By far, the worst in the series.
This installment is easily the weakest in the series. The writing is all over the place, and there is no central plot to drive the story. That being said, the book is still good. I've just come to expect more from this series.

It was great!
Harry Potter and The Order of the Pheonex was one of the best books i have ever read even though I am a huge Harry Potter fan. The book starts out by describing how the muggle prime minister and the minister of magic have to be connected. Harry is at home in the next chapter and Dumbledore comes to see him at the Durlseys and tells Harry how they would be having lessons the whole year, teaching Harry more about Voldemort's past and Harry learning how to kill Voldemort. The rest of the book plays up on the adventure that Dumbledore and Harry take together trying to kill part of Voldemorts soul, a Horcrux. When Harry and Dumbledore come home Dumbledore learns of how Draco Malfoy has been following Voldemort all year and Snape is also on the dark lord's side, seeing how he kills Dumbledore.

I loved this book because it kept you guessing and it was exciting.It was even better than all the others in my opinion.Harry was furious because he coudn't find out what Lord Voldemort was doing.This book is about stopping Voldemort and his horrible plans.The head of the ministry of magic has hired Professor Umbridge as the new defense against the Dark Arts teacher and the High Inquisitor of the school.Harry tries to help out other people by teaching defensive spells.I definitely recommend this book to people of all ages! ... New Series

Wow--great read for all!
Rachel Caine fans are in for another rockin' ride in this new series!
A good book for the right age group but a disappointment for us "grown ups"
I love Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series and was keen to read this, the first in a new series subtitled "The Morganville Vampires". However, this book is VERY different from the Weather Warden series - our heroine is a 16 year old girl going off to College. As an English woman the American college system seems very bizarre at the best of times but Claire's experiences in her first six weeks at her new college in Morganville are even stranger. She's a bit of a brainy nerd and pretty soon falls foul of Monica, the 'cool but dim' girl who, with her acolytes, virtually runs the college. They gang up against Claire and, in order to escape various attempts to harm her, some successful, Claire moves out and starts living in an old house with two young men, Shane and Michael, and a goth girl, Eve. Once there she begins to find out some very strange things about the town of Morganville, its residents and the rules that she needs to know to be protected from the evil things out there.

becoming a movie!!!
i really adored this book and the 3rd book is taking much to long to come out! I have heard that Mel Gibson recently picked up these books as a screen play. He is making a movie out of this! I for one, cannot wait to here more about it, but since the third isnt out yet, ill have to wait even longer.

one in a million
one of the best follow up books ever written.Lies, secrets, and friendship what else could you have in a story like this. The story will keep you dancing on your toes all the way through the book. If you have read the first book A Great and Terrible Beauty you will know that this book will be as good as the first.

An Excellent Sequel
Sequels are tricky and they're famous for not living up to an original- either the writer will try to rehash what was successful in the original, in which case the result is too often boring a second time around; or she'll attempt to take thestory into a different place and risks not being true to the initial characters and situations. Libba Bray does both- she brings her story forward while remaining true to what made the first novel good.

My [...] could not put it down!
Both "The Sea of Monsters" as well as the first book in the series, "The Lightning Thief" were fantastic books that my eleven-year old son could not put down.He tends to be very critical about books but this series is a new favorite.He is recommending these books to friends and is looking forward to Riordan's next edition. "The Sea of Monsters" has also peaked his interest in mythology. I recommend you try this series if you want to inspire your child's interest in reading.

What an understatement!!!I started to read this book and couldn't put it down.It left me wanting more and voila... Season of the Sandstorms is about Jack and Annie going on one of Merlin's Missions.This time they go to the golden age of Baghdad and are suppose to help the Caliph sread wisdom to the world.Your going to have to read the rest yourself.You'll also learn who the Caliph is!This was the best book I ever read!

MAGICAL!
This book is a lot of fun, as it reveals magic(fiction) to be true.

The Ologies are Awesome!
This is third of the "ologies" I have purchased for my 13 year old daughter. We gave her the Dragonology and Egyptology books for Christmas. They are all three gorgeous books that she enjoys over and over. To call this a pop-up book really doesn't do it justice. All kinds of little pockets, notes, baubles, decorations, and such. WELL worth the money.

