Rural Africa
This book is part of the Eyewirness Books collection.It has a table of contents and index which is useful to readers looking for specific information.It contains informational introductions and many colorful photographs with detailded captions.Africa is broken into twenty-eight sections with headings such as home life ans self-adornment.This book covers everything from a step-by-step process of how they build their homes to what they use for eating, their daily lives, clothes, and entertainment. If I only had these books when I was a kid!
When I was in Elem.School (I'm 42 now!)and had to do any type of research for school projects the only avenue available was (in most cases) out dated materals in my local library. If the "Eyewitness Books" series (64 Photo Study Books) was available I would have made much better grades!With topics from "AFRICA" to "WHALES" this set of studyaides give a true color photo study of the subject chosen. In this book"AFRICA" we see photos of a detail and quality found only incurrent copies of National Geographic. It will help any child discover thetraditional lifestyles, beliefs, skills & crafts of the people ofancient Africa. Great for kids and adults alike
I especially like this as a quick review of the presidents.My daughter got this book as a gift for her 7th birthday although I had actually read it to her once before when she was 6.Even her sister listened to me read it when she was around 4 or 5.This book makes it easy to get your kids interested in the presidents with its concise captions and short synopses of each president.For example, my daughters really like the part about Teddy Roosevelt having teddy bears created in his honor, looking at George Washington's false teeth, and trying to recognize the presidents on our currency.

An illustrated journey from Washington to Clinton
I got really excited for a moment when I say that this DK Eyewitness Book on the "Presidents" was written by James Barber, because I thought this would be James David Barber, the reknown Presidential scholar.Instead it turns out to be James G. Barber, who does a nice job of bringing out the details for all of the Presidents from Washington to Clinton.The book talks about Clinton's impeachment but does not get as far as the 2000 election (the year the book was published).Read more

Not as fun as the other 'I Spy' books.
If you loved the other 'I Spy' series, you'll be disapointed in 'Super Challenge.'All photographs are repeats of other books with new objects to find.Not very fun or challenging if you've seen the other books.I recommend skipping this book and getting the others in the same series. ... Read more

Engaging and Fun
The photography in the book is amazing. Every picture is eye-catching and fun to search through because of all the cool little objects. My three-year old has become obsessed with this book; the utter delight on his face when he finally found the objects and the pride he takes in now being able to pick them out quickly are absolutely adorable! Some of the little figures are also reused in the differnt pictures so even though he now knows where all the figures are he still makes new discoveries when he finds the reused figures and takes great delight in comparing them.

beautifully presented photos and drawings
The DK series of eyewitness books are all fabulous, but this has to be my favorite. Dinosaurs are always appealing to children and adults and this book is no disappointment. Superb studio-quality, well lit photographs give you close-up shots of teeth and bones so real, you'll feel like they're right there for you to touch and pick up. Great DINOsaur book...
I appreciate this book because it gives you drawings and paintings of how prehistoric creatures lived millions of years ago. It gives a perfect understanding of the study and also art ofPaleontology. Eyewitness is strongest in the biological sciences...

Glossy, thin and large two
As with the other "Eyewitness" books on various subjects, this book is also endowded with outstanding photography. The information is still minimal and based on the more popular material most folks are familiar with with the Native American. A good starter book for the yonger reader looking for some information on our American Natives............

A Detailed, Beutiful Book
North American Indian, a part of the Eyewitness Books series, is an excellent book. On each page, there are four or five stunning pictures with captions that explain the different elements of the pictures perfectly. The book includes descriptons of all sorts of different aspects of a NorthAmerican Indian's life. Very detailed, will engage your kid for hours
Although the book is a slim 64 pages, it is chocked full of information, interesting details and pictures.There are 3-5 photos on each page each with a short explanatory paragraph.They detail every aspect of submarines, including historical development, technology, the people involved, war tactics, and life on the boat.Your son (boys are the primary audience for this book) can skip around in this book and just stop and read whatever bits interest him at the time.For example, on a recent plane trip, my son got interested in the section about food prepared in submarines, examining the pictures to see what the crew were eating.He pointed out one photo where the cook (on a Russian sub) was spooning out fish eggs on an appetizer. This is a good book for traveling as it can be picked up and put down without disturbing a narrative and requires no ramping up of concentration since the many pictures automatically attract the reader's attention.It's good for a few hours of distraction and fairly light weight for a large-format hardcover.

Kids will be intrigued by the story of the Titanic's voyage and how it sank. The photographs and illustrations do a great job of visually showing the story. This is a great reading book for second and third graders.
Great Titanic Book Young Readers
I purchased this book for my son in second grade who iscaptivated by the tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic and this book was perfect for his reading level and probably younger readers too. He has watched several movies about the Titanic and he took this book into school today to share with his class. It gives a very good account of the facts and brings the reader forward to it's dsicovery in the 1980's. It is a good book for the kids to read to themselves or for parents to read to them. I liked it myself.

My daughter LOVES this book
My 8-year-old daughter has literally memorized this book.I think what's so engaging are the quirky facts and the way they're presented.She has now asked me to get her any books I come across by Kenneth Davis.What more can you ask for: a book that is so educational but one that kids will read over and over, all of their own initiative.

A hilarious, informative history book
This is an educational book that tells you about the presidents in a fun way. It gives interesting facts about their lives; like,for example, did you know George Washington's dentures were made of elephant and walrus tusks, cow, hippo, and even human teeth?! This book includes important dates, events, and timelines. Great illustrations. I would highly recommend you read this book for knowledge, and a few laughs!

Incredibly interesting, but contains factual errors
On a certain page of "Matter" a callout next to a picture of a glass lens states that "glass flows over time".This is a widely believed myth that is simply not true.The "evidence" for the liquid nature of glass comes from old church and cathedral windows that appear to be thicker at the bottom as the glass has flowed over the centuries.This is not the case.Here is why they are thicker at the bottom:
