After that he meets a girl nammed green who ripes him off and bulbasuar evolves.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best manga around!
Pokemon Adventures is almost as good as Toshihiro Ono's manga, if not better in some parts.4-0 out of 5 stars Unexpected treasure
I wasn't expecting to like this series, especially as it is so close to both the television show AND the game, but this book made me laugh! I love it. I plan on buying as many Pokemon adventures as I can afford and the gang at Viz comics can put out. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unlike your Standard Pokemon Story
This manga is unlike the standard Pokemon story. We all know about the show where Ash meets somebody new, Team Rocket comes, etc. That's getting old! This manga is offering something new!
5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Adventures
This type of pokemon manga is my favorite because it's fun, it's clean, and it is enjoyable. Especially if you have played the original pokemon gameboy games, then you will get the most out of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!
This is the first one that I have read. It's really, really great.Instead of the usual Ash, Gary, Misty and Brock from the anime this book gives a whole new twist. The the hero being Red and his rival being Blue.In my opinion it's a whole lot than the anime. This manga is more non-childish and give the Pokemon world a whole new twist. Instead of like the anime where Ash gets a Pikachu, Red starts with a Poliwag which is actually a Poliwhirl.Red is more mature and so is Blue. The rivalry is actually intense.Blue actually has something to prove and his ego isn't that bad.The artwork is pretty good and so is the storyline.Instead of the slow moving pace in the anime, this book has a more quickened pace making you want more. All and all this is great.I would recommand everyone to buy it. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not a very up to date pokedex
This is not a very good pokedex to get over 2 stars. There is alot of informatation missing...especially if you are buying this book for breeding pokemon and finding pokemon. For instance it says you can't breed Ho-Oh (which you can't) but there are moves under the breedable moves list. Also it says you can catch GLIGAR in Pokemon Gold AND SILVER (you can NOT catch GLIGAR in the SIlVER version) on route 45. This pokedex is definetly NOT worth becoming dependant on if you are looking for acurate information.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is good
The book is really informative and everything but it doesn't have some things the blue and other ones had. Such as the animal type (cat or mouse etc.) I mean some of the new ones are pretty crazy looking. It shows you all the moves your dudes will learn and it has charts to show you the different moves there are and what they do and where you can find them.3-0 out of 5 stars Buy "Pokemon Master Pokedex" instead
If you are looking for a complete, easy-to-follow, well-organized Pokedex, buy "Pokemon Master Pokedex: Prima's Official Strategy Guide" instead. Prima's "Pokemon Master Pokedex" (which covers ALL Pokemon) and the "Pokemon Gold & Silver" Strategy Guide are much more complete and user-friendly than this "Gold & Silver" Pokedex (limited to just the new Pokemon), which, like Prima's "Pokemon Yellow" Strategy Guide, is visually eye-catching, but less complete and harder to follow than the other titles mentioned above. (Another reviewer writes that there is no map. Remember: this is a Pokedex, not a Strategy Guide that will take you step-by-step through the game.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
The previous reviewer must have been brain dead herself when she read the book. There is no other way she could have so completely misread this text. The authors are not opponents of Pokemon -- as if that was even the point. In excerpting the statements from Tobin about the "evil" empire of Pokemon, she completely misquotes him.He CLEARLY argues in his introduction that this represents one of the perspectives on Pokemon and then goes on to lay out other perspectives. In the chapter about anti-Pokemon websites, the author is describing the discourse of these websites, not advocating for them.In fact, the author describes these as "moral panics".A moral panic is a misplaced fear that sweeps a society. If this reviewer knew anything at all about the scholarship of the people represented in this book or about the language of cultural studies, she would realize that her reading of them as children's pop culture haters is absurd. I DO use chapters from this book in my children's media studies class exactly because it represents thoughtful and sophisticated scholarship. To look at the complicated ways the Pokemon as one representative of children's popular culture circulates both as part of the global economy and as part of the childhood identity economy, I recommend this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars A book for specialized tastes....
(This review is based on the old version of this book, before inclusion of Yellow information.)1-0 out of 5 stars Certainly the worst of all the Pokemon game guides.
Those accustomed with the Pokemon videogame franchise should at least know that there is a relatively measureless collection of guides to decide from, which basically means there's bound to be a few rotten apples in the group. To put it bluntly, buying a game guide from a small and rather pathetic publishing group made up of about five or six people, called "Gamebooks.com" isn't necessarily a wise choice if you happen to have a rather obsessed Pokemon fan friend/and or child that can't seem to get past battling a certain monster or trainer and could use a well-written walkthrough.1-0 out of 5 stars This book is outdated.
This book must have been written a long time ago, becuase it only has Pokemon #1-151 (Mew is spelled Myu) and only has information on the Red/Blue/Yellow versions. There are three versions that don't have guides, and they are the gold/silver/crystal. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A book deserving 4.25 stars
I think this is a great book. What this book contains:1-0 out of 5 stars Learn about a game before writing a book
Maybe authors should learn about a game before writing a strategy guide, that would certainly be a good idea. The people who wrote this knew nothing about the game. The section on happiness was absolutely stupid, most of the things listed there do not raise or lower happiness. They have proven they do not know anything about the mathematic values of the game, readily available through reverse engineering of a rom. The exact damage formula is not included (not that they would even know what it was), stat experience, what stat boosters REALLY do, etc. ... Read more

