Great ending!!!!!!!!!
This book was absouluely wonderful and a great ending!!!!!!!! What else can I say??? I loved it! READ IT

A Fitting End!
As I read this, I could tell this was an entirely different chapter in the Baudelaire's lives than we'd previously been exposed to. Lemony Snicket made it rather clear that the questions we wanted answered wouldn't be answered and it would do no good to answer them. Though slightly disappointing, I think we're better off for it. This book drives the message of the entire series home, and is in so many ways an allegory to what we experience every day. I thought this book was more emotional and better written than all of the other books combined, and was pleased with the couple of things we DID find out, even though there are a million other questions left unanswered. To answer these questions would be to ruin this series and the entire point of these books, and though we thirst for answers, the truth is that answers to these questions would be disappointing and more mysterious than what we're left with.

Looking forward to the next one...
There are some very interesting tidbits in this volume that clearly affect how I look at parts of the series and how the final book will turn out.This book made me look forward to the next one in the series.In the meantime I got two books in a new series - Why Some Cats are Rascals.Great reading!.

Collector's item or valuable clues?
If there's anyone on your gift list unlucky enough to own the entire series of unfortunate events, you may wish to inflict further adversity upon them by purchasing this additional volume for their collection.Not so much a book as a mystery contained between hard covers, this most attractively presented publication contains two folders, one with a large two-sided poster filled with clues, and a notebook containing correspondence exchanged between a guy named Lemony Snicket and what seems to be two people named Beatrice Baudelaire, one of whom claims to be a fourth Baudelaire sibling.The letters begin before The Bad Beginning and end sometime after The End.
Uh huh, Foggy Bottom used to refer to the State Dept.
Can this book be used as evidence in a court of law? IMO thats where this book is headed. The lawsuits are about to fly, the schism is expanding and soon there will be a lot of wealthy writers and entertainment stars weeping.

A Series of Unfortunate Events
The Books a Series of Unfortunate Events are fun books to read. Even though they have sad things happen in them, I like to read them because they are adventurous and you never know what will happen next. An example of how I never know what will happen next is in the Austere Academy. I couldn't find out what Olaf's plan was until it happened. Lemony Snicket writes the Series of Unfortunate Events. The main characters are Violet, Klaus, Sunny, and Count Olaf. In the books a Series of Unfortunate Events Violet, Klaus, and Sunny's home has burned down killing their parents. Now Count Olaf is trying to steal the children's enormous fortune but luckily he always fails. So, if you are looking for adventurous books to read, The Series of Unfortunate Events is right for you.

A series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket, is about 3 orphans living in a mischief life with a tragedy story of bad luck in thier lives. It begins with a story that the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, that will never forget forever. While these children are at the beach, a friend of there's, Mr. Poe, comes to tell the Unfortunate news, their parent died in a fire. As Mr. Poe found a distance family, he found a strange , cruel, tall Count Olaf. And the Unfortunate begins.
Great Series

Ahem. Has anyone noticed that one of the one-star reviews for this book burns Lemony Snicket and William Shakespeare at the same time? If I was you, L.S., be honored! "Oh, gee, you're categorizing me in the same place as one of the most revered and adored authors of all time?!! I think I'll take that as a compliment!" This book is the second best in the series so far, after The Slippery Slope.

Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire are at Briny Beach one day when Mr. Poe, a friend of their parents, arrives to tell them that their house has burned down, and that their parents have died in the fire. They now have become orphans. The orphans live with Mr. Poe until he can find a guardian for them. He finally places them with their nearest relative, Count Olaf, who is either their third cousin four times remove.Count Olaf, a dirty man with one eyebrow, shiny eyes, and a tattoo of an eye on his ankle, turns out to be a greedy and mean actor who wants the huge Baudelaire fortune for himself. When he finds that he will not receive it, he treats the children poorly and forces them to do difficult chores for himself and his acting group.
Bad beginning but exciting story.
I read this book because a friend of mine recommended. In first part I was so bored that I almost slept. Then when I tried to sleep an exciting scene came out. It was a eye-opener. It was about that Count Olaf was yelling at Baudelaires. They cooked, but olaf hated it. In first part I thought that olaf was a good man. That's why it woke me up. Another thing is that the pictures seemed very good and real. Even though they were black and white I liked it.

