5-0 out of 5 stars Rocks, Rocks, Everywhere!
"The Magic School Bus: Inside the Earth" immediately picks up where its predecessor, "At the Waterworks", left off.At the end of each book, Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen provide a subtle clue as to the nature and content of their next collaboration - a sly wink to those of us who catch such details.5-0 out of 5 stars Inside The Earth
This storyis about a class of students that is bord then one day they all go on a journey inside the earth and the kids have all these questions that all get answered.the reason I like this book so much is because it tells so much about the earth in a way that is fun for the students.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book

5-0 out of 5 stars Great illustrations make this a real treat.
While unpacking our books after a recent move, I came across "Oobleck" and spent ten minutes or so to reread it for the first time in at least 20 years. While the storyline is fairly simple, Dr. Seuss' wonderful illustrations make this a fun book for readers of all ages. Buy it, read it to your kids (or anyone's kids!), and be sure to let them inspect each page to see all the great little details in the drawings. The facial expressions are particularly entertaining.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great story for making up voices...
Although "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" is different in style than the Dr Seuss books most people are familiar with, it is still a good story. Bartholomew is pageboy to the king, and apparently the smartest person in the kingdom. When the king orders his magicians make "something new" fall from the sky, with disasterous consequences, which threaten to bury the kingdom under an ocean of green sludge, only Bartholomew takes action.5-0 out of 5 stars A timeless classic for children and adults
Bartholomew and the Oobleck begins with the King of Did being irritated and bored with the weather. His page, Bartholmew, tries to enlighten the king with simple common sense. The king ignores him and turns to (literally) magical solutions for his current peeve. When the results turn disastrous, Barthlomew tries to warn his friends in the castle. No one listens to him, being more concerned with their own business and as a result, they all end up worse off. Then, when the king finally listens to him, a ray of hope appears amidst the crisis. "You know, Toad," said Frog with his mouth full, "I think we should stop eating. We will soon be sick." "You are right," said Toad. "Let us eat one last cookie, and then we will stop." Many "last cookies" later, Frog and Toad come up with an ingenious solution to their uncontrolled cookie consumption. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still Awesome
I read this book as a child and I'm so excited that my kids are reading it, too. It's great for early readers (and even pre-readers) because it's repetitive and the words go with pictures. My 2 1/2 year old almost has it memorized and thinks she's "reading"!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great begining book!
I grew up learning many sight words from this book, and it belonged to my cousin before me! It was one of my favorites.I can still remember "Up Spook Hill..."
5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Grammar and Entertainment
Not only is this a fun read-aloud book that any child will love to hear and memorize, but it is a terrific tool for teaching prepositional phrases. The title is a prepositional phrase, as is every page of the book! You can have your student label (or "classify") each page, and they will be well on their way to learning one of the most confusing concepts in English grammar!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Foot Book
Start reading this one and other Suess books to your children early. It's a lot of fun and a bit silly too, but it works.Left Foot Left Foot Right Foot Right Foot. Feet in the Morning. Feet in the Night. It begins so simply but in the end, you and your child are hooked.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Foot Book - Review
This book is written in the wacky way that most other Dr. Seuss books are written. He is a comical genius for young children and if I had kids I would buy them his books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh Amelia...We Love You So!
This book in the series finds Amelia Bedelia and her employers going camping...as always Amelia's literal minded approach means lots of misunderstanding between what the Rodger's tell her to do and what Amelia does.As always, Amelia Bedelia does EXACTLY as she is told (let's hit the road leaves Amelia hitting the road with a stick and I think we can all guess what happens when it's time to pitch the tent)!!In the end, its Amelia's big heart (and extraordinary cooking ability) that saves the day (as usual) when the Rodger's get fed up with all the misunderstandings!!Young readers will love to hear this story read out loud, but it's also a find book for readers just starting out!Amelia, I think, will be around for generations to come, the stories are simple, but hilarious and the illustrations are just darling!Always a good way to get a discussion going about how we use words and how a word or phrase can have several meanings...plus it's just plain fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, encouraging children to read
This is a great series incorporating many elements that children love: animals (specifically family pets), mystery, excitement, comedy, and a vocabulary that will challenge them, but not frustrate them. I loved them as a child, myself, and have given them to my niece now.

this book always showed up while i search about "Games History". no inside sample. too much text. i prefer more photos

