5-0 out of 5 stars very helpful applied statistical text
This is an extremely useful book to have on your shelf. It provides easy to understand, applied concepts in multivariate stats, covering regression, logistic, SEM, and more. I find the syntax examples in SAS and SPSS to be especially helpful. When appropriate it also points you in the direction of more advanced references. I use it all the time and have found it to be invaluable.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favourite statistics book
Using multivariate statistics is my favourite statistics book, and possibly my favourite textbook. This book is so clearly and simply written that it has made me comfortable tackling multivariate problems.
5-0 out of 5 stars Putting the 't' back into statistics ...
There's a reason why some students leave out the first and soften the second 't' in the word 'statistics'. Well, not if working with this book. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Condition
The book was in great condition and came in a matter of days. This was a good first online purchasing experience for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars difficult reading, but a must have for the MMPI
This book is not one you would ordinarily read cover-to-cover, but it is a must have for anyone who is using the MMPI.Greene is a MMPI genius and he knows the MMPI like no one else.I'm using his book more as a reference, and I'm using other books such as Butcher's to actually learn the MMPI.

4-0 out of 5 stars Exelent book
This is the best book I have read regarding the MMPI-2. It gives in depth coverage of almost all known scales available for the MMPI-2, and has all you need to learn to use the test. Codetypes are well explained, and presented in a systematic fashion. There are lots of infomration about codetypes which are useful in the case of juding the deegre to which the patient fits the particular codetype description. The book also includes several validityscales which are very usable to attain an in depth understanding of the response pattern of the test subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Introductory Research Book
Having previously purchased a required research textbook that was written in a truly "mind-numbing" fashion, I went online to find a supplemental text.I was looking for something to help me develop some background knowledge in order to better understand my assigned readings.I consider myself very lucky for having found "Exploring Research".The writing style is very straightforward.I was easily able to read the textbook within a few days, and this made understanding the assigned readings in my course textbook much easier to do.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best!
Regardless of what your research needs are, this books could be called "research for dummies" in its excellent and easy-to-follow explanations. Buy this book, even if your required text is something else - It's filled with examples and can be read like an adventure novel in bed WHILE being truly comprehended! I've taken statistics, research classes, etc. - I wished I had read this book along with my first class! There's nothing dry about this and 1000 words are too few to praise it adequately!

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive
One can read the pictures of a book to define the logic or knowledge in it. How? Look at the many different views. What scans through ones mind? The past. It did mine. Fifty dollars is just the beginning of an adventures enterance into the unknown. Have a great day! Norma ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
I have taught from this book in New Zealand and America. If your students are used to being spoon fed they may rebel at its complexity -- but if they are given proper guidance it will be useful first introduction and enduringly useful text for them.If you are graduating students with degrees in psychology and they cannot comprehend this book -- then their degree is not worth the paper it is printed on.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Student Reader
This text is much too complex for even an advanced undergraduate student. I found the chapters to be poorly organized, repetitious and over emphatical on small points, and vague on many important points. For a reader who has a good deal of previous exposure to behavior psychology, this may be a good text. For the majority of readers using this as a text to obtain an undergraduate degree without an emphisis on behavior, it is not. It seems to require quite a bit of previous exposure to behaviorist theories that most readers I have encountered do not have.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone serious about behavior.
This book is not for the faint of heart but is indispensable for anyone seriously into the field of behavior. In the animal training field it is one of the five top books that I and many other trainers recommend. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Understand
I found this book to be written in a way that is very easy to comprehend, and expresses the ideas clearly. The chapters are short and concise. This book is a great tool to use not only for classes, but to refer to in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars You cannot go wrong...
I have a son with autism, a wife who is a psychologist and I run a home ABA program as well as helping in my son's pre-school that is instituting an ABA progam. You cannot go wrong with this book. The fact that this book is in it's 8th edition and is used by many college programs speaks to it's strengths.I did read the one dissenting review where it lowered someone's GPA because they did not understand or test well on the material.ABA is deceptive. While it is the just the science of good learning there is a lot of skill and aptitude needed.Being a member of T.O.P.S., Intertel, Mensa, the International High IQ society to name a few I can see that this is not for everyone. Some people are good at being students, some people are good at understanding and implementing good science; with ABA you need to be in the latter group. If you want a good starting/comprehensive book with a lot of meat on the bone this is the one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, but terribly REDUNDANT!
As a psychology student, I encounted this book in a behavioral modification course.I was not overly impressed by it, but it does have it's usefulness.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you think you know all about sex, think again!
I had to use this textbook when I took Dr King's Psychology class at the University of New Orleans (Spring '06). I found it to be a very informative eye-opener. Dr King presents information in a clear, concise, just-the-facts way, yet it doesn't read like a 'boring old textbook.' The information really makes the reader think twice about the West's cultural, historical, and scientific perspectives on the nature of sexuality.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book and Great Class!
I recently had Dr. King's class at the University of New Orleans during the Spring semester of 05, his class is the best! I enjoyed every minute of sitting through his lectures! He's is a great professor and a great writer! Keep up the good work!

4-0 out of 5 stars Guthrie Review, Ryan Stettenbenz
Guthrie Synopsis
4-0 out of 5 stars Enlightening...
Even the Rat was White is educationally entertaining. It brings to light some of the historical and ridiculous lengths that even psychologist have gone to in an attempt to scientifically support racism. Guthrie points out how men of science are no less susceptible to the spirit of the times than their layman counter parts. The book goes to great length to describe the methods, experiments and altering of data used to support the then contemporary idea of white supremacy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Racially Based or Just the Facts?
One of the main discussions that I have noticed while glancing through the previous synopsizes on Even the Rat was White was that people tend to get the wrong idea while investing their time into this book. What I got out of the book, Even the Rat was White, was that Guthrie meant for it to be an informative book on the biases that existed among the psychologists from early on until the 20th century.Guthrie explains the procedures and the tests, mainly the IQ tests, which were used to find the intelligence of people, and how those tests helped pinpoint "logical," in the minds of the ones administering the tests, why the tests differed between the races.Guthrie never makes a claim that would suggest that his intentions of this book were anything but scientific. His information is base on facts and he has evidence to back up the fact that psychologist did somewhat racially profile people while constructing tests or giving credit to people for their studies and research. I believe that Guthrie is merely trying to point out the mistakes of the past so we, in the psychological field, are not doomed to repeat them. Some psychologists, such as Robert Bean, were too wrapped up in their own opinions and beliefs that the made their studies and findings agree with those bias beliefs. But, as I said only some of the psychologist altered tests while others tried to correct the "mistakes" or the intentional tweaking, Horace Mann Bond v. Robert Bean, so that psychology could grow into a respectable science in America.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for the sophomore Psych major
Outstanding book.I bought this for my daughter who, against my better judgement, chose to be a psychology major at Madison. Before I gave her the book, I read the whole thing.I'm not nearly as worried anymore. This book provides excellent overview to what can be accomplished with a Psych degree.