A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket is a great, yet surprising book. In this book, there are three children named Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire. They are the main characters, or the protagonists. Violet, the oldest likes to invent and build thing, she is very smart. Klaus, who is the middle child is also very smart and likes to examine creatures in tide pools and also likes to read. Sunny, who is only an infant loves to bite anything she can get her hands on. The problem starts out, when they figure out their house has burned down, and their parents have died. The Baudelaire family is very wealthy and they lived in a mansion with a huge library. Violet, Klaus and sunny have to stay at Mr. Poe's house, who is a very good friend of their parents. The children decide they do not like it there and learn that they are leaving and staying with their distant relative named Count Olaf. Count Olaf is the enemy or the antagonist in this story, who they have never heard of. When they arrive at his house, it looked very strange and bent out of shape. Also when they met him he acted very weird as if he was hiding something. He made them do all of the chores and make dinner for him and for when all his friends come over to rehearse lines for their play. They children started getting suspicious, when Count Olaf slaps Klaus on the face and one of his friends mention he should try to steal their fortune. The children try to tell Mr. Poe, but he does not believe that Count olaf would do such a thing. Since he won't believe them, they do a little research and find out that you can only get someone's fortune by marriage. Not to long after, Count Olaf suggests that they should be in a play with him, and violet would be the bride, and Klaus and Sunny would work backstage. Now I can't tell what happens next, so you will just have to read this book, put together the clues, and figure it out for yourself. I suggest this book, because I thought it was very good, and I was never bored. I actually read it in one day. It also has a good lesson to it, which is to be thankful for what you have, because when you least expect it, you could have nothing. ... Read more

Great fun,for the readers rather than the characters.
The Bauldalaire children are likeable,intelligent protagonists,but since their parents died in a horrible fire,their lives have been filled with misery and despair.The first installments in the series tell about their visits with three eccentric gaurdians(Uncle Monty,Aunt Josephine,and the wicked Count Olaf).Lemony Snicket is a mysterious and engaging narrator who dedicates each book to his lost love Beatrice (who seems to have died in a fire).This darkly humorous,wickedly entertaining series will appeal to children who enjoy the works of Roald Dahl (JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, MATILDA etc.)Like the children in Dahl's books, the Bauldalaires are surrounded by dimwitted adults,who believe nothing the kids say.This is an atmospheric,exciting series that will stretch reader's imagination while it enriches their vocabulary.

Okay, okay. Not the same old book that has all happy cheerful stuff thrown throughout a story. The Baudelaires' lives are full of misfortune, unluckiness, all that bad stuff.

GREAT!
I thought these books, just like the others, were amazing! They added plot and depth and mystery to the storyline and put me on the edge of my seat! I can't wait for the next books!

The Gloom Loons... FOR REAL!!!
"The Trouble Begins" was wonderful. "The Situation Worsens" was okay. "The Dillemma Deepens" were dull but interesting. THIS???????? It's a disgrace!!! I could put up with Lemony Snicket's talking for a while but this is insane!! I had to skip whole pages just to keep awake!? I mean WHO, WHO with the right mind wants definitions, stupid stories and lectures in an ADVENTURE BOOK!? But not just that, it becoming SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!! At first, the Series of Unfortunate Events was wonderful, full of adventure and mystery and exiting parts. Now, what I see is count olaf giving up on the children and the children going with a STUPID organization and DULLL characters and etc. and etc. and etc. I was so disssapointed with "The grim grotto" that I don't want to even see a page of "The Penulitamate Peril" that is the hardest to say. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY OR EXITEMENT FOR THIS PIECE OF JUNK, IF YOU LIKED THE BAD BEGGINNING, THE WIDE WINDOW, OR EVEN THE DULL MISERABLE MILL, THIS IS NOT THE SEQUEL FOR YOU. AS I SAID THE GLOOM REALLY LOOMS!!!