1-0 out of 5 stars When a journalist attempts to be a historian...
This has been the third book on history of video games I have read. This time, the author or, more probably, the editor went far calling this the "ultimate" history of such an underestimated field of culture as videogames are. If I buy a book allegedly "Ultimate" in anything, I definitely have to have high expectations. And this is what I expected.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best "History" Book Ever
Since before videogames to the release of the X-box, the Ulitimate History of videogames tells it all. A book fit for a classroom however it doesn't read like a boring textbook. There are hundrededs of fun facts and interesting stories about the people and the companies involved in the making of a multibillion dollar industry. The book is also filled with interesting quotes from the author's interviews with the people he talks about. If you've ever wanted to know how it happened or just wanted to relive it, the Ulitimate history of Videogames is for you. Well worth the price. The first time i started reading it, i didn't want to put it down. An exellent book, if you are a fan of videogames, interested in pop culture, or just a history buff this book is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sleepy Time With Blue.
Good Night Blue is a great book to read prior to nap time or bed time. The book shows Blue going potty, brushing his teeth, and getting ready for bed. Children get a great story, and get to learn about all the things they need to do before going to bed.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good NIght Blue
I am sure that every preschool child would like to have this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bedtime, Step-by-step!
This book is excellent for the 2-3 crowd, providing a step-by-step guide to going to bed. My kids love the Blue's Clues theme and pictures, and relate well to the book. We especially like that included Blue on the potty, it gives a definite step-by-step structure to the task of going to bed, and it did not include a bath (so many bedtime books include a bath, and my child's bath-time is in the mid-afternoon). However, it is a little wordy, and you are in the persona of Steve, which my children found a little off-putting; for Steve to talk, they want Steve's voice! We just disregard the words and make up our own. When my kids are closer to reading age, with long attention spans, we'll actually read the words. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Open a Book and Open a Mind
With enchanting rhyme and whimsical illustrations, Dr. Suess delivers a children's book with lots to consider. The butter side up Yooks and the butter side down Zooks are a parody of the cold war, and the crescendo builds as the trivial evolves into a weapons race, culminating with a stalemate with each side having a "Big Boy Boomeroo".The younger readers will be enchanted by the rhythm of the tale and the lesson that grandpa imparts will be better understood by the older readers.Actually, a wonderful book for all ages.Pair this book with THE LORAX (a once "banned" Suess book!) and you'll have my favorite baby shower gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This book is wonderful for teaching about getting along with others who are different from you.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Butter Battle
The loved author, Dr.Suess tries to illustrate a war between two sides who never quit. The conflict, the side you put your BUTTER ON YOUR BREAD! That is what makes the story wacky and so Dr.Suess. Trying to out do each other, they always are at neck and neck. With big inventions, the two sides come at a standstill, daring each other to make their move. The book relates to how an actual war starts and how it keeps growing as it gets fed violence and non-sensed kinds of unsolved problems. This book was great with all the wacky coined language. I am a Dr.suess fan who enjoys the kind of books he creates. The books show what," The Dr.Suess" is trying to state and explain. Maybe, the world of Dr.Suess, is maybe, our world too. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Magic of Oz
I'm working my way through these books. They are charming little tales, perfect for bedtime stories or enjoying on a day off.The only disadvantage with this particular collection is that it is not a hardbound book. The pages are nearly as thin as those in a bible, but the binding is good.If you get this, I suggest getting a sturdy fabric cover or just wrapping it with a brown bag like when you were in school.

4-0 out of 5 stars do you like a stories inside a greater story?
The story King Arthur, which was written by Roger Lancelyn Green, is a truly exhilarating adventure set in the middle ages, and it contained many fascinating characters such as King Arthur, who was the king of Logres and who was one of the most important characters in the story; another character is Lancelot who was one of the best Knights of the round table and went on many quests, bringing much honor to Logres, and was quite important through out the book; another character would be Queen Morgana le Fay, she was not only a witch, but also the sister and nemesis of King Arthur, she often tried to capture or kill him and his knights, but in the end she makes peace with him; last but not least is Merlin, he is one of the best know characters, he is a wizard who saves King Arthur life twice, and foretells the future many a time; eventually he is buried alive by Lady Nimue until he is needed once again.
5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you needed to know about King Arthur but were afraid to ask!
This was the first King Arthur book I ever had. In more recent years I've read Le Morte D'Arthur, the Mabinogion, Bulfinch's Age of Chivalry, and a hundred othercollections, some for children and some for adults. This is still the best-written, most comprehensive version I've found.
1-0 out of 5 stars AWFUL ARTHUR!!!
This book was the worst!!! I usually enjoy reading books, but I didn't enjoy one little microscopic segment of this book!!!It was really hard to understand, and it felt like that all Roger Lancelyn Green cared about was death!! I mean really in one chapter I counted that 12 people died!!! In one single chapter!!!!! ... Read more

