Great!
This book was in good condition, and is very easy to follow.Recommended for anyone wanting to learn university level modern physics but not wanting to go cross-eyed or get lost!

A Classic
I purchased this classic work at MIT, circa 1972, and have referenced it too times to remember.When I bought it, the book was part of the M.I.T. INTRODUCTORY PHYSICS SERIES.It contains about everything one could wish for on the subject matter.The derived transformations for acceleration and force (i.e. of d(mv)/dt) have been especially useful, and are not often included in other books.It is truly a gem, created by a world class physics instructor at the top of his game.G.R.Dixon.

The only book you need to learn special relativity
"Special relativity" is discussed in many classical mechanics, electromagnetism and quantum / modern physics textbooks. You may learn different aspects of this subject from these books.

If you want to know Edison, you MUST see it.
I like to read his story because by this way I saw a lot of his successful experiments and magical inventions, I also saw his spirit of doing them.He never gave up and never feel sorry even when he knew that what hethought was wrong.he liked to find out the secrets of nature. Good but limited
As usual, Branley has presented science in a clear and very readable format.However, Day Light, Night Light has a limited content scope--natural and man-made sources of light and seeing objects fromreflected light.Other books in this "Let's read and find outscience" series have a much broader usability because of the excellentcontent which stretches their appropriateness higher than the reading levelof the text.I often look for books by Branley and others in this seriesfor my curriculum development work. ... Why bother?
I gave my phsyics teacher money for this book becuase i was forced into buying it. Very confusing but it explains what i need to know, i think. What is the point? How will i know if i am right or wrong and if i understand the book unless i have answers? Who would sell a math book without answers? I hear they have an answer book so i went to ask my physics teacher if i could buy it. He laughed and said it is only available for teachers. Well then why doesnt my teacher explain the answers or hand them out. I am also concerned that Prentice hall should distrubiute or sell the answer book to everyone. ... Read more

Colourful and helpful
This Advanced Level Physics book is one of the best I have seen. The book is divided into 7 themes (Mechanics, Materials, Fields, Waves, Electricity, Inside the Atom and Physics in Medicine). The physical concepts as well as the formulas involved are explained in plain text as well as on clearly labelled diagrams. An excellent stydy guide for A level students

New uses for old toys
My kids got tired of their toys. i got tired of buying them new ones. So I found this book and discovered through it....new uses for the toys they already had. It was like buying all new toys. I cannot recommend this book enough if you don't want to go out and buy new toys. And, it teaches kids the science behind the toys, which is an added benefit.

I bought this book at a bookstore and liked the content. It is a very easy to use book to use with children. I have used it with my kindergarten kids and my kids who are older at home. There are so many good ideas and concepts to learn that even we teachers can learn from it! I like the book very much...in fact so much that I am going toget this author'sother books through Amazon!

Science in Seconds with Toys

Incredibly interesting, but contains factual errors
On a certain page of "Matter" a callout next to a picture of a glass lens states that "glass flows over time".This is a widely believed myth that is simply not true.The "evidence" for the liquid nature of glass comes from old church and cathedral windows that appear to be thicker at the bottom as the glass has flowed over the centuries.This is not the case.Here is why they are thicker at the bottom:
