 out of 5 stars Big Sister Now: A Story About Me and Our New Baby
My husband and I found out we would be having our second grandchild. We went in search of a great book to help our grandson, age three, deal with a new baby sister. We searched a lot of stores and found the best story in the book "Big Sister Now".Even though it was about a big sister, it was easy to have our grandson understand that big sisters and big brothers seem to have the same things happen to them. He now says that his friend Kate has a baby brother Daniel and he Nicholas. is having a baby sister How wonderful this made us feel.
5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST book for bringing a baby home I've seen!
"Big Sister Now" is on my list of "gotta haves" and "gotta give" to all friends and friends'kids who are bringing second and third and forth babies home to older sibblings. The story is so engaging, the senarios realistic. The character gives a voice and permission to older sibblings who may not know how to positively express what they're feeling. This book is sure to delight, educate and open doors of communication between parents and the older sibbling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny story
I love Robert Munsch and this is one of his books that the kids in my 2nd grade class loved the most!

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic Munsch
This is a good book for when bringing home baby.We bought it for our toddler as a fun way to explain that we are bringing him a baby brother from the hospital.

4-0 out of 5 stars Alligator Baby
I really liked this book, because it was funny.Kristen's parents kept bringing home animal babies from the zoo instead of a people baby.Kristen saved the day because she went to the zoo and got the right baby from the gorilla's cage. But it was funny at the end when all the mommy animals break into the house to get their babies back ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice
I started reading this book daily to my 18 month old daughter to help her prepare for the birth of her new baby brother. She seemed to understand it pretty well and adjusted easily to a new baby at 23 months.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I bought several books on this topic for my 3 year old and she likes this one the best.It has great pictures of a baby growing in the womb and simple explainations. The older sibling (a boy) feels the baby kick, goes to the Dr. with his mom and hears the baby's heartbeat and helps get out his baby clothes and toys for the new baby. Then his grandmother comes over to watch him while the mommy and daddy go to the hospital. He helps hold and bathe the baby and soothe her when she cries. My child asks for this over and over.