Entertaining and Fun
This book is well made and visually appealing.Not only a reading pleasure but a pleasureable reading experience that makes it a great book to share with someone. Great Fun
Enjoyable quick reads that supplement Harry Potter's world and give a nice fix while waiting for the next novel to come out. The proceeds from the sale of these books also goes to charity. Giving geeks a good name.
Encyclopedia Brown was my childhood hero. I liked him so much I named my cat Sally Kimball. Not one to stand out in a crowd, Cyc (on the covers of the old scholastic paperbooks) looked like a carbon copy of my 2nd grade self. Of course, I was sitting inside reading about his adventures during recess, not solving crimes, with wits perhaps not quite so sharp. And my suburb did not have quite as many opportunities for me to distinguish myself with crime-solving ability. Still, Cyc taught me lessons that I saw myself one day applying, once I escaped Red China.
Are You a good detective?
This story is about a boy who starts a detective business and his name is Leroy Brown, but all his friends call him Encyclopedia.His father is the cheif of police and no one in the city of Idaville(where he lives)had gotten away with any crime in over one year!Whenever his father gets a hard case, he tells it to Leroy and it's solved very fast, but it's their little secret.The answers to all the cases are in the back of the book, but sometimes it's fun to solve them yourself.Some cases are easier than others and some are harder than others but they all make this a good book!

Still a favorite after 20 years...
I read all the books I could find in this series as a young girl.To this day, I still remember some of the answers and clues (a door swings out towards its hinges).I am so glad to have found these books and hope to share them with my son and nephews when the time is right.I'll probably read them all over again...that is how much I enjoyed them growing up.

Shan has done it again!
I love this series to death!I was super excited when the last book finally came out.I read it in less than a day.I couldn't put it down.I was shocked at the end.I was literally almost in tears.I'm sad Mr. Crepsley wasn't in the last three books.He was my favorite character and I'd love this book even more if he was in it!I have to say, I'm sad that it's over.I've read this series at least three times.I love vampire books, and this series was by far the best.It gets boring with your typical "blood-sucking, night walkers" vampire stories, but Darren Shan put a total twist on it and that made it new and refreshing.That's what I loved most.And the fact that he uses his own name saying it really happened makes it a little better.Overall, it was an excellent book!!!

You MUST read this book!!!
I love this book! I just finished it today and I started it 3 days ago. Usually I can read these books in less than a day but with school and everything its hard to squeeze an entire book in one day. I agree with everyone the ending is a little corny. But without a doubt I would tell anyone to read this book. Although it looks like a book that guys would like, I am a girl and fell in love with these books I have the entire series and I am starting to read Darren Shan's new series; The Demonata. I am waiting for the 3rd book to come out and it feels like it is taking forever! But anyway, this book has many surprises and unexpected events. I don't want to blow the big question who is the Lord of Shadows? Darren or Steve? But I will say that Vancha apparently did not die because over the 2 years after the Lord is revealed Evanna get pregnant with Vancha and his brother. I must say this book will keep you wanting more! I actually cried when I finished the book because I loved the whole series and for it to end they way it did makes me dissappointed. But I have been on Darren's site and he said after the 10 book series of The Demonata (which I must say is a great series for anyone who loved Cirque Du Freak)he MIGHT write a 2nd season to the Cirque Du Freak books but nothing is a deffinate. All I can really say is READ THIS BOOK!!! you will love it!

i agree good book sad ending
this is a very good book.but the ending was sad. I was expecting more of an after shock like ??? um i forgot who said that.well this is awsome and very sad I mean im a boy and i got sad.and your right i cant believe its over, it stinks. I mean it was a crudy ending and he is cheating the veiwers. And the worse part of all darren never got to say bye to Vancha daries or especialy Annie. Also what ever happend to Vancha after Gannen stabbed him. The real Darren if you read this please tell me.Now dont get me wrong its by the far best series ive ever read and i own the whole series. Just it leaves the veiwers a gap in the story.I think there should be 1 more book. I cant stand it, the books is like my bible well not really but there so good its really hard to believe that its all over,all the waiting you ,we had to do to get the series it just is not that fair and im pretty shure people agree with me. Comics most powerful villian at his best
What can I say Ensabuh Nur is simply amazing as the anti-christ of this book he actually feels that he is God in this Story alot of shocking suff goes on in this story guys who are usually bad are good and the ones who are usually good are bad plus this story arc gave birth to many characters that are around to this day.

Book 1 for fans... Book 2 in comparison
Most fans would rather they made this book vol. 2 and the second vol. sould have been first. But this is because everyone likes the other issues (and for good reason) more.
First Half is great, but Vol. 2 should be read first...
The Age of Apocalypse was the high mark for the X-Men (and company) in the 1990s, and can in many ways be considered the climax of the X-Men saga.

