Freddy's back!!!!
Librarians coast to coast can breathe a sigh of relief. I can now return all of the grossly overdue books that I have acquired over the years while awaiting the long overdue return of that distinguished pig. Buy them, readthem, and even better, share them with your kids. He's one helluva pig.

This is another great adaptation of a classic story.Mary has a ham instead of a lamb.This ham is destined for showbiz, maybe in "Cinderswine".It has puns and jokes that will keep adults chuckling, but kids will like it, too.

Absolutely Fantastic
I was thrilled to see a book that teaches children about the value of money.It is extremely well written and the colorful illustrations kept my three year old nephew wanting to read more and more the book.

My 1 year old loves this book!!
While I wasn't crazy about this story when I first read itm, my 12 month old daughter loves it!! It's her favorite and she's always carrying it around the house for me to read with her.We don't read the story now, we just talk about each animal on the page--the illustrations are great!

Freddy goes to the north pole
I thaught that freddy goes to the north pole was a great book enjoyable for all ages. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes adventure stories. It is one of those books that you never wan't to end.

An Awkward Sequel
"Freddy goes to Florida" was an instant classic, so I can see why a sequel followed.Unfortunately, Brooks and Wiese have some trouble figuring out exactly how to handle it. Freddy the Pig meets Santa Claus

Brooks.The earlier books, while terrific for children, are not as entertaining for adults as the later books.The Freddy books are great moral instruction without ever being preachy, always entertaining.In this book, the Bean farm animals decide to visit the North Pole.They have adventures galore on the way and, at the Pole, help save Santa from some well-meaning pirates who are trying to bring efficiency to Santa's workshop. Sweet and entertaining

Quotations from best children's book series ever
This book was clearly a labor of love, both from Overlook Press and from the many Friends of Freddy (members of an organization devoted to supporting the books) who contributed to it. As Michael Cart points out in his introduction, it's something of a dream come true: the first new Freddy book in over forty years. The dustjacket is colorful but simple. Removing the dustjacket reveals a pleasant surprise: the front cover has a single illustration in the lower right corner, just as the original Freddy books did. a good book

Great for little ones!
We got this from the library when my daughter was 2 1/2 years old.It's easy for her to remember and "read" on her own.She loved it so much, I got tired of re-renting it, so decided to buy the whole set.I looked everywhere for them too.Thank Heaven for Amazon!

In the book Tales of Oliver Pig by Jean Van Leeuwen you could learn you don't always get what you want.The author is trying to teach us that little kids can't always do what big kids and grown ups can dol.And that is hard for little kids.
Preschooler Favorite
My five year old loves to have this story read to him.He thinks the parts with the little sister are very funny.I imagine that is the attraction, but for whatever reason he delights in hearing it over and over and over again.It is a very cute book and I have gotten him others in the series as well.I read it for "company" the other night (a three year old) and she must have enjoyed it as well because the next time she went to the library she asked her mom to check it out for her.I don't think you can go wrong for the preschool/kindergarten crowd. ... Freddy is superb!
Freddy is helping his old friend, Mr. Camphor, with a couple of problems. One of them is his aunts; one is too gloomy and another is just plain mean. In addition, Mr. EHA and the rats are planning to take the old hotel. Can Freddy help? This book is great and uses lots of humor. You must read this book!

greatest book of the greatest series

Freddy is back and just as ornery
Probably before you were born, the bookmobile would stop off at our school and I looked forward to reading "Freddy" books. I enjoyed all of his adventures and friends (Jinx had a few adventures of his own). Now those books are collector's items and rarely show up in used book stores. As much as I miss the originals he is back and just as ornery as ever. One Day I hope the earlier one will get republished. In the mean time Even thought these books are geared towards young ones, they still can hold the attention of old codgers.Read more

In this charming retelling of the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale, Wibbly the pig searches his garden for his favorite toy, Pigley. Wonderful Wibbly!!
I bought this book because my 2 yr old grandson fell in love with another Wibbly book called "Everyone Hide from Wibbly Pig".Although this one reminds me of Jack and the Bean Stalk, it's simple and fun.I think "Everyone Hide from Wibbly Pig" is the all time best, but this is certainly a wonderful follow-up to that.ALL of the Mick Inkpen books I've purchased for my grandson have been favorites that we have read so many times, my grandson can 'read' them to me because he knows them by heart!Your kids will love his books.

I don't recall reading Popinjay when I first discovered Freddy back in 1960 (or thereabouts), but I've just read the new Overlook Press 2001 reprint.This story features the familiar, lovable Freddy characters--and a few new ones--portraying a message that we all need to remember these days: Don't judge people by appearances.

Brooks was hitting his stride as a writer, and is one of the better Freddy books.A robin friend of Freddy's needs glasses, and from there the story gets wilder.The book is great fun and, as in all the Freddy books, has some lessons to impart to the reader, one of them being that conceit is not only a vice, but a rather silly one.This lesson is taught, as always, without a preachy tone intruding on the story. ... A great spoof with no moral
Four to eight year olds will love this Preston Pig book.We fell in love with it when my son was age 5.He adored reading about "Cunning Wolf Trick No.s 1,2, and 3" and still loves to recite them.An advanced picture book that doesn't talk down to kids or parents and is still fun to read.