It's a fairly straight up retelling of the first season. The best part of the book has to be the Peekaboo Pikachu. Even though the contest ended in 2000, it's still fun too find Pikachu hiding in the illustrations.

dont listen to that wierd old lady the book and movie are great there arent anydrugs sure theyre triping but everyone trips its sopposed to be funny the stuck in a pipe thing is exactly as it it charizard was stuck in a pipe and his friends helped him out and the colors make it more attractive and cooler looking and it teaches kids about helping others in need not some drug thing geez people try to point out things that resemble bad things just to ruin everyone elses enjoyment of something.

1-0 out of 5 stars Parents: Protect your Children
Having made the mistake of showing this film to my 5 year old, I thought I would drop a quick caution to parents. Most of the Pokemon material available is completely safe; this film is not.It is obviously aimed at the drug-culture.I don't know if the creators of Pokemon were trying to integrate older children into the cartoon with this one, but the fact remains that there are subtle allusions to "tripping" throughout this film. The scene transitions had a sort of pulsing tie-dyed pattern that left me feeling ill, and there is one scene in which part of the foliage is obviously drawn to resemble one of those "pipe and bong" devices you used to see during the 60s.Avoid this movie. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Kudos to Takeshi Shudo!
I've watched the Japanese version of "Mewtwo Strikes back" and this book fits it to a perfect T!The BEST adaptation of the movie that I've seen! And to qoute another reviewer, it shows to the readers thatMewtwo is NOT a shallow villian, but more of a tortured philosopher whocannot realize the value of his unnatural life.Takeshi Shudo weaves atale of a Pokmon-esque Frankenstein, if you will.In the origonal MaryShelley version of Frankenstein, the monster escapes its master to findothers, but doesn't understand why people fear it.it is confused andlashes out in self-defense, the humans labeling it as a"mosnter".They persue it, mainly because they are afraid ofsomething they cannot understand. When i first saw the movie, I related itto the tale of Prometheus, the Greek Titan. The scientists were playinggod. They were dabbling in a power that wasn't meant for them.It seemednatural for their creation to turn on them.Though, Mewtwo destroyed themin self-defense and because he was confused.5-0 out of 5 stars Mewtwo Strikes Back
Mewtwo Strikes Back5-0 out of 5 stars A much more accurate version of the movie.
This is a lot more accurate than the novelization of Pokemon: The First Movie. It includes a lot of art and pictures from the movie and also includes some quotes on the bottom of the pages from the different scenes.Has both the movie, and Pikachu's Vacation. I was a little concerned aboutit until I bought it. The book had proven me wrong. It was a lot betterthan I had expected and it's a book that any Pokemon fan might want to get. An excellent book. 5 stars. ... Read more
