This book is a timeless classic.Every parent should read it to their small children. It is a great way to end the day with a sweet good night.

    5-0 out of 5 stars A classic
I must admit that the only reason I bought this book was because people said it is a classic and any web site about children's books named this one. I did not relate to it, because when I was growing up in India, this wasnt popular. When the book arrived and I actually looked at it, I did not understand what the hype was all about and did not really read it to my son until a couple of weeks ago. (I bought the book about a year ago when he was just 4 months :) )

When I first bought this book I wondered what why it was always listed as a favorite. I didn't know the story but thought the color choices were a bit strong. Well my child LOVES this book. We read it almost everyday! I would highly recommend this book as well as "The Big Red Barn". ... Read more

This story is adorable.I can finally read it to my daughter without crying. The only thing I didn't realize when I placed my order was that this was such a small book.I would have ordered a larger book had I known.

This book brought tears to my eyes the first time I read it.It is warm and comforting.A wonderful message for children that their mama will always be there no matter what...

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great, but okay
I feel like I am supposed to love this book since it is by the same author of the beloved "Goodnight Moon", but I don't and neither does my child. The illustrations are a bit bland and the story is unremarkable. It also lacks the rhythm of "Goodnight Moon".As a result it just doesn't seem to keep my child's attention. On one hand the message of a mom's unconditional love is rather sweet, but the way she goes about it is borderline creepy.By following her unwilling child all over the world she has the potential of appearing more obsessive and domineering than pleasant and caring. In the end, however, the book is harmless and many people seem to think it's a very charming book.I would just recommend giving it a quick read in the book store before you purchase it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Love And Devotion
I love the runaway bunny and my kids love the runaway bunny. It makes us laugh, brings us closer together, and helps reinforce the most important lesson my children can learn "A Mother's Love has no limits." We laughed at the young bunny's frustration, marveled at the mother bunny's persistence, and discussed the love and commitment that strengthens our own family. The Runaway Bunny has been a useful tool in reinforcing my dedication to my children. As young children enjoyed the pictures. It's small and simple, but the lesson is profound. ... Read more

A beautifully produced book, spectacular illustrations, a heartwarming story. Especially perfect for a read aloud with 3rd and 4th graders.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rabbit Run
This beautiful book, both in design and form, is an example of simplicity at it's best. A doll rabbit known as Edward Tulane to his owner (a small girl named Abilene) lives a life of privilege, he has the finest clothes, he has the love of a child, and he has a beautiful gold pocket watch of his very own. There is one problem however, though Edward knows love, for Abilene does love him so, he doesn't understand love. And because he doesn't understand love, he can not love nor can he know what it means to be loved. 5-0 out of 5 stars Truley and purley amazing
This book is not only pages with letters typed on them but a true masterpiece. As I read it I cried, jumped for joy and felt that Kate Dicammilo was an amazing person. Her books (Because of Win-Dixie, The Tale of Desperaux and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane) all have won well deserved awards and loved by all who read that feel the story as if were true and truly heartwarming. I've read the story countless times and each time I feel that the world is a wondrous place. Even though Edward is a china rabbit who lives, I didn't feel that it was cartoony and amusing. I felt that it was a true story and not a book that makes you laugh at how cartony it is. You MUST read this book if you are not just a kid who thinks a book is only pages and print. Becasue it's not. I have proof; The Miraculous Story of Edward Tulane. Thanks for reading.

The 23 original tales by Beatrix Potter comes in a sturdy presentation box. All 23 tales are of the original art work and are beautifully made. 5-0 out of 5 stars Goodnight Moon in Spanish
As an NY born of Dominican decent, I love reading this book to my little one.My 20 month old daughter loves this book. We have both the English and Spanish versions of the book.Often times she brings her Dad or me both books to read to her.We start with one gets tired of it mid-way and then she wants us to pick up where we left off in the other language. It doesn't really matter to her which language we start/end with.We change it up all the time.I agree with some other reviewers that the translation is not exact, but the flow is very good with the changes that were made.I especially like "la viejecita que teje muy calladita" instead of "a quiet old lady who was whispering 'hush'," especially since I knit and my daughter can relate to that.Because of this book she has begun to comfortably alternate luna/moon and star/estrella.I think it's really important for my little girl to learn both Spanish and, obviously, English and this book makes it that much easier to accomplish.

