5-0 out of 5 stars The Best ABC Book for Boys!
My 4 year old son loves this book.It became a favorite book after reading one time.He wants to read it everyday! The author has created fun imaginative superheroes representing each of the letters.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good premise
The book is well done, though I could do without the gross-out factor for the "V" superhero. My son is more excited about the superheros and the illustrations than the letters, but it's a unque way of getting him interested in the sounds the letters make.

5-0 out of 5 stars a "Must Have"
I cannot believe how much my kids ages 3, 10 and 11 LOVE this book .... I even catch my teenagers and my husband looking at it! Absolutely Fantastic book...a "must have" for every child's library! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So good it gave me goose-bumps
My 11 year old son and I listened to Gossamer driving to and from school. But then we couldn't bear to leave the story behind, so spent the rest of the afternoon huddled around the tape deck. What an enchanting coming of age story. Yes, there is darkness and violence, but such feeling of hope. I cried through the last chapter. Wow. This is an incredible book. And beautifully read by Ms Twomey. I was especially drawn to the idea that so much can be experienced through touch. Seems to me it's the sense most writers underplay. And the writing is so simple, yet so powerful. I would give Gossamer more than 5 stars if I could.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another GREAT Story
Lois Lowry has a unique gift for storytelling and this gift serves her well in her latest story Gossamer. This is the story of Littlest One, a dream-giver, and a boy who needs her healing touch. After reading this book I feel as if I have been a part of this story. That I was actually there huddled under the bed when the terrible Sinisteeds came. And I was with Thin Elderly when he wept in the attic. The characters in this book become real as I become engrossed in the story which balances between reality and the imaginary.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gossamer
Lowry has crafted a tender story on the healing power of dreams and has given the reader a glimpse of the fantasy beings who bestow them.Littlest, inquisitive and enthusiastic, is training to become a dream giver.Littlest is mentored by Thin Elderly and together they work their magic on an abused foster child and his caretaker, a lonely old woman.Theygently touch objects belonging to the woman and the boy, gathering the memories they contain and bestowing them in dreams.Despite the best efforts of Littlest and Thin Elderly, both the boy and the his caretaker are beset by nightmares that are the work of the Sinisteeds, the counterparts of the dreamgivers.Littlest and Thin Elderly persevere, fighting the bad memories of abuse and love lost with tenderness and the knowledge that good memories carry the dreamers through rough patches.Readers will empathize with John as he flashbacks to episodes with his abusive father and battered mother and will cheer on Littlest, renamed Gossamer for her light touch, as she searches for the precise memory that will rescue John. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Told Stories
I have been a fan of the More Scary Stories books since I was a little kid. Schwartz's stories and Gammell's illustrations were always a treat to look. Sadly I can't read and work at the same time so I decided to buy the audio tapes. They're very good and very creepy. The narrator has a great range of vocals and tells the stories beautifully, even frightening me at times. I was sort of dissapointed to see that a few of my favorite stories from the first volume were missing, such as The Thing and WINDEGO, but overall I'm very pleased with the quality of these CDs. Now I can take these scary stories to whatever dark places I desire.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite scary story collections.
These stories scared me a LOT when I found out about them. Except for the funny ones. My favorites are: THE HOOK, "OH, SUSANNAH!", THE BAD NEWS, THE ATTIC, THE WINDOW, THE BIG TOE, THE WHITE WOLF, THE WOLF GIRL, THE CURSE, THE LITTLE BLACK DOG, AARON KELLY'S BONES, T-H-U-P-P-P-P-P-P-P!, "NO, THANKS", THE GHOST WITH THE BLOODY FINGERS, THE VIPER, HIGH BEAMS, HAROLD, SUCH THINGS HAPPEN, THE DEAD HAND, THE APPOINTMENT, THE WENDIGO, and ROOM FOR ONE MORE. (can't think of other stories).
5-0 out of 5 stars I don't care if you're 50. You will be scared...trust me.
I read these books about 15 years ago and I must say to this day they are still among the scariest I've ever read. In fact I'd almost NOT suggest letting little children read them. The stories are short and truely frightening. The only suggestion that I have is that you do actually read the books. I have yet to hear the audio CD but I intend to get it in the near future just to have on hand. The reason for this is the pictures. The drawings done for these books are utterly horrifying. In 15 years I STILL have trouble looking at some of them. And better yet, they are burned into my memory. If your a parent, I'd suggest flipping through the pages first to see if you're okay with the stories themselves...but the pictures as well (as the pictures can really pack a punch, nightmares all around). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars my comments
I enjoyed the books very much. They are a little different form my usual reading, R.A.Salvadore and Micheal Jordan. The books gave me a needed break. When I finished them I was happy to turn them over to my granddaughtter.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great series of books!!!!!! I love the story!!!!!
It certainly has become one of my favorites series of books, if notthe most. It really kept me entertained. I spent most of my work hours reading the books, and sometimes I hated been working because of the interrumptions. I read almost 10 chapters while working and kept me focused imagining everything that C.S. Lewis described as if I were watching a movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars good read
only disappointed with the books being numbered chronologically instead of by publish date.they are great books for adults and children the like.easy to read and follow - creative, imaginative and humorous.maybe too short a novel and too simple for adults but who isn't a child at heart?the rough pictures in the books are very descriptive and makes the books more interesting.