"Rraww," growled the prowling lions in this book, The Carnivorous Carnival. When this book begins, Violet, Sunny and Klaus are trapped in Count Olaf's car trunk as they go to Madam Lulu's carnival. At the carnival, it is weird. The Baudelaires worked at the House of Freaks, where people make fun of them.Also there were deadly lions there too, which ate people, a dangerous roller coaster, andMadam Lulu's strange crystal ball. Eventually Count Olaf decide to put the House of Freaks in the lion's den.The other freaks must fight the Baudelaires. None of the freaks falls into the lion's den.The Baudelaires barely escape, but with Count Olaf. I'd recommend this book because it is suspenseful, humorous and has interesting characters.

Here is the ninth volume in Lemony Snicket's bestselling children's collection A Series of Unfortunate Events. Evidently not even Roald Dahl could resist the acronym craze of the early eighties. BFG? Bellowing ferret-faced golfer? Backstabbing fairy godmother? Oh, oh ... Big Friendly Giant! This BFG doesn't seem all that F at first as he creeps down a London street, snatches little Sophie out of her bed, and bounds away with her to giant land. And he's not really all that B when compared with his evil, carnivorous brethren, who bully him for being such an oddball runt. After all, he eats only disgusting snozzcumbers, and while the other Gs are snacking on little boys and girls, he's blowing happy dreams in through their windows. AMAZING! For fans of Roald Dahl.
In England an orphan girl named Sophie couldn't sleep.At this time of night people called it the Witching Hour.They called it the Witching Hour because everyone is in a deep-deep sleep. Sophie sees a TALL DARK figure coming down the wrong side of the road.You have to READ the rest of the book.I enjoy it because its's funny and exciting.

The BFG Review
The BFG is a fictional chldren's book. It was written by Roald Dahl and it was published in 1982. Roald Dahl is a great author and he has written other children's books such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. A Great Bedtime Story for Kids and Adults Alike
I remember reading this book several years ago and reading it on the bus and at school and before I went to bed. It brought me back to my childhood and the creativity and imagination I had as a child, and I'm sure several readers felt the same way. Charming adventure story
The story (and series) centers on a family of four orphaned siblings, 14 year-old Henry, 12 year-old Jessie, 10 year-old Violet and 5 year-old Benny.The four have runaway and are attempting to live on their own in order to avoid being split up or sent to live with their mean grandfather.They locate an abandoned boxcar in the woods and set up housekeeping there.They manage quite well until Violet falls ill causing them to ask the local doctor for all.In the end though all is well.
So simple and so wonderful!
These books are wonderful. My son who loves sci-fi, dragons and lego, thinks these wonderful books are AWESOME! They capture his attention like no others. As I read these to aloud to him, he laughs, asks questions and wishes he could be there. Although the writing is very simple, the ideas behind them are not. When I first started reading this series to him he said to me,"Mom while you are reading I always feel like I am there with the children doing what they are doing." "YEAH!" Great stories about children who are THINKING and I love my son to want to emulate that!

If I were king of the forest...
I used to like these books. Now I think they are stupid. Especially Benny. He is so stupid. And he's really annoying. There has to be at least five billion books in the series. Anyone that has all of the books in the series must really, really, really, really, really love them. Why do they call their grandfather "Grandfather"? Violet's like "Oh Grandfather! You can have all of my internal organs if you want." Then Benny's like "What's green?" Then their Grandfather is always taking them on these pointless trips for no reason whatsoever. You would think that they would either run out of places to go or get tired of going on the trips. I would be suprised if they had a week at home in one year. Why do they call them the Boxcar Children? In some books they probobly don't even have the word boxcar in some of the books. Don't they ever go to school? Acually I wouldn't be suprised if Benny didn't go to school considering he's so stupid and annoying. They are so cheesy. No family gets along that well and never fights. If there was a family like that it would be a miracle. And I'm talking about ones with more than one child. And nobody has that perfect of a life. I bet they never had one problem or something bad happening to them in the hole series. If I never liked these books then I would have given this series one star. ... Read more