    Editorial Review

A stuffed toy rabbit (with real thread whiskers) comes to life in Margery Williams's timeless tale of the transformative power of love. Given as a Christmas gift to a young boy, the Velveteen Rabbit lives in the nursery with all of the other toys, waiting for the day when the Boy (as he is called) will choose him as a playmate. In time, the shy Rabbit befriends the tattered Skin Horse, the wisest resident of the nursery, who reveals the goal of all nursery toys: to be made "real" through the love of a human. "'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'" This sentimental classic--perfect for any child who's ever thought that maybe, just Read more

Absolutely loved it.At first, I thought it was strange...Because I thought it would be animated, but instead it was a sequence of still pictures.Like, as if, you were reading the book. But, within the first few minutes I was hooked and a half hour flew by with a wonderful ending.Meryl Streep does a beautiful job narrating the story and the piano music by George Winston is lovely.

As a parent, this may very well be my favorite bedtime story.Don't judge the book based on the TV show-- it is much better!Max and Ruby are making birthday cakes for Grandma.Max is making an earthworm cake but Ruby wants to make an angel surprise cake with rasbery fluff frosting.Despite Ruby's increasingly restrictive instructions, Max keeps knocking her ingredients off the table, and Ruby keeps sending him to the store with a shopping list for replacements.Max wants red hot marshmellow squirters to top off his cake, and his attempts to communicate this to the grocer make up the heart of the story.
4-0 out of 5 stars Bunny Cakes
This is an excellent picture book for young children. The story line is simple and easy for kids to connect with. Many children have siblings and can relate to Max and Ruby. The illustrations are heart warming and draw the reader in. Rosemary Wells repitition of events within the plot make her an excellent storyteller. Bunny Cakes is an endearing story.

5-0 out of 5 stars What kid wouldn't want to read about a vampire bunny?
I don't care how old I get, I'm just not going to turn down a chance to read a book about a vampire rabbit, especially if it's told from the point of view of a dog.Good old Harold was pretty much living the good life until the introduction into the household of a cute wittle bunny wabbit the Monroes brought home with them from the movies one night.(Apparently a Dracula fan, the bunny was all settled in to watch the Count do his thing when one of the Monroe kids sat on him in the theater.)Little Bunnicula doesn't really bother Harold at all, since he sleeps all day and doesn't come between him and his treats.Harold's feline friend Chester, on the other hand, doesn't cotton to Bunnicula at all, seeing what no one else seems to notice - this bunny has fangs, and his coloration pattern sometimes makes it look like he's wearing a cape.Reading up on vampires while the Monroes sleep, Chester quickly becomes obsessed with getting this little bat in bunny's clothing out of the house as soon as possible - especially after healthy vegetables begin to show up completely drained of their color.

This is a great book.I have read it more than once.I especially like the white vegetables!I think that both boys and girls will like it.This is an interesting book because it helps you imagine how dogs and cats might think. The author of this book has a good imagination!

Children's librarians have to prepare for certain kinds of questions. When a child walks up to your Reference Desk, you need to be ready to get them the exact book they're looking for at the exact moment that they want it.I get a lot of young kids, mostly girls, who want a good vampire book of their very own.Aside from the usual "Vampire State Building" and "Dracula Is a Pain In the Neck", both by Elizabeth Levy, there's really not a lot out there to recommend wholeheartedly. In fact, nine times out of ten, I find myself suggesting that most accessible of vampirism books, "Bunnicula".It doesn't star a human vampire, but you can hardly blame me.Now just this past week I found myself in the unenviable position of needing to find lots and lots and lots of copies of a single book for the upcoming meeting of my homeschooler bookgroup. And what delightful chapter book did I have enough copies in my library branch to satisfy screaming hoards of homeschooled kiddies?Again, it's "Bunnicula" to the rescue. It may not seem at first glance to have earned itself the moniker of "classic children's book", but I can attest right here and right now that when it comes to lifesaving go-to titles, I'll take "Bunnicula" over "Bridge To Terebithia" or "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret", any day.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kinda Bummed...
My son LOVES his Pat the Bunny book, so I bought this one for him so he could keep it in his crib with him.I'm bummed because they are only 2 pages that are truely interactive, and the story itself was sort of lacking...He doesn't even seem interested in it...I'm still hopeful that he'll get interested and I didn't waste my money...