3-0 out of 5 stars Constant editorial mistakes
I liked this book well enough although Im not so sure my child can handle the level just yet like I was hoping he could.I saw many an editorial mistake made in these books. In fact on page 3 of the very first book it jumps a page ahead in the narrative and leaves a child completely confused before they can even become attached to it.Very disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars great spy novels
I bought this collection for my son, who is 9, and we have enjoyed reading through these books together. They are distinctly targeted at a preteen (or perhaps a teenage) audience but have enough intrigue and humor to capture my attention as well.He is the first kid in his school to hear of Alex Rider, but with the first movie coming out in the Spring I think the novels will find new life.Don't wait!Read them now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spectacular stories by a talented author!!
The Alex Rider stories are perfect for anyone (really) interested in spy adventure. I listen to them being read on a British radio station--BBC 7--and I have gone out out and bought every one of Anthony Horowitz' novels.

5-0 out of 5 stars UNSPEAKABLE GOOD!
My daughter is 5 and we've just finished reading this book together.I love this book on so many levels that I have trouble putting words down.Funke (or Funke's translator, not sure which) delivers a page-turning, compelling story about adventure, friendship, loyalty and doing the right thing. She does all of this amid perfect sentence structure, flawless grammar, strong character development, larger than life imagery and unparalleled story telling.I have not a single complaint about this book other than it's not long enough!Oh how we both long for more!I read this book to my daughter for an hour each night at bedtime (remember, she's only 5) and usually an hour each day. There were many wonderful opportunities for discussion about lessons in the book and new vocabulary for my daughter. There are no truly "bad guys" in this book (aside from Nettlebrand whose life is borrowed anyway) and those who made some poor decisions are given opportunities to redeem themselves in the end.The characters are so strong and lovable!I can't say enough about this book.I do hope someone will take on the task of putting it to the big screen. It will be a veritable feast for the eyes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever!!!!!
Wow!! This is the best book I've ever read. Sorrel, "Mr. Grumpy", is hilarious !Ben is a decent character.Firedrake is a good character and sleepy head.Twigleg is a great character. He's best when he tricks his first master.Nettlebrand the crazy, demanding, dumb, gold "dragon" is a weird enemy. He hunts dragons for no reason at all.I hope you like this as I do, but if you don't .... oh well oh well.Plus lots of Accelerated Reader Points at school!!!Aced it!

5-0 out of 5 stars captivating!
This book is a wonderful read. I couldn't put it down till I finished it, and I literally locked myself in my bedroom with my misic blaring so that nobody could interrupt me. The wonderful characters and captivating storyline is very addicting. I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a slightly humerous fantasy story. I thought the manunculus was soooo cute! ... That was flippin' awesome!Venom is AMAZING!
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
When I first heard that the Symbiote was going to be a cure for cancer, I was dissapointed. But they managed to pull it off amazingly! It was a great comic, but I wish spidey had worn the Symbiote Suit a little longer before losing it.Overall, this was a great comic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great story, but you need to buy the game to find out how it ends.
The Ultimate Venom TPB is awesome, and a worthy read, however, once you get to the end, there are too many questions left unanswered. To get these answers you have to buy the Ultimate Spider-man video game for PS2, Xbox, or Gamecube. The videogame is the second half of the story. It's been confirmed by Marvel, Activision, and Bendis that the videogame is canon to the comicbook, so those who aren't gamers just lost 1/2 of the story. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal Fantasy Adventure!
Right up there with the very best of J.R.R. Tolkien, this book (and this trilogy) has everything any fantasy reader could want. I gulped this book down instantly, and now I've started a second read. There's just so much adventure, humor, and rich meaning in this book! This is T.A. Barron's best ever -- and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. (My vote is a return to Avalon!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Avalon: A magnificent creation
"You know, Tamwyn, you have your own inner flames, though they cannot be seen. And the most powerful fires reside in the soul."And what a magnificent creation Mr. Barron has brought forth through his own powerful flames! This book--the third in The Great Tree of Avalon trilogy--is incredible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Paper qualtiy poor
The box set is great reading...but for the price...especially the list price of $70.00, I would have expected higher quality paper. The set is printed on pulp paper and will not last worth beans and the covers are thin and not robust. You may as well buy the cheapest set you can find, because the quality of the cheaper books is not any lower, the books are just a little smaller and the "bonus content is just the first chapter of the next book and some other tidbits of marginal interest