Not Under 13, But Whatever This is a great read
This book only received four stars because on its own it's not spectacular, but as an extension of the Bloody Jack series it does hold its own. This book is a good follow-up to the other Bloody Jack books.It's not the most rollicking tale of the bunch, but gives readers a more subtle adventure.Although I found the the main body of the book a tad tedious, I still enjoyed it as a whole.Jacky's colorful cahracter carries the story along when it starts to drag, as do the personalities of the other girls.One of my favorite parts of the book is when Jacky tells stories of her life on the streets in London.It gives you a better glimpse at her past and how far she has come from the little beggar of her childhood.I will warn you though, the ending is a killer cliff-hanger.

Once again, Jacky Faber kicks pirate booty...
I am a huge fan of the Jacky Faber series -- just like everyone else who has discovered these awesome books by L.A. Meyer. I've read every one of Meyer's previous books, and loved all of them. Each time, I figured there was absolutely no way he could top the previous one. And each time, I'm stunned to find that he has. 'In the Belly of the Bloodhound' is no different. Once again, Meyer has written a heck of a story that's even better than his last. Like all the others, 'In the Belly of the Bloodhound' was an incredibly fast read -- a book that I could not put down. It's entertaining and definitely won't put you to sleep like some other 'teen' books assigned in school. I have no doubt that this book is headed for a blockbuster movie, once Hollywood discovers Jacky Faber. I'm sure actresses will be lining up to play her. In the meantime, I'm hoping L.A. Meyer is back home writing his next pirate tale. Aye, Cap'n, he's good as gold.

Misfortune Comes Again
This book might be one of the most important books of the series so far. Why? Well, first of all it is the last book in the series that Mr. Poe (see book 1) sends the baudelaires to another guardian. Everyone figures out that there really is a Count Olaf (who is the bad guy). To try to get away from Count Olaf the Baudelaire's have to live in a village that is ruled by a bunch of old people and do chores for everybody in the village. They stay at their friend Hector's house (the janitor of the town) and stumble upon a poem by Isadora Quagmire who is an old friend of the baudeliares and has a great fortune too. The baudelaires found out that Count Olaf hid her and her brothers in the same town. The council members catch Count Olaf but it's not really him he just looks like Count Olaf. Now the Baudelaire's have to find their friends and make sure the fake Count Olaf (who is totally innocent) doesn't get burned at the stake. During the story the Baudelaire children get accused of killing the fake Count Olaf and they are to be burned at the stake. Will they be sent to their death in roaring flames or will they escape? You will have to read to find out.

Series of Unfortunate Events The MIserable Mill
In this book there are three very smart children who have been trying to get away for this guy named Count Olaf.Count Olaf is a very mean person who is always in disguise and trying to get closer to the orphans to steal their fortune.At the beginning of the book the children are forced to work at the Mill.Then Klaus fell and broke his glasses so then he had to go to the eye doctor to get a new pair.He didn't come back for a long time and Violet and Sunny were getting worried. He came back acting all weird and they new that Count Olaf was near. I really like this book because its not like the rest of the books it has a great ending.

a delitful miserable story
The Baudelaire children are on a new adventure, going to yet a new house with another new caretaker. For every time they have to run from Count Loaf's mischievous plans. Count Loaf is a horrible man with horrible assistants and horrible disguises. He is after the Baudelaire orphans left owner money from their parents' fatal accident. In Lemony Snicket's Series of unfortunate Events, The Miserable Mill, these children Claus the reader, sunny the biter & Violet the inventor have to work at a miserable mill to line. Their new caretaker does not care much for them and makes them work very hard. In return for their work, he will protect them form that Mischievous count Loaf.
A Scary Book
You really feel sorry for the children. Life in the mill is just miserable. You can't put the book down... you just gotta find out what happens next. ... Read more