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
We received this book as a gift for my son.I had Pat the Bunny as a kid, but I'd never seen such a cool cloth book; we've been showing it to visitors when they come over. It's very entertaining to hop the bunny through the scenes, and I know we'll have lots of fun with the book in the future. What a great way to get kids (and the adults they read with) involved in the story!
5-0 out of 5 stars a safe and soft book
I PURCHASED THIS BOOK FOR MY 8 MONTH OLD AND HE LOVES IT!ALTHOUGH HE CANNOT READ YET OBVIOUSLY, HE LOVES TO CHEW ON THIS BOOK SINCE HE IS TEETHING.HE LOVES THE LITTLE BUNNY BECAUSE HE CAN HOLD IT IN HIS HAND AND IT IS ATTACHED TO THE BOOK.THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE ON THIS ARE NOT TRUE.IT SAYS THAT IT IS NOT MACHINE WASHABLE AND I THREW IT IN THE WASHER AND IT WAS JUST FINE AS LONG AS IT IS A DELICATE CYCLE.OTHER THAN THAT IT IS SAFE AND SOFT AND MY CHILD LOVES IT. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Note that this is a paperback!
I didn't notice that this book was a paperback and was expecting a board book similiar to the English version sold in stores.Board books are much more durable, of course.I also agree that there is a color match issue as mentioned by someone else.Otherwise, I'm happy to have the story in French.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great way for your child to learn french
We got this bok because we are trying to teach our 5 yr old some basic French. This book is great for naming objects and the repetitive nature of the ryhmes make it easy for the child to learn.Since she knew and loved the english version, this was a great way to learn some french.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good for teaching French, but not as magical as the original
This book is a near-literal translation of the original "Good Night Moon," including copies of the original pictures. Because my 18-month-old loves the original English version, and because I'm trying to teach him French, I ordered "Bonsoir Lune" so that he could associate the French words with the pictures and story that he already knows in English. For that purpose, it works fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Tale of Peter Rabbit
The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a great little adventure book for children. It is wonderful because even without being able to read, a child can understand the story by looking through Potter's wonderfully illustrated Victorian Era Art. I would recommend this book to any teacher or parent. This should definitely be a book in your personal library.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Tale of Peter Rabbit
ISBN 1569870217 - I mention the ISBN so there's no confusion. With so many copies and retellings, Peter Rabbit is a tough review.Dissing Peter Rabbit is hard for me. I love the story, as I do most of the stories I grew up knowing even before I could read.Having read it recently, I'm not sure that it's the story I loved, or the fact that the big people in my world told it to me.
3-0 out of 5 stars The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Myriah Rangel
This book is about a rabbit that has 3 brothers and sisters, and they all go out.The mother tells them not to go to Mr. McGregor's garden, but Peter the main rabbit, doesn't listen to her and goes there. He ends up running and hiding from him.He finally got home and was sick, from everything he had been through. He is one of my favorites, because it kind of reminds me of me, because I do a lot that people tell me not to. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not that impressed
I love books. I love children's books and love reading to my grandchildren. I must say that I was not all that impressed with this book. The physical look of the book is gorgeous. It is a high quality hardback with adorable, charming pictures. But I just couldn't get into the story line. I certainly don't see it in the same category as classics like Peter Rabbit and the Velveteen Rabbit. I bought it to read to my four and five year old grandchildren. I just can't see them sitting still for that whole story. I couldn't even get through it in one sitting myself. I think it is too long for a reading session for children who can't read yet and I don't think it would hold the interest of children old enough to read for themselves, so I'm not sure what the target age would be. I am obviously in the minority with this opinion, but as one who has read tons of books to my own children, as a substitute teacher and now as a Grandma;I think my opinion should carry some weight.

5-0 out of 5 stars The cutest book!

We love this book. The bunny goes on a smelling adventure. My daughter loves the scratch and sniff. This book meets our high expectations on quality and content.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Memories
I had this book as a kid (actually I think it belonged to one of my sisters) but as soon as I saw it on the bookshelf at my local independent seller, I had to get it.The smells are still the same as I remember.I don't see what you all are complaining about it not smelling or detracting from the images...it's as great as I remember it being and I look forward to purchasing it as a baby present...one to grow into when she's done with board books and is ready for a picture book.

3-0 out of 5 stars weak smells
I bought this book for the smells. I wanted to teach my 15 month old to smell. I didn't like this book for two reasons. One the pages were soft, not hard back board book for little kids hands. The second reason was the smells are on every other page with lots of word in between. My little girl gets bored. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Both newcomers and old fans of the series will appreciate.
Peter has just won a contest: the prize is a school visit from his idol and the author of the FleshCrawlers series. While Peter's excited, Chester the cat is suspicious: Graves dresses in black, has a silent black crow about him at all times, and Chester knows that in each of Graves' popular books, something bad always happens to the pet... humor again blends with the supernatural in a Bunnicula story both newcomers and old fans of the series will appreciate.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bun of Darkness is Back...
Its been twenty seven years since Bunnicula first hopped from the minds and pages of Deborah and James Howe's Bunnicula: A Rabbit- Tale of Mystery and into the popular lexicon. Merely mention the name Bunnicula to any thirty- something and you are bound to get a smile and a laugh as memories of Chester, Harold, Howie and the Bun of Darkness come flooding back. Finally, the rabbit with a V8 addiction is back; every bit as delightful as he was when he first appeared in 1979, and just in time for us to introduce him to our own children.
