critique of pee wee scouts,pedal power
Im reading the book Pee Wee Scouts,Pedal Power by Judy Delton,it is a realistic -fiction book.I was reading the book and it wasn't that interesting at firstbut thenitstarted geting queer.I highlyreccomend this book to readers because its funny but kind of simple.This book is mostly about some scouts helping,doing,or saving people,but it getsmonotonous some times. I'm enjoying this book because its abouttheese scouts savig people and its fantastic for me because it tells people from good and bad. And there wasn'tnothig that I disliked.

Great book for teaching saftey and the importance of rules.
My 7 year old loved this book and the others we have read in this series. He can relate to many of the characters and likes that the kids which all have different interests can still play together even if they don't alwaysagree. Doesn't Go Far Enough...
While I really like this book and feel it explains well, I did need to mark it down a bit since I don't think that it emphasizes enough how kids should not pretend to use guns or stay away from them.The fact that this is only addressed on one page, versus the several pages of how a gun works, was disappointing.I'm not reading this to my sons so they know the difference between guns & how they work... and to get them excited about the concept of how a bullet can travel to the end of the block before they'd even take a step in a race... I'd rather find a book that will supplement the safety training we try to give our children about staying away from guns... not pretending to shoot people... etc...

Good teaching tool for elementary school-aged children...
As a Mass. State/NRA Firearms Instructor, I am always on the look out for books that I can recommend to my students.This book does a nice job of explaining in simple terms the operation and dangers of Firearms and ammunition. It also contrasts the difference between TV, pretend play, and real life.This book is well illustrated and is politically neutral.This a good book for parents that would like to discuss the subject of firearms with their children but don't really know where to begin.I would also recommend pairing it with a book by Massad Ayoob called Gun Proof Your Children / The Handgun Primer.

Kids love to point out all the naughty things that bear is doing!
My kids loved to have this book read to them again and again.They enjoyed pointing out all the naughty things that bear was doing.I think it also reinforced their belief that their own teddy bear ventured out and got into trouble when they were not looking!Now I am reading it to the grandkids and they are enjoying it just as much!This book is timeless!

My kids and I love this book
I got this out of the library two weeks ago, and my two children, ages 4 and 2, have made me read it to them at least twice a day. They really like the story of the boy who goes for a bike ride and brings along his teddy bear.However, the teddy turns into a real bear who definately does not follow the rules of the road.We all laugh at the scenes of the boy acting sensibly (stopping when others are walking in front of him, maneuvering around garbage cans and open car doors) and of the bear plowing ahead and into all of these things.It's sweet and funny, and can also double as a safety lesson for beginner bicycle riders. ... Non-threatening way to teach caution about strangers.
This book was wonderful.Talking to children about strangers can bedifficult.You want them to be cautious but don't want to frighten them. How do you tell them that not all strangers are bad and still warn themthat some are dangerous?Get this book - it is a great, non-threateningway to teach your children to be wary of strangers.Christopher Robinexplains to Pooh & Piglet that most strangers are nice but some aren't. Since you can't tell which are which, you never talk to any strangers. The best point, I thought, was how Christopher Robin explained thatstrangers are not people who looked strange but are people you don't know. It's Barney, but it IS fun for the kids
This book is what you would expect if you are familiar with Barney and company.The good news is it teaches your child(ren) about fire safety in a non-frightening way, while entertaining them.The best news is that you can do your own voices and you don't have to listen to B.J.!