3-0 out of 5 stars A little too much for my 2 year old...
I read all of the reviews before ordering this book.It arrived today and I feel is a little too graphic for my two-year old son.It is a very informative book, however, I feel the information concerning how the egg is fertilized and how the baby is growing every few weeks is unnecessary for a toddler. We will be returning this book ASAP and choosing another. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars BEST FOR THOSE APPREHENSIVE ABOUT SCHOOL
OUR PRE-SCHOOLER IS SO OUTGOING, THIS BOOK DIDN'T STRIKE A CHORD W/ HER & SHE NEVER WANTED IT READ A 2ND TIME.SHE DID LOVE THE COOKIE PAGE THOUGH.LAUREN CHILD IS VERY FUNNY, BUT OUR FAVORITE IS 'I AM NOT SLEEPY...'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing but love for Charlie and Lola!
My kids both love Charlie and Lola!I have only recently discovered them, but found this book just before my daughter started kindergarten. This book looks at some of the things that kids will worry about when they start school (especially for the first time, but also as it turns out for starting a new grade!) and helps ease many of those worries in a way that is gentle and humorous.I love how gentle and easy-going Charlie is with his little sister, and how refreshing it is to see a sister and brother pair who genuinely love each other and even when they're frustrated with each other, they manage to work it out.My daughter and her little brother will have richer lives for this series of books.I can't recommend them highly enough!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVE Lauren Child
I have recently discovered the Charlie and Lola Lauren Child books and I (and my kids) can't get enough of them. The relationship between brother and sister is gorgeous, and the insight into a small girl's mind is spot on.The Language and phrasing is something that all kids can identify with. When I read these books all my children (12, 10, 6 and 5) stop and listen. This one is particularly entertaining as it contains Lola's imaginary friend Soren Lorenson.Amazing illustrations and wonderful story. ... What should one eat for breakfast?Ask Ruby, wise for her seven years. But three year old Max doesn't want to eat healthy - bring on the ice cream!Anyone who has dealt with headstrong toddlers can relate to Ruby's woes. While Rosemary Wells never shows the parents of these delightful bunny siblings, their sweet, indulgent Grandma appears as Max's partner in crime. The Max and Ruby books are such a hit in our house that my 3.5-year-old daughter renamed her younger sister "Max"- and she answers to it!While we saw this particular story first on TV's Nick Jr., both my girls request the book version over and over.I also recommend the new book Ruby's Tea for Two. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A dear, sweet look at the difficulty of having a new sibling
Katharine Holabird's "Angelina's Baby Sister" follows in the tradition of all the other Angelina Mouseling books.Angelina Mouseling is a small white mouse--perhaps somewhere between six and ten years old in people years--who has the complete attention of her parents and grandparents no matter what. Then one day, her mother has a baby! The new baby sister, Polly, is adorable and Angelina tries very, very hard to be interested and attentive and loving. But it's tough. No one is much paying attention to Angelina now that Polly's here, and that's especially upsetting to Angelina because she's recently been given an award at dance class.4-0 out of 5 stars Very cute!
In this next book in the Angelina Ballerina series, Angelina can hardly await the arrival of her mom's new baby. However, when the baby arrives, she finds that the baby is now the center of everyone's attention. Wracked with jealousy, Angelina has a lesson to learn...5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Gift Idea
Someone gave my 3 year old daughter this book when we had a new baby.Angelina has a hard time sharing the spotlight, and her family's time with the new addition. So did my daughter! But, reading this book with her gave us some "cuddle time" and helped us deal with incorporating a new and demanding member of the family!I've given this book as a gift many times since! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A monkey brother
Now I don't know about you but I love the Junie B. Jones series. The book I just read was Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business by Barbara Parks. It is about Junie B. when she goes through a lot of explaining to do with her parents, teachers, and her principle because she thinks her little brother is a monkey! Her best friends Lucielle and Grace give her all their stuff just to see her brother Oliver to see if he really is a monkey. This is a really good and funny book and I would highly recommend it to kids who like humor!

4-0 out of 5 stars Monkey Spectacular
Do you like babies?Do you like baby monkeys?Well, I bet you will after reading this book.I gave it four stars because Junie B.pronounces some words wrong and if your a good reader it might mess you up.That is my only concern.Other than that the book is GREAT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hillariosly, FunnyBook
This book is about a 5 year old who is getting a new baby brother or sister. Her mom told her she has a present for her, so Junie B. looks under the table for it. Then,on the next day the baby is born and Grandma comes home and says he is the cutest little monkey ever.Is he a real live monkey? That's for me to know and for you to find out.I think this book is funny,so funny i couldn't put it down. This book is funny because,of the words she uses, like dumb bunny baby.I reccomend this book to ALL ages, bacuse it is a good literature for all ages. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOOK EVER!
My mother read this book to me many, many times in preparation for my little sister's birth.I still think of it every time my sister (now 25 years old) gets on my nerves. It really taught me that, even though she could be annoying, that we both truly loved each other and could depend on each other no matter what...If you have a daughter and are expecting another one soon, you have to get this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars a story for all sisters
I remember checking this book out of the library when I was 6, and thinking that this story must have been written for me and my little sister. We even looked like the girls in the book! 5-0 out of 5 stars Good description of family changes
As one might expect from a book authored by Fred Rogers, this is a sensitive and frank account of changes a familyundergoes with the arrival of a newborn.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Discussing a Sibling's Feelings Toward a New Baby
The New Baby is a book that discusses the feelings that older siblings can have toward a new baby.In the typically simple, direct style that Mr. Rogers uses on Mister Roger's Neighborhood, Fred Rogers helps a child understand that both the baby and he/she are special. He also offers the assurance that parents have enough love for every child in the family.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Colorful Splash of Laughter!
My daughters - a preschooler and a toddler - gravitate to Max and Ruby like magnets. The board book Ruby's Rainy Day proved no exception.Shiny foil raindrops splash across the book cover.Lively rainbow colors brighten the ten sturdy pages inside. The story itself is an abridged version of a comical episode on TV's Nickelodeon.Little brother Max wants to go outside to play "Baseball!" Big sister Ruby insists they both don layer after layer of rain gear first.Your child can learn colors while laughing at the antics of these lovable rabbits.