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Excellent! Superb! (if you like fairy-tales then you may read this review, if not, don't go any further)
The Chronicles of Narnia are beautifully written books. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read. I would strongly reccomend them to everyone. I have read them all seven times, and I still can't decide which is my favorite! People who don't like them surprise me. Not only are they wonderful fairy-tales, they also have a lot of underlying Christian themes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grover rules
I had this book when I was growing up,I bought it for my son when he was young and now I have bought another for my daughter. We all enjoy this book. Grover is the funniest Sesame Street character. In the story Grover tries to use bricks, string, ect. to keep the kids from turning pages because of the monster at the end of the book. My kids loved turning the pages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant !
Really enjoyed reading this book and I am 37!(Researching books to read to my class) I had to 'steal' it off my daughter who was only on Ice Fire as she wanted to read it first and had hidden it from me! We both can't wait for book 4. If you like books that are not what they first appear to be and go between a fantasy world and the 'real' world then you'll enjoy this book however old you are.

In this book he and many clay dragons that come to life needs to find out who a mysterious woman is when she claims that she is a relative of the Pennykettles. But during his college lesson with Dr. Bergstrom, David also finds out that Dr. Bergstrom is strange. Thisbook is highly recommended to anyone at any age. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I got my copy autographed.
This book reprints the first nine issues of the Age of Bronze comic books. It's a beautifully drawn, well written comic book about the Trojan War.The only problem I have with the comic, and it'a a minor problem, is that there are so many characters, it's hard to keep track of who's who.Highly recommended to fans of graphic literature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Holy Cow! This is off the chart great.
I just ripped through A Thousand Ships and the second book in the series, Sacrifice, in two days and I'm bowled over. What a tour de force these books are.Shanower seamlessly incorporates all the myths entwined in the Trojan War.An incredible feat by itself, it's even more impressive because he achieves this without bogging down what is, after all, a ripping good story.
5-0 out of 5 stars the Bronze Age brought brilliantly to life
Eric Shanower does a fabulous job of bringing the Mycenaean world and the story of the Trojan War to life.Shanower has a different perspective on many of the characters than I might choose, but still I find his protagonists credible and compelling. With a combination of strong characterization and historically accurate settings and costumes, this is simply one of the best reimaginings of the myth I've encountered.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Magical Book
This is a beautiful book! Despite being aimed at children it truly puts life in perspective and is relevant to people of all ages; I loved it. This is the best book you can buy for a child and so beautifully illustrated! Should be part of the syllabus in all schools.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeps you Wanting more but wanting better.
This book kept you wanting more to the end. It just made you see and picture everything as it went along but it seemed to planned and too played out to when you got to the end your.. kinda not wanting to see the next book to it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Music?
Kissing Coffins is a entertaining read and a real page turner. It takes you into your own underworld of goths and vampires. You begin to fall for memorable characters like Alexander. The imitation of brands like Hello Batty and Hot Gothics is quite funny. The only negative thing about this book is the name dropping of some bands. I understand that Evanescence can be seen as a goth band to the casual listener but Good Charlotte? Everyone knows they are a bunch of punk poser wannabes. A real goth woudn't be caught dead listening to them, no pun intended. Anyway, it is a good read for any fan of young adult vampire novels if you don't mind vampire stereotyping...

4-0 out of 5 stars Kissing Coffins Indeed
I started reading Kissing Coffins as soon as I was done reading Vampire Kisses. It starts where the first book ends. Raven, the outcast goth girl, finds that her love, Alexander, has apperently vanished. She finds his family's mansion packed up and empty.