Haunted Castle
This particular book I'm reading is called The Haunted Castle on Hallows Eve . It's not a very scary book but it might be for Annie and Jack. They're the main characters in the book. They have the magic tree house that sends them on missions. In this secret mission, they don't know what it is about but along the way they find clues. They don't know if it is dangerous or not. But luckily their friend Teddy can come along with them. He's from a whole different dimension. He's from a world where there's wizards. Teddy has a magic rhyming twig that nobody knows about. Inside this castle they go around looking for something that might be going wrong. The exciting, never ending heart pounding action is going to begin. Did Jack and Annie see A ghost or An invisible child. Find the excitement.
Great Book
This book is very fun. I't cool at the end where they run into the kid in the eyeball costume!

Advice of sibling true - they get better and better
My little brother passed away at just 17 years old on July 25th, and I remember when I first started reading year 4, he said that each book only get's better and I have a long way to go. Yes, it took me nearly three months to read this novel, but not because I'm that slow of a reader. More likely, the story and characters were so interesting that I preferred dragging out each chapter to save myself from moving forward to year 5.
My Favorite Book- one you could read again and again
I LOVED THIS BOOK! It really IS a book you could read again and again. If I was stranded on an island for weeks and could only bring ONE book, I would DEFINETLY bring this book, without a doubt. It was thrilling, sad, funny, and beautifully written all at the same time. I admit, I cried. I did. Some people would think why cry but it was so touching, so beautiful, I loved it. It really is the BEST book I've ever read. I can't say anything bad about it.

Great Book
This book is great so far. It is full of mystery and adventure. Twelve year old Claudia has run away with her brother Jamie to the Metropilan Muesum of Art. Claudia decided to bring along her brother Jamie with her because he has a lot of money. While they are there at the muesum, Claudia and Jamie come across a great mystery in the muesum that is all over the newspaper. If you would like to find out what this great mystery read this book! Teachers it is also a great book to read with your class. Also edutactional!

Not mixed-up about how good this book is
This Newbery award winner is about Claudia and Jamie, two kids who run away from home. They leave the suburbs and head to New York where they stay in none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They sleep in an old bed in the French section. They hide in the bathrooms. They even take baths in a fountain (and get paid for it, sort of)!But when a new exhibit comes in, the fun really starts. The Angel is beautiful, exquisite, and mysterious. The question: is the sculpture really done by Michelangelo? Claudia and Jamie will do anything to find out. I think I loved the book mostly because I really liked the idea of living in a museum. This book is good for all ages, but I expected it to be longer.

A great adventure from James Patterson
Surprised at all the negative reviews, but then again its all just opinion, so here is mine:James Patterson isn't Ernest Hemingway!
A Page Turner
This book is one of the best teen books that I've ever read!It will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing even after you finish it.Luckly the second book in the series is out.The story is about six 98% human/2% bird "creatures" and their lives as they rescue their little "sister" from the labratory where they were created.All the while they are being chased by wolf/humans.I won't spoil the story for you though.But I highly suggest reading this book.You won't be disappointed!!!!

An Adults Review
I am not a teen, or a tween, but I do enjoy a good well written adventure story and the plotline of this book sounded interesting. Genetically altered children with wings, in an age where parents are close to being able to assign attributes to future babies it seemed appropriate to write such a story. James Patterson, usually known for his murder mysteries tries and fails, in my opinion, to speak through an adolescent's point of view. It was an "almost" story; never quite reaching a "wow" factor, kept me interested just enough to finish it but not enough to read the next installment. The plot didn't flow; the characters were too one dimensional, with funny but ridiculous names and even more worse they were too generic to the Young Adult Genre. Pick up any book in that section and you will find that 90% of them have the A) angst ridden young girl who doesn't realize she is wonderful and B) the Boy she is close with but doesn't realize she loves him, and vice versa C) the characters spouting forth the idiom of the day and D) a plot with no flow only small surges that never reach a common stream of conscience. I would say this was less Maximum Ride and more like Miniscule Jaunt. ... Read more

Taking a line from his cancelled and poorly shown movie, Whedon and the Hacks at Dark Horse deliver up this rubbish, which is just that, Rubbish.

Perfect filler between TV series and movie
Quick admission: I'm a huge fan of the Firefly TV series and "Serenity".I think both were horribly underappreciated, and can't understand why they weren't more successful.

While it is a little inconvenient to have to jump from a television series (thanks Joss Whedon and crew and cast, untimely cancelled, bad judgment Fox) to movie (thanks Universal) to comic book (thanks Dark Horse), it is rewarding to see more of the story accessible to Firefly/Serenity fans.It is amazing how few fans actually saw the series on television or the movie but became big fans from DVD sales.This is a story that touches the heroic, underdog spark in all of us.The comic book was appreciated for connecting the series to the movie and for explaining a couple of missing elements such as what happened to the blue hands guys. ...