5-0 out of 5 stars My little boy loves it.
Maybe it's the sparkly raindrops, maybe it's the vibrant colors, or maybe it's the size... at 7 months of age it's hard to tell what it is my little boy loves about this book. One thing's for sure, he loves it!When he's old enough I expect the repetition in the dialogue will be a winner and the themes featuring color and sequence will keep him fascinated.Me, I love the little joke at the end and of course watching his delight in this book. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Detention center
I gave the book Chu Ju's house written by Gloria Whelan a four star rating because it was well written, had good descriptions, and was quite interesting. Sometimes in this book it jumped from one subject to another which confused me and left me hanging. I didn't like the book at the end because it did not describe what happened to the main character Chu Ju and it was very awkward it did not describe how she felt about being successful and living on her on for many years and working to raise money to live on her own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worthy of your time AND money
Gloria Whelan, author of The Island Trilogy and Homeless Bird, follows through with the superb story of a young girl named Chu Ju who must flee from her family's home so that her baby sister may have life. This is a touching account of the sad reality of female experiences in a society where males are prized and females are denigrated. Though this is a book with a female protagonist, this is a book that appeals equally to both boys and girls. Although some of the relationships featured in the book seem hyperbolized and farfetched, the truthful actuality of the matter is that there are many instances where girls are treated even worse.
4-0 out of 5 stars Chu Ju's house this is one level higher than ok

4-0 out of 5 stars some out-dated ideas, but still valuable
My two-and-a-half-year-old son enjoys this book. Yes, it does leave a lot of aspects out, but it's a short story, just long enough for a young child to sit and listen to. If you are OK with some stereotyping then go ahead and get this book. I have made sure to explain to my son that these are some out-dated ideas and things are different nowadays!

4-0 out of 5 stars This book is good for small children.
This is book is good for small children, who need to understand how a new baby will change their life without being saddled with details on labor, delivery and pregnancy. To those who expect more, get another book... this one was written in the early 80s, when such things were as openly discussed as they are now. Most fathers didnt go into the delivery room at the time. Besides, they're BEARS not people. Also, to the people who find the gender-role things askew, come on... again, this was not written in this decade... yes it is dated, but I personally don't WANT my kids reading a whole lot of details on the process. Last, some complain that the child would have to be stupid to not notice mama's changing shape... not necessarily. A very small child would only notice such a thing when it effects them (hence mama's lap getting too small).

1-0 out of 5 stars So disappointed!
As a lover of Berenstain Bears books since I was a small child, I was horrified to read this book! All the other reviews capture all that is wrong with this book. We have relied on the Berenstain Bears to get through to our 5 year old for years, so I trusted that this book would help explain a new addition to our family. I could not have been more wrong! It turned into a discussion on all that was wrong with the book- Very confusing for a child. The Berenstains should SERIOUSLY consider rewriting this book as a service to their loyal fans. I must say, this book is atypical and the rest of the series is FABULOUS! ... Read more

As with all Little Critter books...this one had a wonderful story.
4-0 out of 5 stars Just me and my little brother
I like this book because i love how he dreams of all these different things he can do with his little brother when he gets older. I was like that when i was littler too. And now i have a little brother too. And i love him so much. Im thankful to have him as a brother.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Just Me and My Little Sister."
"Just My Little Sister, and Me" is about a thing called the little critter. He has a selection of book. But this particular book is about "Little Critter" wanting to hang out with his little sister. So he takes her to the park because his mom is busy. After that he is having fun with his little sister even though it isn't particularly fun doing what he is doing but just because he is doing it with his sister he is having fun.I think this book is a good book. This book is good for the ages of 4~10.This book teaches kids not to take their siblings for granted. ... Read more