1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING!!!Horrible Book
This book was Salvatore at his worst.Do not buy it. It was really boring until the end and then all Drizzt does is fight a few frost giants. After this Drizzt goes into a berserk rage that lasts for another whole book because he thought that Bruenor died. This attempt to build up tension turns Drizzt into a bloodthirsty instinctive monster for another whole book. All he thinks about is kill orcs, kill orcs, kill orcs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!!!
R.A. Salvatore's writing is fantastic. The multidimesional depth of his characters is amazing. It is a wonderful first book to a triology I can't wait to read.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Beginning to a New Series
Salvatore has lost it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Warriors: Rising Storm....
There are two diffrent kinds of covers. One with Cloudpaw and Fireheart, One with fireheart and Sandstorm. Last tuesday was library day: The second one. I was thinking "The books I borrowed this time was boring." So I returned them, went to the fiction section and found 5 series of warriors. I picked the 4th in the series, as It was appealing. I read this one first, I had gotten three books. This book is far by better than almost ANY book I have ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Troubles Heat Up
This was a more intense "reality-check" kind of book. Fireheart is now appointed deputy in the place of the forever-loathed Tigerclaw, and he has new responsibilities way beyond being a warrior. His best friend has gone, and left Fireheart to deal with problems alone. Fireheart, formerly a kitty-pet, visited his sister, Princess, from time to time at the twoleg place and has promised to watch over and possibly mentor her oldest son in Thunder clan, Cloudpaw, who is stubborn and disobediant to the warrior-code. Thunderclan's leader, completely shocked by Tigerclaw's betrayal, has been mentally and physically weakening leaving most of her priorities as burdens to Fireheart on top of those of being a deputy. This is a hard book to read but so real that, however emotional it is, you can't stop reading the adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars windsor jr high school-lv
A lot is going on in this book and to Fireheart its a little overwhelming Cloudpaw is more lyal now than ever and is getting better everyday. I soon expect him to be a warrior. Fireheart is deputy and taking on a lot of responsibility. Also him and Sandstorm have come quite close i hope it lasts. Fireheart and Graystripe have always been best friends will Graystripe stay loyal to the clan hes in now? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Job
Of all the stories in the Marvel universe the Age of Apocalypse is one of my favorites. I highly suggest that everyone who enjoys the x-men read it.

3-0 out of 5 stars A classic storyline marred by shoddy printing
In the mid 1990s Marvel Comics took what was, at the time, considered a major risk: they shut down all the X-men and X-men related titles, and 'restarted' them all in an alternate universe where Professor Xavier had been killed and Apocalypse had risen to great power, essentially taking over the planet. The cross title event was a huge success, possibly the greatest success of any event of its magnitude in comic book history. Now, ten years later, Marvel is putting out the Age of Apocalypse Epic in four trade paper backs.
4-0 out of 5 stars Much better than the first volume
With the tenth (that's right, tenth!) anniversary of Marvel's epic X-Men storyline, the Age of Apocalypse, Marvel has released three massive volumes of the various issues released in that time.Volume 1 featured various one-shots, mini-series, and the X-Men Chronicles issues, and wasn't worth your time unless you're an AoA completist.Volume two however finally gets some things right by featuring the first couple issues of the various series' as well as the jump off point X-Men: Alpha (Vol. 3 will contain the concluding issues and the ending X-Men: Omega) that introduces the readers to this dark, alternate world where Charles Xavier never lived long enough to form the X-Men, and the evil Apocalypse rose to power and conquered most of the world.X-Men: Alpha introduces us to Magneto's team of X-Men: his wife Rogue, son Quicksilver, as well as Sabretooth, Wild Child, Storm, Nightcrawler, Sunfire, Banshee, Morph, Iceman, and Blink. The team is split up in the issues of Astonishing X-Men and Amazing X-Men as they take on various forces of Apocalypse.Weapon X introduces us to the one handed Logan and his lover Jean Grey as they unite with the Human High Council to save the world.Factor X gives us a glance at Apocalypse's main mutants; Sinister, Cyclops, Beast, and Havok.Gambit & the X-Ternals introduces us to the heroic thief and his team of mutants (including Jubilee, Lila Chaney, and Strong Guy) as they begin their quest into space to retrieve a piece of the M'Krann Crystal.Generation Next finds Colossus and Shadowcat training a group of young mutants and leading them on a mission to save Colossus' lost sister.X-Man (written by Jeph Loeb) introduces us to Nate Grey (this universe's version of Cable); the genetic offspring of Cyclops and Jean Grey, and he's the most powerful mutant on the planet.X-Calibre finds Nightcrawler going solo to find the msyterious mutant Destiny. All the storylines are great, and Generation Next, Astonishing X-Men, and X-Man are the absolute best. The only downside is that if you've never read any of the AoA material before, you are going to be left hanging a lot, and you'll be salivating to see how it all ends. The art throughout is excellent, and the stories are surprisingly gripping; something that is shocking to say the least considering that this is 90's X-Men we're talking about. All in all, the AoA storyline was a masterwork, and while how this TPB is collected isn't perfect, it's certainly better than Volume 1. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Vacation Under the Valcano - Magic Tree House #13
Shortly before leaving for vacation, Jack and Annie remembered that they needed to go to the magic tree house to solve a mystery. Morgan said "your aventure is going to the Roman times you need to find this book or it will be lost forever""WOW! I always wanted to go to the Roman times this will be fun Annie" said Jack.
5-0 out of 5 stars Volcanos wow!
My son and I have been reading the Magic Tree House series for the last couple months and we love them. These are the first books that my son has taken a real interest into, checking them out and reading them on his own.Vacations under the Volcanois our favorite one so far. After checking out a bunch from the library we finally decided to buy a set, and he was so disappointed that this one wasn't part of the set that he bought it seperatly on his own. This book has sparked a whole new interest for him.