Editorial Review

The words and illustrations of Dr. Seuss have alway seemed inseparable--a peerless fusion of verbal and visual wit. Yet when the good doctor wrote the manuscript for My Many Colored Days in 1973, he specified that the book should be illustrated by "a great color artist who will not be dominated by me." Twenty-three years later, he has gotten his wish.Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher have produced a series of rich, painterly images that could never be mistaken for faux-Seuss. They have, however, caught something of his simplicity, and just as important, his sense of whimsy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love Dr. Suess
I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.
1-0 out of 5 stars Muddy and boring
I was so disappointed with this book. My 9 month old, who absolutely loves reading books (his first word was 'book' and he is constantly dragging books to me to read) tries to close the whole book or reach to the side for other books while I'm reading this to him. And I totally understand why. The illustrations are muddy, muted, and boring. The figures blend together like a bad watercolor. That wonderful Seuss visual whimsy and humor is nowhere to be found. I'm actually mystified by the good reviews. I guess every family is different - but my baby and I are bored to tears by this one.

The book I chose to read is called The Borrowers, written by Mary Norton.I would have to say that the main conflict or theme to this story is about a girl named Arrintrey. She starts on a jouney to find or get in touch with members of her family who live far away with the help of a special boy.Throughout this journey they help one another and become good friends who rely on each other very much.

Did you know that the real reason for human beans is to Keep Borrowers--unwittingly of course--supplied with oddments and bits of foot, hat and water?Mary Norton's children's classic remains as delightfully fresh and entrancing today as it did when it first appeared in 1953.Recounted by an insightful, elderly Mrs. May to a little girl, the story takes place in a country house in turn-of-the-century England. The author introduces her readers to a hidden race of little people called Borrowers--well, They don't consider it Stealing! Even their last names are borrowed--depending on where in the house they take up secret residence:Avoiding detection by the "human beans" on whom they rely

5-0 out of 5 stars Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Magic
I ordered this book for my two nephews, ages 5 and 7, because I had such wonderful, vivid memories of the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle series as a child(I am now 45!); I wanted them to experience it as well. I was an avid reader as a child(I still am)and was exposed to hundreds of titles and have many favorites that I read to my children and Mrs. Piggle Wiggle still stands out in the top 10 and I still get a smile on my face when I remember reading about the little girl that had radishes growing out of the caked on dirt on her arm because she refused to take a bath!

5-0 out of 5 stars "It Rocks"
Mrs. piggle- wiggle is a really good book. It is amazing how she always has a cure for the parent's problem. I liked it when they was supposed to go for a hike and a picnic but it was raining. So they went to her house then she got them to search for treasure. This book is a really good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Magic

For example: The Interrupters Cure, The Tattletales Cure, and The Never-Want-to-Go-to-Schooler cure. One time Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle had to use her magic on a boy named Christopher. Christopher had the worst table manners in the world!Christopher's mom called Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle to see if she could help. Well, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle had a pig named Lester who had the best manners is the world! So Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle let Mrs. Brown keep Lester for a week.Lester taught Christopher the best table manners in the world!I'm 10 years old and I don't like to read books, but I loved this book! I dont know who loves this book more, me or my son. He is so captivated by all of the exciting textures, flaps, fur, etc. We picked this book up on a whim, never imagining I would be looking for every other Dr. Seuss Nursery book to add to our collection. It captivates him nightly and I am so pleased that he truly enjoys reading it and hope his love for reading continues. Thank you Dr. Seuss Nursery!!

My 17 month old LOVES this book! Most of the classic Dr. Seuss books are too long & wordy for her (and she really loves reading), so this is a great introduction to the silliness.Plus, this book is very interactive (pets have hair, drink pink ink, play games, etc.)Would definitely recommend it! ...
